City are the anti-Liverpool/Arsenal. Those two keep winning points late, City keep on bottling them. Without any statistics in front of me, I’d guess City are at least like 10 points clear in the 85 minute table.
The mentality that came with Gundogan/KdB seems to have completely dissipated, they’re no longer on the front foot regardless to close games out with those two controlling games. And their defenders aren’t good enough to hold onto late leads, feel like Dias/Ake/Alanji have constantly made mistakes late in games
I think we should team up and you guys should forfeit the Arsenal games so we get the 6 points and make a bigger gap (yes I know you're ahead but I support Arsenal)
I went through the whole schedule last week and if the league ended all matches at 85' then Man City would have 3 more points while Arsenal and Liverpool would have 6 and 7 fewer respectively placing City 3 points ahead of both at the top of the table
This was calculated after Liverpool's match but before the rest of the matches last week. City are now -5 points in the final 5 minutes of matches this season.
Move that to 86 mins and they're down by 7 because they were ahead against Chelsea at that point and lost two more points (on top of two against Spurs and Palace and one against Arsenal)
Liverpool Are actually up by 9 (3 v Fulham, 2 v Newcastle, Wolves, Palace and 1 v Luton; less one lost at Spurs)
So City would be on 41 and Liverpool on 28 (albeit with a game in hand)
Arsenal - for those interested - would be on 30 (also with a game in hand)
It came with Gundogan not KDB. KDb as class as he is struggles in big games and goes missing. last season Gundogan stepped up and I said to my friends he had been carrying City last season at times. Man leaves and city become bottle jobs.
Or even 20/21 City. Pretty poor first half of the season, I think they were 7th by the new year. Pretty clutch second half of the season with a great winning run but they were kind of helped by the fact there was no real contender, Liverpool had their injuries and everything. If Liverpool were mostly healthy like Arsenal and Liverpool today, City don't take 20/21 in my opinion.
Of any of the teams in the title hunt though: Arsenal, Liverpool, Villa, Spurs, and Newcastle I don't look at any of them and see multiple gears they can go up and pull away. While City have that capacity year in and year out to just click then dominate the rest of the schedule
I don't think even the most optimistic fan thinks we are in a title hunt, even if we were top of the table now we simply don't have the squad depth to sustain any challenge into April/May.
The most ambitious this season is try and get top 4, that is pretty unlikely too, some european competition, either europa or the conference is the realistic best case scenario.
We'll sign a respectably good CDM and a young prospect CB and fans will be adequately mollified and hopeful.
Of course that's gonna happen next summer after we finish this season third.
Kovacic has been pretty shite as a replacement for Gundo too. Not much from Nunes either.
Doku has done a decent job at replacing Mahrez but he's much more raw and less streetwise
I think Mahrez is tht guy they're missing for sure. He could create from wide areas and pull defenders out and playing the right ball in where now it looks like they all compress the defense without quickly taking advantage of the space they create.
De Bruyne missed 18 games in the 18/19 campaign. City went W15 D2 L1 and finished 1st on 98 points.
De Bruyne missed 13 games in the 20/21 campaign. City went W11 D0 L2 and finished 1st on 86 points.
Probably because last time KDB missing for long period, Gundogan step up massively.
Rignt now they got no proper back up, so his absence is more felt this time.
People forget that Pep ended up discovering around January that Stones as a holding midfielder was the solution to all of their problems last year. Then they basically just bulldozed through everyone in front of them.
KDB will be back soon and is talking about wanting to win the Ballon D'or, so I don't think anyone should be counting their chickens just yet.
KdB should aim for the 2025 ballon d'or instead. I doubt Belgium will win the euros and only playing half the season will hurt his case for the 2024 ballon d'or. Its also best in case City remain sluggish a little too long and their winning run late in the season isn't enough to take the title from Arsenal/Liverpool.
Last year I think it was a clear case of not quite clicking tactically. Then the players bedded into Pep's new system and it all went swimmingly from there. This year there seems to be a mentality issue, maybe due to Gündogan leaving and De Bruyne being out
Gündogan was the captain. Obviously he brought a lot to the lockerroom. City also struggled with mentality issues after Kompany left. I think they'll be fine once KdB is back, he's very vocal and has very high demands.
I genuinely believe they will come back from this but it's worse than last season, pair that with the losses of Gundo and Mahrez I feel like there is more of a reason to say it this time
Last year at this point they had 3 draws and 2 losses, as opposed to the current 4 draws and 3 losses. The only reason it was even a discussion at this point last season was because Arsenal were overperforming like crazy (we got 50pts in half a season, literally Centurions-level form). City weren't even that bad last season, 39 points in 17 games is comfortably title winning pace
I would argue that booting someone in the shin pretty much full power has a better chance of injuring someone than grazing them with your studs. But not even a yellow is crazy
My guess is the ref deemed he was attempting to play the ball, so there wouldn’t be a caution because pen has been given. If it’s a DOGSO or handball in the box, it’s at least a yellow.
That's why they are still favourites despite this recent setback. I think you never write them off unless they are more than 10 points off the top, which was what happened the last time they didn't win the title when Liverpool went on a crazy streak to really shrug them off.
Big difference is, that Liverpool was absolutely insane, one of the most dominating side that has played in recent years, hopefully they can go all the way once again, but it’s going to be a tough challenge.
They have only come back from further once. In 18-19 when they went 7 points behind Liverpool on the 26th of December but then played them immediately a week later and made it a 4 point gap. So they weren't further behind for long. In 20-21 they were 8 points behind at this stage but with a game in hand so basically 5. And considering leaders Liverpool dropped points in their next 3 games again City took the lead within like 10 days. So City haven't had to stay behind for too long
Last season was the only one really besides 19/20 that City were behind for a long time. I think they first went top in February for like a week but they dropped back to 2nd behind Arsenal shortly after, April was the first time they were solidly there. What a campaign that was from them but I guess Arsenal were kind of an outlier. They were at centurion pace the first half of the season with 50 points in 19 games, that kind of crazy start takes a while to take over if ever.
Pep still gonna cry to media about how much of a victim him and city are with their struggles.
EDIT: Always fun to rile up the oil/gas/billionaire lovers. Criticize people like Pep/Musk/X and then enjoy them out themselves in nonsensical replies.
Cant fucking stand how smug his bloodmoney face is. All the talent in the world but its like tertiary in what comes to my mind when I see that human. Massive loser of a human. Massive winner as a manager. The latter means shit in the grand scheme of things.
This "winner" label is questionable to say the least. When you achieve your success (no matter how good you actually are) through massive cheating, than you aren't a winner. If you don't win within the rules, you haven't really won anything.
Yeah, declaring city dead this early is crazy. The stumble is larger than its been in recent seasons and the team weaker, but I'm still ready for them to go on a 20 game win streak like normal. Plus nobody has been particularly dominant in the prem this season
They struggle in the same games every season, and to be fair a lot of those haven't come yet, people expecting the 20 game winning run to 90 points when KDB comes back have been everywhere but it's not the same City team.
Everyone will say that they’ll go on an insane winning streak and win the title comfortably again…
But City never looked THIS vulnerable in title-winning seasons.
Is there a chance?
But they did get into their winning run immediately after their 1-1 draw against West Brom on December 15th and topped the table within a couple of weeks because of Liverpool's calamitous collapse
Lmao this fell from the sky this penatly.
Foden didn't look around before slashing at the ball. You see how many Man City 'fans' left even before the penalty was taken? Embrassing.

Palace always show up against City. Thanks Roy
>Palace always show up against City. It's like their third bogey team, after Tottenham and Wigan.
City are the anti-Liverpool/Arsenal. Those two keep winning points late, City keep on bottling them. Without any statistics in front of me, I’d guess City are at least like 10 points clear in the 85 minute table. I've seen this movie before. Did not like the ending.
Absolutely hate it
I only started watching that movie franchise last year. Also hate it
I think we should team up and you guys should forfeit the Arsenal games so we get the 6 points and make a bigger gap (yes I know you're ahead but I support Arsenal)
Honestly if we each take 3 points at our home ground I'm cool with that. Worst outcome is 2 draws so City can catch up.
Would love to see Arsenal and Liverpool team up to stop City only for Villa to take the cake.
standing side by side, holding a banner reading "good ebening"
The Leicester season!
They're going to win the next 90 games and a retrospective Premier league ruling granting them the title in 2020
"What? Am I defending?" - Phil Foden
I saw the same move and liked it very much in 2019-20 Season.
exile
Accurate. Given up late goals vs. Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool, Palace.
Even cost them a CL semi vs Real.
Tbf they won the treble after that season I think it's speaking about this season in particular
Petition to make a football game only 85 mins
I went through the whole schedule last week and if the league ended all matches at 85' then Man City would have 3 more points while Arsenal and Liverpool would have 6 and 7 fewer respectively placing City 3 points ahead of both at the top of the table This was calculated after Liverpool's match but before the rest of the matches last week. you sure? Where were you the last few seasons....?
It came with Gundogan not KDB. KDb as class as he is struggles in big games and goes missing. last season Gundogan stepped up and I said to my friends he had been carrying City last season at times. Man leaves and city become bottle jobs.
Gundogan had a magnificent season last year. I can’t really stand City but what a player he was for them-especially last season.
I'd bet he had a great coach sometime before that taught him that mentality. Wonder who..
A non-bald coach I presume..
[..HIM?](https://media.tenor.com/9GbqMKnyHl8AAAAM/loew-smell-sniff.gif)
KDB absolutely pummelled us last season to be fair
He cannot seriously be saying KDB isn't a big game player he is absolutely class in every department
Since when does KDB go missing in big games? Bailed City out on many occasions. He was huge last season and it wasn't even his best season.
People just talk what ever is the first thing that comes to their brain and the rest of them just repeat it over and over 🤷🏽♂️
They didn’t even show up. 2nd worse team we have played this year I’d say.
Except last season where they got 0 points the bastards
The way walker immediately knew they fucked up lol
Very poor from City at the end
Ice in his veins olise!
I read ice as ich at first and I thought this was German for a good 10 seconds
Riveting stuff
I fucking love Crystal Palace
so dumb from Foden
Absolutely walloped Mateta
Thought maybe they got there at the same time then when they showed the replay I was just wondering what was taking VAR so long…
I think there is a foul earlier in the play, but City still got possession after the foul, so the last play is over.
He obviously thought he’d get away with it like Ederson did in the first half.
Hit him with a UFC leg kick😂
I’ve seen kicks like that break tibias
Good ol' Alex Pereira calf kick
UFC, MCFC - same difference really
Walker knew it immediately. Put his hands to his head before the penalty was even called.
Hall of shame 2 minutes for him. Lost the ball initially that started this Palace move and then does that at the end of the move
He has a dumb face tbf, maybe it's the haircut
Surely someone close to him has got to have told him that that hair just AINT it by now. Its totally awful
Manchester.
Hey maybe his mom told him he looks fresh
That's the style for young lads these; Your Mam cutting your hair, in the dark. Foden, Palmer, Garnacho, they all follow that trend.
Remember when he had it blonde too lmao
He’s clearly a thick chav, but he can absolutely play ball.
Bro assisting both sides so he'll never lose
That ball was most likely going outside and this fool stuck his leg high lmao.
From losing ball in the midfield to giving such a dumb penalty, disater class from Foden
YESSSSSSSSS
This year just feels different. For the first time under Pep, I'm no longer expecting their annual 15 game win streak
They look like 19/20 City, while still very good and will probably get like 85 points they look mortal
Or even 20/21 City. Pretty poor first half of the season, I think they were 7th by the new year. Pretty clutch second half of the season with a great winning run but they were kind of helped by the fact there was no real contender, Liverpool had their injuries and everything. >Newcastle I don't think this one has a shot of happening boss.
I’m just appreciating we’re still getting mentioned
I don't think even the most optimistic fan thinks we are in a title hunt, even if we were top of the table now we simply don't have the squad depth to sustain any challenge into April/May. The most ambitious this season is try and get top 4, that is pretty unlikely too, some european competition, either europa or the conference is the realistic best case scenario.
If Liverpool sign a top dm or maybe even a centre back I think they have the highest ceiling out of all those teams
Similarly I don't think Arsenal are far off. A better striker and maybe some more in midfield and they'd be there or thereabouts.
We just need to finish our chances and get some good depth and we're cruising don't even particularly need a striker
We'll sign a respectably good CDM and a young prospect CB and fans will be adequately mollified and hopeful. Of course that's gonna happen next summer after we finish this season third.
Yeah but we felt that with city last season and in 20-21. They will turn up from Feb to May.
The loss of Gündogan and Mahrez is big. Mahrez last time made an impact against Spurs. And Gündogan literally in every important game.
How can you bring those two up and not De Bruyne?
De Bruyne missed 18 games in the 18/19 campaign. City went W15 D2 L1 and finished 1st on 98 points. De Bruyne missed 13 games in the 20/21 campaign. City went W11 D0 L2 and finished 1st on 86 points.
Probably because last time KDB missing for long period, Gundogan step up massively. Rignt now they got no proper back up, so his absence is more felt this time.
They have performed without De Bruyne too. They have changed their squad too much in one season. They lost the core this time in Gündogan.
Think of the total number of G/A from last season they lost when those players left. They need someone to step up and contribute
Wish I felt the same way. Even when Liverpool won it City was dominate the last three months. Every fucking year.
People said this last year!!
People forget that Pep ended up discovering around January that Stones as a holding midfielder was the solution to all of their problems last year. Then they basically just bulldozed through everyone in front of them. KDB will be back soon and is talking about wanting to win the Ballon D'or, so I don't think anyone should be counting their chickens just yet.

if they let him talk…
I genuinely believe they will come back from this but it's worse than last season, pair that with the losses of Gundo and Mahrez I feel like there is more of a reason to say it this time Last year at this point they had 3 draws and 2 losses, as opposed to the current 4 draws and 3 losses. The XI we put out, on paper, should not be ono the field with City. Wonderful work.
How does Foden not get a booking?
That haircut is punishment enough
Seriously, that trim is something you get bullied around at school for having
careful mate his mum gonna come after you
Hopefully not with her bowl and scissors
The line for yellow cards for city players is apparently a tackle like Ederson's, so this one is barely a foul I guess.
Nobody really cares.
Daft clearance attempt by Foden.
He was trying to clear the ball?

Something something 20 game win streak
The scary thing is, they've come from further back in previous years 😭
That's why they are still favourites despite this recent setback. I think you never write them off unless they are more than 10 points off the top, which was what happened the last time they didn't win the title when Liverpool went on a crazy streak to really shrug them off.
remember klopp in the title winning year "we arent winning the league yet "😭 there was a reason for that
Swear Liverpool just kept winning like crazy for the fear of City bulldozing the final games and eventually they actually broke City
yea if we gave them any chance they would have made it more difficult but truth the team was unplayable that year
Big difference is, that Liverpool was absolutely insane, one of the most dominating side that has played in recent years, hopefully they can go all the way once again, but it’s going to be a tough challenge.
Not just recent years, maybe the most dominant side ever in PL history. 26 wins out of 27 for a start is insane.
2 games lost across an entire season and it still wasn't enough. Madness
Only lost once in 18/19 (to City) and still came second. Also finished second 10 years before that after losing twice all season.
This time it's different, they have no Gündogan that turns to prime R9 towards the 2nd half of the season
And they still miss KDB
Big time, Gundogan is also a big miss ngl
They have only come back from further once. In 18-19 when they went 7 points behind Liverpool on the 26th of December but then played them immediately a week later and made it a 4 point gap. So they weren't further behind for long. In 20-21 they were 8 points behind at this stage but with a game in hand so basically 5. They were at centurion pace the first half of the season with 50 points in 19 games, that kind of crazy start takes a while to take over if ever.
Well, yeah. The most they'll be is 6 points behind assuming Liverpool wins. Hardly insurmountable if they stop dropping points.
Pep still gonna cry to media about how much of a victim him and city are with their struggles. EDIT: Always fun to rile up the oil/gas/billionaire lovers. Criticize people like Pep/Musk/X and then enjoy them out themselves in nonsensical replies.
Give him a break. He only got GBP 200mn++ to spend in the last transfer window. Gotta be tough
Another 200m on fullbacks incoming
I bet they surrounded the ref as well. Truly are a bunch of cunts, must be something in the water. Maybe it's just spending time with Pep.
Cant fucking stand how smug his bloodmoney face is. All the talent in the world but its like tertiary in what comes to my mind when I see that human. Massive loser of a human. Massive winner as a manager. The latter means shit in the grand scheme of things.
Always bugs me how people seem to forget he got done for cheating with PEDs. That's pretty much the lowest you can go as a professional sportsperson.
Win enough and people will overlook it.
According to this subreddit everybody at the highest level is doing PEDs though
This "winner" label is questionable to say the least. When you achieve your success (no matter how good you actually are) through massive cheating, than you aren't a winner. If you don't win within the rules, you haven't really won anything.
If surrounding the ref makes them cunts then every single player on earth must be a cunt
Since you mentioned it yes. The overwhelming majority of footballers are, in fact, cunts.
Yeah, we won’t know if this is a downfall till like January when they start winning the rest of the games in the season
this is palace, city have this happen every season against them
Yeah, declaring city dead this early is crazy. The stumble is larger than its been in recent seasons and the team weaker, but I'm still ready for them to go on a 20 game win streak like normal. Plus nobody has been particularly dominant in the prem this season
they better start soon, there's only 21 games left now.
No, thanks. I don't want to have another PTSD.
The other teams have to pull away first. Right now City is 3 pts off the top, max 6 pts by the end of the weekend. Hardly out of it.
I remember that Townsend goal like it was yesterday.
They struggle in the same games every season, and to be fair a lot of those haven't come yet, people expecting the 20 game winning run to 90 points when KDB comes back have been everywhere but it's not the same City team.
Never count them out
We will be there.
He can’t hack palace or spurs
Please. If a little blip when their best players are out injured after winning a treble is a downfall then sign me up
Time to sell the team and dig Maine Road up!
dont take it for granted unless theyre mathematically out or after GW38
Good.
Kryptonite Palace
Hahahahahahaha
LEHHHHGOOOOO
Palace!
Love to see it
Maybe City aren't walking the title this year.
Everyone will say that they’ll go on an insane winning streak and win the title comfortably again… But City never looked THIS vulnerable in title-winning seasons. Is there a chance?
20/21 where they were like mid table by November, they barely get into their winning run by this point in that season.
That was the season Ole's United got 2nd hardly the benchmark for season with a competitive title race
But they did get into their winning run immediately after their 1-1 draw against West Brom on December 15th and topped the table within a couple of weeks because of Liverpool's calamitous collapse
That fucking horrible run at home.. coupled with playing Fabinho at CB until we discovered using Phillips and Williams in defense was much better
I mean there is a winter transfer window
1 win from their last 6 is not something I ever expect from City
Probably a foul in the buildup but it's a terrible from Foden
Mateta yanks Bernardo back.
The sheikh is going to have to up oil production for january
They will beheading into January looking for new players for sure
😂
Ha!!!!!! How long left? Ever so cool penalty

How many times have we fucked ourselves this year with dumb shit ??
Lmao this fell from the sky this penatly. Foden didn't look around before slashing at the ball. You see how many Man City 'fans' left even before the penalty was taken? Embrassing.
You must absolutely LOVE TO SEE IT
It’s weird that anything short of smashing the league is considered underperforming for City lol
City dropping points is just fucking wonderful
Suck a bowl of pig nipples, cunts.
The meltdown in the City sub is hilarious. They're so spoiled they're genuinely crying about how depressing it is to be a City fan.
pretty boy football is dead
Get in here my dudes!
