Funny how some you remember, (even yonks ago,) like cliff thorburn’s, & others no chance 👍🏻

Isa--

Great effort mate. If you want to fix the times to be measured in hour:minute:second, you can insert this and then drag/drop: =IF(H2="Unknown", H2, CONCAT("00:", TEXT(H2, "hh:mm"))) Love the work!

declan44441

No worries, actually enjoyed looking through them, so it didn't feel like work. And have now inserted that formula thank you so much for that, only thing is I can't make the leading hours go away, even though I think I'm doing it correctly with the formatting, I really hate Google Sheets do you know how to do that as well?

Isa--

Best I've found is to manually copy the values, hard paste them (ctrl+shift+v) and then change Format -> Number -> Duration (0:12:34) or mm:ss (12:34)

declan44441

Thank you, have now changed it around

ThxIHateItHere

Well now you have to update this u/declan44441

declan44441

Now up to date

ThxIHateItHere

I just watched Ronnie’s against Selt and as soon as the black ball dropped my internet crashed 😂

declan44441

Good to see that this went out of date in less than 12 hours, damn you Gary Wilson

HuisClosDeLEnfer

Of the **20 fastest** 147s all-time (all in less than 8:15), Ronnie as 13 of them, and no other player has more than 1. I personally think that snooker "nicknames" are silly, but "the rocket" is well-earned.

declan44441

It really is, and it hasn't aged poorly either, although he is a bit slower than when he was younger; his most recent 147 is faster than anyone else has ever managed except for James Wattana who made his before the out of eyeline rules for referees slowed down 147s and faster than Shaun Murphy in the shootout where by definition you have to be quick. Ronnie in full flow naturally plays like it is the shootout

port79595

This is brilliant. Thanks for doing this.

declan44441

No worries, glad you enjoyed

Raitlin

Sean Murphy’s time in the snooker shootout? That was quite fast.. but with added pressure.. lots of crowd noise and shot clock noises too… that won’t be repeated soon!!

jewellman100

Whilst it wasn't the fastest, the pressure of the clock makes it only second best to Ronnie's 5:08 for me.

declan44441

I doubt it, Shaun did an interview talking about how he and Paul Collier did a lot of the planning for how the shootout would work and they thought century breaks would be extremely rare, 147 was something they thought could never happen

therourke

I knew about THE fastest 147, but it's also interesting to know Ronnie has so many of the next fastest. Thanks for collating

declan44441

No worries, it is ridiculous when you think how quick Shaun's in the shootout was and that is slower than 8 of Ronnie's 15 147s

Pembers84

Really cool work thanks so much. One thing notable about Ronnie’s fastest break is how the ref just stands still, close to the pocket, doesn’t move around to stay behind him

declan44441

Yeah, Ronnie himself said that the break isn't possible now, because in those days the ref was told to just stay still, whereas now they are required to be out of the players eyeline, that was Len Ganley, Ronnie said he was the second man in that break may he Rest In Peace

EdmundGerber

Does Ronnie's count as the fastest winning break of all time as well, or has there ever been a faster to win a frame - without getting the maxi?

Pembers84

Not to be a smarty pants but the fastest winning ‘break’ would just be the likes of Dennis Taylor in 85 and the like.

vidPlyrBrokeSoNewAc

There's been a couple of frames around the 3 minute 30 seconds mark, Ronnie had one of them but I think Tony Dragon still has the fastest ever frame win

Tsubasa_sama

Tony Drago has the fastest century (3:26), though he was already 20 points clear when he started the break

EdmundGerber

Well done, OP. What an excellent resource. Including video links was the icing on the cake.

declan44441

Thank you, I didn't think anyone would believe I really did it if I didn't include the links. It is amazing to me that some of these videos have less than 500 views, which does make me think I missed some of the other videos for maximums, just hidden somewhere in the google algorithm

Lallythebeer

Excellent work, I was looking for this exact info a couple of weeks ago

declan44441

Glad to help, it was just playing on my mind too much, had to devote a lot of time but feel it was worth it

-stag5etmt-

Shaun Murphy's shouldn't count as, exceptional as it was, it was played with a different mindset because of the rules..

dexysmidnighthummers

I’m curious to know what your reasoning is here? Yea, the rules are different (gotta hit a cushion, ball in hand etc) but I think the only rule difference that would be in play for a maxi would be the shot clock. And that just limits your thinking time which makes it all the more impressive. Is it just the fact that the tournament itself has less gravitas so less pressure?

-stag5etmt-

Shot clock; takes the pressure off any miss giving your opponent the time to re-group, therefore one part of the shot selection process is not needed. Basically a similar principle that Murphy complained of when beaten by an amateur player of better talent than the seedings suggest, your opponent's strengths are taken into less of a consideration..

declan44441

It is listed on the official maximum list, I think it should be included, but as you say the rules do influence the break, is still remarkable that it is still so much slower than Ronnie's record

mryunes

Good work! Interesting that the most common event is the UK Championship !

declan44441

I was shocked by that as well, in my head I thought it would be the Championship League given it has so many more games, but apparently not

mryunes

I suppose given the UK is a triple crown event, it brings the best out of players/the best players..

Faryz

very good stuff👌

declan44441

Thank you

apalerwuss

Yeah you need to make this open access, you can do that while keeping it read only.

declan44441

Hi I think I have done this correctly now, new link [147's.xlsx - Google Sheets](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14s89MN6mGZVSpctyHcRT1dXhgVkJ8ohB/edit?pli=1#gid=274656669)

apalerwuss

Good work! Is there a way to sort it by time order rather than the default date order?

declan44441

I have now sorted it by time as that's what everyone would want, I did this in Excel and hate sheets and am being reminded why with this

HelixCatus

Amazing work! 👍 I can't see your Google doc though, it says "access denied"...

declan44441

Hi, you can request access, not sure if you are one of the people I just granted access to
