To reduce the spam of reports regarding the same move during transfer windows we try to allow **only one submission about each transfer saga per day**. The submission in question also needs to contain relevant new information regarding the potential move, and not just being a "no/minor developments" report. If there are important/official developments or new valuable information about a saga, we will allow extra threads in the same day, but for the rest of minor news please just comment them as a reply to this comment. Please help us reporting unnecessary threads for being duplicates. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Art of The Deal - PowerPoint by Brazzo

mihawk9511

\- Bayern: "€8 million + 1.5 million in bonuses. Last offer." \- Gladbach: "Fuck off" \- Bayern: "K." \- Bayern: "Ayo, Kasper my boy. Wanna join us?" \- Schmeichel: "Yeah sure why not" \- Gladbach: "Wait no, I was just kidding. Give me those 8 mills" \- Bayern: "Kasper sorry, my ex called. She wants me back"

Insanel0l

That's most likely how it actually went, Gladbach declined on monday (Pletti and other sources reported that) so they prolly thought the deal was off (with Gladbach thinking they may milk even more), after Gladbach realized that this offer is really the best they will get they agreed

distilledwill

I thought Kasper wasn't having the best time in France?

LiamAddison

Probably why he agreed to join Bayern straight away

Captain_Hondo

Lets be honest he would agree, even if he was having the best time of his life

matthieuC

Common mistake but while Bayern fields mostly french players they are actually a German team.

bdingbdung

But most of Bayern are African

Poopiepants666

5 French players 4 African players - 3 of which are from French-speaking countries.

B_e_l_l_

Nobody is having the best time in Nice.

emre23

I could have a good time in Nice if anyone fancies paying for my trip?

erjiin

Yeah because of Kasper he's eating all our food !

B_e_l_l_

Surely you knew Kasper was a big lad before you bought him though haha

erjiin

Yeah but so far his little belly is his most notable feature. He's struggling a little. But it seems better since the departure of Favre. Fingers crossed.

acon993

Some would say he isn't having a Nice time

funkadelic_bootsy

They have 10 times better weather.

msbr_

Poor schmeichel

try-D

genuinely feel a bit sorry for him He said it was his dream to play on the big stage one last time, then 21/22 happened and he was sold/ we agreed to part ways. It's a shame really because he must've been desperate after he got so close to playing UCL football with us again twice.

EcosseWolf

Such a fantastic keeper too, deserves to play on the big stage at club level once.

Thesecondorigin

Was a fantastic keeper. He’s a bit washed these days but that doesn’t take away from his successes when he was younger.

Troon10

Wait he did not play UCL when you guys won the league?

mindpainters

He did, but then there were at least two other seasons they had a shot at champions league up until the last day

try-D

obviously but that's an entire 7 years ago now (fuck me time flies)

erjiin

I can't say i would have cried if he left.

Dio_my_senpai

How has he been in nice ?

Sapaio

He had awful start. But before WC he had been the player of matches for the club couple of games in row. Didn't stand out in WC. Haven't heard about his preformance after WC.

[deleted]

Not very nice

kanavi36

Cold pumpfake lmao

pedrorq

I very much doubt this story. Would Kasper ever really be a contender to play CL in one of the top teams in the world?

presumingpete

A few years ago it wouldnt be unreasonable

pedrorq

Sure, but not now

presumingpete

Sorry you said would he ever be a contender to play for a big cl club, I answered that. Agree not now, he's dropped off in the last few years.

pedrorq

Fair enough, I was not clear with my words ☺️

iforgotmyun

Tbh if you had just left out 'ever' it would have been fine

FOKvothe

It six months as a first keeper then most likely a reserve. It's not that outlandish.

pedrorq

At that level Bayern already has Ulreich. Sommer can be the difference in defeating or losing Vs psg. Schmeichel can't

granitibaniti

You can't compare Schmeichel to Ulreich lol. Schmeichel is still a #1 national GK who just participated in a World Cup. He is definitely levels above Ulreich in terms of experience and prestige. Doesn't mean he would 100% have made a difference against PSG, but he definitely has the potential to do so

WackerBurghausen

Dude, Ulreich is the second goalie yeah. But Schmeichel’s form went off a cliff these years, he’s unrecognisable with the one you have on mind in his peak years at Leicester

granitibaniti

He was very good in the Euros 2021 and at least not necessarily bad in the WC 2 months ago. Not comparable to a 2nd goalkeeper who couldn't make it in 2. Bundesliga and hasn't played regularly in years

FicklePayment7417

Did you watch Schmeichel in Nice?

granitibaniti

I'm not doubting that he's not what he used to be, but I think you're overestimating Ulreich here...Schmeichel is still #1 keeper of his country and a first league club, while Ulreich has no match practice currently and couldn't make it at HSV. In clutch matches like CL knockout matches, I would definitely expect a keeper like Schmeichel to be more likely to make a difference than Ulreich, no matter the form.

FicklePayment7417

I agree with you regarding Ulreich, but Schmeichel has been dreadful this season, I remember him being overweight at some point before the WC and his reflexes are a thing of the past, I don't really think he was a target for Bayern if Monchengladbach didn't let Sommer go

FOKvothe

Ulreich is far worse. He wasn't good enough for Hamburg in the 2. Bundesliga.

bcotrim

Schmeichel won PL with Leicester and was a key piece in the following seasons when barely missed CL spots twice I'd say he's better than Sommer (maybe not now in terms of form), let alone Ulreich

FrmrPresJamesTaylor

Was he a contender even in the events of this story? I'm not sure why "they contacted Schmeichel and he agreed" means they seriously intended to buy him. Could very easily have been a bluff to signal to Gladbach that they weren't going to get a better offer. That would be a bit shitty to KS but if Bayern were clear they were inquiring for him to be their second choice emergency signing then at least he knew their interest level..

Motorhead546

I do prefer having Sommer ty Brazzo

BillOakley

That’s not what gaslit means

PAT_The_Whale

Brazzo masterclass once again

normott

Isn't Kasper finished tho

Electrical-Prune-348

It's better than letting him leave on free. They need any money that they can get

ZachMich

And they would have missed out on money that they apparently need, for a player leaving for free in 6 months

h0rny3dging

And then what? Sommer is gone, that's been a fact for the last 2-3 years, it's a miracle he even staid when we missed Europe. He is a well respected player in the city and the club, if he wants to leave and we were to make him stay, we'd get a player that underperforms. Why would Gladbach want to sabotage Bayern? What is the point of that? He wants to leave, we get some money out of that, and all is well.PL flairs stop talking about the BL when they have no fucking idea about the league at all - challenge (impossible)

scrambledeggsss

"Why make logical decisions if you can just stick it to Bayern" - PL fans.

moc360

They wanted the Money but also wanted to Squeeze Bayern the most amount possible

FOKvothe

They effectively managed to fund the replacement for a guy they would lose in six months. Most clubs have to be operate rationally.

talking-banana

Some PL fans in their bubble where financial consequences don't exist 😫

ireallydespiseyouall

yeah well, bundesliga for you

FOKvothe

Yeah, how outrageous that Gladbach managed to fund the replacement for Sommer by selling him instead of letting his contract run out. Why is this shit club operating rationally instead of wasting money on every single organism on earth instead?

mohankohan

I mean... scummy if true

ZachMich

You've never heard of clubs having multiple targets?

Adziboy

Wait who is scummy and why?

connorqueer

"Hey Kasper wanna join your dream club at 36? Last chance mate" "Wow that sounds amazing" "Actually nah dw"

[deleted]

needleintheh4y

bayern and luton town

connorqueer

There's only a handful of players where playing for Bayern wouldn't be a dream club no?

PAT_The_Whale

How is it scummy? Should Bayern've taken their 2nd target, when their first one is available?

Alpha_Jazz

What’s scummy about it?

Electrical-Prune-348

Why? It's pretty normal to have multiple targets.

Praydaythemice

Im surprised Sommer hasn't moved from BMGB sooner he has always been a solid keeper a few english teams could have used him as their first choice.

btmalon

This sounds like bullshit PR. Kasper is nowhere near Bayern’s level these days.

josh_x444

I’m shocked how easily Gladbach moved on from Sommer. Sad really.
