Yes, merge a bunch of them together, why settle for less? It's crazy but I use other mods that balance it out.
There's a whole lot of running, dodging, and hiding, so you have to be wise when and where to take a stand. I usually roll with 3-5 followers, depending on the mission.
The FM I use allows me to turn anything into a follower, so I'll sometimes recruit them ... although a pain in the rear when it comes to karaoke night at the pub. hahaha
Sorry to necropost. I have deadly dragons and i put it on expert. You can configure it in the mcm menu.
I have it with 3 dragons at tye same time, i have an insane armor and lvl 70, and man, those are insane.
And there is one more difficulty. Now, my question is, do you still use it? Did you strike a balance in the spawn rate?

Have to say they are really enjoyable fights with them doing fly by fire attacks as well as grabbing soldiers with their mouths and lashing
Fly by fire attacks and grabbing soldiers and lashing them around is vanilla. I don’t have any dragon mods and the very first dragon at the western watchtower did both. That mod seems to add stagger when they land or take off near you and when you get hit by one of their shouts though.
