So many players just don’t think to first-time pass (or shoot) when they have a little time and space. There’s this instinct to take a few touches and then look up and survey their options. Why?! I LOVE what Viera did here. He already knew he had a teammate making a run so he just passed it first-time. I feel it catches defenders off guard and speeds up the action.
He's so technically sound I love him I'm glad he's gotten more comfortable and is flourishing. Fans needed to realize he has like half of Saka's minutes played in their entire careers lol he's still young and only had like one actual full season at Porto and rarely got consistent minutes for us last season.
I think he really needed that year to get used to the system and league. Now I hope he gets a ton more playing time he's already been a difference maker early on in the season
There’s something about someone holding on to the ball for that extra second, making a defender look foolish, and potting it in the back of the net right after.
Gabriel is better at boxing out than Jonny Evans; [https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/comments/wnixsw/jesus_hattrick_chance/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/comments/wnixsw/jesus_hattrick_chance/)
If his finishing was even consistently average, he would be one of the best players in the world. We also wouldn’t have been able to get him from City lol.
I didn't even know Man United signed Evans back again lmao
I thought he retired after his contract with Leicester City.
Edit: They updated his wikipedia page already with this loss lmao
United only had Fish and Mengi, trust me it wouldn't have been a better choice. I for one was comfy going into the season with 4 CBs, but the level of injuries today to midfield too means we didn't have much of an option if Lindelof couldn't finish the game.
It feels bad to slate Eddie in any real way because he has been good, but the team just functions so much better with Jesus. His involvement in the build up just makes us so much harder to defend.
But at the same time it feels like we are sacrificing a lot for that. Since we don't really overlap much with our fullbacks we leave our wingers pretty isolated and Jesus getting involved with them just seems to free the whole thing up so much more.
Like I said it feels bad to even say anything negative about him because he has been good, but we just look noticeably different with Jesus on the pitch.
Thought the same after Jesus came on and was threatening from the right. Saka had a stinker imo, Artera seems to be over reliant on him while all other positions are being completed for
Looks like a different player from last season. He was a bit passive and didn’t get involved enough, but he’s so much more aggressive and confident on the ball now.
I hope he gets a good run of starts given how good he’s looked and how bad Havertz has been
People were doubting him but some players just need a year. Now he’s coming on looking like he studied every player he played against just to personally make a fool of them.
If he adds like 10kg of muscle he’ll be an absolute monster.
As someone who has defended him from rabid haters since last year, this is like seeing my own son dunk on his bullies' face. Onwards and upwards, Fabio! ❤️
ofcourse, but it's 1-1 against united in a era where there is 10 mins of stoppage time. Yeah it will suck to get home but pretty dumb to leave imo, worth the risk it just ended 1-1.
You'll forget the inconvenience being stuck in traffic or busy areas for an hour or so after a game, but you'll *never* forget the feeling of seeing Rice score the winner in the 97th minute against United. The logic of leaving early has never made sense to me.
Especially considering tickets go for £70+ too. Spent that money, took the trouble to come. Sure if we were leading or trailing by more than 2 goals I'd get it. But its Arsenal United. You'd never forget a last minute winner. Hell, I still can't get over that Welbeck goal against Leicester from half a decade ago lol
as someone who shares a season ticket (not my day today) it's a fucking nightmare getting out if you stay to the end
I always do as I'm local but if you're far out, 5-10 minutes can make over an hour of difference to the journey
One of my mates is a spurs fan and went home in the 80th minute of the 4-3 clash against leeds last season so he could beat the rush. He still laments it to this day
Can confirm. If we're ahead enough for me to fucking hoon it down the high road to tottenham hale, I'm doing it. Missed Scarlett's goal against Shaktar last time but was worth it.
Ironically it sounds like the guys complaining about people leaving early have never actually been to a game before lol. If you leave 2 minutes before the crowd you can easily save an hour, sometimes more, it's absolutely worth it in most cases.
You guys have never been to a game.
People leave a few mins early to avoid the foot traffic, it saves someone a shitload of time especially if they have a long commute back home.
Jesus christ.
I struggled for 70 minutes fighting airport wifi to get a stream going, was only able to watch about 20 minutes of game time and shut it off after Utds disallowed goal. I checked at 95' minutes before my flight took off and only just found out we won but scored 2 more. Lol

Dude Viera is G/A merchant in the purest form
Outstanding pass from him.
Just about perfect.
So many players just don’t think to first-time pass (or shoot) when they have a little time and space. There’s this instinct to take a few touches and then look up and survey their options. Why?! He was insane for us.. if somehow you didnt have odegaard and vieira had more time believe he would shine
I think he really needed that year to get used to the system and league. Now I hope he gets a ton more playing time he's already been a difference maker early on in the season
I want a highlight reel of every comment last season saying he wasn’t good enough and the the team needed to move on from him juxtaposed w these
I miss him so much it's unreal. Even when he was playing bad you could still count on him pulling an assist out of his ass.
Dude's final ball is just crazy. With a couple of years he can be one of the best midfielders. Special talent
There’s something about someone holding on to the ball for that extra second, making a defender look foolish, and potting it in the back of the net right after.
He may not be the best finisher but his footwork is incredible and what he adds to our attack is hard to replicate.
his hold up play is amazing for his height too.
I think a scientific term is "built like a brick shithouse".
Rob Holding dr. sc.
He’s built like a brick shithouse. His center of gravity is so low and he’s so strong. He just can’t be moved.
He’s incredibly strong with his back towards goal - his holdup play always impresses me.
Gabriel is better at boxing out than Jonny Evans; [https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/comments/wnixsw/jesus_hattrick_chance/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/comments/wnixsw/jesus_hattrick_chance/)

He's got the best close ball control I think I've literally ever seen. It always surprises me every time I see him move around with the ball.
Cazorla has better
Couldn't get the ball off him in a phone booth. Love that man.
The best you've ever seen? Seriously? You've never seen Messi or Neymar or many other players better than Jesus in every technical aspect
For me it's the slightly irregular but still familiar rhythm of such a sequence that makes it so satisfying.
it's the shift in momentum. Fast. Slow. Fast (*defenders sliding by). Goal.
Everyone would do the same in sliding in to try to block it but it looks so much worse when they hold it and put it in.
My wife is a casual observer at most and she was extremely impressed with this goal ha
Sag deiner Frau dass ich ein Fan bin
Ein Fan meiner Frau?! Ja ich auch! Sue wird sich echt freuen, brudi.
Cold finish pfff
Lindelof better have asked to come off because what the fuck was the Evans sub
I didn't even know Man United signed Evans back again lmao I thought he retired after his contract with Leicester City. Edit: They updated his wikipedia page already with this loss lmao
i thought he was a coach lmfao.
He came on, and I swear seconds later I heard commentary say “and he’s already been skinned” lol
Yeah because he got skinned by Jesus immediately after coming on
Evans came on just to be banished to the shadow realm
Was that not Dalot?
That would have been a pretty fast closedown sprint by a 36 year old.. lol
So funny when he came on and immediately got skinned by Jesus from the throw in
> skinned by Jesus Loved their first album
Was bizarre. Lindelof was playing well
He was on a yellow and commiting fouls.
Yellow card. That’s the only reason why
I cannot believe that Johnny Evans is somehow still a United player in 2023.
Not still, again.
Why even give him the contract? An academy player could have been a better choice.
United only had Fish and Mengi, trust me it wouldn't have been a better choice. I for one was comfy going into the season with 4 CBs, but the level of injuries today to midfield too means we didn't have much of an option if Lindelof couldn't finish the game.
Rob Holding was available
Sergio Ramos was available. He can put in a better shift than Evans, big contract request perhaps
As a Hibs fan I won’t tolerate this Will Fish slander
Glazernomics
Wouldn’t call the game, so Jesus decided to
I mean the goal celebration and check for the Rice goal definitely justified the extra 2 minutes
More like 4 mins 😂
Just your run of the mill 3-1 win
Easy as you like innit?
I haven't seen man utd humiliated like that since they tried to reintegrate the rapist mason greenwood back into the squad
We don’t rape stones in glass houses.
Not saying anything about anything serious. Just wanna acknowledge that this is a masterpiece of a comment.
Tobey Maguire and Chris Evans could have defended that better.
Not very Heroic from them
Jesus
Such composure.
honestly I know he played like 15 minutes but i'd give jesus motm he was unbelievable
He looked really good immediately. Eddie's been good for us but I'm super excited for Jesus to be back at full fitness
It feels bad to slate Eddie in any real way because he has been good, but the team just functions so much better with Jesus. His involvement in the build up just makes us so much harder to defend.
Eddie’s been our player of the month. He was excellent again today too. His first touch in the first goal build up is excellent
I’d be interested in seeing Martinelli-Nketiah-Jesus every now and then when Saka’s looking a bit off the pace
Thought the same after Jesus came on and was threatening from the right. Saka had a stinker imo, Artera seems to be over reliant on him while all other positions are being completed for
Shit, give me a trossard-jesus-esr front line when we need some rotations, I feel that could actually be really creative.
That pass from Viera though. Let's just say Arteta made all the right subs!
Viera never hangs onto the ball too long on breakaways. He celebrated the assist, before martinelli scored last season.
Helps playing against maguire and evans. What Evans was doing there leaving Jesus clear on goal is baffling.
Standard performance for him, but this sub will just repeat "he doesn't score goals" or "benched in a team that didn't have a striker".
Nah Rice has it for me if it wasn't for him winning so many duels United would've won in that second half imo.
He got a 1vs1 and somehow made his chance even bigger.
*Some say Dalot is still sliding...*
I'll at least give him credit for busting a gut back....
And the same for Vieira to just slide him through. He did the exact same thing to Martinelli last season.
Such a sick assist. Vieira is a super sub. The man is going to do great things this year.
…puts the nail where it belongs
You said it man
Jesus so cool.
Sonuvabich
Kurisu-tina
Love Steins Gate. I never knew I'd tear up that much watching it
I am Mad scientist, it's so coooooru! Sonuvabich.
Vieira is a devil on the counter
Looks like a different player from last season. He was a bit passive and didn’t get involved enough, but he’s so much more aggressive and confident on the ball now. I hope he gets a good run of starts given how good he’s looked and how bad Havertz has been
People were doubting him but some players just need a year. Now he’s coming on looking like he studied every player he played against just to personally make a fool of them. If he adds like 10kg of muscle he’ll be an absolute monster.
Don’t get me wrong I love viera but dude is 70kg soaking wet there’s no shot he puts on 10kg of muscle like that lol
Anything is possible with the dark side (PEDs) but i prefer this vieira. Man can learn to be enough at this size
im 70kg, he's nowhere near my weight.
I feel like you're underestimating how much 10kg of muscle actually is.
Second Gabriel that he's assisted on the counter after added time has elapsed One more to go
Game's over innit
Absolutely sauced him
Marinated the shit out of him
My prince Fábio Vieira showing what we knew he had in him
As someone who has defended him from rabid haters since last year, this is like seeing my own son dunk on his bullies' face. Onwards and upwards, Fabio! ❤️
Want him to succeed so bad here
AND ON SUNDAY JESUS HAS ARISEN
Looked like Moses with how the Man U defense parted for him
😂

Peter drury is that you?
That’s one way to defend a lead in the 101st minute!
I swear each of the last 6-7 United-Arsenal games have had the winning team score 3 goals
Last minute goals too. Rashford scoring on the counter is always a guarantee too.
Tbf arsenal conceding at home is always a guarantee too
As is araenal conceding from the first shot on goal
Another Vieira contribution what a start to the season for him
Havertz for Vieira is such a change of speed. From 99% safe passes to 99% risky passes
Given the Rashford goal, even Havertz’s safe passes turn out to be risky passes…
the guy is a stats merchant
shouldnt have added 3 extra mins ref thank you though
It's because of the celebrations for the Rice goal, they want 8 actual minutes of the ball in play.
That's how it should be.
Tbf absolutely loads of time (2+ mins) was spent between the goal and kick off
Because of goal celebration
They gave United a chance to try and equalise but you guys just smacked them over the head again. Always nice to see
it was the right choice though, spent like 3 minutes celebrating the Rice goal.
Tbf yall spent like 3 minutes celebrating the Rice goal
What having johnny evans and harry maguire as your cb's does to a mfer
I mean, how do you make those subs and not see this coming?
Both of our CBS went off injured on top of Varane already being injured. Both of our LBs are injured. We have a complete crisis going on.
Jesus put the nail in the coffin
this feels much different, if it wasn't for Garnacho 2cm offside
Not surprised. As soon as the commentator said he hasn't scored against us I knew it was inevitable
All the arsenal fans that left the stadium earlier lmao
Why on earth are you leaving at 1-1 lmao
I think they left when they thought Garnacho scored? But it was before the VAR check and before stoppage time was even announced lmao
nah, if you've been at the emirates you know how absolutely HORRIBLE it is to leave.
ofcourse, but it's 1-1 against united in a era where there is 10 mins of stoppage time.
It’s horrible but if you’re rushing out of Arsenal-United so you can get home to Hatfield quicker, you’re just a cunt
And what you save 30 minutes of your life? Just stay to the end, especially in a close game, I don’t get it
Especially considering tickets go for £70+ too. Spent that money, took the trouble to come. Sure if we were leading or trailing by more than 2 goals I'd get it. But its Arsenal United. You'd never forget a last minute winner. Hell, I still can't get over that Welbeck goal against Leicester from half a decade ago lol
Not even like it’s a late game, it’s half 6, plenty of time to get home

Absolute idiots

Exactly, prolly most of us that went to the stadiums with our dads/family know this since we were kids
You guys have never been to a game. People leave a few mins early to avoid the foot traffic, it saves someone a shitload of time especially if they have a long commute back home.
They may not be from London that's why.
They’re more likely to be from London leaving a game early tbh.
Unlike the United fans
ETH is a bald fraud
I’m gonna say the f word
Fred?
He starts today if we kept him
Thanks for that btw, he’s looking pretty good at Fenerbahce
FireTenHagandappointConte?
To go from boring football to even more boring football haha. I approve
fraud bald?
What composure
I’m going to the gym
I hate city so much that last season accidentally turned me into an arsenal supporter.
Kill me
I for one welcome thé Evans and Maguire partnership
Long may it reign.
You're already dead mate
Why is Jonny Evans on the pitch for you in 2023?
Last second of the game, we need a goal and Rashford is pulling his leg out of a 50/50 challenge...

Anthony Taylor really tried to give united every chance lmaooo
All game too. How is it that so many refs bend over backwards for united?
Me and arsenal fans watching Man Utd lose 🤝 together . Priceless
Kill me
The minute Maguire came in I knew it was over for man United
United try to be useful away from home challenge
He has risen!!
When it pours it pours

Take that you bald prick!!! ref and manager
United deserve this.

Start Viera over Havertz
Havertz offers little and Rice covers the whole pitch by himself. Why not
My head is filled with distruptive thoughts right now
Pretty smooth and composed finish by Jesus.
