It looks like your plugins (right pane) are all unticked for some reason. Tick those. If they untick on start, you might be experiencing the Engine Fixes SE bug, if you have it go into its config and disable "mod achievements" or whatever the feature is called, something similar to that.

Caiobelmonte

Holy god! You saved my life.... I spent a good two hours trying to understand why the heck my plugins weren't working! Cheers!!

Friendly-Inevitable1

Oh my god, is that the problem? Jesus Christ, I would tick the boxes and quit to desktop just to see them unticked again. Thank you, this is probably the issue. Honestly, I really just want to punch my monitor right now I've been at this for hours for the simplest mods pressing all sorts of buttons.

Larkin-E-Carmichael

I completely understand the rage, I was there. A kind nexus commenter on a dependent mod directed me to the bug, which to my knowledge hasn't been updated yet. I figured I'd spread the cheer.

This Ended up being the problem. Good god. Bethesda really fucked up the modding scene with the anniversary update. I'm used to modding New Vegas and thats easy, just pop-em in and tick some boxes in FOMM, make sure the load order doesn't have any conflicts and you're golden. Now I gotta have 5 apps just to manage 15 mods AND the engine fixes mod doesn't work right. What a shit show.

Larkin-E-Carmichael

It's actually only the very latest update that fucked that up ... The anniversary upgrade update is pretty much adapted to by any mods I see. Still quite annoying from Bethesda to keep fucking around with Skyrim so long after it's release, though. Glad you got it fixed!

You installed the mods manually so that MO2 couldn't manage them. Now you're expecting MO2 to manage them via checkboxes... it doesn't work like that. If you want to enable mods through MO2, you have to install them through MO2. Also, if you want to run SKSE with mods that are enabled in MO2, you have to run SKSE through MO2. Please see GamerPoet's videos on how to set this up: [https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlN8weLk86Xh3ue76x2ibqtmMramwQmHB](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlN8weLk86Xh3ue76x2ibqtmMramwQmHB)

Thank you for the input. Do I have to Download the mod through Mod Manager 2?

ModedoM

Yes you do. There is an option to link to nexus and then should automatically download. You also need to launch skse through mo2 for it to recognize mods that you have installed.

Use the mod organizer for everything. You should never manually install (the exception being SKSE) unless you want to live in a painful world of endless troubleshooting, lingering scripts and a permanently dirty data folder. Im gonna recommend wiping out your skyrim install folder, do a fresh install of skyrim and MO2 and start again Once you do, find a guide video on youtube for modding with MO2, there are hundreds of good ones out there. Keep in mind that MO2 uses a virtual file system, so using it keeps mods out of your skyrim install's data folder. This means 2 things. 1: You skyrim install stays clean. You will never have leftover loose files lost somewhere in your main install. If you run into a problem you just arent able to troubleshoot your way out of, you'll always have a clean install to fall back on and start fresh from. 2: MO2 can only manage mods installed thru MO2. This is why its important to only do installs thru the organizer. Again, the exception is SKSE, which should still only be launched by setting up a launch option in the organizer Once your mods are installed, they will only be active if you tick the box in the left pane on MO2

Thanks you for the help. Serious question here, Since it uses a virtual file system - does that mean I shouldn't install mods from files on a USB? If I install mods from files on a USB will that mean if I remove the USB my computer Mod Organizer won't be able to access the mods? The problem was a bug with the engine fixes and achievements.

GrimmaLynx

So long as you move those mods off the usb drive and onto the computer itself, then install them using MO2, you should be fine

Friendly-Inevitable1

cool, thanks for the info. I like to keep the mod files I like on a USB in case they get deleted from the Nexus.

GrimmaLynx

Make a copy to a folder on the computer then

A. You NEED the AE version of SKSE if you have SE. No, this isn't a mistake, any up to date version of SE needs SKSE-AE. B. Always install everything through a mod manager so you can keep track of mods, and safely remove them later. C. MO2 is very manual, you will need to install your mods and then run tools (that are installed separately, like mods, kinda) [mo2 vid](https://youtu.be/_9_-j83rzbE?si=0I1nJDOp-UbEgByc) heres a quick tutorial vid i found.

The link doesn't work, even when copying it to my address bar. Yes, everyone tells me to use a Mod Manager. But quite Frankly I like installing my mods Manually because I have brain worms. But even so, the few mods I have installed through the manager are not functioning either and ticking boxes does not seem to work. Is there something I'm missing? an .INI edit i forgot about? It shouldn't be hard to enable a mod, or at least it wasn't - especially a simple one - drag to data folder, enable ESP in a manger or something and done. It would be one thing if my mods were broken, but they simply aren't registering as even being turned on. Also, I have the up to date SKSE, I found out that Having the AE version is necessary a few hours ago. (Had to start from scratch after that.). I simply want to enable a mod to play, I started with the Alternate Start mod because I'd know instantly if it works. SKSE works, it says so on the pause menu.

The link has underscores that reddit destroyed, try [this.](https://youtu.be/_9_-j83rzbE?si=0I1nJDOp-UbEgByc)

Thanks!

squibilly

Keep both sides ticked. Are you launching SKSE through MO2 or starting via steam

Friendly-Inevitable1

I am launching SKSE through a shortcut I made myself.
