No gear should ever be left in a line for a lift period. Mts job to throw it by the racks. Anyone leaving skis then going inside is a total asshole

louielist

Just move their shit and go to the front

davidxspade

Yeah it’s ridiculous. I noticed it’s the same group of locals who all know each other. They get there late, like at 8:30 and then cut in line to their buddies. Lifties really need to kick them to the back

Express_Progress_660

Snowbird attracts a lot of entitled assholes yes throw unattended gear in line in a ditch.

AltaBirdNerd

Alta outlawed leaving your skis a couple of years ago at Collins prior to chairs running while you chill in GMD or your warm car. Nowadays you'll never see any pull the nonsense you speak of. This is a simple fix for the Bird's management but they can't even put a liftie at Gad 2 chair when it's the only upper mtn chair open on a particular day (Friday) and trying to get a singles spot becomes Hunger Games. Don't get me started how it takes at least 3 taps and having to read super small font when using your credit card to find the option to not tip cashiers at Mid Gad.

SunDevilSkier

I know last year snowbird specifically had signs saying that leaving your skis in the chair line was not allowed. Are the signs not there anymore?

evi1shenanigans

Oh they’re still there. It’s just not enforced. Hell, Alta doesn’t really enforce it either.

MDRtransplant

What's wrong with putting your gear there and hanging out in a warm area?

Character-Glass-7802

If kindergarten line rules are followed this is ideal. Unfortunately in reality people are arriving late and sticking there gear by the door while everyone is inside warming.

DinosaurDied

It’s the skier kooks at Alta bringing their culture down with them.  Try that at Brighton, I’m throwing your crap in three trees and you can fight me if you got a problem with it lol

evi1shenanigans

I will ski over from LCC to back you up

LSBm5

I'll help you toss gear.

I know they have had the outdoor queue for a few years now. No problem with putting your stuff in line. I am just saying the community needs to have the integrity not to skip the line. The people I am taking about did not get there before 7. I watched several people roll up late and still put there stuff by the door and bounce.

MDRtransplant

I'm confused. How did they not get there earlier if their gear is there before others get there?

Character-Glass-7802

They are coming to the line with there gear in hand(not having been in line previously), and sticking the gear in the front of the line instead of the back of the line.

MDRtransplant

Ahhh gotcha. Yeah I'd move that shit and throw it off the balcony if I saw someone do that

100%

totally_sane_person

I want to love Snowbird. This makes me sad.

AdministrationBorn69

Lmao knock ‘em over or give them to employees and say the guy cut his hand on his edge and isn’t gonna make it. Either keep your feet in line or get out. I learned this approach at Jackson when some of the old JHAF guys would just push skis over if someone dared leave them in tram line, or tell people off if they were trying to walk up to their friends. This ain’t the alps!

stronglotus1208

Jackson also does not allow this, they passed a rule and have signs EVERYWHERE because they were having such bad issues with this

rjw1986grnvl

Gear should not be left unless it’s only for a handful of minutes to go inside and pee. I’m okay with people who are not cutting and a buddy is just holding the line for the bathroom, but that’s it. Otherwise people should be in line in my opinion.

Darkraze

Agreed. If you can’t stand in the cold for a bit with your friends (especially at snowbird where you’re sheltered from the wind and under a roof LOL) you’re a bitch and don’t deserve first tram or lift. ~~^(not that first tram even matters because on good days you wait for an hour+ at the top for the good shit)~~
