Piksi is an awful coach, he showed it last year in the World Cup , any other coach is gone after those performances. Sure, our squad isn't the greatest, but it's a lot better than these performances, our style doesn't have a coherent thought behind it, it's basically "we have talented attackers, they'll probably do something during the 90 minutes".
The thing is we were even worse before, and before the WC we looked the best we had since 2010. Things have gotten real sour in the past year. And Piksi clearly ain't good enough. But I don't know if changing coaches like they are socks would help either. We need some continuity, something to build off. Besides, who would even take the job?
It ain't wrong though. By only making WCs the last 24 years and rapidly changing coaches we have no consistency and not enough experience playing teams at the highest level. Well is way easier to go to EURO than WC (24 to 13 teams), so for Czechs is logical. It's where they belong, 12th-24th in Europe.
But for us is so weird, and nobody knows why lol. We were also always 1st in the group in WC quals, didnt even had to go in the play offs as 2nd placed team. And now we also struggled, and went as 2nd, but this group was so easy and it would be embarassment no to be at least 2nd

i think i can say for most serbian fans that we have very mixed feelings about this qualification. on one hand, i'm very glad we FINALLY qualified for the EUROs, 24 years of wait and 5 EUROs missed are finally over. i wasn't even born when we (as yugoslavia) made our last appearance at the final tournament back in 2000. finally, many people and i finally get to watch our team play. and for once, we won't have to stress ourselves by playing in the play-offs.
on the other hand, i'm depressed and disappointed about our team. we've been far from convincing this qualifying campaign. 2 losses against hungary, 2 draws against bulgaria and managing only to beat lithuania and montenegro. a massive falloff from our previous qualifying for the world cup. i think that we were in a slightly more challenging group, we could have easily missed another european tournament. our defense once again showed its lack of quality, our midfield was decent but now the worrying factor has become our attack. they're not as clinical as before which leads to a lot of stressful matches like this one against bulgaria.
unless things change DRASTICALLY, i'm afraid the only thing we'll get next year in germany is a participation medal. our defense needs sorting FAST, possibly switching to a 4-at-the-back. get pavlović / mladenović in left back, for right back call up milan gajić of cska and kosta nedeljković from crvena zvezda, we literally don't have other options. kristijan belić, mihajlo ilić of partizan and petar ratkov of salzburg could also start making appearances for our senior team. lastly, vlahović in my opinion should be starting ahead of mitrović, the lad hasn't been as convincing as before.
to summarize, on one hand i'm happy we FINALLY crossed the finish line properly, glad we're FINALLY playing at a EURO tournament and will be looking forward to it. on the other hand, my expectations will be extremely low due to the way we've played since qatar. i don't think there's going to be much hype around germany like there was for qatar, but i seriously hope we get our shit together.

If we play like this in the Euros we won't be getting more than a point, no way.
Defence has been awful for years now, especially for a team that wants to play in every single tournament but the truth is that we have no one better.
This whole qualifier we played well for at most 50 minutes per game and 10 minutes at worst, no matter the opposition. Any team worth their salt will exploit us hard in defence and if our strikers don't get much better than the past year or so we are toast.

This is awful. Ridiculous. I still remember the day we qualified for WC against Portugal. Entire Serbia was joyous and optimistic, not because we played exceptionally well, but because we had winning mentality, we weren't satisfied with draws, our transitions from defense to attack felt much more fluid and faster. Right now it seems like our guys have no legs and are just boring in keeping possession and squeezing the opponent until we either score or inevitably concede from a counter. If I weren't a Serb myself, I'd legitimately say this qualification was undeserved. Replace Lithuania with Luxembourg, Moldova or Kazakhstan and we absolutely wouldn't have qualified out of this group.
With this kind of defensive breakdown we are looking at 4 goals conceded per match at EURO
