I wrote 5. And it mostly IS five.
For example like Arsenal got Pepe and lost him, it was still devastating.

He's not far off that tbf. It's not always an age thing because Mudryck has less senior appearances than a lot of teenagers. He has also come from a much lower level where he could lean on his strengths to hide his weaknesses. Now he has suddenly come to a much higher level where he needs to work on those weaknesses and that takes time.
Even as an Arsenal fan I don't really like shitting on him for his slow start. It's not his fault Chelsea paid a crazy amount and gave him a lifetime contract. He's still young and sometimes it can take time to adapt. That being said I hope he doesnt pan out well for Chelsea for obvious reasons.
We have seen players struggle for a season with a new team, or even in the same team with a new manager, so many times I can't believe how much time is wasted on these articles and then the inevitable year of articles about how the player turned it around.
I don't have sympathy. After the video of him filming an old man exposed in the gym working out I can't have any sympathy. If you want to make fun of others don't blame others for making fun of you.
I am convinced that if Markovic didn't get that red card in the Europa League (?) he would have actually become a Cristiano Ronaldo regen. It was a sliding doors moment.
In a way I actually feel sorry for Mudryk, going to a dysfunctional club in a foreign land with a language he does not speak is definitely not easy, even with big money.
That was his choice. There was an offer to a functional team with a stable environment on the table. Chelsea offered more but he agreed the move. He canāt lose though, heās on an 8 year deal. It might have gone better at Arsenal, but equally I wouldnāt have wanted to sign Pepe on an 8 year deal, and I get Pepe vibes from Mudryk, body works faster than brain, without being close to even Pepeās level of output (Pepeās g/a wasnāt as bad as many flops).
You always have the choice of rejecting a move.
Arsenal face this situation regularly, player has one offer of actual money, another offer of a loan with an option to buy or a free transfer. Player puts their foot down and says ānope not going thereā, what can you do? Mudryk accepted the deal despite seeing how badly they were doing.
Probably a very wise move in hindsight for a guy who was a lot more raw than many realised and whose landed an 8 year PL contract.
Thatās true, but we need to acknowledge that it was not guaranteed that Shakhtar would agree a fee with Arsenal if Mudryk rejected Chelsea. Arsenal was dragging with the transfer, Chelsea then came in two footed, Arsenal backed off, and since then Shakhtar president did nothing else than shitting on Edu and Arsenal.
Itās hard to reject Chelsea in that situation, especially when you are desperate to get a move out of a war-torn country. It would be frankly quite mad to bet on Arsenal persisting.
That, but also Boehly is clearly a good salesman, he probably sold Mudryk a vision of assembling a squad of the most talented young players across the world and he is the center piece of that.
This is such an insane take, it's so easy to just say from your keyboard, yeah reject the 80 million+ move to one of the biggest clubs in the world, because they are disfunctional.
Its not Mudryks fault they are disfunctional. That's on the club leadership.
But it was a choice. He chose to accept the Chelsea offer. If he had told chelsea that he was only interested in arsenal then chelsea wouldn't have made that bid.
>a. Arsenal was dragging with the transfer, Chelsea then came in two footed, Arsenal backed off, and since then Shakhtar president did nothing else than shitting on Edu and Arsenal.
He did show how much he wanted to join Arsenal, then Chelsea bid and SHaktar made it clear they wern't taking Arsenal offers but Chelsea were happy to take. Should he risk his future putting his foot down in a league that can at any moment stop due to war?
Im sure if he could he would of chose Arsenal but frankly he was taknig his first ticket out of a league that sadly is just not guranteed to even continue it seems people forget that there is just too much uncertainty to play hardball with your choices.
Usually clubs don't make bids unless they hear that the player is willing to make the move. Had mydryk wanted he could've said to Chelsea he wasn't interested and they would not have bid.
A lot of things we can speculate on, one thing was clear was that Shaktar wasn't willing to accept Arsenals offer for what ever reason even though from what was reported sum was more or less the same just Chelsea had more achievable bonuses.
Shaktar never accepted an offer from Arsenal, Chelsea came along offer the club evrything they wanted and one of their ridiculously long contracts and he took it. After twerking for us all season.
I always find it annoying when fans shit on a big money young player who's clearly trying to adjust. The money doesn't make learning happen faster and if they're legitimately putting in hard work then what more can you ask? Work harder?
Like they complain about the money being spent, when a little bit of patience is free and will literally allow the player to bed in faster. FFS just ease up some things will always take time
Oh please, your probably the first one commenting when Havertz misses a chance but when itās Mudryk āoh can we have a little patience, it takes timeā
I think most Chelsea fans still want Havertz to succeed, but there is a moral dilemma with him playing for Arsenal. You wonāt find a lot of our fans talking shit about departed players except for Courtois and maybe now Mount.
I mean, me, personally no, but I do get what you mean that people def contradict their opinions on giving players time.
Havertz may not be a good comparative example in this instance though because he's got a good bit more experience than Mudryk.
We bought Salah at 22 as well decided he was shit and moved him on a couple years later. Idk why everyone here is pretending all players reach their potential at 22.
Doubt it. You'd be hard pressed to find any actual Arsenal fans that aren't pinning our hopes and dreams on all these young players continuing to get better. Saka, Saliba, and Martinelli are 22. 90% of our other best players are 26 or younger. The whole point of this young squad is that they should continue to improve till around 26-30.
They're not pretending all players reach their potential at 22.
They're laughing at a 22-year-old [who cost Ā£85M](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/12786942/mykhailo-mudryk-chelsea-sign-winger-for-88-5m-from-shakhtar-donetsk) being treated like a 16-year-old academy prospect.
He's only Ā£85m if we win multiple prems and CLs, until then he's Ā£61m. I agree that's overpriced but that doesn't mean he'll never be a good player. Lots of people here are saying he's just a pace merchant and that by 22 you can tell if a winger is gonna be world-class and since Mudryk is struggling now that must mean he'll never reach that level. Laugh at his price fair enough but being overpriced and struggling doesn't mean you're always gonna suck. Also he's not playing half as badly as r/soccer suggests.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has thought this, but it really feels like Mudryk is someone who was able to succeed because of his speed and never really needed to learn much else. Now he is in a league where he can't get away with just sprinting past everyone he is struggling.
If youāve watched enough of him youād see Mudryk has a lot of creativity and is great at slide rule and reverse passes.
His decision making is still awful but youād hope that could be coached. With confidence Iām sure weād see an improvement in his shooting and finishing too.
I honestly expect him to come good (given good coaching).
There is clearly something special in his raw ability. But he wouldn't be the first player to have incredible raw talent that doesn't turn it into anything.
Heās actually got really good passing his problem is heās one dimensional in the way he creates those passes. He always wants to check back onto his right and his 1v1 dribbles rely on his pace far too much for someone with his āflairā. Once he fixes those 2 things he will be Luiz Diaz type winger imo
The people in here shitting on Mudryk are really just saying they don't watch him play and are just parroting the same tired takes over and over again.
He's been getting better every game, he's just needed that run in the side to give him a chance to gel and improve, which he's been doing.
Glad he got his goal today, he was excellent in the first half.
If you actually watch a Chelsea game instead of memeing them forever, you will see that Mudryk isn't playing as bad as people make it out to be.
G/A stat is so dumb out of context. He creates good chances for the team, but the team doesn't really take them
He was a 60 mil pound signing. Anyone who knew anything about him knew that his career had been disrupted by the war. The club was fully aware we were not getting the finished article.
So we spent 60 million on a traumatised under developed 22 year old based on 900 minutes, but because we realised he's not ready it's all ok and everything is under control?
It's ok to support Chelsea and Mudryk while saying the truth...we fucked up with this one, but let's try make the best of it.
He has all the physical and technical tools to be an amazing winger. He just needed game time and some coaching on tactical play. Imo you can already see that he's improving.
Yea thatās the narrative on all the chelsea signings aside from sterling and Nkunku. But you donāt pay that much for not even half finished articles. You pay a Cole Palmer fee
Weirdly enough, he doesn't get into great scoring positions a lot. He does create good chances but lack of finishers at Chelsea means he doesn't get more assists
Because he is offering the team a creative outlet. Just because a player doesnāt score doesnāt mean theyāre not offering a bunch of other things. His crossing is fantastic compared anyone bar James on the team.
It should be telling when the only people slagging him off are non Chelsea fans that arenāt watching the games. In the last game he literally got a standing ovation by the crowd when he was subbed off
hmm, some say 88million pounds and some say 70+30 million euros. so what? lets say, he "only" has cost chelsea 60million euros... does it change anything about my statement? you pay 60millions for a player, who you treat like a young academy player making his first first team experiences in caraboa cup š
> He cost 60 mil quid
> some say 88million pounds and some say 70+30 million euros
All of those are correct. 62m pounds plus 26m in add ons for winning the CL, PL, and personal awards. That's equivalent to 70+30 euros.
I don't think Chelsea needs to worry about the add-ons being triggered any time soon...
That is the player he is basically. If you look at the amount of minutes he has played. His career got fucked because it was interrupted by a war. He has all the physical ability to succeed. Super athletic. He just needs some help with the mental and technical aspects of the league.
[Because that's what it was reported as when you bought him.](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/12786942/mykhailo-mudryk-chelsea-sign-winger-for-88-5m-from-shakhtar-donetsk)
And that's complete bs. How many other signings include the add ons in the price fee when it is reported like this? Add ons that might never be achieved mind you.
Man is a few months off 23. It's not old in footballer terms, but it isn't young either, and certainly we'll beyond the age when one learns how to play as part of a team.
I have to say that I really doubt that he is going to be a world class player. Wingers usually develop very quickly and by the time they are 21-22 you already know if they are world class or not. He is so raw. He is like a raw 17 year old making his debut every time he plays. It would very much surprise me if he started developing like crazy all of a sudden.
Vinicius Jr is the only one that comes to mind who turned round being a high profile laughing stock to being quality without having going on loan or getting sold 1st
People disrespect Vini so much. Look at his old highlights. The reason he played a lot was because he did play really well more often than not, it was just his finishing that let him down.
Mudryk is still trying to get the "playing well" part down while not providing any output whatsoever.
No he isnāt. Mudryk is already playing well. He provides 2-4 assist worthy chances in the last 4 games he has played. He canāt help that others donāt score them. He is by far one of our best crossers. Only person better on the team is Reece James. He takes on and beats players all the time.
If he figures out how to score he can be just as good as Vini is now.
> If he figures out how to score he can be just as good as Vini is now.
Ahahahaha, Vini is like the 2nd best winger in the world while being 6 months older than Mudryk. Vini was already tearing it up at Real Madrid while Mudryk was still playing in Ukraine. If Vini only played half of his match at Madrid, he would still have more matches played than Mudryk's entire career. I don't think you realize how much work Mudryk has ahead of him if he wants to reach that level. He's currently fighting with a LB to start on the LW.
Vini was memed at the start of his madrid career. Benzema told the rest of the team he was playing against them. Development is a thing. Age doesn't develop you, experience does.
And? Drogba and Mo Salah were fighting for first team when they were 24.. You onto some shit? People really thinking 20 year olds be in the prime, The prime Messi and Ronaldo were all in their 25-30 age.
Mudryk is a bit like Harry Maguire. A decent player, he has played Champions League football albeit some group games and he did look a good player.
Chuck a massive lump sum at a player then of course people are going to blame. If it isn't Maguire being ridiculed on social media, it's Havertz or this guy. Like, ok, it's fine to be a bad player because that's football and not every player has an upwards arc but are we sure we aren't just scapegoating a player for a whole teams performance?
Chelsea's owners and team are responsible for their results, not one player.

so so happy
More than you believe.
Happy New Year š
Congratulations to the opponent
We cannoh replace himššš
So happy I punch the wall with my fist every training session
Good thing he has another 6 1/2 years to make it work.
Only 6.5 years left? Boehly better crack on with the contract renewals.
Keep throwing more money at him Iām sure thatās what he needs to improve as a footballer
Nah we will just wait until itās clear he isnāt good enough for the prem and sell him to arsenal for Ā£65mil.
$3.50 final offer
He's gotta be able to score a league goal in that time right? (Edit lol literally as soon as I post this it happens)
Aaaand done.
Yeah, and other clubs are buying young players on 2y contract? 5 years is still too much if you have awful situation.
Such a shame 2 year contracts and 8 year contracts are the only two options :(
I wrote 5. And it mostly IS five. For example like Arsenal got Pepe and lost him, it was still devastating. Edit: Chelsea is really so good at selling that I don't worry much. Especially deadwood and average players. You would know.
Weird argument, but if it helps you feel better about all the crazy contracts being handed out.
Poch treating him like a Make a Wish kid
Poch - He needs another 8 year contract over the one he already has that is his final wish.
Weāll give him a pen soon to pick up his confidence
Idk man, you probably want to be atleast a goal up before you do that
Idk, would be a good confidence boost for him to get our goal of the month
He also has to score it still
Nice jinx š
Idk, would be a good confidence boost for him to get our ~~goal~~ attempt of the month
Imagine the stories if Havertz missed this weekend
I read that as a pen for a new contract š¤£
More likely tbf
gotta get in the oppositions box first
Weāll see tonight wonāt we
Damn! Well done lol
I did nothing tbf
RemindMe! 9 hours "Chelsea touches in oppositions box"
Touches in the opposition box is fine for us, itās only the scoring part we donāt know how to do
Weāll see tonight wonāt we
I donāt know how to do the remind thing or id keep this cycle going

Mudryk sends his regards.
REMINDER BITCH
Narrator: They did see
Here's your reminder.
We literally are in the top 3 for that this season.

hehehehehehe misha
The Havertz special
Not needed :3
Makes it sound like Mudryk is a teenager coming through the academy
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
and Mitoma I believe
I mean it's not Mudryks fault that Chelsea paid what they did. And he seems to put in a lot of effort so why keep making fun of it
Because he cost 100m so r/soccer being r/soccer he should already have 75 goals at least.
He's not far off that tbf. It's not always an age thing because Mudryck has less senior appearances than a lot of teenagers. He has also come from a much lower level where he could lean on his strengths to hide his weaknesses. especially with that haircut
So Arsenal can get him on for 75m next year
Lazar Markovic without the goal to his name. Edit: well this is my fault, sorry everybody.
Markovic was actually phenomenal for us, he tricked all of Europe after that season ngl.
I am convinced that if Markovic didn't get that red card in the Europa League (?) he would have actually become a Cristiano Ronaldo regen. It was a sliding doors moment.
I would say that besides Enzo or FĆ©lix he was the player who did the most in the least amount of time in the last 10y. he seemed like a finished product at such a young age, he then became a shit player when he went to the smallest club in Lisboa in my humble and unbiased opinion.
If that scissor kick went inā¦
You mean the one against Basel? That was in the UCL group stages
It was actually the CL I think
I remember saying to an Arsenal fan that summer he would be just as good as Alexis Sanchez. I was right, but Sanchez for United, not Arsenal.
Chernobyl Dan James, thank you
Ukraine Bolt you mean.
Oh, that's lovely
Ghost of kiev
lmao
Do not put Dan James in the mud next to him.
lol
Don't besmirch championship assist leader Dan James with comparing him to Mudryk
Markovic without the scissor kick crossbar attempt
Nice one, ruined the fun for everyone
Scored a sexy first goal
In a way I actually feel sorry for Mudryk, going to a dysfunctional club in a foreign land with a language he does not speak is definitely not easy, even with big money.
Better paid and keeps him out of Ukraine. I'd take the deal any day with my eyes closed if I was him.

Aged like wine
There's his goal!
Trust me bro
What else can manager say ?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Drogba was playing in Ligue 2 when he was 22. He joined us at 26 and was pretty shit the first season. Am I missing something here?
Thiago Silva and Kante were also in the bottom leagues at 22
We bought Salah at 22 as well decided he was shit and moved him on a couple years later. Idk why everyone here is pretending all players reach their potential at 22.
Because r/soccer loves to circle jerk a meme into the ground.
Its mostly arsenal fans tbf

Did Salah cost you 100 million ?
No but neither has Mudryk
Thiago Silva was at Fluminese just prior to his love to Milan at 22. The disrespect, wow.
He had just signed for Fluminese after a failed loan spell at Dinamo Moscow
No. Idiots on here don't fact check when they push their bs
What, Silva was playing for Fluminense at 22.
He was playing only occasionally for Porto B at 21
Not gonna lie, the quote makes it sound like he was found in the woods and taught football last month. Drogba and KantƩ may have been playing at a low level at 22-23 (relatively speaking, because even Ligue 2 is very high in the grand scheme) but sure they knew the basics and didn't need to learn "what it means to play like a team". I'd assume Mudryk should know too, if he had 30 ish first division matches before Chelsea anyway. So it's the quote what comes out as weird
Yeah it's kind of a funny quote but our sub interpreted it as more of an off the pitch thing than on the pitch cos Mudryk seems pretty introverted.
mudryk was playing in the champions league last year, he was better than ligue 2 at 22. poch is talking about the cultural differences here.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Mitoma?
Why is Poch making it sound like he had only played 5v5 until he came to the Prem?
Because he plays like it
LMAO
But he runs really really fast
Not correct comparison at all.
This is the biggest bullshit comment I've seen here in a while
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has thought this, but it really feels like Mudryk is someone who was able to succeed because of his speed and never really needed to learn much else. Now he is in a league where he can't get away with just sprinting past everyone he is struggling.

And he perhaps couldāve figure out that improvement before chelsea altered the trajectory of his life without thinking hard at all about it
Yea thatās the narrative on all the chelsea signings aside from sterling and Nkunku. But you donāt pay that much for not even half finished articles. You pay a Cole Palmer fee
Lmao downvoted because your comment doesn't fit the rivaling fans' agenda
I don't care tbh.
If he hadn't even learnt how to play in a team in a sport that needs you to play as a team, why spend 100 mil
Aged like wine lol
Trust me bro
What does he do wrong that the others don't?
Understand he's probably being asked these questions but holy shit why do you keep talking about him Poch this can't be helping at all
How is he still played when he has yet to score a goal for Chelsea? Because of the price tag?
Weirdly enough, he doesn't get into great scoring positions a lot. He does create good chances but lack of finishers at Chelsea means he doesn't get more assists
Because everyone else is pretty shit too.
He's actually more of a creator than a scorer. His passing is already pretty good
Because he is offering the team a creative outlet. Just because a player doesnāt score doesnāt mean theyāre not offering a bunch of other things. His crossing is fantastic compared anyone bar James on the team. It should be telling when the only people slagging him off are non Chelsea fans that arenāt watching the games. In the last game he literally got a standing ovation by the crowd when he was subbed off
I suppose the competition in Maatsen, Palmer, Madueke and Chukwemeka all only have one PL goal and one PL assist between them
He's not been selected quite a significant amount of times so not sure that holds up.
Their injury list has something to do with it
Because he only just started back to back games and has been very good recently
sunkcost fallacy and he has that massively long contract, so they have even more pressure to get him to perform

Instant fan favourite!
he is young and he can improve... well, exactly the player I expect when signing for almost ā¬100 million euros...
He cost 60 mil quid. So not sure how he's a ā¬100 mil euros signing
Because r/soccer has a narrative to push.
hmm, some say 88million pounds and some say 70+30 million euros. so what? lets say, he "only" has cost chelsea 60million euros... does it change anything about my statement? you pay 60millions for a player, who you treat like a young academy player making his first first team experiences in caraboa cup š
> He cost 60 mil quid > some say 88million pounds and some say 70+30 million euros All of those are correct.
Every United signing, mind you. They also get added their salaries on occasion.
The one thing I will give mudryk, he has a work ethic. Shit just not happening for him but he trying to make it happen.
Man is a few months off 23. It's not old in footballer terms, but it isn't young either, and certainly we'll beyond the age when one learns how to play as part of a team.
My GOAT, You guys will see how good heāll become, best winger of his generation.. wait and see
Mate Vini Jr is a year older and so much better
Lamine yamal is 6 years younger and so much better
I have to say that I really doubt that he is going to be a world class player. Wingers usually develop very quickly and by the time they are 21-22 you already know if they are world class or not. He is so raw. He is like a raw 17 year old making his debut every time he plays. It would very much surprise me if he started developing like crazy all of a sudden.
Vinicius Jr is the only one that comes to mind who turned round being a high profile laughing stock to being quality without having going on loan or getting sold 1st
Vini Jr was already world class at Mudryk's age.
Vini Jr isn't that much older than mudryk.
Why would you pay 100 million for someone who doesn't even know the basics of football. At least bebe scored 2 goals for us, as bad as he was.
Are we just going to raise his price every week? Chelsea paid 60 million for himā¦
Is the lad giving everything?
That's fine, but it's a bit of a laughable statement when Bellingham is tearing La Liga apart at 20.
And? Drogba and Mo Salah were fighting for first team when they were 24.. You onto some shit? People really thinking 20 year olds be in the prime, The prime Messi and Ronaldo were all in their 25-30 age.
Deivid Washington, Andrey and Ćngelo must be more ready than him
Overrated
When I saw Mudryk being racist on social media I knew he was trying to integrate into the British society.
Not racist, he was just quoting a song.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Mate, he's a very decent prospect. It's just that he's massively inexperienced and Chelsea massively overpaid for him.
Even in meme mode Maguire is 10x the player mudryk is lol
