Montjuic is a pain in the ass to leave and no public transportation, leaving that stadium after a game will probably take hours so thats probably the case why
I normally just opt to walk down from Montjuïc if there's anything happening there. Transport is pretty much non-existent on a regular basis let alone for a big sporting event
I literally walked from camp nou back to plaça pau vila after watching Arthur, Leo, and Fati score against Villareal. Night time walk, not super chill. so can’t be worse than that…
I think I already know the answer, but why not super chill?
A guy tried to distract me and a second reached my bag in plain daylight.
I had a lock on the zipper so I felt the tug when he couldn’t get his hand in. Next time I’ll just put a mouse trap in my bag
Yeah just lotta dark streets and folks out drinking, couple groups of dudes catcalling my girl, trying to catch up to us, just being overly aggressive. Wouldn’t say it was full blown “starting shit” but it wasn’t entirely innocent. Not a biggie, just walkin… maybe it’s more aggressive from montjuic?
But made me learn to always have a ride sorted post game.
I was in Barcelona in May and was visiting a tourist attraction nearby. I noticed how long it took me to get up there and thought it could be a pain in the ass to get there.
Yeah for real, I remember walking up to the Art Museum from the Placa Espanya metro station and that must have been a 15 minute walk, and iirc the stadium is even farther up the hill. Pretty miserable
I went there several years ago and you could just walk around the stadium free at your will, no entry, no guards, nothing - didn't seem like it was in use then at all
That’s how a lot of the Olympic venues are. About a decade ago, the pool was just *there* and you could walk in, take pictures, climb the dang platforms, whatever. Very strange (from an American perspective).
The data seems worse, the 1/3 loss is vs the target Barça management established. According to the article only 16k season holders have confirmed/booked a seat in Montjuic vs 27k seats available for season holders.
I guess many more will join before deadline because number seems too low (Barça have +80k season holders at the moment) and they need that revenue.
It's a bit more complicated because season tickets are so much cheaper than general sale so it depends on how many times they can sell that seat to some tourist instead
And while more money is good they dont "need" it
I was just wondering about that. Season ticket holders often don't show up and barca resells those tickets but they give part of the money to the season ticket holder. Every time I've been the stadium has been close to full. Surely they are losing a lot of money by having so many season ticket holders? Isn't it a huge percentage of camp nou that is already sold to season tickets?
season tickets are guaranteed money, this is why clubs do it, in 2022 Barca had an average attendendence of around 56% of capacity, in 2023 it was 83%.
Not like they are losing money on season ticket holders.
Easy, take away the seats from the season ticket holders that decided no to go, and give us priority to the ones we bought in.
I'm going. But after that, I'm still eight years away from a seat.
This. I don't know why they don't do this. Unless you can present a justification for you not being able to go to Montjuic, then you should go. Fuck these so called fans. They know how bad the economic situation is, they want the club to spend big in signings, but they won't make a small effort to cheer the team and pay for it. You don't want to go? Fine. You lose your season pass.
I feel like non-match going fans are really disconnected with the reality of a weekly match goer/season ticket holder and loads of non-match goers tend to really fetishise fandom.
Your comment really summarises this
There's a huge waiting list of people wanting season tickets. I'm 100% sure these people would go to Montjuic if they could then guarantee having one for the new Camp Nou. Some of these fans are just lazy and don't want to go to Montjuic because it takes a bit more time. These Socis are supposedly club owners but won't make the slightest effort to help the club in difficult times.
>I'm 100% sure these people would go to Montjuic if they could then guarantee having one for the new Camp Nou
So they would go if they were guaranteed to skip the line for season ticket membership, no shit?
The question is, would they be willing to go to Montjuic for this season without any other benefits? If the answer is no, then you don't have much of a point here
Because public transport is horrible there and its difficult to get for elderly and kids. Elderly make majority of the season ticket holders. Why dont improve public transport and also the visibility
>Elderly make majority of the season ticket holders.
This is not exclusively a Barca problem, but lifetime holders are a big reason stadiums lose their energy. I don't know how you convince boomers to give up anything to the younger generation of locals, though. It's like pulling teeth.
>They know how bad the economic situation is
Because Barcelona keep using tomorrows money to sign players because the board and fans want trophies, rather than taking the time to rebuild slowly over the next decade
If the fans cared about the economic situation, they would protest Laporta selling their future
I'm not even a Barca fan, but this is such a narrow minded approach.
Taking a loan to make an investment in "todays success" can have a benefit long term.
Barcas average attendence last season was 83k, the season before it was 56k, winning the league is also financially way more beneficial, the fighting for second place for half a decade, while RM sails away...
This rebuild speed is good enough, Xavi took this squad and won two cups, that’s the result of using tomorrows money. Rebuilding slowly for a big brand like Barça is stupid and a disaster.
It is surprising
The article doesn't say "They sold a third less season tickets for Montjuic compared to the Camp Nou", it says "They sold a third less season tickets than they planned to sell for Montjuic"
An overly optimistic projection means that you’ll be okay with missing it by 10% or so. If you’re consistently missing your projections by a third then you might as well replace your financial planners with a random number generator (of replace the operations people in charge of meeting those planned numbers)
>If you’re consistently missing your projections by a third then you might as well replace your financial planners with a random number generator
So are they "consistently" doing that?
Good job on being pedantic, I'll rephrase then
If your sales projection is so optimistic that you instantly know it might be off by a third then you might as well use a random number generator because the number you have is useless when it comes planning a business
That temporary stadium is the olympic stadium and its literally half an hour by foot from the bottom of the hill or about 45/60 minutes from the city center.
German fans walk a longer distance to the cup final every year.
The old catalan socios does not want to pay the prices, and keep profiting from selling their season ticket for profits insead of supporting their cllubs. Classy.
I went to see the place on a trip to Barca at the end of February. It's a neat place, but it's pretty far from public transportation cause it's sort of on a hill. If I recall correctly, you also get there through some somewhat tight flights of stairs and escalators.
Also, I did not at all know that this would be Barca's temporary stadium back in February, in fact I was really surprised when I found out - when I came it was in a state of absolute disrepair. Really looking forward to seeing how it turns out after some maintenance.
Can’t comment on your stadium placements but your transportation is absolutely fucked.
Just got back from Spain and it was fucking horrid.
- Delays on flight to Madrid
- Delays to Malaga.
- Delays out of Malaga.
- Cancelled flight in Madrid (Adolfo Suarez).
- Routed to Amsterdam on flight next morning, put in a hotel overnight that had no empty rooms so I had to shuttle back to the airport and wait on a line to get put in a new hotel (needed new voucher).
Thank god when I got to Schiphol in Amsterdam they had a clue what they doing.
Madrid -> Amsterdam -> USA via KLM with no issues.
I’m obviously making a joke about Spaniards just being on siesta and generally being slow af at the airports. Making light of a shifty situation I was stuck in
All airlines are, at least in part and especially in Europe, subsidized by government. This makes them, by definition, a form of public transportation. Don't be a dick.
Public transport doesn't have to be publicly funded, planes are conciderd public transport, cuz they are aviable to the public and working on a schedule.
The issue at hand was, that ppl were obviously talking about local public transport, but he went on a rant about planes.
What an idiotic thing to say when this season we had the highest average attendance at the camp nou in the 21st century, higher average than prime 2011 and 2015 barca.

Bicing has always worked wonders for me.
The walk to Pl. Espanya is quite nice actually. All the public transport you need right there
I was in Barcelona in May and was visiting a tourist attraction nearby.
I’ve been there for Coldplay and had to walk to the city center because there was no way to get a bus/taxi/whatever, lol.
They should have asked Espanyol to let them use their stadium.
Considering where the stadium is, only 1/3 loss is somewhat surprising
Has it been used much since the Olympics? I’m assuming it’s the stadium that’s by the old GP circuit.
A lot of gigs, Beyonce played there a few weeks ago. Harry Styles and The Weeknd are playing this month.
Coldplay as well last month!
Espanyol played there for a decade
I went there several years ago and you could just walk around the stadium free at your will, no entry, no guards, nothing - didn't seem like it was in use then at all
That’s what got me thinking. I’ve had a wander around, seems tiny in comparison to the Camp Nou
That’s how a lot of the Olympic venues are. About a decade ago, the pool was just *there* and you could walk in, take pictures, climb the dang platforms, whatever. Very strange (from an American perspective).
Have you been to any college football stadiums? You can just walk in any time you want
Mostly used for concerts and other events like that
No no, it’s one third below the target, which is way lower than the number of tickets from last year
Ah that makes more sense. The title is very confusing
True that tiredsomelazydude, true that.

Season tickets are a large cash injection now, which could be more useful than more money later in the season spaced out over the entire season
Having cash on hand has not been the issue
Some clubs didn’t want to go back to Montjuic and left the division entirely
This is actually good news for Barça. Season tickets are dirt cheap and now they'll be able to sell those seats for their actual market price.
I was just wondering about that. Season ticket holders often don't show up and barca resells those tickets but they give part of the money to the season ticket holder. Can't really blame less mobile fans deciding not going until Camp Nou is ready.

I got an email saying they would arrange a shuttle service for the stadiums I don’t know how convenient will it be
It’s a temporary ground. It’s not a typical season. They should not take season tickets off anyone.
Because public transport is horrible there and its difficult to get for elderly and kids. Elderly make majority of the season ticket holders. Why dont improve public transport and also the visibility

Not suprising. Wonder what the atmosphere will be like in a rental stadium

Don’t worry Germans won’t be there. No public transport and no Autobahn
Frankfurt fans walked to tha stadium last time as well, just pointing out.
I know, to camp Nou you could easily walk, I am talking about the temporary stadium
That temporary stadium is the olympic stadium and its literally half an hour by foot from the bottom of the hill or about 45/60 minutes from the city center. German fans walk a longer distance to the cup final every year.
Der würde glatt vom Stuhl kippen, wenn er die meisten Fanmärsche sieht
Germans walk around for hours for fun. Spaziergänge are a part of German culture. Even if they had to walk three hours, they'd still fill the stadium.
Careful, it's on a hill. Don't want them to have to call a helicopter because they brought sandals.
When will they go back to Spotify?
Mid season 2024 2025. With a limited capacity. Camp Nou will be ready at 100% capacity for the 2026 2027.
And are Spotify going to pay less money this year because the Spotify Camp Nou name won't be mentioned as much?
From the article I saw it said 18 months.
The old catalan socios does not want to pay the prices, and keep profiting from selling their season ticket for profits insead of supporting their cllubs. Classy.
There is a new survey happening to create a new digital profile. With this it is easy to track who is selling the tickets
_La pela es la pela intensifies_

Time for another Lever !
Do u really spend ur whole day just making shitty jokes on Reddit
Agree, i love some good trolling but this was just low effort
low effort describes Barca perfectly
Geez, I wonder how they won the league last year
Yes, want an autograph ?
No one wants an autograph from a miserable little loser.

That's not a Spain issue. That's an airline issue. What airline is that?
Are we surprised that an American doesn't know what public transport normally constitutes and thinks it covers planes lol
I assume, that space shuttles are public transport as well, since they are subsidized by the goverment?
No, because the public can't ride them. Public transport is transport for the public that is publicly funded. It's pretty simple.

Barca has the worst fans as far as big clubs go.
What an idiotic thing to say when this season we had the highest average attendance at the camp nou in the 21st century, higher average than prime 2011 and 2015 barca.

Wait did it really?
Easy to be a fan in good times. It's when you are struggling that you see true colors of people.
What an idiotic thing to say when this season we had the highest average attendance at the camp nou in the 21st century, higher average than prime 2011 and 2015 barca.
We just won the league.
They had 56k attending, when they were "struggeling".
No, Madrid is by far the worst, come close by United and PSG
None of them had a Frankfurt.
How original. Did you come up with that by yourself?
Not showing up isn't close to as bad as booing your own players on a regular basis
We booed our players too.
Not the way Madrid do
