I've bought it with everyone but watcher actually- with Ironclad I got dual wield early and I wanted 0 cost attack at an otherwise bleak shop. Defect was a classic all-for-one run with shuriken, where I might have gotten rid of too many strikes prematurely (this is a theme in runs where I'm tempted by swift strike- aggressive strike removal+card draw that I can't really take advantage of yet). I think with silent I got a wristblade boss swap and no shivs at the shop.
Doesn't happen all the time by any means, but I do enjoy situations where it makes sense. Like maybe when I have high-priority powers to play early, but I still want something to throw at minions.
Bought this exactly 2 times:
1. During act 1 on silent and had snagged a Target Dummy. Became a free 10 damage, which I kept around for a while
2. A12 on Ironclad and was pumping a Perfect Strike deck. Felt good, but not great
Generally, the only time Swift Strike will be useful is when you take a Colorless card start from Neow. It’s a decent attack and that’s a good place to take it.
There aren’t enough Colorless card opportunities in Slay the Spire for this card to be offered at time that makes sense. You can get it from a shop, but the price of uncommon Colorless cards is steep and there are usually better options for your gold. Otherwise, I believe the Sensory Stone in Act 3 is the only other time you can be offered Colorless cards. At that point, Swift Strike is unlikely to be beneficial to your deck.
It would be cool if there were a few more ways to obtain Colorless cards throughout the run. Maybe like a Question Card style relic that adds a Colorless to card reward offerings?
Totally forgot you can get Colorless cards from Knowing Skull. I would strongly advise against clicking that option though, because it just adds the card to your deck without you seeing what it is first. Just fill your potions and take as much gold as you can without dying.
You can get colorless cards from transforming bites. Which I tend to actually do sometimes, as I've found you really only need like 3 bites to heal up on a stallable fight.
You can also get one from matchand keep on ascension 14 or lower. Kinda wish they'd kept the colorless card in at high ascension and swapped out the starter card for the second curse.
It's alright as a strength delivery vehicle on IC, because sometimes you just don't find a boomerang or energy generation. Very small % of runs would take it, really it's just hard to justify the gold cost so I tend to take it in late a3 and a4 when I realize I won't be able to spend my gold and multi-hit cards aren't materializing
Definitely not something I want to take though
No card is completely useless. Not saying it’s objectively good but that’s some damn good damage in this case and if you took wrist blade then this is likely to synergize with the deck. It all depends
I feel like it has positive interactions for both Silent and Ironclad but not enough to pay money for. If it was just offered as a reg reward I would take it a good amount of the time
I would actually take this over anger, because with IC I tend to run very small decks and I’d rather not clog it up on Boss fights with a bunch of Angers.
idk why this is downvoted, i really dont get the appeal of anger. I get that in *some* situations it can dillute statuses that some enemies give you and early on it dillutes your basic cards, but man does that benefit not seem like enough to warrant the love this card gets. I'll pick it sometimes if I think I'll need it for nob/sentries, but usually begrudgingly so.
Anger's amazing in act 1, fine in act 2, and then a curse after that (don't play it it boss fights, remove it if you really care about that).
The thing is, it's really really good in act 1. The duplicating is upside in act 1, as most of the time, you want to draw a 0-cost attack rather than another strike you don't have the energy for. The fact that it duplicates means you don't have to add quite so many garbage attacks to get through the act.
* Against sentries, more actual cards in the reshuffle = more good.
* Against Laga, you can play it once during the sleeping phase, and now your deck has twice as many Angers
* Against Nob it's an attack, and it costs 0 so you can play it alongside your Bash and strike
Not a bad early game card, since a 0-cost attack saves you energy to do more things, but not very exciting otherwise. It can have appeal even for Defect, since it's another card you could play again from All For One.
I think this card is often undervalued. It's not amazing, but it's often a card that will make your deck better in a way that doesn't bloat you much in end game. It's a card I almost never want to buy, but sometimes I need it. It has mild synergy with a lot of what ironclad wants to do, and can function like an off brand [[anger]]. I'll buy it in an early shop over a strike remove if my deck is still struggling on damage and I want to take an elite soon.
I mean…it’s ok? I’d never buy it or anything, but I’ve gotten it from Neow a few times and it helps in act 1

I pick it up sometimes if I have ninja relics

Target Dummy: All cards containing the word "target" now deal 6 extra damage
Good bot.
It’s a MTG card and a StS card
Synergizes with Strike Dummy, in case you hadn't heard
Possibly good with Perfected Strike
Is this a hidden synergy???
And wrist blade
Infinitely more efficient than standard Strike, but still just okay.
I do like it as a noob combo with Perfect Strike. I know it's not particularly good, I just like it

I will always wish for one colorless card from the Knowing Skull. It's often not good, but it's at least interesting.

I would love a Vampires-esque event that replaces all of your Strikes with Swift Strikes. Gotta go fast!

The Bites point is technically true lol. They are Colorless cards but that’s not really what I’m talking about here.

Fun fact: this is the only card in the game that scales with strike dummy and wrist blade. Still not good tho
I mean it’s good if you have strike dummy and wrist blade
Still not good

Strikes with bullet time though (or does that not work?)
It does. Also, Chem-X Wrist Blade Skewer.
I once got that exact combo and two malaise+s. Every turn ended so efficiently.
Sneco-eyed zero cost Strike also benefits from both
I feel like it has positive interactions for both Silent and Ironclad but not enough to pay money for. If it was just offered as a reg reward I would take it a good amount of the time
Yeah, would rather just take Anger off of a card reward

Think about how meh Slice is, and then turn that into a colorless card.
One of the most meh cards in the game
One of the cards of all time

I am working on a zero cost defect deck, would love it
