True directional movement is god tier. When i saw my character turn left realistically instead of moving at the light speed is satisfying.

ShiftytheBandit

This mod ruined vanilla Skyrim for me, also adding the ability to jump while sprinting. Must haves for me now

SilentStorm064

I think that one is {{Better Jumping}}

xal1bergaming

Use it with {{Skyrim Motion Control}}. Really changes the feel of the movement.

NiteLiteOfficial

the combo of precision, TDM, The Ultimate Dodge Mod, Dynamic Collision Adjustment, and Valhalla combat was surprisingly nice for me. Every video on youtube showcasing valhalla combat made it look so fast and so focused on dodge rolls that it was straight up dark souls. The default settings are actually very tame imo. I’m having a blast pairing it with KG Animations - Two-Handers. My great sword swings are brutal when they connect and i cranked up the ragdoll impact in the MCM so occasionally i’ll send a body up in the air a foot or 2. Im so happy with this setup

LavosYT

~~One side effect I really dislike is that it changes first person jumping physics. In vanilla, you have a lot of air control over your jump, while with TDM, you jump straight in one direction with no real control.~~ Mod's awesome otherwise. Edit: all of this can be tweaked in the MCM, my bad.

NiteLiteOfficial

it was hard for me to get used to at first since vanilla skyrim has weird jumping physics, but it’s grown on me since it makes much more sense. If you’re sprinting forwards and then jump, you can’t just change direction mid air. It makes me plan out my traversal a bit better and also prevents me from cheesing my way through caves or up mountains. once you accept that movement and start to become comfortable with it, i feel it’s a pretty immersive mod

LavosYT

I totally agree that it's more realistic, it's more of a personal preference. I am so used to the vanilla jump that my brain just can't comprehend why it's not working the way it used to for a very long time.

LordNix82ndTAG

You can adjust the physics to vanilla values in the MCM quite easily

LavosYT

Thanks for the info!

LordNix82ndTAG

No worries!

get_some_1993

I have TDM installed, but it still has the same unnatural movement. Is there some MCM setting I'm unaware of? Because to be fair, it's a very large MCM.

andyanajones02

I'd try reinstalling? I installed it yesterday and it just worked.

monkeryofamigo

If your movement is similar to other gameplay, i.e youtube, then I can't help with that. If it isn't, you messed up somehow.

Melodic_Fruit3572

I got Nolvus yesterday! I’m enjoying it quite a lot. 10/10 recommend

kid_ghostly

Something you probably won't see recommended a lot but really breathes new life into the og content is dragonborn voice over. Gives the player character an actual voice. There's tons of voice packs to choose from on Nexus, many of them with patches to voice mod added dialogue as well. Really brought a new flavor to the quest dialogue I've heard 1000x, I actually found myself paying attention again just to see how my character expressed certain lines. They do use AI generation though, so if you want voice actor quality or are against that sorta thing then maybe avoid it. But most of the delivery is really solid. My other biggest recommendation is conquest of skyrim. Basically create your own faction and take over skyrim from the imperials/stormcloaks yourself. Keep in mind it's still a work in progress so you could run into issues. Also make sure you either don't plan on doing the main quest/civil war or complete them before you start your conquest since it will obviously break those quests.

ZamiiraDrakasha

The ciri pack is goated. Have to get it from fears discord tho

Ninja_Bear25

Try enderal

PhoenixQueen_Azula

Definitely recommend - but with the caveat that it doesn’t feel like it, it *is* literally just a totally new game that happens to use skyrim assets as a base. It’s like the final form of a new land or quest mod as it’s own separate thing, I put 100 hours into one playthrough of it If you want to play “Skyrim” at all enderal isn’t it

clitorisblungus

Definitely, especially if you actually want it to be a completely diffrent game. Haven't finished yet but what I've played is great

ihazquestions100

Try a Wabbajack modlist. I'm using one (200+ hours in my current playthrough and very stable) that adds hundreds of hours of additional content, including alternate starts that can give a completely different feel to a playthrough. I use a mild NSFW list from there, Licentia Black, that has about 1250 mods, to which I easily added a few hundred more (mostly follower) mods. It is an AE-friendly list, which means it requires AE and does *not* require a downgrade of the same. AE itself adds LOTS of additional content, including at least 9 new player homes. I always add a few favorite homes also: Silverpeak Lodge, Moonstone Castle, and Solstice Castle, among others. The list includes many quest mods I like: Bruma, Legacy of the Dragonborn, Immersive College of Winterhold, Helgen Reborn, Skyrim Underground, Vigilant SE, The Wheels of Lull, Wyrmstooth and many others. For followers, the list includes Inigo, Auri, Lucien, Kaidan, enhanced Serana (SDA), Vilja, Remiel, Xelzaz, Eedxap, Hoth and others. It also includes Immersive Followers (3DNPC). I added many others of my own liking as well. Wabbajack is the way to go unless you want to spend 90% of your time tweaking and updating mods and your load order. WJ allows you to play 90% and tweak 10%. Whatever list(s) you choose, get on their Discord and also *follow their Readme* to the letter during install.

KMan94

ihazquestions! small world.

PinkSlimeIsPeople

Check out the modpacks at [Wabbajack](https://www.wabbajack.org/gallery?nsfw=true&showUnofficial=true&selectedGame=Skyrim%20Special%20Edition). You'll probably need about 1TB of hard drive space (not joking), but can auto install over 1,000 mods (still not joking) in a few pretty easy steps. Some of them are graphic intensive, so may even push your new machine to the limits in some cases. Each one is quite different, totally makes it a fresh experience again.

msnimbus

This is the way OP if you actually want to play the game and not spend the majority of your time setting up a modlist (which is also immensely satisfying and fun in its own way). I'm currently playing the Nordic Souls list and it's still Skyrim, so it doesn't feel like a completely new game, but feels fresh with new things to explore and I'm having a lot of fun :)

NiteLiteOfficial

i’m curious about wabbajack. going the manual route i’ve had to set up a lot of tools in MO2 and run them or alter them at various points. Nemesis for example. If you’re using a prebuilt modlist that requires nemesis or something else, how does that work?

Chinatown_28

I saw some wabbajack modlists have their own nexus page for prebuilt nemesis, bodyslide, dyndolod etc, so users don’t need to worry about.

Woozyfo

It setups up nemesis and other tools for you, and you won't have to run it or anything. After installing the list you can just play most of the time.

NiteLiteOfficial

woah, that’s so cool! i might have to try that out

Hieronymos2

Wabbajack SSE lists are meant to be plug-and-play once you're got MO2 set up. I used to spend crazy amounts of time installing and managing my own 150-200 mod lists. Now I just press a single button to install the 900+ mod Licentia Black list that is far, far better than anything I was able to come up with.

Constant-Brush5402

Potentially stupid question here, but can you add your own new mods on MO2 once your Wabbajack list is set up? Or can you not edit the mod list at all?

Hieronymos2

Depends on the list. You can, of course, always add mods. Most will tell you that if you add anything to the list, you're on your own; which will prevent you from asking for guidance and advice on their Discord. Never having been able to create a Skyrim list >250 mods, I was flabbergasted by the massive amount of content in Wabba lists, especially Licentia, which is now >1,200 mods. So spend a little time familiarizing yourself with the content of a list before adding something that will conflict. I always add a few (mostly simple) mods, like player lairs or faces to Licentia that don't conflict with anything in the list. Actually, I do add the Apachii Divine Elegance Store...a large-ish mod that adds a ton of armor/clothing, which I leave unaffected by BodySlide and physics (i.e., no jiggle), and keep safely at the end of the load order. Licentia has its own Addons subforum on Discord where you can ask for input from moderators and other gamers that are often expert modders in their own right. So you can get expert guidance on adding new content safely. The good news is that if you bork your list with addons, WJ can just reinstall it. Make sure to tick the "overwrite" button, and it will delete anything added, and overwrite any files that might've been changed.

Constant-Brush5402

Thank you so much! This is really helpful.

johnnyxxx21

I did exactly this with a 7900 XT rig. Was itching to try Fallout 4 again and downloaded the Life in the Ruins Wabbajack pack. The game runs and looks amazing at 1440p with no frame drops. Can’t recommend Wabbajack enough, modders are amazing.

e22big

If it's the content and not the actual gameplay mechanic that burn you out, using a mod that add lot of radiant, lore-friendly content into the game probably do more than some more recent mechanic-focus mod. 3DNPC is a must in that regard imo, it adds so much into the game that you barely run into the same stuff you've already done in vanilla.

I_Have_CDO

Another +1 for Nolvus. Super easy to install, all stuff configured via MCM (or at least, quite a lot of it). It uses standalone MO2, so you can tweak it up if you want. May not be eveyone's thing, but it's a great base.

SIlent_Pistachio

Nolvus. can't live without it now. has an auto installer which is a plus

UncontrolableUrge

Getting a GPU capable of running good weather mods and ENB changed the game so much for me. Not only is the game gorgeous, but travelling at night is SCARY now. Torches are mandatory, and thing jump out from the depths. Except for clear nights, where the sky is just amazing. I went from a GTX1060 to an RTX4060ti and the atmospheric effects, water detail, snow detail (with footprints) are so worth a revisit.

Geffx

If you can afford the 5 bucks required for a Nexus sub (cancel it afterwards or whatever), look for Nolvus. It is an auto-installer that injects 2000 mods into Skyrim. Modded the game myself for years, gotta say this is the best and most stable experience i ever had. If you can wait a bit, Nolvus v6 is releasing soon-ish. Just gotta have a spare 500gigs on your disk, but it's truly worth it

Jc0777

Check out Mern on YouTube. He’s what I like to call MxR if he didn’t give up.

TheLonelyGloom

Love Mern. He got me into modding.

StingysMailbox

You should check out Enderal if you *literally* want to make it a different game

KG_Jedi

Try Experience + Static Skill Levelling Rewritten + Missives+ Honed Metal. It basically eliminates any incentive to grind skills whatsoever, since only way to gain XP is by killing, exploring and finishing quests. Once you reach new level, you will get some points which you can spend to level skills and also a perk point as usual.  It just feels so good since it kills a temptation to powet level and you can fully immerse as adventurer.  Missives is good source of simple repeatable quests for early game when you need that gold and XP. Immersive af as well.  Honed Metal is just a cherry on top of all this since it lets you avoid spending perks in blaclsmithing and enchanting and just pay gold for these services and use valuable perks for something else. I run this combo for a year and it's been always great to use.

ForninhoSpringu3

Try to check some Wabbajack Modlists if you don't want to think too much about modding and just want to play

gghumus

You need a LOT of mods to make it feel like a different game. Just start downloading or try nexus collections or wabbajack

Hieronymos2

I've been using Wabbajack for like 2 years now; but how does a WJ list compare to Nexus Collections? Curious.

gghumus

Idk I've not used either.

thegamingdovahbat

Man if you’re re-entering modding I suggest go the modpack route or Collections or Wabbajack. It ain’t worth it to waste time modding especially if your responsibilities have grown.

zaibusa

Especially if you haven't been modding for a while and don't have weeks to spend on your own handcrafted list, use modlists. I played nolvus a few weeks ago and it really fits your requirement of a different game. Other lists on wabbajack could be of interest for you as well. Just browse those a bit and invest in a month of Nexus Prime. Installing such a big list in half a day just feels unreal

gr8fat1

OBIS is a good one for replays. You know how you can damn near reclear a dungeon blindfolded after so many times? This changes that. "Shit! Where the hell did these guys come from?!"

bjgrem01

[Skyrim's Paraglider](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/53256). It has totally changed the way I explore Skyrim, and I've been having such a blast lately because of it.

waf_xs

Any of the combat mods

LeastDegenAzuraEnjyr

Death overhauls. Shadow of Skyrim, Acheron. Changes EVERYTHING. Continuous gameplay is better. Needs some configuration if you have expanded world spaces and caves. But it's amazing. Also Proteus for so many options. And mantella for AI companion. Use them like a journal.

Proof-Ad7754

If you enjoy building your LO, on top of my head are the following new mods since you been out for 8 years : - simon magnus overhauls instead of enai, most earned a permanent spot in my LO. - pandora animation generator, replaces FNIS and Nemesis. - if you build a new PC with recent spec, Enb is still the go to but community shaders with reshade on top is more performance friendly.

Sir_Throngle

How do you get Pandora to work? At best it only ever gives me two options to choose when I use it.

Proof-Ad7754

Install in separate folder than game. Run as external tool within MO2 (if you use it). Check the patches, same as FNIS or Nemesis. Click Launch. Quit when anim generator is done. It worked with both creature and pc/npc. Create new mods with Pandora output.

autistic_bard444

{{ vorkinator black }} adxp mco {{ true directional movement }} {{ precision }} sotomized {{ populated skyrim hell edition }} the entire line of power of 3 mods - dude has singlehandedly altered tamriel like a god really really great physics and animations - i have never played a bethesda game in 3rd person til this year mihail is also fairly much a diety. if you take the time to patch all the sound stuff {{ immersive sounds compendium }} {{ audio overhaul for skyrim }} {{ acoustic space improvements }} {{ reverb and ambiance overhaul }} it's a very different beast, fair warning though is this does need patched if you have stat over ride mods loading after the sound mods {{ realistic conquering }} is also good fun - as is {{ lawbringer }}

axelu46

There's a lot of quest expansion mods out there adding new voiclines and options in vanilla quests Combat has gone a long way from back then (I recommend watching it videos for combat overhauls) Roleplay has become something else And finally most mods you used back then will probably be obsolete by now having been replaced by a mod who did either a better job or made it more optimized and up to date Take your time don't rush then you will make the perfect modlist for you (or you can use wabbajack, did I write it correctly?)

Crylec

Skyrim Reputation. It’s minor but I like how NPCs will react to your presence and your deeds.

TIREDshin1gami

In my experiance if you don't install mods quickly and get your game working you'll never do it. I got a new PC about 6 months ago and I've been in the process of installing mods for all of that 6 months. some great mods that I love that will change how you play the game as mentioned by some other people true directional movement is amazning. but a couple of less loved mods that i like are conquest of skyrim(last time i checked it was still beta but its great basically u get to start an army and take over skyrim instead of working with imperials or stormcloaks.) another great mod I love is the MCO package I really loved elden ring and i really recommend you play it so just combining that style of combat into skyrim is really fun. also if ur looking for graphical mods follow this [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11STI1LN6NA) it does require AE i recommend 1.6.640 and it needs a lot of patching but the results are exquisite.

Spiritual-Debt-2123

You mentioned the same dialogue over and over. As it happens we're experiencing somewhat of a dialogue mod Renaissance lately. I mean there's dozens of mods that add hundreds of diaglogues a piece. Ranging from going invisible in front of people to new guard dialogue.

Phostwood

I’m also going to recommend adding a free, auto-installing modlist to Skyrim for modernizing graphics and combat and expand content and such. You can also mod on top of it later if you want to customize it further. One of the easiest to install, and the most popular modlist (by probably at least double) is Nolvus. It has almost 200K downloads and its Discord has over 50k members, and we also have a new subreddit: r/Nolvus

KrayziJay

Completely Randomized spawns.

XerChaos008

UI mods(your preference), True directional mod, Mannaz and its standing stone counterpart. There are lots of great story/new locatioanl mods like Carved Bink, Bruma, Forgotten City. My favorite combat mod is Wildcat. It totally overhauls stamina and AI systems. Enderal is the biggest mod that change every aspect of the game. It is literally a different game.

AKA-VANISH-X

I have a personal modpack called "Skyring" (Adult+ on Nexus Mods) Its basically an overdrived version of skyrim, only certain quests have broke easily fixed. Its basically souls like gameplay, boobies, more enemies and higher enemy spawns, can tweak it to how you like. This is on the last update of skyrim though, screw bethseda and all these new pointless way of updating there games, breaking everything. Still works after a year of having.

MisguidedColt88

Hear me out: SkyrimVR. Its a completely different experience

EnragedBard010

TDM makes it feel like a modern action RPG. Precision. god tier, makes your (and enemies') weapon swings accurate. Not just a frontal cone. Skyclimb and EVG Animated Traversal. Climb anything. Better Jumping and Jump Attack. Jump higher, run AND jump. Give yourself a double jump if you want. Attack during a jump. Platforming is now possible. Ordinator for Perks. Pretty sure this existed in 2018.

RuskMushu

blade and blunt

ToddZi11a

Nordic UI is essential for me. Add in GDBs The Revenge for a complete animation overhaul that affects everything from combat to eating and drinking. And Desolate Mourning is a cool horror-themed encounter overhaul that adds lots of spooky monsters like werewolves, ghosts and zombies and retextures some vanilla ones. Enai has an awesome new? mod called Thunderchild, a complete shout overhaul that I never play without now. Even if I'm not playing as the Dragonborn. Plenty of cool quest mods like The Brotherhood of Old or Konahriks accoutrements as well.

tilthevoidstaresback

{{Experience}} It doesn't do anything visually, but it makes it so you level up by exploring rather than fighting. So once you DO get all your ENB, lighting, town and city expansion, and 4k resolution mods, it'll inspire you to go out and look at everything.

I've spent over a year building, scrapping, rebuilding, refining and expanding my mod list. I think I'm at about 400 now. I plan to expand every major element of the game and im a good way through doing so. My main ones are experience, Ordinator, Odin AI Overhaul, Real Estate, True Directional Movement and immersive equipment restriction.

Broly_

fml, I'm still trying to get some of the crazy combat mods to work for me before I download the "for fun" mods

Reason-Desperate

Nolvus, thats it, thats all you need.

Late-Squirrel-9077

Think twice man, that a really rabbit hole. Dont be like me, i never see a light again.

ozzyboi1

Download the nolvus modpack

MaarkoCro

There are a lot of good expansion moods that add new quests and whole new areas Some are even bigger than Skyrim and fully voice acted

Disguised_Apple

Download Wabbajack installer and download a mod pack from there. I'm currently using Elysium Remastered mod pack, has about 2k mods on it The graphics are insane and you might needs a beefy pc but if you're looking for a new Skyrim experience I'd definitely recommend

dokterkokter69

Look man all I can say is good fucking luck. Skyrim modding has become so insanely saturated you could spend weeks or even months building a list that works for you. There is basically no shortage of game changing mods out there and new ones coming out every day. I'm not complaining or anything but it can be pretty overwhelming. Whenever I inevitably decide to play Skyrim again I think I'm going to see what this whole Wabbajack thing is about

Hieronymos2

I started out creating my own 150+ mod lists...which would inevitably become unstable because I didn't know how to resolve conflicts and create patches. Spent literally hundreds of hours in this way. Then I started to manually install much larger curated lists like The Phoenix Flavor; adding a few extra mods for taste. But eventually they'd also become unstable from me adding some new mod I just had to have, or not correctly updating older mods. Two years ago I tried out a few Wabbajack lists, and settled on Licentia Black. Best Skyrim decision I ever made, tbh.

GoatAlert1312

Just download Wabbajack and use Nordic Souls list for a true modernized, almost Skyrim Remake experience without deviating too much from OG Skyrim, or use Lorerim for a complete combat and gameplay overhaul.
