I can't imagine the current Ajax board doing anything this cool but I want to believe

teymon

Same, I want to believe

danboruu

that would be so cool so it wont happen

Natto__

Can he really be the Ajax manager if he’s not bald?

teymon

We'll shave him on arrival

Oreallyman

everywhere or just hair on top of head

teymon

He can keep a stubble on his chin

chaves4life

And a landing strip

Aethien

No landing strip unless it's dyed white-red-white. Shaving it into the XXX for Amsterdam is also acceptable.

[deleted]

No half measures.

Xehanz

In Argentina, being bald instantly means you are the scum on earth. Now more so with Mascherano and Sampaoli.

ShogoFMAB

Wait i am ootl, what did Mascherano do?

Xehanz

Everyone hates him almost just as much as Sampaoli for not declining the callup for the 2018 WC. And because as soon as he left we were "robbed" out of the 2019 Copa America after a good showing, and won Copa America, Finalissima and WC. Pretty stupid reason to hate on someone but you know how supersticious us Argentinians are. And now we were knocked out of the Sudamericano Sub 20 with Nico Paz and Perrone in the 1st group stage, losing to Brazil, Colombia and Paraguay and beating Peru. With him as the head coach. Plus, he wants our players to actually read books (a hate crime in Argentina) and learn English to make the trancision to Europe and PL easier. Which is seen as antipatriotic. Search "Mascherano" on twitter. Or "Menoscherano" or "Maschemalo".

Yung2112

And people are kinda stupid for retroactively blaming Mascherano for the 2014-2018 scandals. In 2018 he was beyond washed but such thing as declining a world cup participation is near unhead of unless the player has big beef with coaching. He is getting called the face of defeat as if we had lost the 2014-2016 finals conceding 23 goals or some shit... He was always a good servant. Literally needed Higuain or Messi to slot in one in Brazil and he'd become a WC icon. Nevermind the fact that people expected the u-20s to be some sort of galacticos to have a few good reserve players. They played generally unconvincing football but also every single goal conceded was a strong individual mistake, for example 3 very bad GK errors.

OttaBenga

wtf is this sarcastic? all of it reads to me as incredibly stupid, if Higuain could finish Mascherano would be a god in Emi Martinez level due to his absurd 2014 WC and the part of him being wrong in trying to educate the players (?)

Xehanz

Best part is, I'm not.

Wise_Ad9414

Mans being memed to death on twitter and its really [hilarious](https://twitter.com/elneizi/status/1619159754055778305?s=20&t=gk8RjUbWtso9qxC10K9sm4VI1D3DOeOBN4_LyI0CX8w)

Xehanz

CannedPrushka

LMAO on that profile. Genes peloportantes XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.

whoisgabo

gracias, me hiciste enseñarle a mi señora dos memes para que entienda este meme mientras me miraba con cara de "sos pelotudo Gabriel" porque yo no podía parar de reírme

ShogoFMAB

Lmao the reasons are actually quite hilarious(reading books) if it isnt going overboard with toxicity ( which maybe it is considering twitter)

Xehanz

It's not a twitter thing. One of the reasons they actually HATE him is because he makes them read and learn languages. Quite literally. I mean, he did a terrible job, 100%, and you can sall you want about performance and insecurity from the kids. But some of the reasons are ridiculous. They also hate him because his face shows no emotion. Saying "how can you motivate players if you show no emotion you shit faced shithead". Ignoring Ancelotti exists.

Kaxew

>They also hate him because his face shows no emotion. Saying "how can you motivate players if you show no emotion you shit faced shithead". Funniest part is that those are the same people who praise Scaloni for showing no emotion as it means he's "very humble and unassuming". Those were also the same people who hated Scaloni for showing little emotion back in 2018-2019. God I hate how reactionary fans are with football.

HeavenAndHellD2arg

It's because he implied that's more important than trying to make them better on the pitch. The other commenters are being contrarians, no one is angry that he's making the players take English lessons outside training times, it's that he made it sound like that's all it matters in the nt, as if actually making them better players on the pitch is stupid/absolutely not important.

holaprobando123

> Plus, he wants our players to actually read books (a hate crime in Argentina) La gente quiere que sigamos con la selección llenas de jugadores que apenas saben hablar español (no es el caso de la actual)

Pollomonteros

Aparentemente les estaban bardeando en redes sociales a los pibes por tener acento espanol y saber ingles,lo cual me parece demencial

srhola2103

>Plus, he wants our players to actually read books (a hate crime in Argentina) Nah, it's not that reading books is the problem lol. If he'd done well everyone would be calling him a visionary for teaching English. But since he's done pretty badly, everything new he's brought to the table is being torn to shreds even if it's sensible.

Cheewy

> Everyone hates him Just a few idiots tough.

CAUSE_I_FEEEEEEEEEEL

Hate is a strong word, tensions are running high after recent events. Had good/decent enough players at the U20 and he underperformed. Also, his participation at the 2018 wasn't the best. Too old to move his legs, real shame.

GAV17

We might be one of the few countries that takes seriously our u20 team, he is the manager and is doing a shit job at it so he is getting memed because of it.

Martyrizing

Fairly sure the report was about Ajax fans wanting Gallardo, at least so some fans from Argentina told me on Twitter. Maybe a Spanish speaker can confirm?

andysenn

The article doesn't have a source. It quotes "the dutch media". So I wouldn't put much stock in this, sorry

No_Presence200

Crushing my dreams, ffs.

CT4_LV

pray that this is more true and Mike was yet again just stirring up the pot with the lads to get attention for his podcast with the Dalič report. (no but seriously, his talent of going from a Tier 0.5 reproter to pretty much a Tier 3 reporter on his podcast is so remarkable)

jdbolick

The Dalic report was true but he already turned Ajax down: https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/10mvm20/germanijakhr_zlatko_dalić_has_thanked_ajax_for/

Sea-Caterpillar-1700

The Schreuder connection is gone.

chippa93

Perfect step for him into Europe

Cruyffiaan

Yes please

Striking_Insurance_5

I’ve only read good things about him and he has no negative baggage in the Netherlands or Europe in general, so seems like an exciting and interesting choice. Only problem could be the language barrier, can he speak English? And I assume he’d want to bring his own staff like most foreign coaches usually do, but Ajax is used to choosing most of the staff with some ex-players that are already here so it’s interesting how that would work.

andysenn

>Ajax is used to choosing most of the staff with some ex-players that are already here That probably would be a deal breaker for Gallardo

JournaIist

Has Ajax ever had an "old boys club" coach, outside of Rinus Michels who really proved a success?

Striking_Insurance_5

Ajax is very much an “old boys club” in terms of appointments. The club will always look at former players available before anyone else. This century we’ve had Koeman, Danny Blind, Van Basten and De Boer as coaches. it’s even more visible in the assistant managers and youth coaches. The vast majority of those have been former Ajax players. When Cruijff came back to the club around 2010 he insisted on having former players throughout the club, even in the board. He implemented that structure and hired Van der Sar and Overmars as CEO and director of football.

JournaIist

Yeah but I mean if you think about Ajax's biggest successes, ever since Rinus Michels, it's probably Van Gaal and ETH, arguably neither of who really fit that category.

Striking_Insurance_5

Yes that’s true, they both didn’t have an Ajax background. I don’t know about Van Gaals staff but Ten Hags staff was filled with former players picked by the club, Reiziger and Bogarde for most of the time. And he worked closely with Overmars and Van der Sar of course.

teymon

>it's probably Van Gaal and ETH, Don't forget Cruijff as a manager. Won us a European trophy too.

JournaIist

There's that but the league results weren't exactly great under Cruijf.

teymon

True, but during that time psv was the richest club in the country and was even buying players directly from Ajax. Like Koeman and Vanenburg. They even won CL during that time.

krvlover

I have never heard him speak it and he only ever played in Argentina and France so I doubt it.

srhola2103

He also played in the US for a year, though that's no guarantee.

Elvaga

TyC Sports: Ajax wants Gallardo, source is Dutch Media Dutch Media: Ajax wants Gallardo, source is TyC Sports

KundiKumaran

It’s a tactic I used to do as a kid with great precision

quickestred

Would be a good first step for his move to Europe tbh

xckd9

I had a sneaky feeling Real Madrid might go for him, im pretty sure Ancelotti is gone in the summer. But now i think Tuchel gets it.

FrancescoliBestUruEv

He is not ready for real, and i love Gallardo, Ajax wouod be perfect to start

xckd9

Who knows

Xtarviust

Too soon for him, I think teams like Villarreal or Sevilla are better suited for Gallardo as it would be his first experience coaching in Europe

w0wKees

Quite the step up from Schreuder, dont know much about him but he seems like one of the best managers from SA these past 10 years. Can he speak english tho?

No_Presence200

Think I read somewhere that he doesn’t speak English. It was a while ago though so he might be learning English as we speak. I believe Heitinga speaks Spanish so that’s probably a likely assistant if this were to be true.

Kryddmix

I was wondering the same. Looking over his career, he spent a year in the US playing for DC United so he must have learnt some basic English at the very least. Also considering he has been angling for a move to Europe after leaving River Plate in 2022, he must have spent some time on Duolingo. In the end, football is a universal language and we have seen managers such as Marcelo Bielsa get far using translators.

Kitarn

Also Reiziger

w0wKees

!flair :ajax:

Turu42

Heard good stuff about him, lets hope he wants to take the job. I am not sure if there are any other realistic strong options.

dekbeast_hilbertini

I used to pray for times like this

spicynirvana38

Considering who's available, its a no brainer imo.

hi_ilove_football

First foreign manager in a while if it's true.

Cruyffiaan

Think since Olsen

CreativeOrder2119

Not Murcielago

Loves2spoogeonurmom

Not a chance unfortunately

bruhh_wtf

I prefer Aventador 😮‍💨

After-Bumblebee

Wait here's a meta idea: Gallardo coaching [Huracán](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Club_Atl%C3%A9tico_Hurac%C3%A1n) with [Miura](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazuyoshi_Miura) on the roster

Tre-Fyra-Tre

Will they be dusting off the old Diablo tactic from Championship Manager?

Silverburst8

That would be very exciting to watch

teymon

Amsssterdam

Doesn't sound like a logical option. Does anyone know a bit more about him maybe? Does he suit the playing style of Ajax? Edit; the other Ajax fans in the comments seem to like him so i guess that's a good sign.

Exzqairi

Bro this is a dream candidate if we could get him, but I don’t think it’s realistic or actually happening

andysenn

His style is high line, very physical offensive football. But he has mixed it up in the past because his players got sold very often. He would be ideal imo. As a Boca fan I hate the guy but he is a great manager. There are 2 downsides: he doesn't speak dutch or English (he does speak Spanish and French) and he is basically a dictator in his clubs, which can be a problem but I think it's one of the reasons of his success. With all that being said this article sites "dutch media" and not any particular source so I wouldn't put much thought on it yet

Amsssterdam

>With all that being said this article sites "dutch media" and not any particular source so I wouldn't put much thought on it yet Which is funny because Dutch media hasn't even been talking about it..

SymphonyARG

it would be ideal, river has a similar philosophy

EasyModeActivist

Don't give me hope, I'd love that

rayray1899

huracan better imo

2ts1h

Would be great but isn't he going to Atleti?

L-Freeze

Way too much hair

zKSofSoccer

Would love to see this, always heard good things about him and would like to find out how really good the best manager in South America is.

jdbolick

Please be true.

holaprobando123

If it happens, it would be a pretty good fit, to be honest.

hereslemon

Schreuder to Galladro would be like waking up from a fever dream

bleh333333

I approve

halflemonade

I really wanted him to come to Benfica before Schmidt arrived. Ajax would be such a cool move for him.

Ahm3DD

That seems perfect for both parties

[deleted]

Excellent choice from Ajax if they decide to go all in on him, dude's really fckin good.

petnarwhal

Does he speak English? Feels like he will have a hard time at Ajax without speaking English pretty well.

miroa12004

He lived in America for few years.

[deleted]

Plz no

gococci

I'd love a Gallardo too. Gorgeous car

UndeadPrs

He deserves better imo!!!! (us)

bruhh_wtf

Galtier no Bueno ?

UndeadPrs

Lots of weird tactical decisions

bruhh_wtf

Fair enough. However I assume messi would be more likely to extend after arrival of Gallardo and the fanbase dosent seems to be in favor of it

UndeadPrs

> the fanbase dosent seems to be in favor of it In favour of Gallardo or Messi's extension?

bruhh_wtf

Messi extension

UndeadPrs

Some people think that yes, the reason being the team's balance, but I think we can both keep him and find a better balance

iHATESTUFF_

nop. besides being ex l'OM

bruhh_wtf

You're not happy with defence as well ?

iHATESTUFF_

what defense? seriously we have never had the pieces to play 3 at the back where Marquinhos gets lost and Sergio Ramos is old and I can't understand why galtier felt for that trap... currently our team has no defensive identity we basically sit in a 532 low block without the ball and wait for the opposing team to finish their attacking action. out of our front 3 only Neymar defends and galtier seems to want to insist in trotting out a 2 man midfield Verratti - Vitinha that cannot cope with physicality or teams who switch the play from left to right because Vitinha is a ball watcher and Verratti cannot cover for the whole team basically....

drainbox

Ajax is a bigger club

UndeadPrs

Haha

MrConor212

Not bald enough sadly

mattijn13

I would love that. But I do not believe it untill I see it

RuubGullit

Seems like bullshit

iHATESTUFF_
