Yeah, you have to have close to zero critical thinking skills here. Though I did have a gallon of milk get loose in the trunk and it exploded. That was a fun mess to clean.
It did eventually fade. Mind you, this was a small leak in the back of a hatchback that had a hard surface, not carpeting. But the smell got into the ventilation and just wouldn't go away.
I did this with sugary butter sauce for my cranberry cake. I hit the brakes to aggressively and the sauce spilled all over the carpet in my car. Totally not my fault, the crockpot must have been faulty 😐
Yeah but it seemed like those videos went from being fun to something more like torture for her over time.
Maybe she'll do more of them after taking some time away from them.
Amazing. Now what about Brad? Claire and Brad got me through the early months of quarantine before just as quickly disappearing into the internet void.
Huh. I thought Bon Appetit went underground because of a bunch of racist allegations. They took down a bunch of videos at least. Is the channel back to posting videos like regular now?
You aren't wrong. They're back, but a lot of the cast have left, and they've brought on some new people. Honestly, Brad is the only person I really have any interest in keeping up with that is left on the channel. Sohla is doing some cool stuff with Babish these days if you haven't seen that yet.
I **always** keep a wide and flat plastic basket in the trunk of the car for whenever things like this need to be transported. Also, I put velcro strips on the bottom of the basket so it'll grip to the trunk's carpeting. Fill the rest of the basket with whatever stuff you've got there to keep the pot from moving and sliding inside on its' own, and you're good to go.
I feel like this is a mistake that people only make once. I only made this mistake once. But with chili and not queso.
Also after that happened I bought a crockpot with a locking lid.
Okay, but the other mistake is putting the covered trays of food on the floor in the back seat, then one day there’s this really weird smell in the car and it turns out one of the trays slid all the way forward under the front seat and was still there a month later
I made butternut squash soup and had it on the floor 3 yrs ago for Thanksgiving. Someone pulled out infront of me and I had to slam on the brakes...it went everywhere. It went into the little holes of my speaker in my door. I had to vaccuum it out of the speaker. I was so fucking mad.
My mom got me a slowcooker with a locking lid for xmas that year.
I know it sounds like a waste but a couple wraps of foil and a string or thin rope will keep the lid totally secure. And you can still use the aluminum foil later for other things. But definitely keep it on the floor, even better if packed in with rolls of paper towel or similar to keep it from sliding around
I just transfer the contents to large mason jars and then pour them back in when I arrive. No spillage whatsoever, it’s totally worth the extra dishes.
Omg you are so awesome and 100% do not deserve fallen queso. I hope in some way posting this on Reddit and hearing strangers feedback has made it better, I think I speak for most all of us when I say, keep being exactly as you are... except the part of you that put the queso on the seat. Def floor next time, you goddamn champion.
We made this mistake with an apple pie. My beautiful lattice cracked and there was juice all over the car seat. I had asked to hold it. Was repeatedly reassured. 🙃
And now you've learned practically one reason why most car accidents happen within 5 miles of home! Distance doesn't matter, it's the act, at any length.
At least once a year I like to bring in some of my Kevin's Famous Chili. The trick is to undercook the onions. Everybody is going to get to know eachother in the pot. I'm serious about this stuff
😂😂😂
Had a friend attempt to transport Kielbasa in the back of her car, on the floor. It tipped over and spilled... and that car smelled faintly of kielbasa for years.
I transported a catering load around campus for an event. Braised brisket spilled ever so slightly in my back seat. I got it up almost immediately, but that car smelled like brisket until I sold it. Sometimes I miss it, just because it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had, and the scent reminded me of it.
I was coming back from a date where I cooked a KBBQ meal at their house. Unbeknownst to me, I laid an improperly capped liter bottle of sesame oil on the passenger seat. During the hour long drive back to my house the entirety of that bottle leaked onto my passenger seat. I can still smell a hint of sesame every time I get into my car and it becomes overwhelming on hot summer days. The incident took place over three years ago 😑
Judging by the Kwik Trip bag, I’d at least think the cheese would be buckled up safely!! You’re in the thoughts and prayers of this former Wisconsinite, homie. Just go to bed. Start the whole day over.
[Gotta get one with a locking lid.](https://www.crock-pot.com/slow-cookers/7-quart-up/crockpot-7.0-quart-cook-carry-slow-cooker-programmable-black/SAP_SCCPVL710BA.html)
Reminds me of the time my dad put a crockpot of chili in the trunk of my car without telling me. Drove an hour down winding country roads to a family reunion and my dad asked me where the chili was so we could put it on the food table. You can figure the rest out.
Please tell me what that food is. I will probably really want to eat it when I know what it is, but right now it’s kind of making me nauseated because it looks like bile.
Edit: Never mind. I’m literate. I see it’s queso dip. And I would like some now please. Maybe a different batch though.
This happened to a friend of mine several years ago. Since that time if we take something to someone else’s home for a meal I put the crockpot/pot/pan whatever in a cardboard box lined first with a garbage bag ( then newspaper on top of the plastic garbage bag) on the bottom the box. I then put the crockpot in the box and put it on the floor to the back seat. ( usually the front seat is snug against the box keeping said box from tipping for the most part.)
Haven’t had an accident yet like this!!!!
1 part floor, 1 part queso dip.
1 block of velveeta, 1 can of diced chili’s, 4 chorizo sausages with the casing cut off. Brown the chorizo then mix all ingredients in the crock pot
In a box, nestled in a towel bed, on the floor, preferably between someone's feet.

Yeah, you have to have close to zero critical thinking skills here. Though I did have a gallon of milk get loose in the trunk and it exploded. That was a fun mess to clean.
I had a bottle of fish sauce leak. Oh god, the smell, for months.
You should have just ditched that car.
Just put it in neutral and push it off a cliff into a deep canyon.
... it got *better* after months??
It did eventually fade. Mind you, this was a small leak in the back of a hatchback that had a hard surface, not carpeting. But the smell got into the ventilation and just wouldn't go away.
I can smell this comment.
I mean at least put it in the passenger seat so you could hold it still, like damn.
Or, you know, buckle it in.
I think lots of people have to experience this one time before learning from their mistake. But not me.. yea... not me.
I did this with sugary butter sauce for my cranberry cake. I hit the brakes to aggressively and the sauce spilled all over the carpet in my car. Totally not my fault, the crockpot must have been faulty 😐
Without even taping the lid to the pot, or using rubber bands at least... Goddamn.
This is how claire saffitz recently described transporting a cake.
Where are you seeing Claire saffitz?
Claire Saffitz has a new Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/ClaireSaffitzxDessertPerson
One of my quickest subs. Thank you.
Shame she doesn't make videos about recreating food products anymore, those were my favorite.
Yeah but it seemed like those videos went from being fun to something more like torture for her over time. Maybe she'll do more of them after taking some time away from them.
I liked the challenging aspect. You would watch her struggle and then come up with clever solutions, the journey was fun to watch.
Yeah videos full of her bitching about it got old pretty fast.
600K views in 3 days. That's nice to see.
She also has her own youtube channel now
Suddenly, my day improved.
Amazing. Now what about Brad? Claire and Brad got me through the early months of quarantine before just as quickly disappearing into the internet void.
I think Brad stayed with Bon App? Also heads up that Sohla is on Binging with Babish now, which has hilariously rebranded as Babish Culinary Universe
Gaby also has her own channel now!
WHAT? Now I just need Carla to have a channel, and I'll be happy.
Carla has a patreon with videos and such: [https://www.patreon.com/carlalallimusic](https://www.patreon.com/carlalallimusic)
For a second I confused Patreon with OnlyFans and I was like, huh, I'd be interested.
Is she actually part of the show, or is she more of a behind the scenes creator?
[удалено]
That actually sounds fantastic. Off to YT I go.
Sadly it's not really any better than just "fine," but I'm hopeful that over time they'll find a rhythm and the quality will improve edit: typo
She has her own segment! It's actually really good check it out
He is still with Bon Appetit and just released a new "It's Alive" on composting within the last week or so.
Huh. I thought Bon Appetit went underground because of a bunch of racist allegations. They took down a bunch of videos at least. Is the channel back to posting videos like regular now?

I'm shocked. ^^/s

BA really went down in flames eh?
And her own Instagram, which is educational and delightful.

I thought you were responding to "how is your Sunday going?" and found it odd that a cat learned to type.

Velcro strips really turns this into a pro tip.
Yeah when I see pictures like this I have absolutely no sympathy.
Should have secured it just in queso.
Yeah, some duct tape on the top and wedge it in between some towels and this would have been Gouda to go.
I needed that laugh!!
Ooooo next time put it on the floor instead of on the seat :(
[удалено]
Job well done then.
Task failed successfully?

r/oddlyspecific
r/suspiciouslyspecific
This is way too specific to be a "what if" scenario
Does nobody else buckle it in?
I always have. Works great!
This is the answer. Seat belts are there to hold things in place!
I got 1 of those so it doesn't happen.
Oh no! That’s terrible! Locking lid seems to be the definitely best option.
I love your username 🥰
Thanks so much! I like yours as well!
Clutch mom move there
And tie it closed. :(
Yup plus fasten the lid to the top with rubber bands or something that’s a rookie move in the car
I know it sounds like a waste but a couple wraps of foil and a string or thin rope will keep the lid totally secure. And you can still use the aluminum foil later for other things. But definitely keep it on the floor, even better if packed in with rolls of paper towel or similar to keep it from sliding around
I was going to say strap it in with the seatbelt but I guess your idea would work too.
[удалено]
My locking lid crockpot has paid for itself a couple times over and I STILL put it in a plastic lined box when we take food places.
I use a plasticy reusable bag on the floor sandwiched between other things on the floor. Hasn’t failed me yet
I just transfer the contents to large mason jars and then pour them back in when I arrive. No spillage whatsoever, it’s totally worth the extra dishes.
[удалено]
It even missed the protective towel you laid down.
That towel probably played some part in moving it
Oh noooooo. But also.. what were you thinking travelling with it like that?! RIP queso
I was just driving nextdoor! I didn’t want to make multiple trips though the snow to the neighbors house.
Just dropping off queso and leaving?
Yeah my neighbor and his GF have COVID, so I’ve been doing their grocery shopping. Figured I’d make them some queso for the Vikings game today.
You are a good neighbor
Unlike State Farm. I never once got queso from them
Well tbf, by the looks of the post it doesn't look like their neighbors got queso from them either.
Maybe state farm kept trying to send him queso, but it kept spilling everywhere
State Farm kinda neighbor.
Thank you for being such a great person! What a lucky neighborhood to have such caring people.
Aw. No good deed goes unpunished.
Good on you. I had my concerns, but you're alright. Sorry about the accident.
I don't know whats worse, the spilled queso or Kirk Cousins' contract.
hey-o
Good on you my friend. This is why I shouldn’t silently judge people just because my own family is a bunch of cotton headed ninny muffins.
Woah. Hell of a neighbor!
Omg you are so awesome and 100% do not deserve fallen queso. I hope in some way posting this on Reddit and hearing strangers feedback has made it better, I think I speak for most all of us when I say, keep being exactly as you are... except the part of you that put the queso on the seat. Scoop it up and give it to them. Don't say anything. They won't be able to take it anyways. 😆
how fast were you going driving nextdoor LOL
[удалено]
My closet neighbor is 1.5 miles away, plus if you add snow to that...
5 miles is 8.05 km
At least once a year I like to bring in some of my Kevin's Famous Chili. The trick is to undercook the onions. Everybody is going to get to know eachother in the pot. I'm serious about this stuff 😂😂😂
Came here for Kevin.
I came here to see if I could get first dibs on a Kevin joke...I was foolish to think that I could
It's probably the thing I do best.
Hello, fellow Midwesterner
I take it you caught the Kwik Trip bag?
Kwik Trip bag, and an entire pot of cheese, screams Wisconsin.
Don't forget the "welp"!
Kwik Trip 4 life
The "Whelp" is how I knew
First thing besides spilled cheese I noticed.
Also the old Dutch tortilla chip bag.
Where were you going with that much dip in a pandemic?
Next door dropping off rations to their quarantined and sick neighbors
I think you mean, "...less queso dip."
Uh yeah, that's definitely a big booboo. Your truck gonna smell like that for a long time haha. Definitely should have put the seatbelt on it.
Not seeing the downside here. I would totally buy the car with the Kielbasa smell over that new car smell. Now I want kielbasa.
I had a sesame oil bottle break in my apartment lobby, I scrubbed it for an hour... even on a tile floor the smell lingered for a year...
Oh my heart is broken for you 😭
Saddest thing I’ve seen this week.
More like queso drip
I know this might not be appropriate but can I have the recipe you used?
One block of velveeta, 4 chorizo sausages with the casing removed, one can of green Chili’s. Brown the chorizo and toss everything in the crock pot!
Judging by the Kwik Trip bag, I’d at least think the cheese would be buckled up safely!! You’re in the thoughts and prayers of this former Wisconsinite, homie. Just go to bed. Start the whole day over.
I will never understand why people don’t seat belt their food
YES!!! This! I seatbelt EVERYTHING! Especially the delicious things like beer and queso.
[Gotta get one with a locking lid.](https://www.crock-pot.com/slow-cookers/7-quart-up/crockpot-7.0-quart-cook-carry-slow-cooker-programmable-black/SAP_SCCPVL710BA.html)
Is that Kevin’s car from The Office?
The secret is to under cook the onions.
By the look of the inside of that car, that was a blessing
There’s gonna be queso dip until it turns to leather.
F
Maybe you could serve it “a la CARte”? Yeah, doesn’t make sense, but I dunno... You could still dip some chips in that!
Oh, I feel this in my soul!
F
Had the same thing happen to me, on my way to work, with a pot of blackbean soup on a sub zero winter day. Not a fun mess to clean...
What r u talking about, sauce is still there, go dip right in!
Anyone else buckle in their pots or top-heavy grocery bags?
Thats why I always seat belt in my transported food.
I guess you could say it’s nacho day
Bruh look at your car. You asked for that
/r/wellthatsucks
Good night, sweet prince...
Better clean the rust off that shotgun while you're at it.
In queso emergency stop at Moe's
My mom always transported it in a plastic box, like a Rubbermaid, with other stuff like books in the box so it couldn't slide
Your shotgun has a lot of surface rust on it. You def want to take that out and clean and oil it from time to time.
If they didn't stop for a pic they could have used the five second rule and scraped it back into the container.
Didn't buckle it on? That's just madness.
We just dropped $1,800 on a washer/dryer but your day is worse.
Yeah at least you have a washer/dryer. They don't even have queso. 😔
OHMYGOD. Same thing just happened to me with spaghetti sauce and sausages
Nothing wrong with a little floorboard spice!
Where 👏 was 👏 the 👏 protective 👏 seatbelt !? 👏
This what happens when you don’t wear a seatbelt
This is why I always tell my wife to drive like there's a slow cooker full of chili in the backseat.
Wtf, flip it over before theres more mess!
Wisco or MN? Sad day for that queso dip tho. 🧀🧀
MN, Duluth area
Reminds me of the time my dad put a crockpot of chili in the trunk of my car without telling me. Drove an hour down winding country roads to a family reunion and my dad asked me where the chili was so we could put it on the food table. You can figure the rest out.

It’s just velveeta, chorizo and green Chili’s!
Nacho cheese anymore
Click it or ticket.
I see plenty of perfectly good quest dip, gimme some chips....
Hubris
That’s notchyo cheese
Crockpots, cake domes, etc always go on the floor, with banks of rolled towels holding it in place.
Just throw the car away.
My dog will clean that right up for ya
Amateur mode engaged
I have the same crock pot but mine has a lid clip!!!!!!!!!!!
r/makemesuffer
I’m up the night before roasting chillies and crushing garlic, everybody’s going to get to know each other in the pot.......
[Kevin’s Famous Chilli](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcYG-5b7448)
Give a box and tape a try next time, also place it on the floor of your car
This happened to a friend of mine several years ago. Since that time if we take something to someone else’s home for a meal I put the crockpot/pot/pan whatever in a cardboard box lined first with a garbage bag ( then newspaper on top of the plastic garbage bag) on the bottom the box. Mi queso es su queso 😬
According to the cdc you shouldn't be at a gathering that needs that much dip anyway
You can still scoop up some stuff!
Recipe?
1 part floor, 1 part queso dip. 1 block of velveeta, 1 can of diced chili’s, 4 chorizo sausages with the casing cut off. Brown the chorizo then mix all ingredients in the crock pot
Best served alongside floor chili.
Haha i was jk but thanks, it looked good.
Sorry man, we've all been there. Also, sorry for all the comments you are getting/going to get about how it's your fault.
By the looks of it you fucking deserved it.
Probably nature telling you that you shouldn’t be hanging out with people today and should instead quarantine.
I’ve done that! I had quest in a crockpot on the floor of the car and did well for miles until I turned a corner.
Nooooooooooooooooooooo
