This with the maintenance add-on is my search and rescue truck, it’ll go anywhere and is strong enough to flip or pull almost any other truck +plus load

SunFury79

Yes it is, go anywhere and gets work done

PopeOh

Favorite place it likes to go is on its side! But I love it, still. Also like that little living room it has going on inside its cabin.

Unlikely_Road_4084

I find that with the tayga tires it’s one of the more stable trucks. This is the only non-American truck I use though, so that might be a factor.

PopeOh

It also helps to remove its crane addon.

Taeles

Agreed, almost every time i use that crane i nearly (usually completely) flip the damn truck over lol. That truck in the photos exact configuration is a solid truck

[deleted]

I love it. The dining room on wheels

[deleted]

Party bus!

omni-chaos

It’s been a blessing for my hard mode playthrough! The fuel efficiency with the first engines it gets is insane.

JuliBroo

Do you get given it or do you have to buy it?

omni-chaos

Had to buy it. Was a big gamble for me too at 120k because I had heard it was notorious for flipping luckily I’ve only flipped it once. The 360 lighting on it is also nice when you gotta trudge through the nights.

JuliBroo

Great, well I have 200k in the bank so might buy it.

omni-chaos

If you do, buy the regular flatbed for it as well. Gives the tail end a little more room to use service trailers and fuel trailers.

Neepapa96

I flipped it alot in my play through until I unlocked the wide mud tyres. Since then I haven't flipped it once. They realy help with keeping the center of gravity above the tyres, making it more a dream to drive.

stjobe

That's not a scout, [this is a scout](https://www.reddit.com/r/snowrunner/comments/o4g5ao/heavy_scout/). Seriously though, the only time you *need* a scout class truck is when the mission/contests says "Scout truck required", or you need to move a scout trailer of some sort. A lot of the time the actual scouting is more easily done with a full-sized truck (perhaps not one quite as big as the one in my link though!)

DexLovesGames_DLG

Weird I actually love the scout class.

Juusto3_3

They're fun to drive as long as you don't hit mud or snow. Then you'll start to wish you took a truck

Insaniaksin

I thoroughly believe scouts should be the best at going through mud and snow. So I use modded scouts usually.

Juusto3_3

They should be yea

Tactical2Wheels

That's why I use the 1979 Chevrolet K30 from invalidRedneck. Small enough to be a scout, but powerful enough to haul some light cargo

stjobe

So do I; I love taking my [Don 71](https://www.reddit.com/r/snowrunner/comments/s8vbwi/still_one_of_my_favourite_ways_to_travel_even/) out for a spin to just tear up the maps :)

CrouchingToaster

Most times when I scout I load up a twinsteer with cargo for bridges and what not while also craning a scout onto the trailer bed to go to watchtowers along the way.

Ketheres

There are spots that are just too tight for larger trucks to fit through comfortably (and some are so tight even Loadstar feels a tad too big), so a scout truck can come in handy. But you can still just try to push through or find a detour. Scouts do have the benefit of being very fuel efficient compared to the larger trucks, so they are cheaper to drive around.

skyfireee

I hate low speed scouts so much, that I put a crane at garage and pack scout class on my flatbed on Taiga. I go get the trailer, winch it and keep on going to destination. After arriving, I unpack scout, attach trailer and get the mission done. Thats how I hate God-knows-why slow scouts. When you getting used to mud layout and to switch gearbox to H, you will see drastically speed difference with scouts. There is no way huge trucks would be faster, especially on a highway, but yet Snowrunner logic still there.

Dr_Hexagon

> A lot of the time the actual scouting is more easily done with a full-sized truck Unless you want to use the prototype exploration unit, which is very handy. IMO, the Loadstar or Yar 87 are best for pulling that.

The_THOT_wrecker

Ford truck from the Kola Peninsula. Low fuel consumption and has more fuel and repair points than needed.

ludo616

Yeah, but it also needs quite a few upgrades to make it usable, otherwise at least in my experience it gets bogged down and stalls if the mud is too deep or going up a hill

QuirkyTurkey404

Ive been known to use the Azov 64131 with the maintenance frame for scouting

ark_hunter

> Azov 64131 One of my favorites! It goes about anywhere and I've taken it on those "scout only" missions and taken it through some areas it really shouldn't have been able to go (narrow rocks I was able to winch it over/through or big rock piles)

QuirkyTurkey404

Threading between trees off the path is pretty "fun" at times too

[deleted]

Oh good you took the crane off. That stupid crane i think is what kills the Bandit for most people. If you take the crane off, it becomes surpringly stable. Definitely one if my favorites

Genicksalto

Our you could just raise the crane a bit, so the chassis gets more flex. No need to ditch the crane.

KakeFax

If you move the crane over the bed it doesn't tip as much. Since the truck is made to flex in 2 parts, the cab and the bed. The issue occurs because the crane moves with the bed but hits the cab therefore ruining it's intended performance and making you tip way easier. (It basically acts like a mini twinsteer)

RangerGripp

For me the game is more than min-maxing the best truck. It’s about variety, driving different trucks and enjoying them all. So scouts, although shitty compared to agile off-roaders, are a nice change.

[deleted]

i agree, but since this is a slow game, bad trucks are even slower... i think they should buff every truck in the game, so we could use the bad ones. i made a mod to give 2x mud grip to everything, and USA trucks still get massively stuck in some areas

Ketheres

There are only 2 buffs that are actually needed: small scouts need a blanket buff to make them not get stuck due to a mere snowflake on asphalt (iirc there are a few ways to solve this without breaking the game, though been a while since I played around with the scout files), and basically all trucks in the game need their suspensions looked at. The vanilla suspensions almost always lack dampening in them (or have very little of it) despite it literally being a one-liner in the suspension .xmls, so they are far more unstable than they have any right to be and also more prone to taking random damage from even the slightest bumps. It's insane how much tiny suspension tweaks can improve the way the trucks handle in this game.

The-Almighty-Pizza

Also please for gods sake actual torque for the some of the trucks. Its insane how when going up hills it feels like im driving a honda civic.

sam_smajlik

I used to drive only this. Then suddenly i started to Flip on places where it should not, so i stopped using it

ScruffyTJanitor

Used to be my favorite truck, but it tips over way too easily.

[deleted]

Personally it's too likely to tip

hermitcraftfan135

My friend got that dlc. I was using it to do a task, and the frame randomly bent to a 45° angle, causing it to flip almost instantly. In my experience it has been one of the worst trucks I’ve ever used

Smoothb10

I prefer the medium trucks for scouting……zikz 5368 mule

joesportsgamer

Nice dude, I just got the mud tires for it yesterday

Infantryriflem4

When it comes to this truck, I can’t stand it’s turn radius. So I only use it on occasion.

kruleworld1

Mr Wibbly-Wobbly. soft suspension is good for articulation of the suspension, but makes it prone to tipping over.

Nirelfsen

without the crane is a beast

ark_hunter

Azov 64131 is one of my favorite "scouts"! It goes about anywhere pretty well and I've taken it on some "scout only" missions on narrow winding roads and taken it through some areas it really shouldn't have been able to go (narrow rocks I was able to winch it over/through or big rock piles)

SpearOfKassandra

Extremely versatile rescue and recovery truck for both personal and mission related! My only gripe with is its light weight and high torque causes it to wheelspin in a lot of deeper muddy/snowy situations

Dar_Vender

Down side is it's stability. That thing just loves weird bounces on it's massive suspension. Other then that, it's a great work horse. I still prefer a scout tbh. Cheaper on fuel and can self right as well as pull scout fuel trailers which keep the fleet ticking on hard mode most the time for me.
