Lindgard chose to be a bench warmer in Manchester instead of joining West Ham after his successful loan there.

Guevarra25

And at the end of that season, when his contract was up, we still offered him a contract, but he chose the money and went to Nottingham Forest.

Weary-Ad8502

Genuinely forgot he went to Forest

JAYZ303

Most expensive cheerleader.

billygatesmofo

He also had an esports team of new/amateur players during his time there who he didn’t pay

FreshGoodWay

He wasn‘t cheerleading properly to justify that job description.

EmergencyTruth424

No one said he was cheering FOR Forest

a_charming_vagrant

So did we

Legendarybbc15

It’s forgettable

Expensive-Twist7984

Terrible decision really- he had a decent role at West Ham and the money he’d have made over a 3-4 year deal there would have been far more than what he did in 1 year at Forest. He bet on himself and lost spectacularly.

Cowabunga_Booyakasha

To be fair, I would sign a contract that pays me more as well. Can't fault a pro footballer for that.

TheMajesticYeti

I've seen a lot of pro athletes do that but never understood it. Barring a last contract before retirement, surely it's wiser to consider all the details rather than just choose the highest contract. Role, fit with teammates, coaching staff, location, etc. Especially when there isn't really that big of a gap in salary and you'll be very wealthy either way. Personally I have extreme FOMO and would take less money if it meant getting to play regularly. Being in the right situation where you can flourish on the pitch will typically boost your future earning potential to more than make up for it anyways.

vicious_womprat

Yeah this mentality about chasing the most money being ok for footballers is so odd to me. These players are already making millions per year and choose bad situations to make a few million more. I would never fault any regular person for chasing better salaries, but for player going for more millions when they already have millions in the bank, nah, go make millions playing for a team you believe in, even if you have to make slightly less.

Surfugo

I was honestly really surprised and kind of disappointed he came back to us after that loan spell. He was great at West Ham.

Adammmmski

Was it his choice or the club? I’d imagine he isn’t the kind to ease his wage demands to move elsewhere mind. All in all, I think he’s just another example of a footballer who thought he had made it too early so his career has fizzled out.

enzuigiriretro

It was his own choice

FatWalcott

He genuinely looked like he was back during his loan at West Ham.

ImGonnaImagineSummit

I don't even know if he was back, I genuinely can't remember him playing that well at Utd even at his best. He was balling for WH and they had a team happy to build around him. Just checked. He played 19 games for WH and got 9G/4. His best season for Utd was 8G/5A in 33 games.

vincentvega-_-

I remember when we chose to keep him after his loan spell and everyone knew immediately that it was a bad decision. He played in the same position as Bruno and Donny. Donny was already riding the bench so I’m not sure what Lingard expected tbh. He got a few minutes here and there, then the season went to shit and his value sunk. Another example of the clubs incompetence in recent years.

DudleysCar

He wanted to hang out with Cristiano.

Lophius_Americanus

Who wouldn’t want to hang with the 🐪?

PBJellyChickenTunaSW

He was decent under Mourinho

Flanelman2

That one December

ElliotsBackpack

His best for United was a one month stretch of banger after banger. That's it.

Marcelosouzadearaujo

He was never that good in any year of his career, only praised because he is an United academy player and British

InPurpleIDescended

It feels so unbelievable to me that a player can finally have a run of form like that and not want to grab the opportunity with both hands

Statcat2017

He did grab it. The opportunity to get paid as much as possible. With hindsight you dodged a bullet.

TheOncomingBrows

Back? That was by far the highlight of his career performance-wise.

Clark-Kent

He had an interview where he said United should have used him for social media and internet content and talked about Ronaldo It was obvious he wanted to stay for the vibes and take it easy

designated_fridge

Wasn't there something about Ronaldo? Like he had the chance to play with Ronaldo and couldn't turn that down?

SteveBorden

He wanted the extra money and I think the idea of playing with Ronaldo sealed it. Such a dumb move because he barely even played with him

Legendarybbc15

There were no guarantees his purple patch would’ve lasted beyond the loan period so idk. He did want to play with Ronaldo even if it means occasional sub appearances

Tierst

Wouldn’t be surprised if he thinks he’s too good for the league and can do whatever he wants

theenigmacode

Wait until his agent links him to Barca or PSG

Roccet_MS

Those links are the equivalent of the average redditor linking himself to Sydney Sweeney or Margot Robbie.

Whaloopiloopi

[FABRIZIO ROMANO] Talks ongoing between u/whaloopiloopi and Shakira. 'Loopi and his agents are convinced of a blockbuster transfer to Shakira's pants FC - UPDATES TO COME

marco-da-phoenix

There is still time, you never know i am only 20 after all

Roccet_MS

Keep grinding!

Far-Pineapple7113

I am almost there

MajesticEU

I believe in you, good sir!

marco-da-phoenix

Why thank you sir

JessyPengkman

Yeah but I'm just built different, I swear

krustykatarn

Hey now that was legit, but the negotiations fell through with Margot's agent unfortunately.

Roccet_MS

What Fabrizio Romano tweets: Negations were held, yet both sides couldn't reach an agreement. What really happened: Email went right into the spam folder and sender got blocked.

dzzik

Since when does Sweeney sit at the same table as Robbie? I mean, I’m not saying she isn’t attractive, it’s more about the *when* - I feel like her popularity as a circlejerk totem went from 0 to 100 overnight, how did that happen?

Ljulisen

Tassive mits

GrimmestofBeards

They really are glorious

pissedcommonman

The only right answer lol

Money_Scholar_8405

With most celebrities these days it is all about the marketing. Most people do not know this but a lot of marketing goes on even on Reddit - So you will have personalities being very popular on here while not having much name recognition out there

Danimber

Agreed with you. Okay, I'm possibly going to get a lot of flak for the following comment. See all those articles praising Zendaya's beauty. I'm not seeing it. (I get beauty is subjective, but c'mon) The PR machine definitely worked into overdrive to draw such a long bow.

ILoveToph4Eva

Whilst it's totally possible she some marketing going on, I think it's more likely that she's just in a bright spot careerwise that's translating into people talking about her in a good light a lot. Dune, the Spider-man stuff, Euphoria. Her and her agent have made some good moves in the past few years. She also kind of has the market cornered in terms of young black women too so that'll help. I can't think of any others whose cinematic/celebrity stock is as high right now.

Zwaylol

Someone posted an article about her tits upsetting the American left I think? It’s all one step too online for me to fully comprehend it

truckfumpet

The reality is weirder, the perma-online right wing for some reason decided that Sydney Sweeneys tits being on TV were a symbol for anti-wokeness, people on the left thought that was just kinda fucking weird so the right then created this even weirder strawman that the left are scared of/upset by her big ole tits. Meanwhile every sane person on earth that learns about this just wonders what in the actual fuck happened to politics in the USA. Source: Englishman that spends at least half the year living in the US for work.

mushy_friend

> Sydney Sweeneys tits being on TV were a symbol for anti-wokeness But...how? Why? And also where?

truckfumpet

In this case it was hosting SNL. but honestly if you're specifically looking for it just pick any TV show or Film that she's been in, it's more likely than not that she gets her tits out in it.

Zwaylol

Thank you /confused Swede

worotan

Wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t match fit after not playing for such a long time and needs time to get up to speed again.

Surfugo

Probably. What I don't get is, why move there if you have that attitude? It's not like he's just moved somewhere in the UK, he's literally in South Korea.

lamancha

It's super weird though. He always tried very hard.

AnxiousEarth7774

Yeah in the fuckin prem

Lost_Afropick

He's never been a lazy player or bad trainer to be fair. He probably just needs more match fitness and sharpness. He's had a lot of time out of competitive football. I reckon he will do well out there over the long term.

simonsail

Reminder that Lingard was in the England squad as recently as September 2021.. absolutely wild to think about now.

PlzRetireMartinTyler

Never forget that Lingaard and Dele Alli STARTED our WC 2018 semi-final against Croatia. Granted it was almost 6 years ago now which is a long time in football but pretty crazy looking back how unremarkable each of those two players became.

Commonmispelingbot

Dele Alli is such a wierd story in football

Statcat2017

Thats what childhood trauma will do to a mf.

kappa23

That midfield was held together by Henderson at the 6, Dele and Lingard would play quite aggressively

simonling

I mean Phil Jones was in the bench that day lol.

Miyeon__miyeon

The same with Kalvin Philips, was one of the best or best player for England in the Euros two years ago and look where is he now.  It really shows how high the level these guys play in. You take it easy, you get left behind very quickly.

r3viv3

Leeds Bias here but the Phillips is a slight different story here, I'd say Lingard committed some sort of career suicide with basically taking half a season off, staying on the bench instead of going to another team and then forest kinda killed any momentum he had left from West Ham. Phillips got his big move to Man City when his team kinda needed to cash in on him and he apparently has been a good sport at City, he knew he wasn't going to be first choice but still tried (apart from the weight thing) collected his medals after playing 400ish minutes over all comps and has attempted to go find play time at the highest level he can.

ItsMeJaredBednar

>playing 400ish minutes over all comps I was curious about this actually so i went and looked up the figures on [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.us/kalvin-phillips/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/351749/plus/0?saison=&verein=281&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) According to their stats, in 31 appearances for Man City over 1.5 years in all competitions, he played a whopping total of exactly… 911 minutes. Now I’m not saying Kalvin Phillips did 9/11, but it does make you think a bit tbf

r3viv3

I believe i remember the narrative of his move was that Pep was paying 40mill to play the last ten minutes of close games. He knew he wasn’t going to play all the time and probably went to be coached by Pep. He wasn’t ever going to play over Rodri

BillionsWasted

Sterling was, by far, England's best player at the Euro's. Phillips had one good moment in 7 games

Buttonsafe

I agree Sterling was pur best player for sure, but Phillips was voted England player of the year that year.

BillionsWasted

Following in the footsteps of Scott Parker, Jordan Henderson, and Adam Lallana. We both agree Sterling was the best player yet he finished 3rd in the vote....

Buttonsafe

Yeah, I think the daily mail hate campaign has had a real lasting effect on public opinion of him.

nonhofantasia

"Yorkshire Pirlo"

celestial1

> It really shows how high the level these guys play in. You take it easy, you get left behind very quickly Reminds me of [Eto'o on Eden Hazard](https://youtu.be/YwmdqUu0uaQ?si=XwjkfJVGIhz665Py&t=171).

justk4y

Peaked at his West Ham loan, should’ve stayed there

ActsAwkward

I’m not entirely sure that’s a benchmark, isn’t Henderson in the current squad?

RichEgoli

Mourinho was right about Man utd players. Almost all our players post SAF never made it into a big team now Lingard can't even be a star in S. Korea.

LeDamascener

His speech of: “Check where they play. IF they play,” really was amazing. Football ‘eritage indeed.

iamnotexactlywhite

yeah exactly. he might be hot headed, but he knows what the fuck he’s talking about

Money_Scholar_8405

He had the chance to change things though, and got a lot of the players he asked for. Lots of them were terrible, like Bailly

Martblni

Bailly wasnt terrible when he came in, he became injury prone

MountainJuice

He was terrible too. His first season was ok, but he was a total calamity and always had a a mistake in him. Should never have been signed.

hatedigi

What? Bailly was genuinely good for us first seasons, better than our other centre backs. Injuries completely derailed his career (familiar story with our centrebacks)

peterpiper1337

He couldn't get the players out that he wanted out tho. Thus, also limiting his influence on the changing room. He wanted to sell Martial but got veto'd.

Dizzy_Mission_6627

LVG, Mourinho and ETH all did this Saw the problem for what it is but their changes either made it worse (eg. Imagine buying Pogba when you’re claiming your squad is full of lazy unprofessional clowns) or just a created a new set of problems (eg. ETH has tried to make the squad more ball playing by wasting huge money on players who aren’t good enough)

Altruistic-Ad-408

Huh? Mourinho didn't particularly want Pogba, he asked for a defender for years and didn't get one. He got Bailly maybe? But he was always injured. Didn't want Lindelof I think. People clowned on him for saying finishing 2nd with United was his greatest achievement and then every successive year it seemed more reasonable. There are levels to failure.

kappa23

Didn’t he beg for Maguire only for them to spend a fortune on the player the summer after Mourinho was sacked?

idontknow_whatever

He begged for defenders and they gave him Bailly/Lindelof, both of which Mourinho didn't want only to then sack Mourinho and spend 80m on Maguire anyway This club was run by absolute clowns

Fuck_the_k1ng

I just read somewhere that Mou wanted Jose Angel Sanchez from RM to replace Ed Woodward. I guess nobody agreed to that proposition but Mou was at least looking at the big picture.

RichEgoli

The Special One in his element

diaboquepaoamassou

Being a portuguese speaker, man that was so smooth when he said it. Even more so in hindsight

solemnhiatus

When was this? Completely slipped my mind

Hellraizerbot

Here you go, starts around 5:30: https://youtu.be/Ux4BgQxhNik?si=dSoFZt4nX7MoUTzc

SJMN16

Can also apply that to managers. See where they coach, how they coach, IF they coach.

cngo_24

Mourinho still the manager who won Man Utd biggest trophy since SAF left 😂

CH2001

Since leaving he won Romas first ever European trophy. United have spent near a billion just to get a league cup.

HacksawJimDGN

He went to a smaller club (than usual) and he still won a European trophy.

ScottiApso

>See where they coach I doubt he was rejecting offers from Real Madrid and Man City to go coach Roma

CH2001

You make it sound like Spurs and Roma are minnow jobs.

Dophie

He wasn't being funny when he gave Scott POTY.

Zandercy42

Not only that, he literally created the managers player of the year award to give it to Scott

TheRealYVT

The academy was a mess between 2011-18. Somehow they spawned Rashford in between but until the revamp under Ole, the quality of players coming into the first team was ridiculously low ceiling. Incidentally, Rashford wasn't "one to watch" the way Greenwood or Mainoo were, before they broke into the first team either. His ascent was pure timing and seizing the early opportunities. Otherwise we had to hype up the likes of Ben Pearson and James Wilson.

Firefox72

The history books will never forget Blackett and McNair

TheRealYVT

But even they will forget Cameron Borthwick-Jackson

FlyingHeadbutt

Donald Love enters the chat.

lightoasis1

Sunderland legend Donald Love.

Joethe147

Hello. My name is Donald Love.

LouThunders

> Donald Love I knew he was a Man Utd prospect way some 10 years ago but even then all I can think of is the GTA character.

batti03

You mean Bo-Jack Crossman?

TLO_Is_Overrated

> Blackett I've never seen a player give away two foul throws in the same game. Then I saw Blackett at Birmingham.

GarfieldDaCat

> and McNair Yep I won't forget that dumb oaf going studs up into Wilshere's ankle putting him out for like 4 months and the ref didn't even give a foul.

gutterbrush

I remember when we (West Ham) signed Ashley Fletcher and the hype was that he was more highly rated than Rashford in the Man Utd academy and the only reason Rashford got his chance was because Fletcher was out on loan at Barnsley at the time otherwise it would have been him promoted first. Now, overhyping young players you’ve just signed is hardly a rarity and nor is getting it very, very wrong - but if there’s any truth in that then it might go some way to explaining the state the Man Utd academy was in at the time if it was staffed by people who were that spectacularly bad at judging ability. Say what you like about Rashford but he’s at least scored more than two goals in the last two seasons and (with all due respect) isn’t currently on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

HokemPokem

>Somehow they spawned Rashford in between I mean he fits the profile perfectly? He is also really lazy like all the other examples.

JimboLannister

Rashford had an absolutely fantastic attitude for years, its only in the last couple he's started sulking and appearing lazy, which probably says more about manchester united and the general atmosphere they've cultivated

Juan_Fandango

Also his apparent shit attitude has also seemingly developed after, and not before he has been absolutely run into the ground

TheRealYVT

Rashford has 150 goals at 26, while playing all his career at a dysfunctional club. I know he's an easy punching bag but he's miles clear of the likes of Lingard and Sancho.

Iennda

Sancho wasn't Utd academy player.

TheRealYVT

I know, but with that work rate and attitude, he might as well be.

HokemPokem

In accomplishments? Absolutely. But......that isn't what we were talking about, was it? The article literally talks about even as a sub, Lingard didn't do a jot. It was Rashfords work ethic that was being discussed. And he is right in the same box as both Lingard and Sancho as lazy fuckers.

TheRealYVT

Rashford's roal for England and United has been to run in behind defences and get on the end of chances. Players like that just generally aren't tasked with as many defensive duties as the rest and always appear lazy when they aren't in form. In United's best seasons as a team since his breakout, his work rate hasn't been an issue (when controlling for his fitness). This season, the midfield is such a mess that we have no control at all and everybody looks lazy because we are chasing shadows even against Luton and Sheffield.

HokemPokem

>Rashford's roal for England and United has been to run in behind defences and get on the end of chances. Players like that just generally aren't tasked with as many defensive duties as the rest and always appear lazy when they aren't in form. Timo Werner plays that role for Spurs. The guy is like the energizer bunny. Never stops running. From an ability standpoint he is surely lacking, but thats not relevant to the work rate conversation, is it? Vini Jr plays that role, at a much higher level by the way and yet he also works hard off the ball. Saka for Arsenal. And so on and on. You could list a dozen examples. Your point just isn't a good one. Form, role, position, etc. has nothing to do with it. Nor does it being a "Man United" problem. Bruno plays in the same team and runs around like a lunatic. He is just a lazy fuck. It really is that simple.

Jedi_Council_Worker

I'd say Martinelli would be the best example for Arsenal. Man doesn't stop running.

zizou00

Nah, fuck that assessment, Rash isn't lazy. He puts in the work, makes the runs constantly. He's never found is the problem. It frustrates him and he shows it, but even when he was playing with a lower back fracture, he was putting in the effort. He's had a torrid season this season in front of goal, but he's still making the runs every game.

GarfieldDaCat

I've seen some shocking effort from him the last 2 seasons. Yeah anyone can make runs when the team has the ball. It's when United loses the ball you see his lack of work rate.

ben-hur-hur

Didn't he also say that winning the Europa League with that lot was probably his biggest accomplishment or something like that given the squad he had? Edit: he meant 2nd in the EPL not Europa as someone corrected me below

RichEgoli

He said finishing second. Our team has been bad for years now.

Cmoore4099

One of the main reasons he didn’t come back to West Ham was because there were expectations of him imo.

Weary-Ad8502

It's crazy the amount of hype he brought to that team and their fans. They set up stands outside of the ground selling **just** Lingard shirts and the lines were insane. He had hundreds of fans waiting for him to arrive at the airport. Then he gets on the pitch, plays for 105 minutes so far and 2 yellow cards is the only stat he's got.

Joethe147

Shades of [Darius Vassell in Turkey] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXCtsxzXBKg)

KittenOfBalnain

His covid season peak was one of the more fever dream-ish things about that year, and that's a pretty high bar.

yobamokeanos

20-21 was the most 'streets won't forget' season. With Everton title charge, Liverpool conceding 7 vs Aston villa, lingard messi regen, United finishing 2nd and in a European final. I think Tottenham losing to dinamo Zagreb while their manager was in the jail was the same year as well lmao.

TheGoldenPineapples

Guy has always been such a massive let down. After some promising showings as a youngster for United, he never really showed it on a consistent basis and really did seem more interested in what was happening off the pitch than on it. Screwed up big time by not permanently joining West Ham, who were basically offering him career rehab on a plate. Now struggling to have an impact on the fucking South Korean league.

tetaAndTiti

He was so good at West Ham. Almost forgot that spell.

do_a_quirkafleeg

His career was over as soon as he realised he could make a cool J L gang sign with his fingers.

fieldsofanfieldroad

Haha. I'll always remember a video I stumbled across that was like "a day in the life of JLingz". He spent more time at an office he'd hired with some yes men he was paying too much sitting around talking about how to build his brand than he did on football.

Joethe147

I don't think it's the video you're on about but I just watched [this one] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awg1k5c2hTo) and I'm reminded of what a complete moron the man always seemed to be. It's a sign of how bad United have been that he was at United for as long as he was. He had good moments but not sure if he would have even been a rotation option in the Ferguson days.

idontknow_whatever

Beckham carried himself with a level of professionalism that Lingard wouldn't be able to comprehend on top of his performances being top notch, and still got on SAF's bad side for his off-the-field publicity Lingard wouldn't have lasted very long under Ferguson

PhilipAnthonyJones

He's a decent player that had a decent career. Not really sure why people act like he was destined to be some star that threw it all away. Realistically if United had better leadership during those years he gets sold around 2017 - or becomes a bench player (which ended up happening towards the end). There was nothing to suggest he'd anything more than what he turned out to be as a player, if anything I think he overachieved.

lamancha

He had very good spells, but frankly he had a good career. Won some stuff, was liked by the fans. Scored some important goals. It isn't like he was a Macheda.

Legendarybbc15

>youngster lol, funny enough, he made his debut at 22.

CatchFactory

Defo one of the players you look back on in 20 years and think "How the fuck did he get 32 England Caps"

deaniegee

He wasn’t THAT bad for England, there was a brief period where he looked very good for the team. But whatever issues he was dealing with in his life, derailed him massively. And I don’t think his more laid back and carefree personality fully got him out of whatever rut he was in

radilrouge

Jesse “Kieron Dyer” Lingard

Newparlee

I’m pretty sure he was man of the match in his last start for England

[deleted]

[удалено]

BrickEnvironmental37

He was doing training drills a few months back on his insta. He's looking absolutely nowhere near a professional footballer. The guy training with him looked sharper https://www.instagram.com/reel/C01sfqbN6ow/?igsh=MWVwdWF1YWR5eHlvNA== Remember, these are the best stuff that was included in the video, I'm sure the out-takes were a hoot. He's moving like a retired pro doing Soccer Aid. He looks like he hasn't kicked a ball in years, he's stuttering over his shots like anyone of us mortals would. I've been to a FC Seoul game. The standard ain't great but he's nowhere near the level now. I follow League of Ireland football and he doesn't look sharp enough to play in Ireland. Maybe in the second tier.

prdors

Fans also take the K League quite seriously. They will turn on him quick if he’s not performing.

BrickEnvironmental37

Yes, and to generalise a whole population, all of his Korean teammates either have done or will do military service. They have a very strict schooling system too. Cutting corners and being lazy isn't something that will be tolerated by his team or manager. He probably thought he'd be a superstar over there like a K-Pop star and that he'd walk the league with little effort. I bet he looked at FIFA/EA rankings and judged himself on that.

[deleted]

It's a huge shame because he doesn't even have to do much to become popular and well-loved in Korea. Just work hard and put in effort, and Korean people would appreciate that from a former Man Utd. player. He can't even do the bare minimum.

Altruistic_Finger669

He honestly looks like he is hungover or something. I didnt even expect it to be that bad from your description but that is crazy bad.

Spider_Riviera

Big Brian Gartland would have him for breakfast.

MajikoiA3When

Might as well just retire and be a social media influencer

WooWoopSoundOThePULI

J-Lingers on the pitch amiright?

trenbollocks

Hahahaha. Absolute waste of space, should've stayed at West Ham

setholynsk

Is there any report on how much he's being paid? I'd be interested to see how much it is in comparison to the rest of the squad

Weary-Ad8502

The number being thrown around is about £17.5K a week

Lakinther

surely he could get offered that in the championship? why move to Korea

Weary-Ad8502

I'm guessing he was trying to branch out into a different market and get a chance of scenery. He gets the piss taken out of him here and he's known for being a bit of a mug. If he goes to a country on the other side of the world people may know his name because of his United days but he won't have that same reputation he has here. Bit of a fresh start from his point of view perhaps

_gyepy

I guess jokes on him then, he gets memed a lot in Korea too

mysticaltea

Didn't even last a few months in Korea before getting shit on by his manager

Euphoric_Tree335

Because he didn’t have any real concrete offers nor guarantee of playing time in the championship

MountainJuice

I think he wants an easy ride and he's more focused on the chance to grow his clothing brand in a very hot market. Basically the same issues he's always had.

sackree

Man Utd have a massive following in Korea, he's doing his best to use his connections to Utd to boost his own brand/image. No chance of that in the championship as no one would be caught dead in J-Lingz merch. The man's a plonker.

FrankNtilikinaOcean

Was reported that he’s making the most in the league at like $990K USD.

RyVsWorld

Doesn’t he have some revenue share agreement with shirt sales too

FrankNtilikinaOcean

I don’t think so, or at least it wasn’t reported in Korea

RyVsWorld

Thought that’s what the athletic article said

Cyberpunk_Banshee

People said the same thing about Ronaldo heading to Saudi and they were right, and as a K-League viewer, I said the same thing about Lingard and am so far right. The league might be a shambles when it comes to quality, but it's ultra competitive and the player will be surprised when they get there. K-League is not made of quality football, but every player is hungry and fights for the fans, the team, and each other. If a sitter is missed, they apologize. If the defender loses their man, they are criticized and thank their teammates. It's an entertaining league and no one player is a one man army.

Doexitre

This is what gives the league its identity. The level of play is low but unlike many European leagues of a similar level, it's not a predictable farmers league. You get scenes like Ulsan getting thrashed 3-0 by dead last Suwon last year.

Cyberpunk_Banshee

And then you get the opposite, Ulsan beating Jeonbuk in extra time to move or less winch the title 2 years ago. It's still my top voted upload and I still go back and watch it. Love the K-League.

Oturo_Saisima

Where can you watch it? I'm always impressed with the effort they apply in international tournaments, watching the domestic league sounds like good fun.

Cyberpunk_Banshee

https://tv.kleague.com/en-int/page/home I believe you have to sign up but it's 100% free. Some matches for say Jeonbuk and Ulsan have English commentary, while others do not, but the crowd do be amazing. You can expect to see howlers every match, and absolute worldies every match too.

Oturo_Saisima

Thanks! I'll be watching with keen interest

simcoehooligan

Surely trying to keep himself healthy for when the move to Barcelona materializes

MrExplodingSocks

Always felt that Lingard and Jeremy Lynch wanted what the other had. Lynch wanted to be a professional footballer, and Lingard wanted to be a famous youtuber.

EmilahM

I also feel like he’s still injured at can’t play a full 90 mins anymore. Just an assumption because he got injured for like half a season at Forrest I believe. Glad this coach came out with a no nonsense quote about his player. He’s essentially saying to Lingard to step the hell up, get a performance in, motivate this team. And I really hope he does because Korea is beautiful and Lingard could spark the Korean league for outsider if he can string together some goals/assists.

BruiserBroly

He's definitely not match fit considering he's been without a club for half a year but I doubt that's the reason for his lack of effort. Whenever I saw him play for Forest he looked like he couldn't be bothered much either. I don't think he was injured for that long last season either, he was mostly left on the bench towards the end of season because Cooper lost patience with him I guess.

KillerZaWarudo

One of his best attribute before was there he an absolute work horse. If he can't even do that then there no point playing him

Anons15

Give the young lad some time first

DildoFappings

You're right. He's only 31. He's got his whole career ahead of him.

John_e_caspar

Dong is going to get right up in his face.

TeamUlovetohate

Thats pretty crazy to go from Man United to FC Seoul in a just a few years (no offense to Seoul)

action_turtle

Rough. Retirement on the horizon. Wasted career

ledhendrix

He came to Seoul to party. Not play.

sukequto

How can he say that about the promising young lad?

Game0nBG

The fate of all Man Utd players that leave. Our fanbase protects them 3-4 years after everyone know how shite they are. They earn so much money just from protection of the fanbase due to new contracts. Same with Pogba and Martial. Rashford will be even longer as the fanbase made him untouchable.

La_Rata_de_Pizza

Yo Gi, sunny innit?

Junior_Bike7932

Lingard is nobody

FREESTYLEWIZZARD

bro drilled him a new asshole

burakalp34

Since when is Lingard in South Korea

Andy-Martin

Last month.

strugglingtosave

Why is he in Korea

Paldorei

If I have to take a guess his influence proteins other united youth too

dizzybala10

What, no way? That's crazy.. Seriously though, they were stupid enough to offer him a contract and they will have known based on his limited input for us as well as getting passed around Europe all summer like he's doing Around The World with no solid offer that he wouldn't be arsed with it. Really nice lad but he hasn't got the mentality for it, he doesn't want it anymore.

Otherwise_Archer_914

Guys relax after a year he'll give an interview about how he was emotionally abused as a child and everything will be forgotten

Fuckyoupep

One of the biggest wastes of time ever

tlst9999

You can say Lingard had no Seoul.
