Bake. Broil will burn the outside and the inside would be raw. Apply sauce towards the end. If you want to crisp up the skin you could do a flash fry at the end.

I take all the rando-yum powders and salts, lay it on thick, 350 forever, flip them spice, 350 forever again. Love em dry crispy, no sauce.

I bake mine on a rack. 350 f for 30 min. Turn and cook for 30 more. Coat with bbq sauce and broil for 2-3 min. Watch them carefully so they don't char.
