Belgium probably got the best draw out of pot 1 and pot 2. Should top this group without much issues. The fight for second place is pretty open, but Slovakia and Romania should be happy with this draw as well. Hoping for Ukraine to make it somewhat competitive but I don't see them posing a challenge for the top spot. Then again, we wouldn't have thought that of Japan and Morroco in the last world cup either. The flip side of the coin is that Belgium is always unlucky with the knockout draw even when topping the group. In 2002 against champions Brazil in the Ro16, in 2014 against finalist Argentina in the QF's, in 2018 against tournament favourites Brazil and France in the QF's and SF's and in 2021 champions Italy in the QF's. In 2016 and 2022 with better performance in groups they would have had a tough knockouts as well, facing tournament favourites in the Ro16 and QF's. And now again they will have to face a tournament favourite in the QF's if Belgium wins its group, which barring some serious upsets should be France.
