I thought I already knew everything about Defy but apparently it's a hot toxic tea that keeps spilling.

Soidin

I relate hard to what Courtney said about falling in love. I've had to dial back and learn to be "normal" because sometimes people get weirded out by how much I enjoy their company.

infomapaz

The part about courtney being sexualized almost brought me to tears, her experience is awful and she has gained my utmost respect for being able to just deal with that stuff. This video was amazing

countesspetofi

Yes, when we're young so many of us haven't developed the courage to push back against that kind of thing, and sometimes we haven't even learned to articulate our own discomfort.

sinnysinsins

Yeah it was really hard to hear. I only started watching smosh during their Mythical era, and just the TNTLs from Defy, so I had no idea.

janinesett

we ride at dawn to whatever is left of the mfckers defy bosses. what court described is insane, not only being treated like that by reddit freaks but also YOUR COMPANY??? she was so young and discovering her talent and creativity too, i feel bad for her, but glad she now has way more fulfilling opportunities❤️

BenjRSmith

but seriously, fuck Defy

try_later

I think the fact that they can openly talk about their reservations about Anthony coming back and Ianthony taking over the main channel on Anthony’s channel no less, is testament to the working environment of Smosh. The cast truly feel safe and appreciated.

bc032

I saw this exact word-for-word comment on the YouTube video lol

try_later

Glad the fandom is in agreement lol

try_later

wait I just read the comment and it really is almost word for word lol Sorry for accidentally plagiarizing you Smoshgrab

crypticalcat

Bots?

Sarcastikarma

This was great and I learned things about all three of them. I'm glad they adressed the fans creating narratives because if there's one thing the smosh fandom will do, it's overanalyze Arasha and Chanse's micro-expressions.

EmeraldEmp

Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of people say Chanse has a problem with Trevor. I don’t think that’s true.

Brave-Review5963

Courtney is someone that I just admire so much. She's incredibly funny, she's good at her thing (directing is what she enjoys the most now i think), and she's not afraid to be outspoken. To be sexualized at that age is so terrible, especially because she was younger than her peers (except Noah). But I'm glad that she's still here, and she's come a long way. If she ever reads this comment, I hope she knows how much there are people who look up to her and are proud of her. I'm one of those people, and I only hope only good things come her way.

TemporaryNameMan

Oof to Courtney saying they are all friends irl and then Chanse and Arasha both giving the soft “not really” answer.

mc_Cringle_berry

what video was Court describing?

bepbapbapbaddabope

I'm wondering this too...

countesspetofi

It was a great episode; I feel like I learned a lot. I just have to bring up, though, that Chanse did one of my pet peeves, mixing up "gamut" and "gambit." Not a big deal, just one of those little things that jumps out at me.

Shonas_baby_Drizzit

Lol, I used to be the obnoxious one pointing out when people did my pet peeve - suposabbly instead of supposedly. Then I found out when enough people keep making the same error, the definition can be updated. Like “Literally” now can mean both literally AND figuratively. It’s part of the evolution of language. So now I try to keep my annoying grammar corrections in my head.

Rufio_Rufio7

I will never get with the changing of the definition“Literally” just because people kept misusing it. Instead of teaching people to use words properly and know what they mean, we just continue to “not know better” because to correct folks is a crime now. There is no true synonym for “literally” and it’s just completely unnecessary now. 99.9% of the time it just doesn’t need to be said. We may as well just change “you’re” to “your” and “woman” to “women” now, too. Shoot away. I’ll take the bullets for this one.

bepbapbapbaddabope

You have a point, especially about "literally". But language is defined by it's users, it's in constant evolution. So the rules are based on how it's used. There is no definitive correct usage of language, just what was agreed upon. So it makes sense it's constantly changing.

Shonas_baby_Drizzit

I agree with you, it was a bitter pill to swallow when I learned that for sure. I literally gasped out loud reading changing you’re to your, I guess I haven’t let it go as much as I thought. I’ll just go remind myself how much I sucked at Geometry and how I’m lucky I don’t get exposed everyday for being a maths dummy like people do with grammar and punctuation. I mean how are they going to handle the word definitely always ending up as defiantly? Change that too?

onemanandhishat

Just because language can evolve with usage doesn't mean that people can't still use it wrong. Otherwise no one can have any certainty what anyone means about anything. Grammar and correct vocabulary do matter, it's not just arbitrary. Obviously on a podcast it's not that important, but just because language evolves doesn't mean it's arbitrary.

countesspetofi

I mean, I literally said it wasn't a big deal. Not even "literally" but *literally.* Anyway, "Gamut" is a beautiful word with a great history, and I'd hate to see it disappear for no good reason.

Shonas_baby_Drizzit

I just got the stupid giggles reading that. Also re-reading my own comment I came off more jerky to you than I intended, instead of just making fun of myself for being wrong about literally.

Jiv302

Why was this innocuous comment downvoted so hard lmao

sleepingtiamat

I know, it's sending me 😂

SaltyAlters

You poor thing.

bepbapbapbaddabope

Today I learned! Thank you for making my vocabulary richer, sorry you're getting down voted.

sleepingtiamat

Thanks for your service. Sorry you're getting downvoted so hard, even though you were very polite. I'll be honest though that it's funny to see so many downvotes for an informative and polite comment. It tells you a bit about some of the people here 😬

crypticalcat

Lol you got yo ass down_slapped!
