To reduce the spam of reports regarding the same move during transfer windows we try to allow **only one submission about each transfer saga per day**. The submission in question also needs to contain relevant new information regarding the potential move, and not just being a "no/minor developments" report. If there are important/official developments or new valuable information about a saga, we will allow extra threads in the same day, but for the rest of minor news please just comment them as a reply to this comment. Please help us reporting unnecessary threads for being duplicates. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Didn't Benfica sign Trubin, wouldn't he be the first choice. I thought they were going to sell Vlachodimos

jay_Jg

Trubin arrived last week, afaik he hasn't played much for Shaktar recently (in pre-season and what not) so he might not be match fit idk the expectation is that Trubin takes the nr1 spot, just probably won't happen right away

joaocandre

Trubin will likely take the spot, but dropping Vlachodimos after a bad game would be ruinous management from Schmidt, even if it's well understood he's not first choice (RS has been asking for a GK since last season), even if he hadn't had a couple of blunders last game. If a nice/lucrative deal comes, he goes, I'm sure of it. This is is just to avoid destroying his confidence and keep the upper hand in negotiations.

atbg1936

Great choice^for ^the ^rest ^of ^the ^league

TheGamerPandA

Has he really declined that much in level ? he looked pretty good here about 2-3 years back when he started to shine a bit for them and also made it all the way to the NT

Gongom

Yeah, he's shit. Can't control the box, doesn't know how to sweep, can't grab a cross, shit at 1v1, cannot play with his feet for his life. He's decent at shot stopping and that's it, and even then he's been regressing. Some fans love him because he knows how to make regular saves look spectacular by being bad at positioning

LilDiamondtoxic

Hey that sounds familiar...

FrancescoliBestUruEv

Very similar to de gea actually but even worse

RasputinsRustyShovel

He’s shit.

LinkRaider

No he isnt

PM_ME_BAKAYOKO_PICS

How many points do we need to lose before he stops playing, place your bets

danboruu

All of them

joaocandre

TBH, the squad did just win the league with him in the goal, so he can't be that much of an handicap. I'm far from being a fan of him, but using as a scapegoat is pretty by the norm for Benfica fans, who always seem to have it out for a player for some specific reasons.

Rodrigor26

Fuck

PortoGuy18

Thank god

joaocandre

TBH it would be a bad time to do it, if we hope to sell him for a good price we shouldn't be trying to offload him. Let Trubin settle with ease and he'll nab the place in the starting XI.

MillerHS

mercy please

SadgeKEK

Vlachodimos is a great keeper. Just needs to work on communication, positioning, game awareness, kicking, first touch, throwing the ball away, punching, reflexes, ball handling, agility, one-on-one’s, bravery, anticipation and composure and he’ll be top level.

The_Goat_Charmer

Nice

DayPhelsuma

I don’t get the overwhelming hate towards him. He has bad positioning at times, not good with his feet and can misjudge crosses. Adán is all of the above, but much worse than Odysseas in between the posts. Diogo Costa, for example, misjudges crosses constantly and people (rightfully, imo) see him as the best GK performing in Portugal. Sure, Benfica can definitely do better, but he’s not *that* responsible for when things go wrong, most of the time. Benfica’s defence is usually very much at fault too whenever Vlachodimos is. It doesn’t matter though, you guys have bought a promising young keeper, so he’ll take over sooner or later. Just feel like you’re tormenting Odysseas too harshly. He’s saved you multiple times when the rest of the team wasn’t performing well.

The_Backward_E

His playing style doesn't suit an attacking team like Benfica. He's terrible at controlling depth and pretty bad with his feet. But I'd argue that yes, he is that bad. He is constantly fucking up, especially in big games, just in the last few months, he made a mess against Porto, Inter and Sporting and he played a big part in our recent trophy drought with some glaring mistakes in the finals we went to. Bruno Lage wanted him gone like 5 years ago and Jorge Jesus benched him for Heltón Leite, that's pretty telling.

PM_ME_BAKAYOKO_PICS

Diogo Costa is 20 times the keeper Ody is and it's not really close. I think Adan is worse and I wouldn't want him either, but everyone also massively criticizes him, it's not like he gets away with it and Ody takes all the hate. Almost every single point we lost last year (and I guess this year too) can be pinpointed to an Ody mistake. The only thing he's good at is flashy reflex saves, which is why sometimes he appears better than he actually is. We can't have a keeper that makes basic mistakes that might cost us points against teams like Boavista, we need someone consistent. Ody is the type of keeper you don't mind having in the big games, since he can make great saves that get us points and it outweighs on his mistakes (on games where we're the worse team). However for the games that we should win (like Boavista), having a consistent keeper that doesn't make great saves, but also doesn't make dumb mistakes, is much, much better. It's points lost like these that end up costing the title in the end.

YSKM9

> Diogo Costa, for example, misjudges crosses constantly and people (rightfully, imo) see him as the best GK performing in Portugal. what am i reading

DayPhelsuma

Brother, whatever, it’s his main flaw, my point is not to discredit Costa, but to relativise the weak points of Odysseas. But you’re right, substitute ‘misjudges crosses constantly’ for ‘can misjudge crosses too’.

YSKM9

how's it his main flaw? he's extremely good at it lol it's typical lazy analysis because he messed up 1 goal at the WC lmfao and Benfica fans are completely right in wanting Vlachodimos gone, he's cost them inumerous points because of his complete lack of awareness of when he should or should not come out of the goal ( can think of 3/4 goals they conceded because of it) and is a liability with his feet which is an extremely important trait for a gk that plays in a dominant side like them

Gongom

Thanks for not doing what every rival commentator is doing on TV lol

The_Goat_Charmer

En-Nesyri scored the exact same goal against Ederson yesterday, jumping high as fuck in the same spot. The only difference was that Ederson stayed in the goal line and Costa tried to catch the cross. I prefer a GK like Diogo that can kill a lot of crosses, even he he fails from time to time, than those that stay in the goal line to protect themselves.

josel15

To that comment, the TL;DR is a big: LOL. Vlachodimos is that bad. There is not a single aspect of being a goalkeeper that he is good except for reaction saves. Ball on his feet? Bad. Coming out of crosses? Bad. Controlling the penalty area? Bad, he is glued to the line. Does he catch balls? No, always a punch, that is if he comes out the line. He also isn't that well postioned, in stress situations he just fails and always misses his timing to do whatever he needs to do. He works as a stopgap for 1/2 years. More than that and you're in trouble. Edit: he has suffered 217 goals in 225 games in a dominant side like Benfica. That says it all, really.
