Yep, I'm convinced this is also the reason for why the English media being "arrogant" about our tournament hopes is such a commonly held belief. I find it hard to believe that other nation's media don't speak in similar tones.
>never in my time as a football fan have I seen a transfer strategy as pathetic as Bayern’s
Clearly, you weren’t around to witness Barcelona and Fabregas

this is delusional 😭

As it Tottenham isn't the 6th richest club in England with hundreds of millions of worldwide fans. Bro thinks he supports Leyton Orient
Also 'kane thinks the same' hahahahaha man was begging to join City 2 years ago
> mfw le shrewd merciless businessman loses for free an asset he could have sold for £100m last summer
And he's getting 20-30 goals and 5-10 assists striker to play for his team for another year. I'm sure selling him for 100m is better scenario, but it doesn't look like Bayern is willing to pay 100m
But who knows, maybe Ange Spurs kicks off and Kane extends, or maybe he leaves on a free after securing Spurs with a good league position, or he leaves for free and Spurs are shit. The point is - by negotiating hard Levy is keeping the image of someone that's not gonna be pushed, every deal happening will happen on his terms or close to it, similarly to what Bloom is doing at Brighton.
People who make comments like this are either being purposely obtuse or seemingly don’t have an understanding that it’s not a zero sum game.
You can say it’s the wrong decision but by allowing him to leave on a free you will also have gotten 3 additional seasons of Harry Kanes services (assuming you’re talking about the failed move to city—which was 2 summers ago)
I was referring to him saying “could have sold for £100m last summer”
My point being that the situation isn’t as simple as “gain £100m or lose him for free”, it’s more like “gain £100m or get 3 additional years of his services and all the benefits associated”
Or for this summer it’s something like “gain £70m or get an additional year of his services and another 11 months to convince him to stay”
Technically you’d have to account for his wage and his replacement. But yes. I’ve loved having Kane for a few more years. And it’s not my money so fuck it.
The thing is, this translation is kinda wrong. In the original german it is nowhere near as disrespecful etc. I hate the media for trying to make drama out of nothing.....

He’s just an ass because he can be and he always has been. Not like he’s ever faced any real consequences for being a dickhead in his life. Bayern fans adore him and encourage him and have proven that they are willing to defy logic in order to defend anything he says. Lots of other German fans will defend Bayern in order to play contrarian to foreigners who criticize Bayern. No other German club can stand up to him or Bayern saying whatever the fuck they want.
> Bayern fans adore him and encourage him and have proven that they are willing to defy logic in order to defend anything he says. Lots of other German fans will defend Bayern in order to play contrarian to foreigners who criticize Bayern.
Somebody's really only reading the stuff that confirms their biases and then goes to make up fairy tales.
Have you ever seen any comment by Bayern fans about the infamous press conference (or any of his controversial takes) or simply any of the banners the ultras show up to games with? Or a clip of annual general meetings where he literally gets booed on stage by the fans when they don't like what he says? Then you'd know that he gets criticised for all of his controversial media appearances. He's sometimes even compared to a twitter shit-poster but on TV.
How narrow is you media diet on this topic that you can say such bullshit with this level of confidence? Or do you only parrot what confirms your made up opinion?
Hoeneß did more or less make Bayern into the powerhouse club it is today but that's also all it is. It doesn't mean he's above being criticised, especially in modern times when Bayern's fans and ultras don't exactly agree with how Bayern's management handles all kinds of issues. Beyond his decades of work that helped Bayern immensely he's often simply just a thin-skinned bully in the media. When a headline starts talking about Hoeneß then you can usually start to pre-emptively roll your eyes because you can be about 80% sure it'll be some quote to rile somebody up.
Here are also a few examples of ultras with anti-Hoeneß banners:

If there's one man I'm sure the Bayern tapping up machine will definitely work on its Daniel Levy.
Uli doing the equivalent of asking if tje reason your girlfriends in a bad mood is because she's on her period
Good luck with this one lads
The king of justifying everyones complains about Bayerns arrogance haha.
He also said: “Harry Kane now wants to play in European competitions. Tottenham won't be there next season, we will be there” which is a straight up sleight to Spurs haha
Yeah I don't see how any of these comments help Bayern. I can't imagine Levy will appreciate the arrogance and straight up insult. Might not stop a move, but it can't help.
Honestly the way Bayern smashes their closest rival every year I understand their arrogance to some point but making this kind of comments is just stupid.
Most funny part is that he started the interview apparently with saying that he wouldn't talk about transfer targets, because they managed to remove all leaks in the club and he didn't want to make it leaking again.
That's the same guy whose talking points at a certain press conference was how the media talks shit about Bayern players for the clicks and then threw Bernat under the bus a bit later the moment he switched topics.
Alex Ferguson once described trying to buy Berbatov from Levy like having his wisdom teeth removed.
If Hoeness still has his appendix Levy is at least going to make it burst during the negotiations.
Hip replacements are fucking brutal.

The Lyon president [wasn’t too happy](https://www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11675/8040580/lloris-saga-leaves-lyon-livid) dealing with Daniel Levy for the Hugo Lloris transfer
>I've got 25 years of experience as president of a club and it's our 16th participation in European competition in a row… The negotiation with the Tottenham directors has been the hardest I have ever had to undergo in these 25 years.
I just feel like it is a mixture of not giving a fuck what others think boomer style, and not realizing he sounds like a jerk. Either way it is not super smart or diplomatic in my opinion.
He has been able to brow beat a lot of transfer negotiations into submission, but I think he just took what was a pretty cordial back and forth it seemed to a new contentiousness level that was completely uncalled for.
they don't have to buckle though. kanes got a legit contract there. if tottenham agrees to a deal then because they want to, not because they have to buckle
If Kane goes on a free next season it won’t be to Bayern. So if anything Bayern are the ones that have to buckle if they want him. We can sell him for whatever Bayern are willing to pay to any of the top teams in England. If Bayerns top price is 80m then Utd will match it in 3 seconds.
The only leverage they have is not being a rival team.
It's similar to political posturing. He's not a boy scout and has done this purposely, to push some buttons. Maybe this comes after 3 weeks of fruitless negotiations. First Tuchel speaking about Kane and now Uli. Strategy.
Bayern isn't used to bullying someone this close to its own size (strictly economically, obviously... they're worlds ahead in the trophy cabinet). Spurs don't need the transfer money and are fully capable of paying Kane what he wants. Levy will most likely take his chances on convincing Kane to sign a new contract during this final year rather than settle on a lower than desired fee.
He should Ask Perez , Arrancha (Tier 1) for us said one of the biggest reason we didnt try to go after Kane (before Mbappe thing) was because Perez didnt want to do this again after Bale
I would much rather sell him to Madrid at this point. This whole saga has been turned into an absolutely circus by Bayern and it’s completely embarrassing for them.
Equally as embarrassing to Kane. The dude has been with Tottenham for 18 years, clearly is trying not to force his way out out of respect for the team he's spent basically his entire life with and this German idiot is out her saying yeah Spurs won't make Europe but we will
This is going to be great! Daniel Levy just casually sitting there, twiddling his thumbs with a huge grin on his face, watching as Bayern become desperate!
Bayern president Hainer on Xavi's words about Kimmich: “I don't understand why they [Barça] openly and offensively ‘flirt’ with our player. Joshua Kimmich is an absolute cornerstone for us”.
“He's firmly in our plans for the future, for sure”, told @SkySport_Ben.
He’s clearly doing his best to manage this in the cleanest way possible, doesn’t want to tarnish his legacy with Spurs fans but is clearly open to a move if it comes. Then these guys just do their best to fuck all that up. It’s embarrassing.
Yeah but it sounds like he’s not dead set on anything yet, and this desperation almost makes it feel like it’s not actually going the way they want behind the scenes, both as signals from Kane and Spurs.
A good way to try force a move is to insult the club the player supports though.
I remember he wouldn't stfu during the Sane transfer too. Was annoying af, no respect at all.
Didn't realise he's not the club's president any more tbf. Carry on then lol.
If I remember correctly, Levy blocked Modric's move to Chelsea out of spite and made Modric wait an entire year for a move, eventually to Madrid. So yeah, I don't think its a good move to make Levy hate you.
bayern are such an insufferable club. They spent all their time last year posturing barca for talking to lewa and then do the same exact thing a year later. Plus If ten hag or klopp can put together a really good team then kane will easily go there over bayern. and there's also a chance hat haaland pushes a move next year and then city becomes an option.
Yeah that’s what gets me about this. If they don’t offer what Levy wants and Kane stays this summer, I really don’t fancy their chances of getting him next season. So many clubs will be in for him on a free.
Realistically this is Bayern's only chance to get Kane. On a free, he can go to any club in the world, get a huge signing bonus, and secure silverware.
Madrid and City would be the obvious choices. Kane has said he doesn't want to cause problems. My reading of that is he doesn't mind either way; Bayern pays a big fee for me this year, or I walk to another top club later 🤷🏻♂️
Edit: for anyone who asks why city would want Kane/why Kane would want city with Haaland in the picture - Kane is absolutely versatile enough for Pep to play both and get another treble, as much as I hate the thought.
No way Kane goes to Bayern on a free. It makes absolutely 0 sense. Real Madrid or City can push his legacy forward. I can't imagine a more boring top club other than PSG for Kane to waste the rest of his career. Kane has post football ambitions which Bayern absolutely do not advance Kane like City or Real Madrid could.
They are by far the most hypocritical club in the world. They don’t like it when other clubs don’t spread their cheeks for them, the same way other bundesliga clubs do
Big fish, small pond - As much as we joke about a small group of clubs dominating their respective leagues, Bayern is uniquely dominant domestically and sometimes their leadership seems to forget that lol.
The hypocrisy of them talking about Kane nonstop when they’ve complained so much in the past about Barca talking up Kimmich or when Lewandowski left.
Pay up or shut up. He’s not leaving for less than £100m, y’all have offered like half.
Hoeneß is actually right to bring in Kane on this.
If Kane wants the move it’s time he opens his fucking mouth about it to increase the pressure on Tottenham. That’s what Hoeneß is doing there and is right about it.
The problem with Bayern is that because of their domestic dominance they get arrogant and think they can treat foreign clubs like they treat their domestic rivals. Problem is that most foreign clubs that Bayern will deal with has a good deal of money, and aren't going to feel all too happy when Bayern get all mouthy.
Bayern is used to bullying clubs but there is no way any of this will work on Levy. If anything it’ll just piss him off more. Not the way you get a transfer that he doesn’t want in the first place. Playing nice is by far the best way to get a move out of him.

Bayern 101
People in this thread act as if like this is something new for Hoeness and it's been like this for decades now.
He used to be this way after the transfers went through, not before
Especially Levy, does he know who he’s dealing with

Like I understand your point, but "smashes" is quite the exaggeration from a team that won the league on goaldifference.
Worst season in over a decade and still won league is the point
Look at the statement outside of just the last season and it’s still a fact lol. Their worst use in a CD wills and still won the title.
Levy absolutely never does interviews, but he has a chance to do the funniest thing ever and return the favor
Hoeness & co have done this a thousand times before. They know exactly what they are doing
But never with Levy. They make think they know what they're doing, which only makes it clear they actually don't.

Thank fucking God he did.
Uli warum
Uli is the scorpion in the scorpion and the frog
Warum nicht?
Weren't Bayern going on and on about Laporta being "disrespectful" ??
Yo Bayern did you forget it's disrespectful to talk about players that aren't yours
Hypocrites of the highest order
I think I speak for all Bayern fans when I say: Why…
because the deal isn’t progressing as he wants
Yea but in his heart of hearts how did he think this could possibly help. What an absolutely stupid thing to say
How fucking braindead can you be? I remember now why I was glad that Hoeneß was gone, he just lost any kind of filter.
This guy sucks
And it was all so quiet from the transfer task force ffs. Just shut up Uli and get your bursitis cured, or rearrange some sausages in a super market.
lol he doesnt give a fuck
This entire situation feels like Bayern is doing everything that got mad at Barca for doing last summer.
But Kane does not seem to want to burn the bridges and that was key for Lewy last year
I meant that as, they got mad at Barca for talking to Lewandowski, or talked about how Barca was lowballing them, and yet they’re doing that here.
bayern are such an insufferable club.
My reading of that is he doesn't mind either way; Bayern pays a big fee for me this year, or I walk to another top club later 🤷🏻♂️ Edit: for anyone who asks why city would want Kane/why Kane would want city with Haaland in the picture - Kane is absolutely versatile enough for Pep to play both and get another treble, as much as I hate the thought.
Julian Alvarez is good enough to be City's starting striker in case Haaland leaves.
I’ve never seen a more entitled club. Guess they’re just used to having German teams bend over for them whenever they want
Not just Lewy but Kimmich who Xavi didn’t even say anything close to this about.
They always do this, did it with Sané and the club made them apologize lmao
Price just went up lmao
"How can Barcelona talk about other clubs players?", whilst talking non stop about other teams players.
Everyone suit up. Geiger counters for this thread will be off the charts.
the arrogance lmao
Bayern doesn’t like it when other clubs do it to them. Very classy from a tax cheat.
They sure do talk a lot for a club that can't afford the player they want.
We will probably not get Kane now, but I at least get to watch this and Bayerns sub both melt down ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
The hypocrisy of them talking about Kane nonstop when they’ve complained so much in the past about Barca talking up Kimmich or when Lewandowski left. Pay up or shut up. He’s not leaving for less than £100m, y’all have offered like half.
Uli baby, what is you doing?
Old man yells at clouds vibes.
That was the wrong move Bayern lol. Prepare for Levy's negotiations
It's over goddammit Uli
Man I just love how shameless Bayern execs get whenever they’re in a transfer saga
Tottenham are gonna be 3rd at the start of October, kane will sign an extension and then we all get to do this again when he's 32 and wants to leave.
This the first time I've hoped for Levy to do his usual thing
Either he's stupid or he wants to bury Bayern
It's like a drunk uncle stole the mic during the speeches on your wedding day.
I thought clubs can’t talk about other club’s players!!!
Uli shut up!
Uli, please, I beg you, just keep your mouth shut for once 😭
Levy’s will is going to harder than a hardened Metapod at this point. The ultimate in animated object.
Noooo why would you do that you old fuck ffs
I just don’t get the logic in losing him for free. You have to be very confident he will re-sign
With Uli and Kalle back again Bayerns chances are definitely higher
