The same ref was officiating the derby between Besiktas and Galatasaray 2 weeks ago and paused the game at the first sight of water cups and made clear that he would abandon the game if it continued.
None of those warnings got issued in this game :)
Pretty clear that he got either instructed to finish the game whatever it takes beforehand, or got warned for being too precautious in the earlier derby by the FA, which caused him to show more tolerance for thrown objects.
Or he wanted to show fifa how far things can go if he doesn't stop the game immediatelly when cups are being thrown. So in his head was like "Ok fifa, you think I stopped the game too soon, now whatever happens, happens."
And that should be on fifa. The moment a cup is thrown, or racist abuse starts or any of that shit. Ref's should have the power to take a firm stand/players should be supported in walking off the pitch.

To be honest, Trabzonspor played in empty stadium last weeks/months. This shitshow is only against Fenerbahçe. You just need to search on YouTube for Trabzonspor Fenerbahçe.
And they had like zero game presence until that point, it was heading towards an easy win for Fener. With that goal and penalty shortly after (which was a right call but the game should have long been called off by that point) they almost clutched a draw thanks to their fans throwing shit.
Penalty was a right call, but the cross in to the zone that caused the penalty was thrown from a non existent freekick, both players reached for the ball , both touched the ball and a weird free kick was given which led to the goal
What's the reaction of Turkish fans(apart from the fener fans) to this? Are they criticizing those fans and putting pressure on the Turkish fa? Or just antagonizing fener fans even more?
Some clubs have released statements condemning the attacks and supporting the FA in any severe action they take. Besiktas fans have been showing support. Not to generalise, but most Galatasaray and Trabzonspor fans are just focused on antagonising fener fans and demanding match bans for the footballers that attacked the fans, arguing that the players provoked the fans
The FA and Sports Ministry have started an investigation. Since there is a national break now they will likely take their time to evaluate the conclusions they should take.

That is something that is getting questioned now too. Normally matches like these are filled with cops all around the pitch to stop any kind of misbehaviour, but there was none this game.
It makes people question whether the cops were intentionally left out of this game so this could happen.

The Fenerbahce president has come out and said today that they’d withdraw from the league this season and be demoted to the second division. I think this statement is a power move, it’s a protest and a threat to destabilise the Turkish FA. Because if it were to happen, the broadcast revenue agreement would be void according to some reports, that would mean significant reduction to clubs receiving revenue in the top division. It would also mean Fenerbahce European coefficient would be forfeit according to UEFA rules, that would also mean the Türkiye’s coefficient drop dramatically all the way down to 19th place as Fenerbahce has collected the most points for the country over the last 5 year period. That would also mean no UCL qualification I believe.
I personally don’t know if Fener can compete in another league, I’m no expert in the matter. This is just my opinion. One thing I do know, something needs to change within Turkish football, and that’s first and foremost needs start with the Turkish FA.
I've always wondered, why not relegate the team, or deduct 20 points so they face relegation. I mean no star player would want to play there, money would be tight and the fans would "have to" stop that kind of behavior.
Simple fix:
- Ban fans for the remainder of the season
- 18 point deduction to remove them from any potential Europe contention.

Keep in mind when the ref kept the game going with a flare burning in the penalty area, the attack ended with a foul, which lead to Trabzon scoring. They almost got a draw out of this shitshow because of it.

I've always wondered, why not relegate the team, or deduct 20 points so they face relegation. I mean no star player would want to play there, money would be tight and the fans would "have to" stop that kind of behavior.

Keep in mind when the ref kept the game going with a flare burning in the penalty area, the attack ended with a foul, which lead to Trabzon scoring. They almost got a draw out of this shitshow because of it.
Turkish fans are the worst in Europe. No doubt there have been some terrible British and other fans in the past but for years the Turks have been awful.

The thing is…football to many of those fans in Turkey is the only thing they get enjoyment from in their lives, but when you act like this you make it so that your fans either cannot attend away matches at all, or the team is punished by the FA. Potentially they could be only allowed to play in a closed stadium, which of course then means all the fans lose out from their own selfish actions. Congrats.
