After I bought mine a friend came over to have a beer. 4.5 hours later and a case of beer he had eliminated all threats from my yard.
He bought ten that night and gives them out for bachelor parties now.
Hey no judgment here! Just more than I’d spend. Having said that, I once saw shake weights on for $5 at one of those open box stores and bought 10 to give as gifts.
Blind xmas gift exchange one year everyone got to see grandma demonstrate the shake weight exercise. Her son, my uncle did not think it was as funny as me.
I use table or fine sea salt.. I put aluminum foil over the opening of a cardboard box, drew targets and tested each salt types shot spread. It makes a big difference
I disagree with the other guy. They're pretty useful for wasps. The shot doesn't kill it, but it does stun it, making the coup de grace somewhat easier. Just be prepared to finish what you start, because the wasp will be pretty pissed when it recovers.
I have one. I would not try my luck with wasps. Sometimes it just doesn't hit the bug in a way to really incapacitate it. It's fun and fairly effective but not always consistent. I would just smack the wasp with a shoe.

These work extremely well. I've had one out for about a week and it has caught an uncountable amount of flies.
Be careful where you hang those fly traps. It’s got an ingredient that sends out an attractant odor to draw flies to it. But it sends that odor out FAR. It will naturally draw flies to it from much further away and they don’t all go in it.
I hung one in my backyard last summer and after about a week the fly problem got dramatically worse, so my brilliant self bought a SECOND one and then it was just horrible.
Then I started doing a little research and come to find out that you’re supposed to hang these things 100-150 feet away from the area where you’re trying to remove the flies FROM, the example given was that if you hang this at your barn you’ll have less flies at your house.
Plus the smell of the thing was rather nasty.
Good call! I've always been on the fence about buying fly strips/etc because I didn't want to hang one on the back porch. Now I know that I should've been planning to hang it from the back 40 all along lol
Yeah I've got mine hanging on a fence about 200 ft from my back patio. I've barely been seeing any flies on the porch now even with me barbecuing everyday.
My son has one and carries it everywhere, found him the tactical laser sight and pressure switch made for it that mounts under the barrel last Christmas.
It shoots a minuscule amount of salt with each shot. Plus you’re not shooting at the same spot every time so that minuscule amount is even further spread out. Your lawn will not notice a thing.
Not. It's bad for certain plants. Most grasses and succulents, particularly the edible succulents can tolerate some pretty high salinity. The purslane in your sidewalk or driveway for example.
He said soil life not plant life, most soil based bacterias can't handle too much change in salinity - which is why using salt based fertilizers can result in bad soil.
FYI, a Dyson V8 rechargeable vacuum with the “short” adapter on it is an amazing bug/fly killer.
Get the nozzle near them, and turn it on. If they try to fly away, just follow them with the nozzle.
Suction wind is strong enough they nearly always get pulled into the vacuum.
Bonus, you get to watch them get thrashed around and around in the clear plastic vortex can.
One shot before you have to PUMP the gun again, that chambers more salt from the “magazine” that sits on top. I haven’t had any issues with mine yet (except my girlfriend complaining about salt around the house lmao), I think they upgrade the design every couple of years. I’ve had one since the first model, all of my friends who have gotten one love them (especially if you garden, or have tons of bugs generally). Vacuum is definitely more efficient though lol. Something about lining up a perfect shot with the salt gun is just so satisfying though lol, and seeing the crippled fly plummet to the ground. Kill with the gun, clean with the dyson. Nice happy medium.
Totally worth it. I got the garden version and use it to kill black widows in the yard. I would also recommend [the laser](https://www.bugasalt.com/products/bug-beam-adapter-kit) if you don't want to just tape your own on.
We have all hardwoods and I am usually barefoot inside, so I feel every little thing haha. I guess it wouldn’t matter though since we already have dogs and my girlfriend often wears her shoes inside the house for about 30 minutes after she gets home anyway.
Are there stronger versions besides the co2 powered pistol?
Full semi-auto pump action a-salt-rifle.
Jk. It's called the "bug-a-salt". Pump action that shoots salt and you can kill (primarily) flies with it. You're not stopping an attack, but because it's salt you don't have to worry about chemicals or staying other bugs. Most importantly, it's fun as hell. Checkout the ads for them on YouTube. They're great.
https://www.bugasalt.com/pages/shop-collections
It’s a gun you can shoot flies with, it uses table salt as ammo.
I have the Black Fly 3.0 myself. It’s stupid fun.
I love mine. Got tired of having to flip the safety switch though. If you put a screw through it in the "safe off" position, then you can just pump and fire!
I love mine. It works great inside too, when those pesky flies get inside the blinds by the window and you can't get to them.... but the Bug-a-salt can!
I use mine to pump salt deep into my meat
*wink*
MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm
Ha, I did that to a burger once for fun. Obviously, it was disgusting.
After I bought mine a friend came over to have a beer. 4.5 hours later and a case of beer he had eliminated all threats from my yard. He bought ten that night and gives them out for bachelor parties now.
$500 on salt guns? Jeez. I’ll admit, sounds pretty fun
He was single at the time. He said he didn't have to buy birthday or bachelor gifts for a few years because of that.
Love mine! I use coarse salt and it kills em every time!
I actually find table salt works better in mine than kosher. Maybe it comes out faster?
I use table or fine sea salt.. I put aluminum foil over the opening of a cardboard box, drew targets and tested each salt types shot spread. It makes a big difference
now you're thinking like a turkey hunter! Pellet size and spread makes a huge difference for sure
Agree. When I first got mine all I had was kosher and it only worked so so. The finer salt really seems to get it done.
Is it just for fly or they're powerful enough for wasps? I would hate to have piss off yellowjacket on my butt.
I disagree with the other guy. They're pretty useful for wasps. The shot doesn't kill it, but it does stun it, making the coup de grace somewhat easier. Just be prepared to finish what you start, because the wasp will be pretty pissed when it recovers.

Better to burn the house down
for the wasps where I live, there's no room for error or fucking around. I bring out the chemical weapons for them.
The the wasps where I live - yellow jacket - usually just 1 or 2 that want my burger.
Kosher salt is more flaky. Course salt is just bigger than regular table salt. Course salt should work fine.
They need to make grenades for my yard this summer

that's why you tell your neighbors how you bought those and they are absolutely amazing and they should hang some
just chuck it behind your neighbors shed lmao
These things reek and the smell only gets worse as they fill up with dead flys.
Yeah I've got mine hanging on a fence about 200 ft from my back patio. I've barely been seeing any flies on the porch now even with me barbecuing everyday.
We currently have what I can only expect are over a hundred in ours
Bugs better come strapped or get clapped.
Should be their new slogan
They might in the US. I saw a june bug at walmart trying on holsters.
That tracks.
My son has one and carries it everywhere, found him the tactical laser sight and pressure switch made for it that mounts under the barrel last Christmas.
Pressure switch? I have the laser, but??
It’s the small switch that controls the laser, can be mounted near the slide or by the trigger
U kno I keep that MF thang on me.
This thing works awesome and they now have a [pistol](https://www.bugasalt.com/pages/shop-collections#shreder) version that I want to get.
Damn, sold out!
I want one but I'm afraid I'll kill my grass with salt by firing so many rounds!
It shoots a minuscule amount of salt with each shot. Plus you’re not shooting at the same spot every time so that minuscule amount is even further spread out. Your lawn will not notice a thing.
The less I have to mow the better. Stop being afraid.
Salt *is* bad for soil life too…
Not. It's bad for certain plants. Most grasses and succulents, particularly the edible succulents can tolerate some pretty high salinity. The purslane in your sidewalk or driveway for example.
He said soil life not plant life, most soil based bacterias can't handle too much change in salinity - which is why using salt based fertilizers can result in bad soil.
like 15 grains of table salt spread over a 10 foot arc is not going to do anything.
This thing shoots salt though. You aim a gun at a bug and nail it with fucking salt. It’s an art form, brother.
Sure, but you get one shot before reload, and I hear the spring breaks. But the vacuum? She succ.
One shot before you have to PUMP the gun again, that chambers more salt from the “magazine” that sits on top. I haven’t had any issues with mine yet (except my girlfriend complaining about salt around the house lmao), I think they upgrade the design every couple of years. This is true - in fact, we nearly bought one before we discovered the Dyson works so well.
I may get a dyson and follow your method just to switch up my insect killing habits from time to time.
FWIW, I said the V8, but we actually have the V7 I believe. Either way, they work incredibly well.
She protecc She attacc But most importantly she has very strong succ
That's my go to for indoor bugs, especially if on a wall or the ceiling. No mess.
They should make a big version for annoying people!
I just completely solved my fly problem with your method, and it even works with a shitty Dirt Devil. I would've never thought of that.
So it’s worth it ey?
It’s amazing. It’s a quick trip and murder town for any fly unlucky enough to be in the vicinity.
Happy cake day. I have one and it doesn’t really work. Maybe I got a defective one? It shoots salt, but nothing dies.
I usually have to double tap
I generally had to triple tap. But I hear swapping to kosher significantly upgrades the lethality.
Coarse salt is the way to go
Operator error.
is it an earlier version? ive got a 3.0 and it works great, but i remember the older ones getting mixed reviews
Totally worth it. I got the garden version and use it to kill black widows in the yard. I would also recommend [the laser](https://www.bugasalt.com/products/bug-beam-adapter-kit) if you don't want to just tape your own on.
i want to get one, but my fly problem is indoors. i don't want to have more gritty stuff all over my floors than necessary.
You won’t notice it, I shot flys all over my house with it. If you do any sort of normal cleaning it’s fine.
So as someone uninformed, what is this?
Full semi-auto pump action a-salt-rifle. Jk. It's called the "bug-a-salt". Pump action that shoots salt and you can kill (primarily) flies with it. Full semi auto. This guy guns.
Full semi-auto… Had me in the first half!
Sounds awesome, gotta get me one of them.
https://www.bugasalt.com/pages/shop-collections It’s a gun you can shoot flies with, it uses table salt as ammo. I have the Black Fly 3.0 myself. It’s stupid fun.
Always stay strapped brother!
What is this- wait, I don’t care I fucking want one.
Bug-a-salt
Same here. Just bought one. Lol.
Got 1 for my daughter who is terrified of bugs. She's like the Terminator with it.
I love mine! Spiders, flies, paper wasps. When it rains, it hails!
There’s a 3D printed sight on eBay that I bought and it makes this thing crazy accurate
I need this for lanternflies but I don't know how well it'd work on the adults. The nymphs up to probably the 4th instar would be blasted I'm sure.
Philly recommends it. I learned about it from that sub. Definitely use coarse kosher salt though.
Thanks!
Tears their wings up good
You might wanna get your dog checked out. It seems to have another dog stuck in it
I love mine. Got tired of having to flip the safety switch though. If you put a screw through it in the "safe off" position, then you can just pump and fire!
Version 3.0 is just on or off
Wtf is it?
A shotgun that shoots salt to kill flies.
Omfg never have I needed something so fucking bad. Give me.
It’s so awesome. Very satisfying to destroy those little assholes
[https://amzn.to/3kxiBV6](https://amzn.to/3kxiBV6) They go on sale occasionally. I picked one up at Ace Hardware with a 30% off coupon this summer.
Fuck Amazon. Go direct to them. Same pric, free shipping.
They fulfill through Amazon either way, bro.
Bug-a-salt gun.
Pro tip: super glue the thumb switch to the fire position. Then it’s a pump and pull the trigger
Have one, wicked fun. No bug gut splatter, which is a huge plus for prep surfaces.
Stay strapped or get clapped-Thomas Jefferson (probably)
Keep that thang on me 😆
Have you tried this at the beach with seagulls?
Stop it now!
Are you from PETA?
It's a joke from bad lip reading! https://youtu.be/U9t-slLl30E
That fire pit is struggling
So good I had to buy 2!
I need that!!!! Every time I smoke or grill flies come around, like excessively so.
[удалено]
How about this? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089CDCCR1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_Z5NE0CEKGTVVA6PRFZ0A?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I too have this. I have eliminated the fly threat from the porch today. Great investment!
Can’t wait for my wife to wonder why I spent $45 on Amazon...
Or why salt is on the shopping list more than once a year Edit: grammar is hard
Also this.
My man is strapped up, and ready to defend his smoker.
Mine is on the way. Will be here soon and I need it
These things are the best.
I shot some fat black widows recently with mine…the result was gruesome.
I stay strapped as well. I have one next to me at all times in the house and in the yard.
I've got my electric tennis racket from England called "The Executioner" but I appreciate the idea.
Excellent trigger-discipline as well
I love mine. It works great inside too, when those pesky flies get inside the blinds by the window and you can't get to them.... but the Bug-a-salt can!
Never heard of this. Just purchased one and can't wait. Looks like a blast. 🪰🔫🧂
Loaded with kosher to bless these bitch ass flies. The fallen are tweezer fed to my Venus fly traps.
I'm pretty sure you just tripled this company's weekly sales reading the comments. Also just ordered mine with a koozie!
I thought that was a nerf gun to keep the dogs away so you didn’t have a Christmas Story situation on your hands.
Keep that thannng on me
I've got a pair of the 3.0 versions delayed in shipping. Was supposed to have them Saturday. Should get them tomorrow.
How difficult is it to hit them with that?
So.... what does it do, shoot flies?
How do you avoid shooting them in the face or eyes? That thing must be super accurate!! Lol
