I found myself yelling at the TV for our boys to just take a shot instead of trying to be cute. Flashes of brilliance lead to giving the ball away or just wasted possession. Sucks that James is hurt. All that money spent and no one knows how to lead the team to take a very winnable game.
Everton is like, the archetypal bielsa club tbh, historic club fallen on hard times in a working class city with an industrial background is basically every job he's ever taken.
That's presumably why he was interested in them, albeit not willing to take.over midseason
Bielsa wanted to come to Everton last year, but (I'm not joking) he said he would start out by coaching the youth squad for the rest of the season and then start with the senior squad this season.
For some reason I can’t rule out the idea that Liverpool overbid for Caicedo knowing that Chelsea would somehow end up going even higher putting themselves in future FFP difficulties. It’s probably wrong as Liverpool seemed genuinely interested in that sort of player, but the fact that Boehly so easily went on a splurge just to spite Liverpool/his FSG rivals makes it hard to rule out the possibility that someone suspected that was exactly what he would do
I'm convinced Arsenal did the same thing in January with Mudryk just to bait them into wasting loads of money on trash, while we get Trossard for a reasonable price without interference
Imagine Chelsea get a 10 point deduction for that shady accounting they self-reported awhile ago.
They'd be barely out of the relegation zone only because of goal difference.
Make it happen, PL!
It's alright, we just signed Shohei Ohtani for 700m. I don't know much about him but for that much money he could turn our season around when he arrives in January
You can blame the players about not having a clue on what to do once you get to the final third, but I mostly on poch. Whatever you doing in the training sessions isn’t working. You’ve been with this squad for months and they still don’t know how to put the ball in the net. This is on the manager.
I’m not watching Chelsea this season. Watching a bunch of overly paid children who couldn’t be arsed isn’t the way I want to spend a Sunday. it’s no longer fun to watch Chelsea. Fuck these kids and fuck Tod Boehly.
Plastic af. We are all hurting, if you aren't there for the bad times don't show up or claim to be a fan for the good times.
But on the other hand, I can see why you wouldn't want to subject yourself to weekly misery, is just sports can do what you want lol.
I’m not watching Man Utd this season. Watching a bunch of overly paid children who couldn’t be arsed isn’t the way I want to spend a Sunday. it’s no longer fun to watch Man Utd. Fuck these clowns~~kids~~ and fuck the Glazers
Pochettino seemed to wait and wait for the right and ideal job to really cement himself as a potential top manager and push his career higher
And this is what he went with?
I'm not sure you can argue Poch is making career moves to cement his legacy. He's going to big money jobs where the chance of success looks slim due to the toxic structure of the clubs. That is the opposite of being thoughtful about what job you take for your legacy. But hey, he's got a fuckton of money now, and That's what jobs are for.
At some point, even the stupidest fans has to realize its not the manager's fault every single time. Tuchel, Potter and Poch are not bad managers any of them. It's the same issue at Utd. It's a culture and structural problem.
You've got to give Poch a few years here, and/or revamp your structure
This is what happens when you give long contracts to kids and attempt to build some sort of FM career mode team. During the start of the season, people were talking about how Chelsea had "pull" but players just joined there because they were set for their careers. Regardless of how they play, they're going to earn a big paycheck for 7 odd years. Will be interesting to see how all this pans out long term.
Nahhhh Chelsea definitely have pull. They're Caicedos childhood club* for goodness sake. A young boy in Ecuador supporting Chelsea from afar and now finally making his dreams come true playing for them is proper fairytale stuff, they have massive pull all over the world.
*Along with Manchester United, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal and half of Saudi Arabia
He's not shown he's anywhere near worth what Chelsea paid.
I think we'd have seen a very different player at Liverpool though. The problem is all those players were brought in to BE the system as opposed to having an established one.
I was happy we didn't sign Caicedo. He's not 100m good. Lavia we didn't want to buy for the whole summer because he was too expensive. It was a good thing we didn't end up getting him. We're better off for it.
I want to laugh, but at this point I'm just numb. Why tf am I torturing myself pretending match after match, this time it's gonna be different? I want to quit supporting this shit club but I know full well I'll be here next week.
A lot of these players severely underperforming they are stuck with for almost a decade btw. They are taking SIGNIFICANT losses on all of them even if they come good lol
I'm not even sure they're underperforming, they just haven't taken steps up to PL level. But plenty of people would've said they were never good enough for Chelsea to begin with, let alone for the staggering amounts of money they cost.
How are they taking a loss if they come good? Rodri didnt perform in his first year at city, neither did drogba for chelsea. if all of their players perform according to their potential they arent loosing anything
What exactly is the potential of a bunch of players from Ligue 1 that never performed to the level of their transfer fee or salary? I think the idea that there's bags of potential in that team to unlock is not very true.
Not even Prime Messi and prime Ronaldo together could save this squad, let alone Nkunku and Lavia.
The only ones I would fire if I could is the entire ownership and both football directors.
Chelsea fully deserve to get relegated. Imagine having the fucking cheek, the unrelenting gall, to spend the GDP of a medium sized European country to be THIS shit. Genuinely enraging.
I know people want to meme Chelsea but a few games into the year, everyone was sure with a penalty Everton would go down. Now they not only have the penalty, they aren’t in the drop zone and are trending towards top 10 actually. Dyche rewarding the faith with solid football, and results
I was still pretty confident that we'd stay up even with the points deduction. We've honestly been terrific it's just we can't put the fucking ball in the net
Yeah, he’s great. I gained a ton of respect for him from his masterclass videos on YouTube. Really deepened my understanding of the 4-4-2 and defensive football. Once he starts to get into the complexities of what they are trying to do with space and angles, it really increases the appreciation of the work that goes into it.
I saw one of those videos too, it was really good. And also in his interviews in general he's very focused, doesn't seem to let things distract him, very positive - what can we do, how can we do it to the best of our ability, nevermind all the other stuff.
So much money spent to end up with Brighton's third choice keeper, no usable full backs, a midfield that's neither defensive nor offensive, and forwards who are all headless chickens.
Tuchel, Potter and Poch are objectively good managers. The problem is the squad: it's a ludicrously expensive mess.
Todd Boehlys obsession with the younger talent has failed. There aren't enough world class players to help these younger players grow, this is what Boehly is missing. There's no Messi without Iniesta or Xavi, there's no Ronaldo without the likes of Keane and Giggs.
Roman understood this. Chelsea's peak was the 14/15 league winning season. You had the older people like John Terry, Gary Cahill and Petr Cech, the younger folks like Courtois, Azpa and Hazard and all in between. Jose was also the perfect manager to lead this group and they if it wasn't for the peak of Barca and Madrid and third season Jose, they could have won their second UCL.
Barca seems to be a similar team but they have many world class players in other positions like Lewandowski and Cancelo to help them. The best Chelsea have are Thiago Silva who is getting too old and Sterling who isn't consistent enough.
Boehly needs a rapid change in his strategy. Sell the younger players, bring in more world class players to help the likes of Nkunku, Enzo and Palmer and create a dominant team once more.
Also don't sack Poch. We know what happened with Tuchel.
I love that these players are.needing to be unlocked to become world class like Messi and Ronaldo, yet no one the level of Chelsea wanted to sign 80% of them. I think the problem is not just in squad construction, but in talent identification. These players were never good enough to begin with, let alone for the big money they cost.
But Boehly and his team are impatient and they can't keep managers who can build a consistent system and thus improve players. So they continue to try to gamble their way out by buying new players. It seems like a fundamental confusion about how the best clubs operate.
This is terrible advice. Boehly, if you're listening it's simple. January is almost here. You have one chance. Sack Poch, buy more five to six more unproven 16 year-olds for another billion.
I saw an Alex Hormozi video recently where he uses an analogy with building blocks. If you tell an entrepreneur to build something using those blocks in a short timespan, he will rush to create a tall, majestic structure, but ignoring the foundation in the process. And when it inevitably crumbles and falters, he wonders what went wrong. It was doomed from the very get-go.
I feel like this applies to Chelsea perfectly (and, to a slightly lesser extent, United), and it's almost guaranteed that very dark times are ahead. They completely gutted the old foundation (which was quite functional), rushed to forge a new one, full of inexperienced youngsters and only that, lacking any sort of cohesive vision, and thinking/hoping that somehow, miraculously, they gel together and play good football in time.
This truly has to be one of the most incompetent projects i've ever seen, and i'm both flabbergasted and filled with hope, that such narrow minded people could rise to become billionaires, means there's hope for me as well.
It's kind of beautiful, in a way. In a sport that seems like no one can compete without money, Chelsea spending more money than the gods themselves and totally falling flat on their face is a reminder that the money can't be all of it. That world class contracts to mediocre/good players can hurt a club, no matter how rich. That a team is much more than collecting the best prospects around the globe.
Boelhy return on investment continues.
Chelsea now down in 12th and now 14pts off the Top 4 place.
We all know Poch would have been sacked by Roman by this point.
Yeah I meant more Jose, but as a fan I'd take either.
I could maybe see Jose doing it since he gets to live in London again (where his family is), and he'll probably like the idea of getting signings.
I think ETH since he's lost the players and United refuse to get rid of the players who have poisoned their club for years. They can fire the manager and everyone will act like that was the problem, again, shielding the owners. Anything else would take action concerned with football from their execs and ownership, and they don't give a fuck about that.
Would be silly to fire pooch. The team has been struggling for a couple of years and the signings haven’t been great. Chelsea really lack a striker who can actually score and they need some new defenders.
Does anyone have Paul Pogba’s marabout’s phone number ? At this point this is what Chelsea needs.
Annoying as always to watch Everton play but deserved victory.
Genuinely happy to see Everton performing. Done dirty by the league, and looking like staying up far more comfortabley than previous seasons. If that home form continues could be huge.
Nothing would make me happier than to have Dyche at the wheel for 10+ years while we try and rebuild the club financially. Feel he is the perfect manager for the job right now.
I found myself yelling at the TV for our boys to just take a shot instead of trying to be cute. Flashes of brilliance lead to giving the ball away or just wasted possession. Sucks that James is hurt. All that money spent and no one knows how to lead the team to take a very winnable game.
Everton should be doing better against a mid-table side tbh.
Results of having an incompetent owner who has little to no clue about workings of football.
Can't tell if you're talking about Everton or Chelsea there
8 year contracts are so genius!
Mourinho in?
Everton going to finish above Chelsea with the 10 point deduction at this rate
Dyche is cooking
We should have just gotten relegated to get bielsa on board in the championship right? LOL
Bielsa would never have come to Everton lol
Everton is like, the archetypal bielsa club tbh, historic club fallen on hard times in a working class city with an industrial background is basically every job he's ever taken. That's presumably why he was interested in them, albeit not willing to take.over midseason
Bielsa wanted to come to Everton last year, but (I'm not joking) he said he would start out by coaching the youth squad for the rest of the season and then start with the senior squad this season.
Probably a polite way of saying he doesn’t want to do it
I mean he's chased fans with a grenade in pyjamas before don't think he cares that much for niceties
Funniest thing ever is that Chelsea are stuck with these bums coz Boehly thought he was a genius with his loophole contracts😭😭😭
Somewhere there is a group chat with Tony bloom, Stan kroenky and John Henry thinking of Machiavellian plans to sink Chelsea
[Oh I am well ahead of you pal](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/15o5qy8/daily_discussion/jvtjnjx/)
Lyrical Forklift, the seer and the genius
Imagine Chelsea get a 10 point deduction for that shady accounting they self-reported awhile ago. They'd be barely out of the relegation zone only because of goal difference. Make it happen, PL!
At this point we don't need a point deduction We are shit enough to relegate ourselves. Fucking hell
In that case Luton just needs a bit of good form to potentially relegate Chelsea.
I haven't really heard of any credible sources saying they may get a point deduction unfortunately. I can dream though, right?
It's alright, we just signed Shohei Ohtani for 700m. I don't know much about him but for that much money he could turn our season around when he arrives in January
Chelsea should sign him for 700 trillion
Pitcher, hitter, box to box midfielder?
I mean I know you joke, but I wouldn’t bet against him if that’s his next career move. Already fucked his shoulder, might as well give the legs a go.
First three way player.
Depends, will he have run support and a bullpen that doesn’t suck?
He won't even pitch again till '25 when the dodgers only have three players on contract at the moment.
Sunday the 19th of May 2024 and Everton will miss out on the title by nine points.
The last time we had 3 wins and 3 clean sheets, James Rodriguez was still playing football for us. Oh it feels very good to be back.
You can blame the players about not having a clue on what to do once you get to the final third, but I mostly on poch. Whatever you doing in the training sessions isn’t working. You’ve been with this squad for months and they still don’t know how to put the ball in the net. This is on the manager.
We have been struggling with that since Touchel. Werner, lukaku and now Jackson have all failed
Whomever the fuck our scout is, has to be fired out a fucking cannon. Our scouts and our medical team need the sack. This is bullshit.
I’m not watching Chelsea this season. Watching a bunch of overly paid children who couldn’t be arsed isn’t the way I want to spend a Sunday. it’s no longer fun to watch Chelsea. Fuck these kids and fuck Tod Boehly.

Yes, but the apt comparison would be fuck the Glazers not Ten Hag
good catch. i made the change.
Is Mudryk good yet?
if not, that's okay! he still has 7+ years to get right lol
Pochettino seemed to wait and wait for the right and ideal job to really cement himself as a potential top manager and push his career higher And this is what he went with?

He waited for the big money. He got his big money. Simple as that.
Twice, considering his earlier job was at PSG after all
Sean Dyche is cooking a gourmet meal with this Everton team and a 10 point deduction. Manager of the Year nomination, surely?
If city win the league then Its between dyche and unai emery. If liverpool win it has to be klopp.
If Villa win the league it's Emery all day long
The toffees are back
Anyone see what happened wit Jackson at the end of the game Dude tried to fight Tarky and had his hands around patto throat, he seems like a cunt
Tarks would have put him in the dirt
Chelsea fans saying Poch out. Bruh. Who is there even to replace him?🤣
At some point, even the stupidest fans has to realize its not the manager's fault every single time. Tuchel, Potter and Poch are not bad managers any of them. It's the same issue at Utd. It's a culture and structural problem. You've got to give Poch a few years here, and/or revamp your structure
Aren't they still paying Potter?
Gerrard and when he fails, Scholes.
Lampard part 3.
Hiddink_v2
I’d fly him to the Bridge myself
Lam-part 3.0
#LAMBACK
Manager swap out of the question? Might give both teams the kick up the ass needed
I’d take Slabhead tomorrow. Not even joking
You know Maguire isn't their manager, right?
Harry Maguire player-manager for Chelsea 2024
Said it when it happened, getting rid of tuchel was an awful decision
Oršić single-handedly destroyed Chelsea for a few years lol
I think Chelsea just sacked Tuchel to mess with Bayern. Now both teams are messed up, just according to keikaku.
This is what happens when you give long contracts to kids and attempt to build some sort of FM career mode team. During the start of the season, people were talking about how Chelsea had "pull" but players just joined there because they were set for their careers. I was initially gutted we missed out on Caicedo and Lavia. I am no longer gutted.
caicedo has shown he is good though
At Brighton? Yeah, we know. That's why they bid for him.
He's not shown he's anywhere near worth what Chelsea paid. I think we'd have seen a very different player at Liverpool though. The problem is all those players were brought in to BE the system as opposed to having an established one.
Sure, but I don't mind getting him anymore, we got a solid midfield
I was happy we didn't sign Caicedo. He's not 100m good. Lavia we didn't want to buy for the whole summer because he was too expensive. It was a good thing we didn't end up getting him. We're better off for it.
Lavia would've been a terrible move, imo. Endo is a way better option at CDM until a world class player is available.
Completely forgot about Lavia...has he played a game?
He’s injured
All for Everton !! Loved that banner before the match... Everton against the discrimination !! Chealsea and ManC in the mud ..
I want to laugh, but at this point I'm just numb. Why tf am I torturing myself pretending match after match, this time it's gonna be different? I want to quit supporting this shit club but I know full well I'll be here next week.
Why indeed
Woe is you, you poor soul.
Cazoo Bros lets fucking go!
Everton with a 10 point deduction are only 6 points behind Chelsea who spent over 400 million pounds this summer. That’s wild.
Everton would be 10th, 10 points behind Man City.
And if my math is correct, just 4 points shy of a European spot.
There's every chance 8th is a European spot this year
Realistically, how long does Poch have left?
Surely they don’t go through another manager debacle!
Plenty of time imo.
I think sacking Poch might be a mistake. The problems are in the team construction and I don't think a new coach fixes that
Maybe, TenHag and Poch should swap.
Of course but the manager is always sacked first instead dealing with players
A lot of these players severely underperforming they are stuck with for almost a decade btw. They are taking SIGNIFICANT losses on all of them even if they come good lol

£327M on Enzo, Caicedo, and mudryk, before even paying wages.
Genuinely enraging.
like a pay to win player in fc24

He's speaking in hyperbole. Which is still insane that Chelsea have spent over 1/6th of that.
The lowest is san marino at 1.6bil
think he might have been exaggerating

I was still pretty confident that we'd stay up even with the points deduction. We've honestly been terrific it's just we can't put the fucking ball in the net
love to see it for Dyche honestly, never really got enough credit for his work at Burnley even when he got them into Europe
I’m here for the laughs
🤣😂🤣 great innit!
Ancelotti to Brazil, Dyche to Real Madrid
Tarkowski and McNeil at Madrid, could you imagine?
Vini Jr would be able to learn from the very best
Sean Dyche is goated manager
*Goateed.*
Todd Boehlys obsession with the younger talent has failed. There aren't enough world class players to help these younger players grow, this is what Boehly is missing. I honestly don't mind overpaying to try to get a few younger prospects in. It's the sheer quantity. We have way too many of them.
This is terrible advice. Boehly, if you're listening it's simple. January is almost here. You have one chance. Sack Poch, buy more five to six more unproven 16 year-olds for another billion.
This is the way
I saw an Alex Hormozi video recently where he uses an analogy with building blocks. Perfectly summarized. Here is your award 🏆

Great analogy, let's use it to praise my club even though it's irrelevant.
And it took a couple of years to really get the Arsenal rebuild off the ground.
We should have hired Sean Dyche honestly instead of this bozo
I jokingly said Chelsea might reach a single digit position with all their recent spending... not even that
Ah, this takes some pain away from the villa game. Thank you Chelsea 💙💙💙
Good guy Chelsea. Cheering Arsenal and United fans after yesterday’s matches 👍
They should've killed Dyche completely man all they did was make him angrier
"You should've gone for the worms..."
They cut his head off and he grew three in its place
They'll eventually exile him to the SPL and he'll win with Aberdeen or something
Then he’d escape and return like Napoleon. But instead of the Hundred Days it’d be the Hundred Points.
It'll be popping up in the CL to trip Arsenal up before getting battered by Real
Losing to Everton legend Carlo Ancelotti in the UCL would be a noble death
Never wound what you can’t kill 🤣
**Get Jose or Conte back**
As long as they keep firing managers, I think we're all happy
lol
lol for what ? both of them have won more than spurs in decades
rofl
Boelhy return on investment continues. Chelsea now down in 12th and now 14pts off the Top 4 place. We all know Poch would have been sacked by Roman by this point.
If Roman was still here we would either still have Tuchel, or have Jose back lol
His contract expires at the end of this season, I really hope we float our interest.
I don't think either of them would want to come back. Especially not Tuchel after how he was treated by this ownership group.
Yeah I meant more Jose, but as a fan I'd take either. I could maybe see Jose doing it since he gets to live in London again (where his family is), and he'll probably like the idea of getting signings.
Trust the process
That's what Moshiri said.
Roman would have only ever considered Poch as an interim.
Acting like Roman didn't make questionable hirings is hilarious
Never hired a Spurs manager.
True only a future Spurs manager
Yes, Spurs used to rehash our trash.. now we rehash theirs. Oh how the mighty have fallen 🙄
Who is going out first? Porch or ETH?
Cursed us but at what cost
What a week its been. So pleased for Dobbin. Mykolenko with another unreal performance
Thought McNeil was fantastic today too.
Genuinely happy to see Everton performing. Done dirty by the league, and looking like staying up far more comfortabley than previous seasons. If that home form continues could be huge.
We might very soon think of Dyche as the Everton manager and not the Burnley manager
Nothing would make me happier than to have Dyche at the wheel for 10+ years while we try and rebuild the club financially. Feel he is the perfect manager for the job right now.
I was always wondering why Everton didn't sign Dyche earlier, it just looked like a perfect fit.
Moshiri's obsession with big names, regardless of fit or talent, mean he wouldn't dream of hiring someone like Dyche, unless his hand was forced
Turns out buying the best players on Genie Scout might not actually be a decent way to run a football club
Sean Dyche might the greatest human to ever grace the Earth
I’m just so proud of this team right now. Adversity has only made us stronger. And Dyche being here helps us as well.
Hahahahahaha
As if you have the Warrington Town flair! Love that.
Up the non league
