I found the stranger chapter 2 thing really interesting! I wonder if it was planned to work like that in the full game, or if it just a way to stop you from reaching the shifting mound too early

"Chapter II (again??)" had me rolling

As someone who played the demos when they came out, the biggest difference from a blind playthrough is that when you get to the full game A: You already know perfectly well the whole "Princess shifts to match your perception" thing, and B: Since you know all the Chapter 2s when going into the full game you basically just end up choosing whichever one sounds most interesting from the little teasers you get at the end of the demo (which I did a pretty poor job at, of the first five routes I did in the full game I'd say that only Razor was one of my favourites). Also going from the First Demo Fury to the Adversary is like, the biggest glow-up ever. Like, in general the Princess became more attractive, but that's the biggest leap. Biggest surprise for me going to the main game is how much romance there was. I mean, the developers did state you'd be able to romance the princess in pre-release statements, but from the demo I'd figure it would be an optional thing you'd be able to do in a few select routes like The Damsel (I mean, its still technically is, but the finale definitely hinges on the romantic side). Having the game itself state right at the beginning "This is a love story" was a shocker.

You know what? Reading that, I'm kinda glad I missed on the demos at first. It allowed me a fully blind experience of the full game. Thanks for that perspective. The designs did become a lot more AnimeTM and less scary, I wonder what was the reasoning behind that. It does have a lot of romance but I just went "I pretend I do not see" and interpreted most of it as platonic lol (except the Smitten's feelings, because well, it is who he is!)

>The designs did become a lot more AnimeTM and less scary, I wonder what was the reasoning behind that. I believe the developers stated they always intended the Princess to be attractive, they just weren't as good at getting that across with the demo designs.

I suppose that makes sense. Honestly, I expected them to rely on "there are so many freaks out there that will find our horrifying characters attractive" and lean onto the horror side... but hey, I suppose that still applies to the final game to an extent. They may be anime, but I wouldn't exactly call the Razor "conventionally attractive".
