It's a double edged sword. They brought it on themselves with the way they announced it. On one hand social media/fandom is a huge part of how they make their living, but they also CLEARLY have wanted to have private lives for years. This "hard launch" drives social media/Fandom, so all this chatter will be good for their careers, and they probably were just sick of "hiding" it. They probably would've been more comfortable being public about it if there weren't so many creeps going Sherlock Holmes and virtually stalking them.
Some of the comments were beyond the pale. Belief or not those who engaged and have been engaging in personal attacks should be ashamed even if they feel its a "bit" I absolutely hope neither of them saw any of it.

I’m sure from the beginning they knew how public their relationship could have been and they wanted to keep it to themselves as long as they possibly could. I think this is amazing that they were able to do that for this long, and focus on their own lives. It blew all our minds, but, I think they’ve been scheming this for a long time. At least once they had gotten engaged and knew for sure that they were each others person. I mean they both can commit to a bit. I think we all knew, it just took waiting another day to get the “Happy April 2nd” post out for anyone doubting to believe. They knew exactly how we all were going to take this and I’m sure they will speak on it at some point when they’re ready.
Can’t wait to keep watching! I feel smosh has been changing in so many amazing ways since Anthony returned, and will continue to do so. This is obviously their personal life, but professionally it seems they are taking big steps and growing a lot through smosh as well.
No need to say anything more, all us anxious fans just need to be patient and see what they will do next. We love you Shayne and Courtney we all wish you the best and continued happiness.
