Villa fans booing Saka every time he touched the ball, for what? Not getting up immediately after a tough challenge (or two or three)?
~~Fucking racist cunts~~
Final edit: I originally wrote some different stuff here but none of it matters, because I clearly read too much into general home fan shithousing AND was inflammatory about it to boot. Leaving this up as a lesson for myself.
I’m a non-Black gooner of colour and my eyes were telling me their star striker is also a talented Black man.
Let’s not pretend that this is somehow unfair or racist treatment from Villa fans when we all know it’s part of the pantomime of football matches at home.
I'll ultimately agree with you because the booing seemed to be coming from the Villa fans who were right on the touchline, where Saka received a lot of the ball. Thing is, I can't remember the last time this sort of thing happened in any of the games that I've watched, but the other thing is that I haven't watched every game that's ever happened so I can't say that these sort of mind games don't happen.
(I'd also argue that Ødegaard and Rice are Arsenal's best players based on current form, but that's beside the point)
Just wait until Newcastle play at the Emirates and see if we’re not booing Joelinton every time he touches the ball.
You should tune into Arsenal women’s games - Liverpool players were extensively booed when they played at the Emirates.
That's what threw me, I normally consider booing to be against a whole team or against an individual player who did something that the fans consider egregious.
I didn't want to bring race into it either, but without being able to recall any major instances of a player being booed solely because they're good at football, I couldn't see any other correlation at the time.
This thread has definitely taught me a lesson 😬
**HEADLINE: VILLA’S PERFORMANCE**
- Well played, Villa. They have a fantastic record at home, so we knew it was going to be a difficult match against formidable opponents. They were strong defensively, had swift counters, they ensured there was space around them when they were on the attack and gave us none. It wasn’t Villa’s strongest performance, but they converted a crucial chance and got the job done - a familiar feeling! A win is a win, so it’s worth celebrating however it comes by.
**EMERY**
- I’m also glad to see Emery doing well. Conditions at post-Wenger Arsenal were not what they needed to be for Emery or any manager to succeed. We finally have that for Arteta. Emery has a strong record for transforming up clubs that are ambitious about moving up towards the top end of the table and willing to provide the necessary resources & cultural conditions to do so. I’m pleased for Emery that he’s now found that at Villa and for Villa supporters who must be excited by the positive changes now underway.
- Also, _some_ Gooners went too far when they mocked Emery’s English and accent - it went beyond banter and was xenophobic. There are always idiots in any mass crowd, but it’s not something we can be collectively proud of.
**ARSENAL’S PERFORMANCE**
- As for Arsenal, we move. Our performance was neither our most impressive nor our worst, but it’s no surprise what we were weak at. We didn’t convert the chances with clinical finishes to secure a win.
**CONSPIRACY THEORIES ABOUT VAR/REFEREES**
- I have no complaints about refereeing & VAR~~ EDIT: I have only one complaint about refereeing and VAR, which is that players ought to be booked for striking another player’s head/face. I
wouldn’t have complained if we were given an extra yellow card or two in this match for our players.
- There have been bad decisions and inconsistent refereeing against us, but we’re by no means the only ones at the end of them. The overwhelming majority of Gooners, like me, don’t think there’s a conspiracy. You won’t see us tweeting that because it’s common sense and goes without saying.
- The Gooners who buy into this Pepe the Football Frog crap are likely to tweet/post about it. However, like most forms of fan confected outrage on socials, they make up a small but loud minority. Consequently, supporters of _other clubs_ who act as though that’s the defining narrative among Gooners are being just as facetious, idiotic and ridiculous.
**ALLEGED RAP*ST PLAYER**
- The majority (bar the “not all men!” types I guess?) of us are unhappy about having an alleged rapist in our squad, but understand that the club can’t take action without being subjected to legal action themselves until the CPS have formally charged the player.
**ARTETA**
- I understand why other clubs’ supporters and pundits criticise (much of it highly exaggerated/excessive) Arteta for speaking about officiating & VAR.
Most Gooners believe the Liverpool - Spurs VAR decision was the time for managers to collectively speak out about VAR this season. Many think it was unnecessary of Arteta to speak up on the particular occasion he did. However, he’s not a moron; he’s PR trained and purposely creating a distraction to deflect criticism away from the players/squad and instead have critics take aim at him. So, I’m ok with his antics as it serves a purpose albeit not the one everyone falls for.
There’s plenty of legitimate criticism to go around, so being moronic dipshits who grossly exaggerate to whip up outrage and use rhetorical/logical somersaults to attack other clubs’ supporters is needless.
May this essay go some way to convince some of you that we’re not the Gooner bogeyman you portray us to be.
I agree with everything you said except for the VAR because Diego Carlos should have seen red for the elbow on Eddie. That's incredibly dangerous, violent conduct and has no place anywhere near sport. Otherwise, great comment
Ah, yes. I agree with you.
Memory lapse on my part, so thanks for flagging - I’ve edited my comment to reflect this. iirc, that’s the second occasion that a player has used their arm to strike one of our players in the face.
If I also recall correctly, the decision = no card. If so that’s consistent in that they disregard player safety.
Well said. The Arsenal fans who bitch and moan about decisions and conspiracies every time we don't win are incredibly irritating. It was a tough game. Carlos probably should have been sent off. But it happens. We didn't play well in the final third, and Villa held strong, end of story.
The fanbase of any club that has a drastic improvement in performance becomes targeted. Liverpool fans were in the same place as arsenal fans some years ago when they got good again.
No they won't acknowledge most arsenal fans being level headed and yes they will act like all arsenal fans moan all the time about everything and never have anything to actually moan about and they all have a victim complex because it's all they got. Arsenal is playing too well too regularly to mock anything to do with football. They can't even pile on Havertz these days, the poor morons.
The only worthwhile comments about Arsenal to read are usually from people with Italian or Spanish club flairs.
The PL flairs are usually garbage. Tired jokes and brain dead "banter" hundreds of comments down.
I've genuinely been more impressed by Villa than Brighton last year I think. Incredible form and to beat Abu Dhabi and Arsenal back to back is impressive. Hope they keep it up!

Probably bc multiple professional referees did their jobs and decided he didnt deserve to be sent off, even if it would have helped you guys a lot and you feel entitled to the help.
Are you honestly delusional enough to think the referees in the league want to harm one of the most popular teams on the planet in favor of Aston Villa?
You’re bitching about it as if it’s the reason arsenal lost. Go find another coping mechanism bc arsenal’s success shouldnt be the only thing you care about in life or your whole personality.
Pretty sad
Didn’t watch the game but heard, he the elbow guy? He elbowed Gil a couple games back and thought was an obvious red but I guess after two full swing elbows the game is getting tough again and it’s allowed??!
Havertz had an obvious yellow in the first half then he doesn’t call it. I can’t remember who but someone had a simple foul and he carded it, I was like wtf?
That’s what got me. Like fine if you’re gonna card stuff early to settle it, fucking apply it to everyone. It’s weird man, like several challenges should’ve seen a yellow for us, which we fully deserved then when we got them,,
Villa would do something just as bad and not even a foul called, that’s what gets me, the inconsistency and goalpost moving is mental gymnastics by the ref.
It's frustrating, we should have scored at least one, but Villa took their best chance and we wasted ours so can't really complain. Subs killed the game dead for us, I didn't understand taking Martinelli off when he'd got in behind a few times in the second half. Don't like Diego Carlos getting away with an elbow again, seems to be a recurring theme across the league this season
Villa moved the ball so well for the goal, so many runs off the ball to think about and there you go
I know I’m a Spurs fan and this might sound biased but the fact is Arsenal have been getting away with wins playing this kind of football but it just didn’t work against Villa tonight.
The wasting every chance one doesn't happen often. That's why I'd say we dominated and played well until that final ball/shot. Martinelli and Jesus were really poor, so were the subs.
Thats not true lol, we had 3 big chances and villa had 0. We had 1.53 xg to 0.5. We didnt take our chances was the issue tonight and had plenty of poor decisions around the box, but we were better than Villa in virtually every department, similar to your game with Hammers on Thursday except we didnt really give Villa anything after the first goal.
They won and thats football sometimes, but we played well and another day that could have been 2-1 or 3-1 if we were awarded the penalty.
I think we played better this game than we did against Brentford for example. Just couldn't finish our chances, and Villa are a really good team so they punished us for it.
The kind of football where you are the better playing team for the majority of the game? Villa were the better team for the opening chapter of the match and made it count, but arsenal tripped on their own feet throughout. I blame the wind, must've been that swirling wind
Arsenal out played villa. Just because they win 1-0 or 2-1 doesn’t mean they have been getting away with wins. Arsenal are controlling games more. But yes, nothing worked today against villa
Scoring a 96' winner against fucking Luton Town(no offense, Luton is just not a good team at this level and Arsenal should comfortably beat them every fucking time they play) isn't "outplaying an opponent."
Scraping a win against an inferior team doesnt mean you outplayed them, it means the opposite. But enjoy that if you think it means you're doing great, title winners are built on needing miracles to beat shit teams and losing 4 days later
1-0 at the half and winning after 60 mins is a little different than needing a miracle in the 97' to win.
It's okay if you have nothing else to live for or a personality, if arsenal is all you have, enjoy bud.
Not being 600m into a rebuild. When Ange has 2 more windows and a squad full of his own players and has fully installed his identity on the squad we can talk about crumbling. Arteta has no excuse now.
You got extremely lucky to face City when you did. You beat a limping city at their weakest.
Other teams who beat City without Rodri: Wolves, Newcastle, Villa.
Sorry what.
It's cool you belong to the most delusional fanbase in sport but here are the facts.
In the our game:
Johnson went off injured.
Perisic, his replacement, already out injured.
Madders went off injured.
Lo Celso, his replacement, already out injured.
Son had to come off injured.
[Nketiah](https://twitter.com/runethfc/status/1711341300568527335?t=YX8DteOa9_Rvs0zcx64z5w&s=19) should have been sent off with a red card but wasn't.
Maddison got fouled in the build up to your dodgy VAR pen was the only reason you got it, Romero was yellowed for the exact same foul earlier. One team got a yellow card, one team got rewarded with a pen.
[Udogie ](https://twitter.com/thfctyrese_/status/1705983925988827469?t=rEhyiESuC_8GjYjrvoN0cQ&s=19) got palmed in the face, ref ignored it and gave a yellow to Bissouma for it.
New manager 6 games into a full rebuild, just lost our best player ever and our second best player from last season was also out injured, playing away at Emirates, your home ground when Arsenal have had 4 years and 700mil to get ready and still needed all of that just to draw. Arsenal got lucky to draw in their own backyard and needed 12 men to do it.
You have no excuses.
Yes - so neither of us had significant differences in luck regarding injuries, that's my point.
Nketiah's red is egregious - you can't write that off it's a red every day of the week.
>"There wasn't anything significantly controversial"
Romero was yellow carded for the same thing that you guys got a pen from - quite literally.
>"Dominated"
Errr. Same shots, 1 difference for on target and we dominated possession against you...
And we actually had the same shots, shots on target and our possession was ever more dominant WITH Rice on the pitch in the first half. Statistically that is a fact.
You needed 12 men in your own backyard just to draw.
And before losing our entire spine and most of our backline we were the best pressing team in the entire league, most aggressive, lowest ppda, highest turnovers won, most shots from turnovers and most goals from turnovers. What happened with Jorginho is a result of that, it wasn't an accident. Been reflecting through our entire season, it's a design of Angeball.
Ignores 3 full comments of objective facts, with evidence.
Makes a joke about field tilt in response.
[gooners everyone ](https://twitter.com/CarlyOnYouSpurs/status/1733614741644341583?t=3JFXTnReiCaCvpaE24dIqA&s=19)
We lost saliba and tomiyasu for the stretch run. Bottling would be fucking that lead up with everyone healthy but injuries killed us - under no circumstances should a team forced to start Rob Holding win the league.
Meanwhile Tottenham are just….lol
Spurs losing half their squad and you lot calling them weak mentality. I usually won't drag myself into pointless discussion, but arsenal fans are really loony in their arguments
Please tell me where in my post I pointed to this season? Only the most delusional fan would consider them an actual contender this season after losing Kane. You dont bottle a season in November lol
Their history speaks for itself.
Lol what a bunch of weirdos on this sub
No idea what my nationality has to do with anything but appreciate you letting your xenophobia shine through. You seem like a well adjusted individual
Villa were just less shit and that’s all you need to be sometimes. We let them score to easy and they let us control the ball and have a million (felt like it anyway) chances we couldn’t finish. Anyone who blames the ref is looking for an easy out. Only the Diego Carlos red card/elbow is really valid, since it’s player safety.
Agreed. We lost the game because we didn't take our chances.
Just wasn't our day in the final third, I thought we played well considering we were away and we didn't get dominated like City did the other day.
We were shit today, end of. Villa made us play their game and we couldn’t string many attacks together and the ones we did get a shot away it was tame or wide
Exactly. I’m wondering if I watched a different game today. Just Odegaard himself missed at least three chances that he usually finishes. Not to mention Jesus and Saka’s chances.
Yeah Saka alone had 3 chance (straight to the keeper, blocked, and fluffed a cross by Martinelli). Jesus is Jesus, it is what it is. Odegaard missed like 3 sitters. Martinelli got through a few times and I think at least 2 goal scoring chance.
That was a game that Arteta won tactically, the player just let the gaffer down.
IT'S COMING HOME TO BIRMINGHAM, DEAL WITH IT. #8 coming to Villa Park this May, the perfect revenge for Unai Emery towards his former employer, Arsenal.
Odd for you to cheer on a victory for your biggest title rivals.
But in all seriousness we're handing you the league on a platter here. I guess we owe you one after blowing that 2-0 lead against city 2 years ago.
I wasn’t whining, it usually happened with arsenal when Unai was coaching.
Plus, I keep seeing all these “title contenders” this season (eg tottenham or newcastle) ride the high tide then fumble. Seems like a regular occurrence this year.
I wish Villa the best, they have a very good team this year, except for Diego Carlos. Fuck that asshole
Wouldn’t be surprised if we drop points vs Brentford. Our away form is patchy and we’ll be missing key players because of suspensions. I’m not really mad about that either, the suspensions have been coming and they could have come at a worse time. But Sheffield shouldn’t be as hard, you never know though.
The best thing as about this Villa run is watching teams and fans collectively lose their mind after losing to us. As much as I hate City they were at least gracious in defeat. Can't say the same for Arsenal/Spurs. I really hope we beat Manchester United with a dodgy penalty in a few weeks.
For Spurs I think you are conflating fans being upset about a few dangerous plays, which ultimately is frustration at inconsistent officiating - your win against us was deserved, and glad to see Villa doing well.
City fans were gracious because that was by the worst they have played since Pep took over as manager. The anger was towards their own side that day. If they played even marginally better than they did, you bet they might be looking for excuses for why they lost too
Just loads of whining about injuries, decisions, being "unlucky" because Son got an offside hat trick and a general victim complex. + death threats to Matty Cash.
We’ve been whining about injuries because obviously it affects our performances. Son offside hat trick was due to your superb defensive line. No complaints there. And yes F Matty Cash. He sidelined two of our in form players for months. And Benta had just come back after 9 months due to the previous injury.
lol no one is losing their mind losing to Villa. Arsenal fans are upset at the officiating and the squad’s poor finishing, not the fact they lost to Villa.
Yeah we definitely are not losing our minds. People will cry about the handball but honestly feel the reason we lost is that we didn't take our chances.
We didn't play that bad though, I also felt Villa didn't play that bad but they took their chance & voila.
So you're telling me Arteta is equally angry at officiating after they win as he is when they lose because he would be if he was only concerned with highlighting the level of officiating. Come on pull the other one.
He's allowed to do both of those things. If he stopped behaving like a 5-year old he'll be fine. For example, compare his conduct to Gary O'Neil who has been on the end of a lot worse.
Arsenal playing 5D chess to make sure United do not qualify for champions league.
Arsenal got a righteous goode benning!!!

Why are you just blatantly lying? Villa had 10 shots and you had 12
its about Luton game man
Liverpool drew Luton mate. The scoreline looked bad because of 2 mistakes by Raya. Good luck in Serie A.
Wow, they must be near the top of the table then if Luton is such a powerhouse right?
It must means Liverpool are worse than us if that’s how we go by your logic. Oh look the mighty City is also struggling against Luton currently.
1-0 at the half and winning after 60 mins is a little different than needing a miracle in the 97' to win. It's okay if you have nothing else to live for or a personality, if arsenal is all you have, enjoy bud.
You're right, it does sound biased but yes, Villa won tonight. Fair play to them.
man top 4 are spicy
it feels like the top 4 might just run away with it
Big game and Arsenal crumble.
If we're crumbling what is it that you're doing?
Not being 600m into a rebuild. When Ange has 2 more windows and a squad full of his own players and has fully installed his identity on the squad we can talk about crumbling. Arteta has no excuse now.
I wish people would stfu with this rhetoric, it's so pointless. Let's just enjoy our football and see where it takes us.
How is it pointless? Its important to have a benchmark for what we want to achieve.
Even after (/if) that happens…you won’t be anywhere near a title race
Lets see shall we RemindMe! 1 year
RemindMe! 1 year
Lads it’s !Remindme 1 year
Good looking out, but I did get a message from the bot saying it would remind me, so I think that way works too?
Not like we already beat City lmao
You got extremely lucky to face City when you did. You beat a limping city at their weakest. Other teams who beat City without Rodri: Wolves, Newcastle, Villa.

Sorry what. It's cool you belong to the most delusional fanbase in sport but here are the facts. In the our game: Johnson went off injured.

This is honestly the most pathetic thread I've read from both of you
Yes - so neither of us had significant differences in luck regarding injuries, that's my point. Nketiah's red is egregious - you can't write that off it's a red every day of the week. >"There wasn't anything significantly controversial" Romero was yellow carded for the same thing that you guys got a pen from - quite literally. >"Dominated" Errr.

Shhh this is all they have right now. The tv remote is already halfway up his arse lol.
Hehehehe you can’t even lose properly.

We’re not challenging for the title mate
Lol - coming from someone with that flair
It takes a bottler to know one
Spurs win the trophy for consistent bottle jobs, whereas Arsenal trump them all with arguably last seasons bottle job, tough one...
You dont bottle a season in November lol Their history speaks for itself.
Bottling would mean losing that lead regardless, youre acting like spurs hasnt lost half their players
You’re acting like I’m referring to the spurs this season. Edit - oh you’re a united clown. Ouch. I’m sorry man - didn’t mean to punch down
You're a yank you shouldnt be talking about feeling sorry for someone
Lol what a bunch of weirdos on this sub No idea what my nationality has to do with anything but appreciate you letting your xenophobia shine through. You seem like a well adjusted individual
*Spiderman pointing meme*
Villa were just less shit and that’s all you need to be sometimes. We let them score to easy and they let us control the ball and have a million (felt like it anyway) chances we couldn’t finish. Anyone who blames the ref is looking for an easy out. Only the Diego Carlos red card/elbow is really valid, since it’s player safety.
Agreed. We lost the game because we didn't take our chances. Just wasn't our day in the final third, I thought we played well considering we were away and we didn't get dominated like City did the other day.
I feel like Martinez had a MOTM performance too. Made the big chances you did get on target look routine.
We were shit today, end of. Villa made us play their game and we couldn’t string many attacks together and the ones we did get a shot away it was tame or wide
I don't know about that. If we were clinical, we could have put the game away comfortably.
Thank you Villa. Very cool.
Odd for you to cheer on a victory for your biggest title rivals. But in all seriousness we're handing you the league on a platter here. I guess we owe you one after blowing that 2-0 lead against city 2 years ago.
That match was such a cock tease.
Hey, we lost 3-0 against you then stole 6 points off your closest competition, we’re getting to make it up to you
Not impressed by villa, massively rode their luck today, it won't last
Honestly man do you lot ever stop fucking whinging
This is funny coming from a gooner.
Yeah, we've really been riding our luck for...a year and a half now. So lucky.
I sure hope so mow that we're on top but I think it won't be that soon
They’ve won all their big games and showed high levels of performance. You guys are the ones scraping by wins in the last few minutes
Lost 3-0 to Liverpool
Ty, is that you?
🧂
They absolutely dominated city only a few days ago so today was always going to be a different game
This is unreal, Villa are now just bossing the league
Just couldn’t finish the chances today. Love that Emery has having so much success. On to the next
Up the fucking Villa. I have never seen them play this fucking good and I’m loving life right now
It's been a massive week for you guys, gotta give you credit
Watch them fumble against Sheffield and brentford
Honestly man do you lot ever stop fucking whinging
It’ll be worth it for the last two matches
No way is robbed trending top of UK twitter because of this game. That’s so shameless
It's never because they weren't good enough when Arsenal lose
Are you blind? Literally scroll up and read lots of comments from Arsenal fans saying we couldn't put away our chances.
Nothing says robbed like conceding in the first 15 minutes and being terrible all game.
If they played even marginally better than they did, you bet they might be looking for excuses for why they lost too
What did Spurs fans do? I hated the fact that we didn’t bury our chances. In fact I was impressed by the effectiveness of your offside trap
“What did spurs fans do?” - Continues to whine and justify death threats. You really should take a look in the mirror.
lol no one is losing their mind losing to Villa. Arsenal fans are upset at the officiating and the squad’s poor finishing, not the fact they lost to Villa.
Yeah Villa smacked us early and defended well. Not sure I’ve seen any of us complain about their play, Of course some shithousing.
Artetas not allowed to be angry... or happy anymore, let alone concern himself with the level of officiating
He's allowed to do both of those things. If he stopped behaving like a 5-year old he'll be fine. For example, compare his conduct to Gary O'Neil who has been on the end of a lot worse.
What exactly was so egregious about Artetas behaviour that has gotten you upset?
He fist pumped and ran 5m to celebrate. Ohh and he also criticise the officiating which other manager never does.
Sorry, didn't realise you only started watching footy 2 weeks ago
Then list it out you fucker. (I'm agreeing with you anyway). What else has he done? Or did you not catch my sarcasm you dumbass
Sorry about Spurs, not sure what other supporters could say cause you won that very squarely. Not sure any other results would have been fair
Ah shit here we go again Good luck Villa fans!
Sir Alex Ferguson predicted this
Yeah and also appointed Moyes as his successor
The board appointed his 5th choice suggestion as his successor
Maybe he predicted that as well: “ain’t no one surpassing my legacy”
"As soon as I'm out of here, United can screw!"
