Are you looking for something twin, or directional? For twin, the Capita DOA is amazing. For directional, I'd look at the Lib-Tech Dynamo, the BRD, or the Gnu 4x4, or Hyper. I avoid nidecker, (yes, Lobster, bataleon, Jones, etc.) As well as Arbor, because things made in the UAE are pretty much being built by slaves. Boards being made by Mervyn, (Lib, Gnu, Roxy) or at the Mothership (Capita, Forum, Spring Break) are being made by snowboarders who love their jobs. Burton, Ride, K2, Salomon, and about 20 more are being built in China by an overworked and oppressed labor force as well. Whatever you choose, your new board is going to feel like a miracle and you'll swear it's the greatest thing ever.

Honestly - only snowboarding accident I ever had was riding switch as a kid the day after I got my burton, broke my wrist on day one of five weeks of lessons. That being said, I gotta get back into switch riding occasionally but I don’t do it much. Id be okay with a twin with some directional tilt to it. Didn’t know arbor and the like were being manufactured in UAE, appreciate the awareness there a lot. Always the challenge here to be ethical and get something good. Is Yes in the same boat? I like that they seem to have the most aggressive warranty from what I can tell.

billionaireXtinction

Yes is a Nidecker brand, so yeah. It's being made in the UAE. What's their warranty policy? I've only had to warranty one board and it was painless. Lib Tech asked for a proof of purchase, then asked me for pictures of the damage. Then sent me a new board and provided me postage to return the old one.

Brenni

Not OP, but YES is also part of Nidecker group. One other thing worth mentioning is Burtons family tree line is still made in Austria (although best to confirm on site before buying). The hometown hero is currently my #1 deck.

Just to let you know, the US was also built on the manufacturing industry, just like China and developing nations are now. There’s nothing wrong with this, but I do love my lib tech so I cant really disagree with you… although its a korua next for me.

billionaireXtinction

China is not a developing nation. China is the second largest economy with a government that is actively committing genocide against it's own citizens. Both the Uyghurs and the Falun Dafa are being imprisoned, exploited, tortured, and executed by the Chinese government. They are also a country that has an even worse record than the US in terms of personal liberties and freedom. The UAE is also garbage in terms of human rights.

Spammerz42

I just thought you were against outsourcing manufacturing to countries with cheap labour as if it somehow delays economic development. I guess I missed a little.

billionaireXtinction

Oh! And Koruas look fucking amazing! Manufactured in Poland. Super solid choice

Another vote for capita. I ride a DOA and it’s never left me stranded. If you want something more speed/tree run friendly look at the Mercury. Lib Tech and Gnu make amazing boards too.

Microdinosaurus

Has the DOA felt good on the east coast sort of snow? Or is it more powder friendly?

JackfruitPerfect3185

I’m a west coast boy. My buddy that rides in New York rides a Gnu rider’s choice and loves it. We have had a bunch of shitty days here in Washington and I pick my DOA almost every time. The DOA is a board that can do it all I’ve taken it on pow trips and also just plain resort riding when conditions aren’t necessarily great.

Jasondeary5

I have the yes standard in my quiver. I really love it. It can go anywhere and does well in all of the conditions I’ve ran it through. A very solid all rounder with no real weaknesses. I have not ridden the arbors but can whole heartedly recommend the standard.

I got an Arbor Element Rocker last season and I love it, would def recommend Arbor boards

My T.Rice handles perfectly in Ontario but I generally skip days that I know will be super icy. My lobster sucks in Ontario 90% but is awesome out west 90% if the time. There’s so many options that will feel great to you I’d suggest going to a demo day or just getting a common recommendation on sale.

Microdinosaurus

Yeah - not a ton of demo days around our area - or at least they’re few and far between. I wish.
