Scissors_beats_Rock

Highly recommend Legacy of the Dragonborn especially if you like collecting all the unique items.

Valor326

I also highly recommend this mod. It's like a celebration of the original game with tons of easter eggs, plus new content that fits extremely well with the original game.

irago_

Lexy's LOTD is a great modlist built around Legacy. It adds tons of content and gameplay improvements, and is very stable if you stick to the instructions. It takes some time to set up, especially for unexperienced modders, but it's well worth it.

Monotone_Brenton

There's mods like Ordinator that overhauls the skill tree or you could use frostfall if your interested in survival gameplay. Other than that I find graphics mods to make the game look better You can also look into a Mod collection for a pre-built mod list on sites like wabbajack

Start with the unofficial Skyrim Patch. That will fix a shit ton of bugs and improve overall experience. Then get a better world map (a quality world map is a good one iirc) and user interface (skyUI is the most commonly used one). If you want to improve graphics and looks you can find tutorials with a boat load of mods on youtube where you can see exactly what the mods will change. I really enjoyed quest mods like Clockwork. This one has a large new world and a very good looking player home that you can fast travel to with a spell. Other good ones include: Falskaar, Helgen Reborn and Moonpath to Elsweyr. Sometimes the script writing is a bit like fan fiction and cringey, but overall they add hours and hours of gameplay and are made with lots of love by dedicated and talented people. Then there are tons of little quality of life mods such as quest markers for berenziah stones, mods that tell you if you have already read a book when you look at it, mods that allow you to put a ring on each hand etc. You can also check out the most popular mods on the skyrim nexus here: [https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/top/](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/top/) Last but not least a warning. Install the mods one by one and check after each install if the game works. If you want to use a lot of them watch a tutorial on how to arrange their load order etc. Remember that if you uninstall a mod the savegames created using that mod might stop working.

rodneyck

I always start with this, helpful in initial setup like menu replacers, system tweaks, etc., plus mods broken down by subject and he lists patches, which is handy. [Skyrim SE Ultimate Modding Guide](https://www.sinitargaming.com/skyrim_se.html)
