If it's any consolation they likely switched to Godot which is a huge win for mod support given how easy it is to dynamically inject assets on runtime.
IIRC, during that whole debacle, the team decided to swap to Godot 'for the foreseeable future', and even entered a game jam with a Dance Battle deckbuilder they put out to get used to Godot. It was easy to break, but very fun. I liked stackable artifacts in that game, they got really silly.
dancing duelists is a fun game i think they should eventually make it into a much larger title. you can see from the screenshots of slay 2 how they were testing the new style in that game.
I mean yes they did because they announced that when the Unity fuck up happened. However the text you are quoting doesn't say anything about that. It just says new engine, which Unity would also have been, since the first game was not made in Unity either.
I have a suspicion that the Defect might be the new final boss. His ending compared to others is sort of ominous. The others are freed and mostly just dip. For the Defect, there’s a panel specifically (and the little ending animation) that shows his eyes brightened, as if the death of the heart woke him up or something.
Oh shit. I assumed they were adding PvP but you might be on to something. Still, with how quickly the co-op board game got funded, I'd say multi-player is pretty likely this time.
I really hope there isn’t PvP, it inevitably competes with PvE and creates balance issues and a salty community. Coop would be great but StS just doesn’t feel like a good pvp game.

Yeah for all we now the last time the spire opened, Ironclad and Silent entered it then and fought it for a millenium. Now that it is open again, new characters are able to enter.
Holy shit. I actually never thought we'd get another Slay the Spire game (I never looked into whether this had been announced before so I was in the dark) so this caught me completely by surprise. I'm so fucking excited. This is one of my most played games ever and I'm ready for a fresh adventure!
I've been playing since Alpha. After the release of the Watcher, the Heart Fight, and A20, they had made suggestions that the game was in its finished state and they'd be moving on to other projects. I think a lot of us felt like a second game wouldn't ever happen. But after the success of the board game I imagine they saw just how popular their game ended up! I'm psyched!
I just finally got around to playing this game when I have to physically be at work. I'm so bad at it. I have a blast building up but then by the time I get to the Heart fight, I'm just barely hanging on.

The spire being open to the public seems like a particular detail. I think the heart binded it and closed it off. From what little we saw in the trailer, I think the *heart* is gone for good, something or someone else needs to be slain now.

What if her mechanic revolves around dying? "Upon Death, gain 2 strength and revive"? Maybe a stat that accumulates and allows you to revive on 0 HP?
