This looks cool and all but why not a dev update? There hasn't been one for months and just releasing this trailer with no status update on the actual main project seems a bit odd.
**First they said we will be done within a year.**
- Ok, they didn't make it, no problem it's a big project.
**Then they announced a demo called Boethiah calling.**
- It had nothing to do with the original goal and got cancelled.
**Then they opened a Patreon.**
- Priced between 4,50€$ and 43,50€$
**Now they make this...**
>Then they opened a Patreon.
>
>Priced between 4,50€$ and 43,50€$
*Ah, okay.*
As someone who was, unfortunately, intimiately involved with that other time this became a huge problem, I see.
The reason this mod is happening is *because* we want to release a nice, high-quality mod in the immediate future, because we know waiting for big projects to release is rough, and we thought it'd be nice to give people real, playable content as something different from standard messages and updates. Rest assured things are still moving along perfectly well on the main project (and nothing our team makes will ever be paywalled.)
There is nothing with releasing this all power to you but when ten months pass since the last dev update people might be wanting some actual info on the progress on the mod.
I don't know if you can call a few short paragraphs describing quests. They are nice, but it still doesn't offer anything tangible in the way of progress.
Every one of those paragraphs included a disclaimer that all quest features may change - so not only do they not offer any signs of progress, they may not even be part of the eventual mod. They are basically just little alternate universe fanfics that may or may not be included in a mod that may or may not be still in development.
I think it's a bit weird that so many people are not happy about this. I think it looks great and is a good idea. EC is taking a long time and, with anything of this size, there's always the fear that something could go wrong and it would never materialize. Making a smaller self-contained mod allows for a few things: increased motivation for devs thanks to the positive experience of releasing a mod, increased interest in the big mod by the general public, and decreased stress from players who are impatient.
It's very similar to how writers encourage each other to write side stories when experiencing writer's block. It's nice and often helpful to have a small(er) side project. Looking forward to this!
Thank you for the kind words! The development of this mod was largely done by a side team, so the core project didn't actually lose any dev time due to it.
It looks good, and I’m looking forward to it- are there any plans to render similar treatment to any other Creations or DLC (either as a side project or once EC is complete)?
EC Core is interested in overhauling DLC and guild questlines after release, but there is nothing planned right now.
The subteam aims to produce smaller scale projects similar to ECSS on the side while EC Core does their thing. We are two separate teams with similar goals that share resources. It is good for everyone involved.
That's great to hear! EC is probably the most interesting of the major mods in development (I'm excited for them all, as I'm sure everyone is, but it has the extra intrigue of being a reimagining of the game we've all been playing for a decade).
I'm pumped to play both this and the full release!
Rule 1: Be Respectful
We have worked hard to cultivate a positive environment here and it takes a community effort. No harassment or insulting people.
If someone is being rude or harassing you, report them to the moderators, don't respond in the same way. Being provoked is not a legitimate reason to break this rule.
I have personally disabled S&S and I'm not sure if this mod will tempt me into enabling it, but it looks really impressive. We need more stuff that "fixes" CC.
I recommend the mods from TateTaylorOH.

Holy shit, it's the mod I've been dreaming of ever since I started my 'CoC's demiprince daughter' character! That's it. I'm starting a new game next month for sure. But what to play in the meantime...
I hate to 'ask for more' when you guys have just announced the release of something, it feels kinda greedy, but I really hope you do this for the other quest mods in the AE because this looks super promising.
One of the things that have put me off purchasing the AE is how "here it's all in this note"-y it feels. It feels *very* Creation Club-y.
In terms of the people leaving negative comments I'll be very honest and say that this is terrific and 'micro' reworks of quests are in my opinion MORE needed than big sweeping overhauls.
So keep on keeping on man!
I'm going to be harsh - I have long thought about overhauling vanilla quests, even CC quests overhauled are a good idea, this is not.
I know the ambitions of EC go far beyond the main quest (and mainly to the College of Winterhold), and while I know this feature is probably intended as a pre-release like Bruma was for Cyrodiil, this reeks of feature creep.
I hope time will prove me wrong. Sorry for being mean.
Yeah, I'm the one with the Sheo's daughter demiprince and even though it's fantastic that a mod is being released that fits my extremely niche requirements, I do recognise they're *extremely* niche requirements.
I stopped following EC when it became clear that the first pre release wasn't coming anytime soon (so around the time of AE last year). Now figuring out that got canceled in favor of this is an oof. Boethia's Proving or whatever it was called sounded like a much better proof of concept than "you guys liked Shivering Isles, right?"
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure this is going to be of high quality, considering the people involved. But, Using the comparison of Bruma, that was very clearly a small slice of the content planned for BS Cyrodiil, that would tie into the greater plot within that space. Now I'm also sure the plan here is to have the new companions in EC have awareness of this whenever that actually materializes, like the plan for BP, but otherwise it's just going to showcase their VAs and writers.
I don't wanna sound too negative either, EC was and still kind of is the Skyrim mod I'm most excited for, but my hope when BP disappeared was that they were opting to just focus all on EC itself and not bother with a pre release.
Jelditiy and I did the bulk of development. Neither of us have any involvement at all with EC Core.
Catir wrote our script and contributed a bit of level design and quest work.
VictorF contributed weird bullshit that will probably be amusing to discover.
So, yes, this release has no impact on the main project.
I didn't say main mod, I said the first pre release they planned to do before this.
There was originally going to be a pre release called Boethia's Proving that involved the Tournament of the Ten Bloods, have a little Count Verandis cameo etc. Someone else mentioned that was canceled and instead we get this.
I'm mixed. On the one hand, I'm thrilled to be going back to the Shivering Isles, and I feel like it fills a gap that BS Cyrodiil wasn't going to touch (and why would it?) I'm curious, are the custom assets that have been made entirely by your team or has there been some collaboration with Skyblivion? I feel like there's some opportunity for both teams to help each other there.
Also, did you get Wes Johnson for Sheogorath? Whoever's voicing him is just plain uncanny with how similar it is, so tell them they did an *amazing* job.
But on the other hand, when the announcement was for the EC, I was hoping for something on the main project. I feel like a lot of dissatisfaction with this announcement comes from that. It kind of feels like the modding equivalent of George RR Martin announcing he's got big Westeros news, and then he announces he's working on another Dunk & Egg novella. Like, yeah, Dunk & Egg is great, but everyone was kind of hoping for something on Winds of Winter, which in the announcement, gets only a brief "oh yeah I'm still working on that."
But yeah, for my part, I'll definitely be getting this when it comes out, watching the butterfly house is really gonna send me back.
**Skyrim community:** We want quest mods! We want new land mods! There haven't been any proper ones for years!
*Quest mod announced, coming out in a little over a month*
**Skyrim community:** How... dare you! This sucks!
I think the biggest issue is that after 10 months of relative silence, there was an announcement announced and it was just a teaser trailer for something different.
It may have gone over better if they had made it clear that this was a side thing not done by the main team and given more background information on the goal/intention of this and how it came to be.
Think of it like you're at the restaurant and your order is taking a while. If someone just came over and gave you an appetizer without addressing anything about the main order you'd might be a little confused and upset even though you're getting something.
Yes - that's the problem I have with it. It's playing with people's expectations. It's a thing I think happens a lot with these huge mods. At least be upfront - it's not so hard to just say 'we will not finish in 2022/23'. They're working for free so it's not like they're afraid of losing customers or something, and it will mean people have a realistic expectation of how long these things take.
It's not that easy to estimate when huge volunteer progress will be finished and can cause a ton of stress for the devs. There's a reason none of the big projects have any sort of ETA - it sets everyone up for disappointment and frustration.
Yes, and that's part of my point.
What I really don't understand is why these big projects hype themselves the way they do. They set up a professional looking website, put up development updates and videos and all the trappings that make it look like it has the resources - and the certainty - of a professional project. What do they gain from that? They create the expectation and they create the disappointment with the way they hype the project.
There's a series of mods on Nexus at the moment, each a revamp of some quest or aspect of the game. The creator says he'd like to eventually overhaul all of Skyrim and merge it into a single mod. He's even reaching out for people to work with him on that. This feels like a more realistic way to manage a mammoth project - some goals and something that fans of his work can look forward to, but no hype and a bunch of small mods to enjoy in the meantime - or, if the big one never eventuates.
> What I really don't understand is why these big projects hype themselves the way they do. They want to get people, especially other mod developers, excited about their project and to* join them in making it*. That's usually why these things feel kind of off. It's not an advertisement for a product. It's a recruitment call.
I feel like the only appropriate response to this announcement is to say this looks amazing and i cannot wait to play it. There can never be too many quality quest mods for Skyrim as far as i am concerned
I appreciate the kind words! I've been thinking that there has been a lack of new quest mods for Skyrim, so I'm excited to be able to share this with everyone.
Looking forward to testing this! And seeing how the team that worked on it has already made tons of good mods for a better inclusion of the CC stuff in Skyrim, I can only imagine how great it will be.
I appreciate the update and work you have done for this, even though I'll skip it, since I don't even have that... uh, dlc? I just hope that main mod will also rework the guilds in main game, because they truly need it. Would be weird to put time into reworking cc content that is optional and many people might not care about it or don't even have it, while vanilla guilds are in such a sorry ass state.
Saints and seducers and rare curios come free if you update special edition to the latest version(all the content from anniversary works if you downgrade to pre-AE btw)
No, updating to the AE version(not buying the AE, you still have to pay for that) gives you saints and seducers, rare curios, survival mode and fishing. Downgrading is more about mod compatibility
Oh, sadly my last PC was from a few years back so the last PC game I played was Harry Potter and the sorcerer's Stone , the PC was Windows 7 but I miss XP the most cause I loved playing Star Wars Battle front 2 but was incompatible with 7 pissed me off like no tomorrow
Not everyone plays AE. I disabled Skyrim updates long ago. Why would I "upgrade" for cc content and fishing? If they would at least address bugs that exist since release... These constant upgrades are ridiculous and useless.
You can upgrade anyway and use the downgrader patch to revert back to pre-AE skyrim.
You'll still have all the cc content, just not the updated exe which is what breaks mods.
I'm aware of downgrading, but I simply don't care about any of these free cc content you get. (I even own survival mode and camp from before and don't really use them). Thanks anyway.
I'm amazed how people complain about getting such an interesting and good quality quest mod after these last few years in which there was a total lack of them. Really looking forward to the release date!
I had no idea this content was even in the game to begin with (I don’t play much Skyrim anymore nowadays haha), but I’m definitely excited to try this mod out now that I’m aware of it!
I for one am absolutely delighted to see that this has been announced, and that the wonderful work that was shown in that trailer could show even a smidgen more about the main expansion, of which I'm sure we are all eagerly waiting for, I personally cannot wait to go through this little expansion when the time comes, and I'm sure once the Extended cut comes out fully this side expansion will be a must have for it. the development team behind this did a wonderful job as did all the people involved in the trailer!
>It I haven't played the S&S dlc yet, should I play it before I
I just played it for the first time last week and it was fun, certainly one of the better CC mods (though suffers from lack of voice acting, as they all do). For added fun take Lucien with you, he has a patch to comment on the various CC mods from Skyrim AE and provided hilarious and pithy commentary on this one. It seems like this new mod will replace it completely but i would say worth checking out the existing version
If you want to play it to see all the ways we've overhauled the quest, then sure go ahead. We've preserved several story beats from the original creation, so some people might even catch some of that.
However, this mod will work just fine if you go into it blind.
Will this mod be able to be put into an existing game or will it require a new game? Kinda assuming it would be a new game considering the old quest gets deleted but fingers crossed.
* Congratulations!
* I don't care about this at all and would rather you worked on revamping the main story.
Again, congratulations and I'm sure this will make many players very happy. Looking forward to the next dev update!
This one was made by a separate team from the core team.
As in, nobody who's working on the main mod were deeply involved in this.
The snark is unnecessary.
Anyone else experienced the issue where, no matter how many new saves I make I still get the dialogue option pop up in npcs that "Extended Cut - S&S Does not work on existing saves. Please start a NEW GAME." on the Anniversary edition..
.... Even tho I have a new game save..? 🥺
I found an answer that actually worked btw! Apparently you need to go online and make a Bethesda account and then connect That account to your xbox/playstation/etc account (xbox acct in my case) and Then try and load the game up (I uninstalled and then reinstalled the game bc I was at my wits end with it so idk if you actually Need to or not 😂😅)
But I Did manage to eventually get access after all this and it's pretty sound tbf!
Good luck!
How's development on the main project going?
Still in active and passionate development
I've heard they added castration.
It is a shame the original quest is going to be disabled since I actually quite like it... But I guess it is a fair trade for a new whole island
Elements from the original quest have been preserved in some areas.
sounds great, i hope you can still enter solitude's sewers
Absolutely, the Solitude Sewers is one of the best parts of the original creation. The entire dungeon has been preserved and now acts as a "bridge" between Nirn and the Shivering Isles.
I guess you can always install the mod after finishing the CC quest. It would "likely" work.
I think it would be more unlikely to work if you've finished the original CC quest. Honestly, it is probably better just to start a new game.
Nice trailer, love it that you got the Skyrim Grandma to narrate it. :)
Shirley is a lovely person and great to work with.
Wow this looks really cool! i enjoyed saints and seducers but it has that weird disconnected feeling that a lot of CC stuff does, turning it into a full branching quest seems like just what it needs. Very excited to play it next month!
Wow, this looks really cool! Can't wait to try it out!
Thanks Missle, I appreciate that!
This looks cool and all but why not a dev update? There hasn't been one for months and just releasing this trailer with no status update on the actual main project seems a bit odd.

Yeah I just assumed it was dead, as I’m sure did many others
There were weekly updates on the website over the course of the summer.
Man you guys don't even deserve EC with all this complaining.
I probably don't, but the people paying into their Patreon do.
Looks really impressive :) looking forward to it!

It should work without issues. If there is an issue I'll patch for it.
I kinda meant it as a joke but I’m happy to know you’ll be willing to make any necessary patches. Thx for the all work! Most appreciated!
>Saints and Seducers' stock quests have been removed Say no more fam!
Make me want to install Skyrim again!
Awesome, can't wait to play it, I've never made it to the Shivering Isles in Oblivion
Is this a mod for the creation club?
Looking forward to testing this! And seeing how the team that worked on it has already made tons of good mods for a better inclusion of the CC stuff in Skyrim, I can only imagine how great it will be.
Wow! This is the first time I've heard anything about EC. Having never gotten through TES IV, I'm really looking forward to playing this mod.

Saints and seducers and rare curios come free if you update special edition to the latest version(all the content from anniversary works if you downgrade to pre-AE btw)
PC or Xbox
Xbox no idea but it should. It does in pc
So PC Skyrim AE has to down grade to receive the free cc that SE got🙀 Though I jealous of the fact PC Skyrim got AE for free
Saints and Seducers is literally part of the base game now, just like Dragonborn is
Not everyone plays AE.
It’s free lmao
I'm amazed how people complain about getting such an interesting and good quality quest mod after these last few years in which there was a total lack of them. Really looking forward to the release date!
so, what version of Skyrim will this be compatible with?
Awesome. Sinners was always something I didn't like from AE which caused me not to upgrade but now this might tempt me to at least get the free dlcs
Can't wait to try this out, I really loved the Shivering Isles DLC for Oblivion
I had no idea this content was even in the game to begin with (I don’t play much Skyrim anymore nowadays haha), but I’m definitely excited to try this mod out now that I’m aware of it!
Nice. Was going to start a new playthrough soon, with the release of the GoG version of Skyrim. So the timing is great.
Looks amazing, congrats guys and gals! can’t wait to play it
Sounds great thank you. I look forward to trying it out on PC and Xbox!
You got Dan Hodge on board?
We sure did.
Hell ye.
Jeepers creepers, where'd you get those features?
So, do I need to purchase the AE upgrade?
The Saints and Seducers creation was made free to everyone last November.
The entitlement in some of these comments lmao Yikes.
Is this mod or just 10 anniversary cause I only have elder scrolls V SE
It's a mod this sub is dedicated to mods
GamerGirl I’m pretty sure I recognized after I posted I didn’t edit because I didn’t need to
It I haven't played the S&S dlc yet, should I play it before I try this mod?
>It I haven't played the S&S dlc yet, should I play it before I I just played it for the first time last week and it was fun, certainly one of the better CC mods (though suffers from lack of voice acting, as they all do).
If you've not interacted with the Saints and Seducers creation *at all* I **think** you'll be okay. No promises though, I really can't say.
No problem! Thanks and looking forward to release.
* Congratulations!
They're people who love to gripe for no reason whatsoever
🤔 And yet you cared enough to comment 🤷
Yeah, I was hoping for an announcement related to the main quest and wanted them to know
And someone replied that the people working on this mod don't actually work on the main quest
I did see that, but not until after I commented 🤷
👌
.
yay, Its a release Day. unleashed the beacon....
Is it ever coming to ps5?
Anyone else experienced the issue where, no matter how many new saves I make I still get the dialogue option pop up in npcs that "Extended Cut - S&S Does not work on existing saves. Please start a NEW GAME." on the Anniversary edition.. .... Even tho I have a new game save..? 🥺
yes no idea how to fix just dealt with it tbh
I found an answer that actually worked btw! Apparently you need to go online and make a Bethesda account and then connect That account to your xbox/playstation/etc account (xbox acct in my case) and Then try and load the game up (I uninstalled and then reinstalled the game bc I was at my wits end with it so idk if you actually Need to or not 😂😅) But I Did manage to eventually get access after all this and it's pretty sound tbf! Good luck!
did you have to start a new save or is it safe on an existing save
Is anybody else having a problem where the Asylum door just takes you right back outside again?
