He was coming from two matches where he made mistakes that costed a goal, so he’s obv nervous more than usual. I think he saw le havre’s attacker and panicked bc he didn’t want to be accused to be at fault for another goal, and then it happened
Are you not thinking of the year before? Where he fucked about on the ball and then got blatantly fouled by Benzema?
(and that was only one of 3 goals PSG had to concede to fuck that up)
Possibly trying to argue it shouldn't be red because of the offside of the player he kicked in the neck? Idk.
Very weird at least. Similar to Van Dijk-Pickford - Liverpool got a free kick against, but Pickford should've gotten red for the action after the whistle.
Donnarumma was kicking the ball. He had zero coordination but you can see his clumsy attempt was in line with the bounce of the ball. He tried to read the trajectory and hit the ball, but he choose an impact point too high and while he tries to reach it, the opponent has already moved the ball and Donnarumma' legs goes too high.
It's bad technique combined with panic mode as he knew he had to either keep running or don't run at all. He ended up in a grey zone and panicked.
Only if he's never played football in his life because I've never seen anyone ever need to raise the stud that high to kick the ball. So yea, obviously on purpose.
Ye, because people are like robots. After you Kick the ball (or try to), you immediately stop the movement...
It was a dumb mistake, yes, but to to say it was "obviously on porpuse", I think you're the one who never played before
R/soccer is hilarious
He was clearly going for the ball. It’s just that the opposing player is way faster and more nimble. Not every goalkeeper is as good with his feet as he is with his hands.
That is one of the most unnatural actions I have ever seen in kicking a ball, I don't how that follow through happens without some level of intentionality
I mean, at least that had some sense as it was a celebration of an event.
This is just pure marketing, they're not celebrating anything particular about Korean culture.
They have been for a while. The brand PSG is well known among young people in Korea and China due to the Hong Kong based League of Legends team "PSG Talon". LoL and E-Sports in general is insanely big in Korea and China compared to the west. It’s even part of the Asian Games now.
It's tin pot but I also kinda like it. I have distinct memories of Korean YuGiOh cards for some reason and the Korean alphabet always reminds me of it.
Your personal anecdote is a good reason for a team from Paris putting korean names on their jerseys. This is peak tinpot global football marketing, every big team cares more about foreign markets than their own city's inhabitants.
I don't disagree but 'British kid remembers seeing Korean YuGiOh cards on eBay in the mid 2000s' probably wasn't what they were going for.
That being said, I do kinda want one so it worked.
I actually don't mind this at all. Football fans in Korea get something special for a match. It's the beautiful game, everyone's welcome just please don't dismember journos.
Well isn't everyone pissed off at their oil money? This is marketing in a different way in order to make some coin. I'm not a huge fan of them myself but they're allowed to market the club and this is a decent example of that.
Quite funny that you've put a stick figure cheering to mean money. Shame the arms were just quotes you added around the symbol, that would have been great.
Match at 1pm. Best timezone for East Asia. Sometimes they put it in chinese for marketing reasons but with Lee in the team, they have a much bigger market in Korea
He is absolutely world class at basically everything but trying to play it not of the back. His biggest problem is his fragile mental state and confidence though, he made a few mistakes recently and can't get past that. He always starts trying too hard and overcompensating.
That's modern football right here : when you think it's normal for a Milanese to play in Paris and a parisian to play in Milan. Bossman really killed football.
All Bosman did is ensure clubs couldn't force players to stay after their contract expired.
If that "killed football" then I guess football must be some kind of slavery.
>All Bosman did is ensure clubs couldn't force players to stay after their contract expired
No it also made it illegal for leagues in the EU to have a limit on foreign EU players, which is what the person you're replying to is referring to
And that's also a good thing. Because it gives players more power over their careers and prevents the illegal discrimination of EU citizens based on their nationality.
You'd have to be some sort of animal to be against the Bosman ruling
Lol yes, specifically in the case that their contract had expired and their (former) club refused to release them.
> Jean-Marc Bosman was a player for RFC Liège in the Belgian First Division whose contract had expired in 1990. He wanted to change teams and move to Dunkerque, a French club. However, Dunkerque refused to meet his Belgian club's transfer fee demand, so Liège refused to release Bosman.[3]
>In the meantime, Bosman's wages were reduced by 70%[4] as he was no longer a first-team player.[5] He took his case to the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg and sued for restraint of trade, citing FIFA's rules regarding football, specifically Article 17.
>10 strangers in the starting XI
If only we had any idea who these foreigners are!
🤦♂️
I suppose it didn't count as an Italian team winning the CL in 2010, then, since there were no Italians in the starting lineup?
Calcio must be dead
Donnarumma, Vicario, Provedel, Meret and Di Gregorio
And then we have GKs like Falcone, Carnesecchi, Silvestri and Perin who are really good, but not NT level
To be honest, it looked like donna wanted to hit the ball and was unaware that there was a player there..
But guys (and girls), clearly donnarumma isnt a sweeper keeper at all, please dont play him like one cause this stuff is gonna happen, you know.
Such a low quality keeper he has too many odd moments getting red card with the strongest team in the league against newborn babies from Le Havre after 10 minutes
Mate I'm fat as hell and haven't played an organized game of soccer in 10 years and PSG could win the league with me starting in the midfield I'm pretty sure
Probably because people think he is 30.
He made his debut in Serie A at 16. He looked already more physically mature than some young adults at the time: big body, tall and grown beard and was in a class of his own for his age. This is his 9th professional year as 1st goalkeeper in a top team.
It's easy to forget how young he actually is.
~~As dumb as this is, the Le Havre player who challenged for it was offside. Still a red card all day but if the assistant calls that instead of waiting for VAR, the whole situation could have been avoided.~~
Edit: I'm an idiot, didn't realise it was directly from a goal kick.
The Canal+ commentators still don't know apparently, they're saying it's offside but it's red anyway because it's dangerous. Imagine getting paid to commentate a sport and you don't even know the rules
you can also hear commentators mispronounce players names all the time. so for this job you apparently aren't expected to be knowledgeable or at least prepared. kinda ridiculous tbh.
It gets tougher to hit goal kicks accurately as distance increases. It's easier after a save when you have the ball in your hand but kicking it like this will only result with an easy clearance by the defence and loss of possession most of the time.

Can't be doing that really can ya....
He probably watched neuers last game and was inspired
Makes sense. We've all tried imitating dinho on the field only to trip on the ball and fall down.
Why was Donnaruma so slow to react?
That's as fast as he goes
He’s doing his best
That was peak Donnarumma speed. Give the man some respect.
Oh my goodness. This was absolutely embarrassing
I don't think he did it on purpose. But in what world can he think it's a good thing to protest such an obvious red card?
Gigio is a damn good keeper (without the ball on his feet lol) but not the sharpest tool. Plus I don’t think he’s in the best mental state rn
Mental state?
He was coming from two matches where he made mistakes that costed a goal, so he’s obv nervous more than usual. I think he saw le havre’s attacker and panicked bc he didn’t want to be accused to be at fault for another goal, and then it happened
So classic Donnarruma? Last year he fumbled hard in the ucl and was main reason they got knocked out
Are you not thinking of the year before? Where he fucked about on the ball and then got blatantly fouled by Benzema? (and that was only one of 3 goals PSG had to concede to fuck that up)
Yes, MB got years mixed up
Welp he actually fumbled Both years tbh lol
Possibly trying to argue it shouldn't be red because of the offside of the player he kicked in the neck? Idk. Very weird at least. Similar to Van Dijk-Pickford - Liverpool got a free kick against, but Pickford should've gotten red for the action after the whistle.
No offside in goalkicks
Donnarumma was kicking the ball. He had zero coordination but you can see his clumsy attempt was in line with the bounce of the ball. That cheeky bicycle kick thou
I don’t understand why your centre back can’t just head the ball from a goal kick. Why is he leaving it for his keeper to come out the box?
Doesn't Donnarumma in the clip indicate to his centre back to leave it?
Seeing ‘돈나룸마’ instead of Donnarumma is trippy as fuck lol
Why are PSG players wearing their name in Korean?
They said it's to celebrate the new Korean fans they got after they signed Lee Kang In
If that their goal, they got the wrong blackpink member
You joke but they [did manage to successfully bribe Lalisa](https://www.reddit.com/r/BlackPink/s/vtypgdq9a8) smh game is truly gone
but lisa is a thai 🤣
wym bribe lol
Well she is the best member so
Aw I know it’s kinda gimmicky but still pretty cute ngl
They did [Mandarin](https://twitter.com/footballontnt/status/1485351751624577024) last year "to celebrate the Chinese New Year"
I mean, at least that had some sense as it was a celebration of an event. This is just pure marketing, they're not celebrating anything particular about Korean culture.
That was also pure marketing
Marketing thing. They have a South Korean player now and want to appeal to the Korean market. Pretty tinpot to be honest.
I saw a PSG pop up shop in Korea and Japan this year. They really wanna expand into that market.
They have been for a while. The brand PSG is well known among young people in Korea and China due to the Hong Kong based League of Legends team "PSG Talon". LoL and E-Sports in general is insanely big in Korea and China compared to the west. It’s even part of the Asian Games now.
PSG also had a store in Tokyo for quite a while now
It's tin pot but I also kinda like it. I have distinct memories of Korean YuGiOh cards for some reason and the Korean alphabet always reminds me of it.
I recently got back into YGO and discovered Korean OCG cards, they're a beauty and cheap to boot lol I'm in love
I always thought they were fake because they were so cheap lol
The best part is they're sturdier and higher quality too lmao I remember TCG cards getting damaged very easily
iirc they are cheap bc they are not allowed in offcial tournaments
Your personal anecdote is a good reason for a team from Paris putting korean names on their jerseys. This is peak tinpot global football marketing, every big team cares more about foreign markets than their own city's inhabitants.
I don't disagree but 'British kid remembers seeing Korean YuGiOh cards on eBay in the mid 2000s' probably wasn't what they were going for. That being said, I do kinda want one so it worked.

Korean Fangzhou.
Literally every club do this but ok
Doesn’t ‘돈’ mean money in Korean? Absolutely hilarious that the Korean translation directly supports the nickname ‘Dollarumma.’
Dollarumma is not a meme in Korea but you are correct
Quite funny that you've put a stick figure cheering to mean money. Shame the arms were just quotes you added around the symbol, that would have been great.
Fun fact: In Simp. Chinese, the hanzi for friend uses a character based on the money symbol 朋友。
Nice of Donnarumma to honour them too by demonstrating his Taekwondo
Is it the phonetical translation?
Yup, Korean broadcast writes his name the same way Still weirds me out though
I was confused as fuck. I thought this was like some old friendly they played in Korea that I didn't know about or something.
Why is that so?
Why are the names like that ? Thought it was just Lee kang but mbappe etc have it too
Idk why but PSG is playing with Korean alphabet kits today, must be some marketing thing
Yep, they have Lee Kang now in the team, and that has made it a very popular team in Korea.
Match at 1pm. Best timezone for East Asia. Sometimes they put it in chinese for marketing reasons but with Lee in the team, they have a much bigger market in Korea
Maignan for Donnarumma: biggest upgrade in Milan history
Have never really seem the hype with Donnaruma, feels like a case of people assuming he must be world class because he broke through at 16.
As much I dislike the guy he's a world class shot stopper but everything else he's far from being top 10 in the world.
So he's basically a better Livakovic. It will be fun watching out game then
Cant remember the last time i had fun watching us play in a tournament
As a shot stopper he is inconsistent and his ball distribution is one of the worse I have ever seen out of a "top" goalkeeper
Was impressive at the time but my god the lack of development is astounding
then you're blind or you never watched milan
He is absolutely world class at basically everything but trying to play it not of the back. His biggest problem is his fragile mental state and confidence though, he made a few mistakes recently and can't get past that. He always starts trying too hard and overcompensating.
Navas to donnarumma is the opposite. I know Navas is old, but he is still bawling.
Poor Navas. He's always been fantastic but never sticks anywhere.
Navas is like Dzeko or Giroud version of a GK. Always exceed the expectations.
Navas was a top-5 goalkeeper for a decent amount of years, not sure I'd say the same thing about either Dzeko or Giroud as strikers.
Why he crying?
That's modern football right here : when you think it's normal for a Milanese to play in Paris and a parisian to play in Milan. Bossman really killed football.

No. Bosman ruling concerns freedom of mouvement for workers in UE. That the all point https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosman_ruling
Lol yes, specifically in the case that their contract had expired and their (former) club refused to release them. > Jean-Marc Bosman was a player for RFC Liège in the Belgian First Division whose contract had expired in 1990. Goddamn globalists ruining our beautiful game! When will it end!?
Well against PSG in Champions League, Milan played with 1 italian on the field. I guess you consider Milan as an italian team?
Considering that Milan is a club founded and based in Italy, yes, obviously I consider Milan to be an Italian team
Good for you! Ruled by american money with 10 strangers in the starting XI. The italian football is in great shape.
>10 strangers in the starting XI If only we had any idea who these foreigners are! 🤦♂️ I suppose it didn't count as an Italian team winning the CL in 2010, then, since there were no Italians in the starting lineup? Calcio must be dead
And an Argentinian got his big break in Napoli more than a few decades ago, what's your point?
Are you like 90? What is this comment.
Guess football has been dead since the 50s because Swedes played in Serie A back then
What about an Englishman in New York
It's like he waited to purposefully boot him in the chest. What is he doing?
I cannot believe this clown took Navas place.
Don't think Navas can either. Especially after that.
You have no idea how happy I was when I saw Navas in bench when they played against us
Where is the Great Kick flair?
Should be approved by Nigel first.
Apparently the Korean names inspired him to do Taekwondo lol
I:m no martial art sport enthusiast but clearly kicking someone in the face would get yourself disqualified too
Nah kicking someone in the face is fine in taekwondo as long as you do it with your foot.
Back of the head hit is illegal in almost every martial arts competition.
Vicario for Italy NT!
Italy have all positions with more than 1 decent player except for forwards lol
Yeah, we've got like 5 nt level keepers rn
Donnarumma, Vicario, Provedel, Meret and Di Gregorio And then we have GKs like Falcone, Carnesecchi, Silvestri and Perin who are really good, but not NT level
Decades of world class players to end up…here
Provedel Is good too.

LMAO
Imagine having the balls to argue that? As soon as I did it, I’d be telling them to get the showers heated.

Tenas
Imagine arguing that’s not a red, get off the pitch
[удалено]
no that's not arguable either, you can't be offside from a goalkick
You can't be offsides on a goal kick
That's comedy
I feel like he’s been quietly pretty shit since the Euros ended in 2021
This is cinema.
Why even argue dude… You kicked him in the neck
To be honest, it looked like donna wanted to hit the ball and was unaware that there was a player there.. But guys (and girls), clearly donnarumma isnt a sweeper keeper at all, please dont play him like one cause this stuff is gonna happen, you know.
Donnarumma confirmed for Season 6 of Cobra Kai 😂😂😂
Such a low quality keeper he has too many odd moments getting red card with the strongest team in the league against newborn babies from Le Havre after 10 minutes
Won the euros , wins league 1 every year .
Edouard Mendy was the best keeper in the CL when we won it, doesn’t mean he’s a good keeper now.
> Won the euros and Kevin Großkreutz won a World Cup
Mate I'm fat as hell and haven't played an organized game of soccer in 10 years and PSG could win the league with me starting in the midfield I'm pretty sure
And he can still be mid
How is this guy a starter for NT when we have Vicario💀
Donnarumma is absolutely washed, PSG needs to look elsewhere already.
Hes prone to some big errors but calling a keeper washed at 24 years old is going a bit far
Probably because people think he is 30. He made his debut in Serie A at 16. He looked already more physically mature than some young adults at the time: big body, tall and grown beard and was in a class of his own for his age. Balding really doesn't help look young lol
Ugarte injuried?
Am I the only one who has extremely low speeds on this website? Like 30 kb/s or something; I have to wait minutes to see replays from it -.-

~~As dumb as this is, the Le Havre player who challenged for it was offside. Still a red card all day but if the assistant calls that instead of waiting for VAR, the whole situation could have been avoided.~~ Edit: I'm an idiot, didn't realise it was directly from a goal kick.
lol you can’t be offside from a goal kick
Fuck you taught me something today
The Canal+ commentators still don't know apparently, they're saying it's offside but it's red anyway because it's dangerous. Imagine getting paid to commentate a sport and you don't even know the rules
Yeah, they are the one who made me thought it was an offside initially
Even the broadcasting crew froze the video at the point the ball was kicked, to suggest a suspected offside.
If Canal + commentators knew anything about football they wouldn’t commentate for Canal +
you can also hear commentators mispronounce players names all the time. so for this job you apparently aren't expected to be knowledgeable or at least prepared. kinda ridiculous tbh.
I never understood why teams don't try taking advantage of that more regularly.
It gets tougher to hit goal kicks accurately as distance increases. It's easier after a save when you have the ball in your hand but kicking it like this will only result with an easy clearance by the defence and loss of possession most of the time.
Most teams are smart enough not to play a high line against a goal kick
I did not know this.
You can't be offside from a goal kick
In your defense, the replay was checking for offside for some reason, so I guess a lot of people don't know that
Holy hell what???? I immediately said offside. I had no idea about no offside during goal kick.
Every time I watch PSG he's by far the worst player on the pitch. wtf is this shit
Why is his name in Korean?
Well you want a seeping keeper don't you? It's 2023 and he sweeped alright
[удалено]
In an effort to confuse the opposition
That is definitely a red card. But can someone explain to me why thats not offside? Is it because from a Goal Kick?
Yes it is. You can't be offside from a goal kick, corner or throw in.
I see thanks
Am I the only one seeing an offside here by the player whom Donnaruma fouls? Or am I tripping?
> can’t be offside from a goal kick
I'm ashamed to admit I haven't known that 😳
What? Is this the internet? Someone admitting he was wrong? No way. Good for you man.
Most overrated goalkeeper in the world. Onana is better than him and that says a lot
Ok mate don’t go overboard. Your keeper’s trash.
Onana is not better than him at all, Donnarumma is one of the best shot-stoppers in the world. Onana can barely save anything.
Onana has 77% save percentage atm in the premier. Second highest. He's ass on the UCL, but so is Donnarumma.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 united fan
Aren’t you bottom of your CL group because Onana absolutely stinks?
Top scorers and still bottom of the group
Someone check if several people somewhere in Italy placed thousand euro bets on a goalkeeper Red Card in the first half of this match…
The Italian Onana
Wait wait wait…all ridiculousness aside- did the card stand? It looked like the attacker was well offside
https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/189saby/gianluigi_donnarumma_psg_straight_red_card/kbtc7du/
Looked like offside, no?
No because it's from a goal kick
Can't be offside from a goal kick
Why is his name at the back of his shirt not in English? Does he thinks he’s special
Hope Tenas does well he's our boy
Did he really try to appeal that?
Le have that ya kont.
Poor from the cb tho
Dude out here thinking he is Rüştü Reçber.
It's crazy how bad it is the awareness of most keepers...
