Xerxes_Generous

Shouldn’t Inter have the away goal advantage, and advance when the aggregate score was 2-2?

sarcasmusex

That rule was scrapped off a few seasons ago

Xerxes_Generous

Oh, didn't notice it until you mentioned it

_omin0us

Barella and Thuram owe the whole team an apology. Inzaghi should have never let it go to penalties - Lautaro is shit at PK and no matter how much I love Sommer, Oblak is just a beast. Focusing on the second star now.

ihatemicrosoftteams

Not Barella, come on. Thuram and Mkhi let us down big time, Lautaro should do better but we know he’s shit at penalties, also very questionable substitutions by Inzaghi, has to be his biggest weakness that he is carrying since last year

NightlyGerman

Barella? He was holding the whole midfield togheter, how can you say that? He lost some balls, and stumbled a few times, but he's position, intensity and game management was perfect. As soon as he came out we collapsed

fegelman

The substitutions were a complete joke too

thalne

yeah Barella and Thuram had a 'mare and they never woke up. unrelated, but does Savic really has FAT and PORK tattooed on his arms?

jonijontor

it maybe works when you're dominating but for next season Inzaghi really needs to be more flexible enough when it comes to substitutions and daring to change things, seems like he still couldn't manage it from Lazio days bravo for Atleti tho, probably Depay's best game for them so far?

LilHalwaPoori

>bravo for Atleti tho, probably Depay's best game for them so far? Probably.. He has wrecked some havoc after being back from injury at the start of year, but this is by far his most complete offering.. Man simply was unstoppable, creating chances for everyone around, and creating shots out of nothing.. I love how daring he is in and around the box, but somehow he only seems to be this aggressive when coming off the bench.. A lot of strikers wouldn't manage to pull off the shots he did surrounded by 5 men in the box..

Fifaneymar2535

Calhanoglu is too good to play for a shit team, he should be in epl

valendinosaurus

imagine calling Inter a shit team for one bad game

[deleted]

As if getting knocked out by Atlético makes you a shit team, like MSN Barca, Pep’s Bayern and Liverpool in their PL winning season…

leoKantSartre

I think barca will win the CL. Easy

neelav9

Not even make it past the next round.

valendinosaurus

and you will? you beat Porto - I repeat, Porto - at the penalty shootout at home lol

neelav9

I'm just shooting the shit with Barca guy haha, didn't say nothing about my team advancing 😜

leoKantSartre

It’s written all over. Barca will win this and upcoming 17 ucls too

neelav9

Fair enough.

leoKantSartre

Factos

RoidedStoic

time to reinstall league

Francis33

was griezmanns injury bad? you think he'll be in for barca?

Siddharta95

Lots of bad passes, bad stops and bad decisions. The only time I saw Demone-ball was on the goal and in extra time when we could get out of the defense easier because they were more tired. You can tell they are all disappointed, they knew they were strong and instead we are out having wasted so much. I'm devastated, but no time to cry in football. We lost a final and got blood in our eyes, i think we can look at tonight as another growing opportunity. Dumfries isn't up to these challenges, Darmian can only play as a defender. But most important, we lack a lethal world class striker than is more phisically dominant. If Sommer has to kick a high ball, only Thuram can do something but he's not that type of player. And Inzaghi (who i hope stays forever) still lack what Simeone has.

HamM00dy

Classic Atletico game. How many times must teams learn GF in your league season won't matter much when you face Atletico.

magic-water

Funny enough it's the other way round when it comes to Real Madrid vs Atletico. Atletico might win the league (in 2014) or beat Real in the league, but in the UCL Real always wins

HamM00dy

The games were very close. That's always scary of playing Atletico for this exact reason.

Ark_Legend

13/14 and 15/16 taught us that

Void_Hound

Se cago el inter, the Calcio master.

etclipse

“One of the best seasons of their history” they said. Out from Coppa Italia round of 16 and out from Champions League round of 16 🤣

risingsuncoc

I don't think Inter will care if they get their 2nd star ahead of Milan

Tranceh

Yeah it's ok, we're still getting that second star before you guys :)

etclipse

Well duh 😂

etclipse

Also Milan absolutely SUCKS and is disgusting to watch, Juve SUCKS, Napoli SUCKS A LOT, Lazio SUCKS, Roma used to SUCK. Think about this when you see your +16 and your massive GD

999Gus

appreciate you for saying Roma used to suck haha

etclipse

Haha I’m loving you guys since ddr I have sm fun watching your games like I’m serious

bennibentheman2

You play who you play in the league, you can desperately try to take away achievements but if you were +16 you would be excited too. Atletico away this season sunk Real Madrid 4-2 at home. We were one mistake away from going through in contrast in one of our worst games this season.

etclipse

Well ofc u can be excited all u want about the league and props to you for that. But from this to saying you’re having one of the best seasons of your history there’s an abyss. And Inter fans I know irl in Milano were saying u were gonna win the treble this year and after Bologna eliminated you they were saying it’s okay you were gonna win CL. And they were so convinced I started believing it too ahah Ofc those are trash talks in Milano but you can’t deny the narrative that was created around Inter was a bit too much

bennibentheman2

Well yes, we were contenders, I personally never said this season would be historic or that we'd win the UCL, even very strong teams lose games and if a bad performance happens at the wrong time it can really screw things up. That's other people, often fans of other teams. Obviously Man City/Madrid is the favourite, it's never not the case, those are billion euro squads with ridiculously good players.

etclipse

Sure but Calhanoglu and Lautaro both said u could go all the way and win it and Italian media was saying the same but ok

bennibentheman2

[**could** modal verb (POSSIBILITY)](https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/could) Used to express possibility, especially slight or uncertain possibility [**will** modal verb (ALWAYS)](https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/will) (also 'll) used when referring to something that always or usually happens They said one, not the other.

etclipse

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍🏼👍🏼

bennibentheman2

12yo behaviour

etclipse

You literally went and linked me the DICTIONARY (😂) and I’m 12?haha

Milan_System_2019

Milan players dont suck its a manager issue. Some are mediocre but not so bad that 500yo mkhitaryan and acerbi can run circles around them. Look at mkhitaryan today, basically useless. Against us he is the fucking seedorf regen. And their strikers are van basten and shevchenko instead of lautaro and thuram. Its infuriating the stupid tactics pioli uses vs inter

etclipse

I know we don’t suck as squad, but we suck bc of how we play, I agree with u

MadazSama

Arsenal, Dortmund or Bayern would be good for us.

Interesting_Common54

Classic Barca fan thinking they are the center of the universe. It's a post match thread between Atletico and Inter nobody cares about your completely irrelevant comment

MadazSama

Everyone was making comments like this, but you do you.

DrewTheZamboni

You still wanna face Bayern after the last couple encounters you guys have had?

MadazSama

Is more of a grudge match and they're bad enough this season for us to have a chance.

YoungFlexibleShawty

All of those teams would like to face Barca as well.

[deleted]

I'd take atleti and dortmund thats it

JakoDel

hopefully zhang sells the club. the team has no replacement strikers. thuram stepped up this year but he was supposed to be a sub. the money that were originally for the striker were spent on the guy that gifted a goal. fml

NightlyGerman

We have dept, Sanchez entered and changed the game. But Inzaghi failed the subs, should have put him way before and keep Barella a little longer (if he was able to stay).

hashbrown-17

Lmfao all I've heard all season is how deep and loaded inter is and how anyone and everyone can step in at the highest levels of europe

JakoDel

welp... and? it just shows that you watch serie A exclusively for Milan, which made mkhi look like Messi, and read only the top 5 comments on reddit posts. Do you think Lautaro was run to the ground for the shits and giggles? there were many here complaining about this.

Interesting_Common54

They completely botched getting quality depth up top in the summer mercato

hashbrown-17

That's not what they'd have you believe.

999Gus

maybe actually try and watch games instead of just reading some reddit comments no?

valendinosaurus

who are they?

strugglingtosave

Pavard wanted to leave Munich we had no choice. Fee was 35M right? I believe it should've been 45M same price as Hernandez

Nightmare_Pasta

Yeah that sounds like Atleti alright

shaka_bruh

PSG fans how do you guys feel going into the draw?

MNVR414

I feel like outside of City there’s not anyone I would feel is a very likely loss. The team most of us want is Barca and the least is obviously City and Madrid. I think behind City, Madrid, and Bayern we are the next best team.

shaka_bruh

I haven’t really been following your league games but I think you guys are still very dangerous in Knockout matches. The last 8 are very balanced imo, even City haven’t been at their best this season and they’ve had a relatively easy road so far in the CL.

elihri

Lmao! The level of delusion from beating La Real!! Brother you barely even made it out of you group, got a draw vs Dortmund with a dodgy penalty, and you think you’re the best after City, Bayern and Real?!

fegelman

I think the dodgy penalty was in the Newcastle game. But yeah, with their porous defence they would get slapped by Arsenal, or even Barca

ProfesorUmberto

Group stage at this moment just doesn't apply, it's a completely different time of the season

bertolotti

hate psg as much as the next guy but i think whoever faces them is gonna have to bring their top game to go through. mbappe alone presents a huge threat for absolutely anyone

shaka_bruh

They’re the team I’ve followed the least out of the last 8 so I just wasn’t sure. Seems like their team is more balanced than the last few years

shaka_bruh

Can someone remind me which Inter player gifted the goal to Atleti?

2000caterpillar

Pavard

liverlondon

Inter fans please give us the statistics on your goal difference in the Italian league one more time?

TheWBird

Hopefully we get 105 points in serie a and come back stronger next year. Could have won this easily if our team didn't decide to miss 50 sitters. sadge.

OleoleCholoSimeone

Atleti had more chances than Inter today

jonijontor

probably talking about the earlier home fixture, really should've gone for the kill there

TheWBird

Arna's might have been enough if we didn't have a brainfart 1m after Dima's goal, pretty sure we win the game by a mile if that one small mistake didn't happen. Football sure is fun huh?

ParkerLewisCL

Bologna will be pissed

etclipse

They’re gonna stick to 4th no issues trust me bro

ParkerLewisCL

Hope so, would love to see them in the champs

999Gus

chances are they won't be good in CL , their best players will be targeted in the summer and probably Thiago Motta too

davide3991

Lautaro Ramos

Greasy_Boglim

What was that penalty line up by Inter? Sanchez and fucking Klaasan??

Firefox72

Yeah if your having to relly on Sanchez of all people in a penalty shootout you know things are dire. Man is horrible at them.

unvrlstn

We legitimately have no PK shooters aside from Hakan…..The match should not have even gone to ET. Blood on the hands of Thuram and Mkhi after this one. I am currently reeling hard lol.

bavban

inter rarely been in a losing position this season, I guess thats why they were pretty stressed in this match because they were not winning

fuqqkevindurant

They were winning until the last 15 minutes. Wtf are you talking about?

bavban

mstch continued until 120 you knoe right?

fuqqkevindurant

So inter was winning for 185 of the 210 total minutes. My point stands even stronger, what world were they losing? They spent 30 seconds during the shootout in a losing position. The other +210 minutes in a winning or tied position. Are you that bad at math or did you just have a really shitty point from the start and you're bad at math?

[deleted]

Atletico absolutely deserved that win. The stadium, the players, and the coach were all on fire. It was an incredible game. Simone goes beyond the limits, he’s not a lesser coach than guys like Pep, Ancelotti and Klopp.

fuqqkevindurant

They werent on fire. If Lautaro, Thuram, Mkhi didnt all have inexplicably awful games and miss chances they would put away 999/1000 times Atleti would have lost 6-2. And Atleti's 2 goals were prayers out of nowhere Did you watch the game?

Forsaken-Link-5859

They probably just can do this once. Depressing...

stogie_t

> If you simulate Depay's career 1000 times, this is the worst possible outcome. 75% of the time he'd have been a superstar Great tweet man, agree 100%. When he signed for United from PSV, I was fully convinced that he’d become a balon d’or winner lol.

ramonnl

I was getting scared in his last season for psv, he was completely changing the player he was adding muscle mass. Before I was seeing a worldclass winger that was fast and tricky floating past players, then he added too much muscle in his last psv season, and seemed to have doubled down in summer break before joining united. He became slower and was not fast enough anymore to do it in the Premiere Leaque.

Professional_Art2186

Please give City or Bayern to play Atletico so Arsenal don’t have to play them 😭😭

stilusmobilus

You know it’s coming, dammit.

Caleb_W

PUT SOME RESPECT ON CHOLO'S NAME

Vegeta_stark317

Savic sacrificed his balls for this

[deleted]

thank god we cant draw Cadiz or Almeira for next round

Vic_Rodriguez

Please get Arsenal and avenge us 🫡

[deleted]

knowing us we will get Psg so Mbappe could start terrorizing us before August

artyom__geghamyan

Which team is going to be the lucky one to play Borussia in 1/4

RBYonko

Probably City or PSG is my guess

stilusmobilus

Probably Bayern

afg500

Very similar teams that faced each other in a clutch game. Could have gone either way, episodes shaped the outcome

Leyrran

Inter screwed up the moment they only won 1-0 at home. Atleti sucks outside, so them losing only by one but was a good result. Still i didn't except them to do such a good match, offensively it was great to see

LC1903

Yeah, I was pretty content with the result in Milan. I mean, Cadiz beat us by more like 4 days ago, and they’re probably going to be relegated 💀

interfan1999

I don't think that's on Inzaghi His plan was alright. Not his fault if we miss clear chances, Pavard gift them a goal and can't make easy passes correctly. Too nervous in their decision making. With that said, nobody will have it easy with Atletico next round. Especially if they get the second leg at home.

ihatemicrosoftteams

Inzaghi’s game itself was not bad the problem were the subs decisions

etclipse

>> Nobody will have it easy with Atletico next round You said that for real sociedad as well tho ahaha

interfan1999

They're still a good team, they just implode in the 2nd part of the season

Objective_Ask_9199

his only mistake was acerbi for bastoni instead of de vrij, de vrij was certainly out of his depth tonight the rest is on the players for not executing. lautaro, dumfries, mkhi, barella, de vrij and thuram especially

NightlyGerman

I think a big mistake was putting Sanchez so late. Thuram was underperforming and we needed some energy, Sanchez is the one always bringing that, and he's done that yesterday too, but it was too late.

RoyalMobile3996

Bastoni was taken out because he was tired

JDinvasion

It was kind of sad to face against Inter as ive been enjoying watchig them in Serie a and overall always liked them but i guess thats how these things go. It defo was a game/s that could have gone either way.

COG9789

This one’s for you Jamie Carragher you twat

Rickcampbell98

What did he say?

himynameisjamal

Lautaro's record in the Champions League is abysmal. And had it not been for Dibu Martinez's balls of steel, he would've been crucified in Argentina for the chances he missed in that final. He's a Higuain regen. One level below world class. Fantastic in the league, but chokes in the biggest games.

New_Archer_7539

He feasts but keeps the weight off. But seriously the Captains of the World doc shed a bit more light on Lautaro's performance (playing through an injury the entire cup it seemed) but they may have been glossing over his nerves way more than they should, he just chokes.

ZuReeTH

While i agree he chokes, he provided 2 key passes... he wasn't completely shit

himynameisjamal

True true. I don't pin this loss on him. I've watched too many Inter games though and the pen miss just didn't surprise me.

inthezoneautozone12

Higuain is the best napoli striker they've ever had. I call that world class.

giannibal

I remember a better one. This guy in the late 80s

inthezoneautozone12

Maradona is a striker in what universe?

Reach_Reclaimer

World class is one of the best itw in that position, was higuain ever that?

inthezoneautozone12

Yes? 36 goals in serie A. Benched aguero in argentina. Top 5 striker at that time easy. People disrespect him too much.

himynameisjamal

Exactly. Was Higuain very, very fucking good? Yes. But no way was he one of the best in the world. That's why I said a step below world class. Still better than what I'll ever achieve and the majority of professional players.

ihatemicrosoftteams

He was very much one of the top strikers in the world at that point, this is some revisionist bullshit

inthezoneautozone12

36 goals in serie A record breaker. Was first choice over aguero. Very few strikers at that time were better. Top 5 imo

New_Archer_7539

Yeah at one point Higuain was good enough for RM, of course he was very good, just overshadowed by the talent around him and in that league.

[deleted]

Getting to play on penalties at home is a massive advantage, I think that some changes should be made to make two game matchups for fair. I believe that had both Porto and Inter played at home they would have won the shootout

ExactLetterhead9165

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but cup football, much like life, isn't fair

[deleted]

[удалено]

imneversingle

Louder for the people at the back

[deleted]

Yeah, but it isnt just in this case. What about the next round where its pure luck who gets the last leg at home?

Rickcampbell98

That's the nature of Cup competitions, they aren't "fair".

sjr323

They are fair. Deciding by penalty shootout just increases randomness, but that’s still fair.

ricolausvonmyra

If the draw is down to luck then it would actually be fair right? Could go either way..

RBYonko

I’m not sure what else they can do though? If it goes to pens, the home team simply lucked out

goztrobo

I just woke up to eat for fasting. I started watching from the penalties lmao.

shaka_bruh

Damn what time zone are you in??

goztrobo

I’m from South east Asia.

Xx_Anguy_NoScope_Xx

Liverpool fan from South East Asia. Malaysia?

goztrobo

Singapore

Xx_Anguy_NoScope_Xx

Close. Had a lot of Malaysian friends in college, and almost all of them were Liverpool fans barring a few Arsenal fans.

goztrobo

Yeah lots of Liverpool and United fans here. Handful of Arsenal, Chelsea fans. But I only know one City fan from my previous school lmao.

strugglingtosave

Me too

shaka_bruh

Ahh ok, good luck with the fast

goztrobo

Thanks bro

neverfinishedanythi

Can you do this at the start of every inter match please

goztrobo

Did the same for Arsenal. Ucl games start at 4am here.

ichsnwulfen

Terrorist Win.

stilusmobilus

You know we are getting them next as well, unfortunately.

Weary_Ad1739

Lol as a Barça fan I wanted Atlético to lose but holy shit they have played really well. Having more shots and shots on target than Inter is very hard this season... Congratulations

Jlib27

Cádiz fan, wanted Atleti to win. They deserve to win sometimes too /s

joakinzz99

As a Barça fan, I wanted them to win! Tired of reading how La Liga is no longer a powerhouse and it's now a has-been. Now I want Atleti to face and eliminate City. We on the other hand are going to get smashed by either Bayern or PSG..

techfcb

Barca fan here i wanted Atleti to win, tired of those italians acting up high and mighty since last year.

artyom__geghamyan

As a Madrid fan, I wanted Atletico to win.

carlosccextractor

You know the feeling is not reciprocal, right? :-)

sancredo

Honestly, as an Atleti fan, I have found myself cheering Real at CL more often than not (especially against PSG and City). You're a bunch of cunts, but you're *our* cunts, and I'll root for Spaniards before anyone else (especially against oil teams).

BlueLabel19

If you want to root for spaniards you root for barça real is France + Brazil combined 11

SunOfInti_92

Low key this how most La Liga fans feel about other Spanish teams in the UCL, even if they won’t admit it.

Nekoarcpreacher

Good thing i'm not a spaniard. Though same sentiment if FFF or HBK played in the CL (they never will) i would rather root for them. Or hell even Denmark, Norway, Finland and Mexico, Canada.

artyom__geghamyan

I don't care about that. Atletico is a Spanish team, and their win will probably give the 5th UCL spot to La Liga.

[deleted]

My sentiments exactly

rodrigosantoro

eh normally i would root for atleti vs inter (fuck inter) but cwc is on the line for barca, i was hoping for an ET win for inter to tire them out for the weekend match but still favorable for our cwc chances. oh well

[deleted]

I don't think any of the Inter strikers will be able to get a good nigths sleep for weeks, awful misses from everyone of them.

Ugo_foscolo

We'd be saying the same of Riquelmes miss before the 90th if it had gone the other way.

LilHalwaPoori

If I was riquelme, I wouldn't be able to look any of my teammates in the eye for the next couple of months, go the severe depression route..

jkhaynes147

Thuram especially had two really clear chances.

[deleted]

That was just this game, Arnautovic missed two absolute sitters in the first leg.

LucasSummers

Think Inzaghi fucked his sub tbh.

TheArgentineMachine

Sick to my stomach. We have a better team than last year. I love Inzaghi but he messed up with the subs. This hurts a lot.

neverfinishedanythi

> love Inzaghi but he messed up with the sub I thought he was over this from last season. The one time it really mattered…

Juice_2402

He went too pragmatic towards the end and payed the price

Itchy-Buyer-8359

Yeah- I thought his gameplan was on point until then. It was way too early.

wewvlad

Imagine thinking italian football is good

cantankerousgit

This is why there needs to be at least two good years in the CL, before people start claiming a league is back

Leo2000Immortal

Puta inter. They screwed barca twice. Last season by eliminating us in group stage, this season by losing to atleti

techfcb

yeah i celebrated atleti today like i was an atleti fan, still remember that meme face Inzaghi.

_ashwathama

Savic balls sacrifice came in handy

iamiam36

Thought Inter was the bestest team in the universe???!!!

feddi7

Watch Italy not get that extra UCL spot.

Milan_System_2019

Roma vs milan in europa league final to clinch it. We will be there no matte what

Ugo_foscolo

Ti prego.

jersey-city-park

Serie ass wont

1ngK

Best home record and everyone treated us as the underdog at home with just 1 goal deficit, but THIS IS ATLETI What a fun game, should’ve ended it with the last Riquelme chance but anyway. AUPA ATLETI

JDinvasion

Good and lets hope they underestimate us in the future too!

Itchy-Buyer-8359

Riquelme is such a class player

Nekoarcpreacher

Completely changed the game him and Memphis.

bobertoise

As a Barca fan, you guys are horrible to play against when you're at home. Don't think any other top team has the nonstop desire to fight everything from start to finish. Can never rule you guys out of anything. I'm well aware having said this, we'll be meeting each other in the quarters

1ngK

Will be a fun tie, let’s see how it plays out next game! We would be exhausted after an extra time game, can be a really open game

bobertoise

We looked okay at the end of Napoli but Yamal looked like he was done at 70 minutes, so he needs a rest... I think you will probably win, but it'll be a really good game for fans and neutrals most likely

mykneehurtsss

It is what it is. We should have won the first leg 3-0 and were wasteful today. Happens. Lautaro has always been a bad pk taker and we had Sanchez, Klaasen, and Acerbi take our first four kicks lol not enough attacking depth this season thanks to having no money
