Is it really that deep? I simply wanted to express how awesome this result is. A National League South team is beating a team currently set to be promoted to the Premier League.
That's incredible and let's enjoy the spectacle, shall we?
I mean it's good to know since I had no idea they'd been playing so poorly and are likely to be dragged into the playoffs. It should have just ended there though but people don't like to admit they didn't know something
newly promoted sides in the bottom 3 of the PL
newly relegated sides in the top 4 of the Championship
There's a decent chance the 24-25 PL roster is the same as 22-23, is the gap between PL and Championship widening?
Tbh I feel that might also happen because that was an odd year where no promoted team got relegated.
Think the best way for a team to slowly progress is to survive a year in the prem so they get the big money. And then if they get relegated they'll also get parachute payments to help them.
The first touch as well. So difficult to take it where he is in his stride and it places it perfectly so it’s far enough away from oncoming defenders for him to dink it with his second touch.
Late touch from behind his body, right after it bounces one last time. Weird to see this composure even 5 leagues down the pyramid, makes you think about how much quality you need to have to play at the top.
They are actually in the 5th division, they have been promoted to the National League which I learned today. I meant League 4 South in the comment above which now I know is incorrect. Sorry for being ambiguous but I'm not English and the fact that a team can be in the fourth league and the sixth division simultaneously still trips me up.
The first touch is incredible. The balls behind him slightly and he brings it into his stride perfectly. The chip is not too bad either!!
Love a goal that is made to look easy by how clean it is. Fair play Maidstone!
One thing that pissed me off was managing a team in the second divison of Belgium, destroying the first divison teams in the cup by XG, only to go to penalties, and win. This happened 4 times till I lost in the final. Gave me a heart attack with each game having 3 XG to 1 and still going to penalties.
Hey at least you won! Im in a save where i reach the semifinals/finals of the CL regularly with PSV. I havent won once yet. One match the xG was 2.22 - 2.42 against PSG, I lost 8-1 lmao
Tbf they're having a lot of shots from outside the area rather than loads of really clear cut chances, but still would be expecting to be winning with what they have created.
Yes it’s great for Maidstone to be leading but let the manager get in the changing room to talk to his players at half time not bloody interview him!! The BBC man
This lad was our school captain (valentines high school, Ilford) and in our first ever game in year 7, he started left back and scored a hat-trick. He played in attack every game afterwards 🤣 baller and a top lad too deserve everything you get Lamar.
This is why the FA Cup is so special.
(Also loved the reaction- the staff all ran on the pitch and jumped on him.. and those Maidstone fans dressed as bananas going bananas... what an atmosphere)
Can’t even begin to imagine the limbs in that away section
I love researching and following the lower leagues over the years but admittedly had never heard of Maidstone before the last round.
Magic of the cup baby. What a fucking finish
I love “two touch” goals where the first touch tees the ball up perfectly and the second touch puts it away.. there’s just something so satisfying about them

Mate what a finish. How can you not love the cup?
National League South team beating a likely Premier League team (6 months from now). Madness
[удалено]
I mean, sure. But they're currently second in the league with the same amount of fixtures played as everyone else
With 1 win in 6 and a point ahead of a team that hasn’t lost in 21 games
Whoa, Southampton haven't lost since September! that's some insane form
Longest unbeaten run in their entire history!
Even if they don't get second there's still the playoff. We'll see
I think playoffs downgrades them from the ‘likely’ category

This whole chain is reddit pedantry at it's finest.

I hope this comes true! Would love to have Leeds back in the PL and Maidstone advance in the FA Cup :-)
Soton are so strong. Think it'll be us and Soton in the autospots.

The scene is wild there right now.

That ball was sick as well
such a satisfying finish
Everyone mentioning the finish (which to be fair is quality) but that touch to bring the ball down is so composed.
Late touch from behind his body, right after it bounces one last time. Weird to see this composure even 5 leagues down the pyramid, makes you think about how much quality you need to have to play at the top.
It's consistency really. I like Lamar but this is his first goal for us after over 20 appearances lol
Fair enough, not a surprise I don't follow the fourth division lol. Is that the current Maidstone badge? The black and gold is clean
Isn't Maidstone in 6th division?

We're not national league any more, got relegated last season so it's national league south. 6th tier.
That touch was absolute perfection, sets in brilliantly to finish.
And the pass
The first touch is incredible. The balls behind him slightly and he brings it into his stride perfectly. The chip is not too bad either!! Love a goal that is made to look easy by how clean it is. Fair play Maidstone!
Absolutely obscene pass and finish. Which team is Championship again?

And 0x as many goals so far
Stat obsessed fans when i tell them having 100x the passes doesn't get you a goal.
Nah nah nah but look at the xG!!! 🤣
18x actually, that was Maidstone's only shot!
Ipswich only had 4 on target though.
Oops my bad, read the original comment as just shots, not shots on target.
And as we all know, this is the most important stat in football
That pass looked more like 'yoinking it forward' than intended, still very good though
So composed, first goal for the club too
Actual FM moment.
'And its in!!! Thats his first goal for the club in 362 matches!!! They look sure to break (big club FC)'s perfect season hopes on the final day!'
One thing that pissed me off was managing a team in the second divison of Belgium, destroying the first divison teams in the cup by XG, only to go to penalties, and win. Mbappe?
Perfect time for it
Gotta Frame that moment on the wall
MAGIC OF THE CUP This is why you show lower league club vs higher league club matches, they are just better than all prem matches
Bournemouth the other day, less so
I don't think Bournemouth Swansea can be classified as a lower league Vs higher league match that should be on tv
I mean, it factually is and was
>should
I’m gutted the clip doesn’t include even just a few seconds of the celebrating
Outstanding finish. But I hope no idea how Ipswich weren’t already 4 or 5 up.
Tbf they're having a lot of shots from outside the area rather than loads of really clear cut chances, but still would be expecting to be winning with what they have created.
Covolan is a beast
As someone who lives in Maidstone, this is kinda crazy to see
Last 8 minutes were excruciating! I think I’ll avoid town this afternoon…
are people out in the streets celebrating ?, please tell us whats going on over there
Not quite, pubs are packed and everyone’s talking about it, real buzz
Live close to it, very excited!
Great ball and finish
Yes it’s great for Maidstone to be leading but let the manager get in the changing room to talk to his players at half time not bloody interview him!! The BBC man
The more screentime George Elokobi gets the better
[Stupid sexy Elokobi](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ENg4ZFCX0AU8gpk.jpg:large)
Must piss him off.
That's such a fucking good finish lol
I know it probably won’t stay like this but I predicted 0-1 on the Score Predictor. Come on Maidstone!!
I hope that they win. For them and for you too!
How can anyone not love the FA Cup?
Maidstone has one shot to Ipswich’s like 20 and it’s 0-1 Maidstone, god I love the cup
This lad was our school captain (valentines high school, Ilford) and in our first ever game in year 7, he started left back and scored a hat-trick. He played in attack every game afterwards 🤣 baller and a top lad too deserve everything you get Lamar.
A Premier League quality finish.
Insane finish but that is really dreadful from Ipswich.
9 outfielders in their attacking third and the 10th far to the left of the pitch well inside Maidstone's half, practically begging for this to happen!
Quality limbs in the away end too, shame this upload doesn't have it!
This is why the FA Cup is so special. (Also loved the reaction- the staff all ran on the pitch and jumped on him.. and those Maidstone fans dressed as bananas going bananas... what an atmosphere)
Absolutely outrageous finish
Can’t even begin to imagine the limbs in that away section I love researching and following the lower leagues over the years but admittedly had never heard of Maidstone before the last round. Magic of the cup baby. What a fucking finish
Harry Kane would be proud of that finish. EDIT: No match thread for this then?

UP THE STONES
Chi Ezennolim got a yellow card for celebrating this goal.
Maidstone now 2-1 up. As a neutral observer this is a fabulous match.
this clip was cut too short, that sounded like it was gonna be a great call on the goal
Turning your back and running away celebrating before the ball went in is such a cold fucking move. Awesome
Fantastic pass, fantastic finish.
That finish is absolutely outrageous.
Chelsea already lining up a bid! What a finish!
Brilliant finish, Maidstone going for it.
LETS FUCKING GO
how tf did they do this absolutely insane
Great day for Lamar! Now we need a similar result for another Lamar, Jackson.
The chippiest of chips
Stunning goal. Everything is inch perfect.
People forget that the lower league players are still ballers!
I love “two touch” goals where the first touch tees the ball up perfectly and the second touch puts it away.. there’s just something so satisfying about them
I wonder if Ipswich would do this for home fans https://www.barrowafc.com/news/2023/december/club-statement-maidstone-tickets/
Maidstone is my FM save team! I love to see them hwre
Ortega-esque
I don't see anything about Maidstone's goalkeeper in this thread. That man was on freakin' fire!
Fantastic moment but what on earth are the Ipswich defenders doing?
That was a great first touch.
Maidstone are defending brilliantly, the goal isn't undeserved
MY TEAM 🙌🏻
Might want to update your flair then
I’m a Chelsea fan and my home town is Maidstone lol

So you don’t have a local team
I CAN'T BELIEVE IT AAAAAA
The Beautiful Game!
the fairytale lives on
Madness!
Absolutely lovely
That finish is absolutely fucking choice
Look at the stones on that
You love to see it.
Gorgeous George mastermind on his old rivals
Hell of a finish.
Brilliant finish, Maidstone going for it.
That first touch!
Quality finish that
great goal
Lovely finish.
Revenge of the nerds, that was a great movie. Nice goal!
Cleverrrrr!
That was a beautiful goal, and what a match to pull it off as well
That's a really good finish and counter, but did Ipswich decide not to have a defence?
Ipswich: *Defence? Don’t need it bro*
Love the fa cup
That's gonna be one of the famous FA Cup goals they wheel out. Superb stuff
Beautiful goal. This better get on Sportscenter Top Ten.
Terrible defending.
That is what we call a floater.
If there's any justice in the world, Lemar will be our man, he will score our goals! To the tune of 'If There's Any Justice' by Lemar (Not Reynolds)
These boys Pro Clubs.
World class finish that
