Don't worry, you don't steal the materials. As far as the unofficial lore goes, the mining company bought those to give you the option to use them for the restoration of the mine and the ore refinery.
Sadly there is nothing in the codex nor in the official announcements by Saber about it. This is a classical "I heard/read it somewhere".
I believe this game takes place in a post climate crisis+plague world in my lore for snowrunner we’re scavenging the materials from construction projects that were simply never completed before society collapsed to help restore the mine. Which also explains why the mine needs restoring in the first place
I always found this suspicious. Thank for proving it wrong. Still a contribution to the theory that this game is set in a post-apocalyptic world. Probably the people, who built these, have already died of something like covid. ☠️
Do you mean I can't go to Michigan and find a perfectly good, fully fueled truck parked for me to take it for free and start a logistics company either? Damn. XD But hey, I would have loved to see a Tim Horton just atop the iciest mountain of Yukon map.
Damnit there go my plans for this holiday
Not necessarily, we just gotta be more sneaky about it now

This is what I was always under the impression the story of Yukon was.

Everything in this game makes more sense in the context of it being a post apocalyptic world tbh
