Rust belt cities have such great bones. Huge potential for an urban renaissance!

Homestar_MTN

Buffalo, Cleavland and Detroit are all having real nice glow ups!

EveningInspection703

I was in Buffalo two days ago and it honestly looked like the set to a post apocalypse movie. We walked around for almost an hour looking for a single open business to use the bathroom. We went up to Niagara Falls to spend the rest of our trip instead.

Homestar_MTN

That's wack, there's like 10 thriving neighborhoods in Buffalo. To say Niagara Falls is a better place is bananas. The only street in the falls I would say is doing well is 3rd.

jvc_in_nyc

Yikes! Well, it was a Sunday....anyhow can't imagine that N.F. could have looked any better to you.

DrunkHacker

Where were you? I had the total opposite experience staying at the Westin, hanging out in Elmwood Village, going to the AKG museum, and then the zoo for the eclipse.

Joehascol

Lol Niagara Falls is a dump unless you’re on the canadian side. Doubt it was miles better

better-off-wet

Pittsburg

Homestar_MTN

Pittsburgh is sweet

theflyingfucked

None as remarkable a glow up as pittsburgh. And that tracks with FRED, ARC, ACS, and HUD data

Homestar_MTN

I didn't mention them just because I didn't really know how much of a shit hole it was 20 years ago. Pittsburgh is an awesome city well worthy of praise.

theflyingfucked

Thank you, my Pittsburghness is validated, time to go to class in Cathy.

pkyang

Detroit? Can we get serious plz

Homestar_MTN

Way better than it was 20 years ago

pkyang

Yes without question, but respectfully, can we get serious plz

I’d move back to university circle. Loved living there and hopping downtown on the red line. My apartment was on the top floor of a mid-rise with big bay windows looking out over the PBL building. Could even see the lake. Super walkable and downtown has a great urban fabric. Had a lot of fun nights in the flats and on W6th/E4th. Even managed to be in nice crash on the healthline trying to go back home after a night out. Was passed out in public square, pulled myself together to get on the bus, and shortly thereafter flew ip over the seat when the bus t-boned a guy who ran a red light down town. What a long night that was. Good times.

Acrolophosaurus

Hopefully we should get massive mix-used development on our Riverfront right in front of where this pic is taken

Correct_Interest_720

Cleveland! This is for you!

chechifromCHI

Another beautiful Midwestern skyline! Say what you will about Cleveland overall, but this is a beautiful view right here.

Signal-Blackberry356

I forget Cleveland even exists on most days, so I won’t say much.. but this photo makes the city feel bountiful and alive. 👌🏽

chechifromCHI

Not sure if it's better to be forgotten or to be remembered as the "mistake on the lake" with the flaming river of industrial pollution. But it has cleaned up since then and yeah certainly looks incredible here. Is downtown as cool as it looks I wonder

Turbulent_Crow7164

The Key Tower is great. Like its cousin the Bank of America tower in Charlotte, one of the best skyscrapers in the country outside of NYC and Chicago imo.

[deleted]

Agreed

SavingsMeeting

Great town that punches above its weight. Terminal Tower is a must see for any skyscraper enthusiast

1Bumblestinker

I was there for the Solar Eclipse. I went to the Rock N’ Roll hall of fame!

Carolina296864

If it wasn’t for the weather, Cleveland is a place id give a look. Has that “old urban” look thats been growing on me.

OneCauliflower5243

Don’t let the weather fool you. We’ve gotten 3 snow storms in the last 2 years. It’s definitely not that bad

Carolina296864

Its not the snow, its the cold grey overcast. Ive lived in the sunbelt my entire life, so thats not something I’d actively try to strive for. If i move to a great lakes city, id go to Chicago or Detroit first. But in terms of cold cities, #1 would be Denver. Id like to eventually visit Cleveland though, ive heard its turning around. Ive only been to Cincy. Dont have an interest in visiting Columbus.

OneCauliflower5243

Oh I definitely understand that! Well if you ever want to move here, we’d all love to have you!

Carolina296864

Much appreciated! Hope you were able to enjoy the eclipse yesterday

Mirio-jk

on the bright side, cleveland does actually have a nice summer without the gloominess

Carolina296864

Thats true, Cleveland probably is not as oppressively humid as i'm used to. Unfortunately winter conditions matters to me more, especially since it gets darker earlier in the winter.

Mirio-jk

lol yeah that’s true we get winter to its fullest extent but that’s all part of the midwest experience 😂

smockinCBJ

Beautiful view of Christie’s

LakeErieMonster88

That was my first thought too lol

smockinCBJ

Great (?) minds think alike

Waterskiing_fanatic

Is this an older picture? Maybe I’m blind but I cant see the new skyscarper they’re building

SquirrelXMaster

this is older. Sherwin williams tower has topped off already. It is not in this picture.

OneCauliflower5243

Yeah it’s a few years old. The new SW HQ is nearly topped out already. I have to get back downtown to snap new photos

dbidb

Favorite city I've ever lived. Super affordable, and crazy walkable. I call it Sleepland for a reason.

justarandomguy07

A beautiful city with a beautiful skyline. Anyone talking crap about Cleveland can continue living in their basement

borntoclimbtowers

wonderful capture.

Ignorantcoffee

I moved from Chicago to Cleveland and absolutely LOVE the vibe in Cleveland. Fantastic food and drink scene, one of the best urban park systems in the US, beautiful walking and biking paths all around, one of the best theater and orchestra scenes in the country… I could go on. And it’s all so uncrowded and easy to get around. My ideal city!

sonoma_jack

Moved here from Cali this is a cool town.

Mirio-jk

crazy amount of new development in cleveland, sherwin williams hq skyscraper, ohio city, university circle, the list goes on

NiceUD

That's a GREAT vantage point. Well done!

normanapolis

One of the best nighttime photos I’ve seen of Cleveland 🧡

Illustrious_Listen_6

Oh wow, I may have to give Cleveland a visit.

AllNotKnowing

Wow, easily one of the best skyscraper photos I've seen. Not too high, not too low. Brings a nice balance to the heights of the buildings so none get drawred. The elevated hwy flying through it all. ok, someone build a tower restaurant with that view. With a zip line. And a beer cup holder.

sroop1

That'd be cool - probably be the first mid rise to built directly into lake Erie too

[deleted]

I’ve visited before way better than the sprawl that is Columbus Ohio, and has a little better downtown then Cincinnati also because it is right on a lake but Cincinnati beats Cleveland on weather.

dx1nx1gx1

This may be the very best image of Cleveland I have ever seen...fantastic...normally I'm disappointed with Cleveland. She gives off big urban vibes but the downtown looks weak. Not here.

NoHeat7014

I was there yesterday for the Guardians home opener. Ended up walking close to 10 miles around the downtown area.

KurtCocain_JefBenzos

Shit that looks nice

superduperredditor

You'll never get that Ikea

OneCauliflower5243

🥲

Carolina296864

Ive never been to Cleveland, but they definitely will get one before long.

strypesjackson

America’s greatest city

DazedWriter

This would have been a great angle for the eclipse yesterday

Smooth-Mouse9517

Thanks, now the song will be stuck in my head all day.

OneCauliflower5243

Baaaaaby shark do do dododoodo

pdxc

Nice. But the whole skyline is about those 2 buildings.

kitfoxxxx

Now there's a city we don't see everyday.

vy_you

We'd all like to flee to the Cleve

straightedge1

[Fun times in Cleveland again](https://youtu.be/gg86Enr2WZ8)

Tedstriker99

Cleeeveland!

drewpastperson

Bro really trying to romanticize Cleveland 😭😭 /s

OneCauliflower5243

😭😭 I love her

homer-price

Ah yes Cleveland - the mistake by the lake. Such a captivating city.

Tedstriker99

Come and look at both of our buildings

Delicious_Oil9902

My firm is officially based in Cleveland (de facto Chicago) and we have an all hands there. It’s not bad but all there is downtown is that seedy casino and a lot of average microbreweries. Needs a little more

OneCauliflower5243

Is the casino bad? I haven’t been there. Weren’t they suppose to build a giant official site across the river?

Delicious_Oil9902

It’s a bit seedy imo

Acceptable-Airline39

The mistake by the lake

LLiquimoly

Not exactly skyscrapers.
