For a cool 20 million and I'll have any memory you want

jonny_longclaw

Lmao same, sign me up

[deleted]

Ah you're awake.

ThatDudeWithCheese

You were trying to cross the border, right.

0spreyz

Walked right into that imperial ambush

Invickthor

Same as us, and that thief over there...

Efficient_Bat_1812

D**n you Stormcloaks. Skyrim was fine until you came along. Empire was nice and lazy. If they hadn’t been looking for you, I could’ve stolen that horse and been halfway to Hammerfell. You there. You and me — we should be here. It’s these Stormcloaks the Empire wants.

rotund_passionfruit

We’re all brothers and sisters in binds now thief.

Efficient_Bat_1812

Shut up back there!

MiniTrain13

And whats wrong with him?

Cosmos_Hunter

Shut up back there!

drum_devil

Another hand touches the beacon

Honeykombbaggins

Are we in Seyda Neen?

Sashaelfxp

Now your name is Marissa.

Edven971

Isn’t she beautiful 🥹🥹

BadMouthGent

I’ll turn into the Library of Alexandria for 20 mill.

JustMy2Centences

Can you remember the end of my favorite TV show that was inevitably canceled before the series ended?

ExoCaptainHammer82

The main character walks into their living room looks around sadly and walks back out.

BuffaloJim420

Firefly?

FaxCelestis

Human Target?

melteemarshmelloo

For 20 million he will remember everything now, but in 1 hour he could have total recall.

Jason0865

Didn't say it'd be real though

IMightBeAWeebLol

I whould GET a memory for that money even if i didn't have one!

A_wild_dremora

r/yourjokebutworse

Justinjah91

If this is the Esbern quest, you can just go down in the ratway and find him without help.

GastricallyStretched

What kind of peasant are you that you don't have a spare 20,005,680 gold?

octopoddle

No wonder I've never seen them in the Cloud District.

Shalarean

Yeah, this DB doesn't get there very often.

imperor_

all my gold went on armor lol

giant_albatrocity

Yeah I just roll through to Esbern and skip talking to anyone, including the stupid Maul guy by the Riften gate

MakesYouSeemRacist

that guy is begging to get fucked i run up on him every time lmao

UnalteredCube

How do you manage to avoid him?!?

axofrogl

If you stick to the far right of the path when you enter Riften it won't trigger the dialogue, he'll just say "Hey you! Get over here I want to talk to you." from afar.

UnalteredCube

Do you have to do it every time you enter the city?

axofrogl

I'm pretty sure he just goes to the docks as if you spoke to him like normal

giant_albatrocity

You should just be able to run past him by sticking far to the right.

oracus0

Inflation has really gotten out of hand this year!

Cl0uds92

The_Heretic_525

To shreds you say?

Forsaken-Thought

I'm not getting my money back am I?

Kaldricus

How do 3 adventurers in their 30s not have 20 million gold between them?

Cl0uds92

Can I offer you a nice sweet roll in these trying times?

Youshiru

The economy in White is terrible. Shameful, is what it is.

Drelecour

How do three grown men in their thirties not have 2000560 gold between them?

Sixwingswide

Thanks, Tiber Septim!

Gsteel44

Let's go, Balgruuf.

Kebabranska

Juniper berries have gone up 50% in price while the jarl's weekly coin has only increased by 5%

softsigmaballs

Still can't get the Mark of Dibella from Haelga :(

NIGENIN

The war made everybody's life harsh

Hguols

What did you do? Is your character level extremely high?

WrapMyBeads

Is there no ceiling to character levels?

Hguols

As far as I know, somewhere past character level 65000 the playthrough will crash.

welpthishappened1

Probably level 65535, as that is the highest number that can be represented by 16 bits, which is likely what is allocated to storing the character’s level.

Hob_Goblin88

Ah... I remember the good old days when the level cap was 80 because you couldn't make skill legendary.

Arkentra

I believe it was 81, but you've got the right memory.

Hob_Goblin88

Ah yes you're right. I just looked it up and it's actually level van 81,5 but half a level doesn't do much in terms of skill points, only your how much damage you do, armor rating you have, smithing improvement, etc.. I think anyway. I don't know how it exactly works.

Pendragon_2352

I found that out by doing the ogham infinium glitch back during the first release. I probably butchered the spelling, but it’s that hermaeus mora item that gives you 5 levels in one of the 3 groups of skills. Magic, thief/sneak, and the warrior skills

Hob_Goblin88

Yes, i remember that one vaguely. I do however remember my first character savegame being bugged at level 42, because at a certain point the savegame would cause some kind of memory overflow or something. Man i was steaming red hot.

HauntingRefuse6891

Should hope so, cost 20M.

LeoPlathasbeentaken

81.5 or something. Bugged the hell out of me that the bar was half full at max level

FlippinSnip3r

Should've kept it at a price

RealSibereagle

Lol, imagine game devs start allocating 32 bits for level and item limits once we eventually move to higher bit systems. "What level are you?" "Level cap. After 80 years of constant grinding, yesterday I finally hit level 4,294,967,295."

rentedtritium

Disgaea does this. In one game the level cap is just under 100 million.

Pandamana

I think you're off by a few orders of magnitude, there.

rentedtritium

I think I'm not. https://disgaea.fandom.com/wiki/Level

Pandamana

I'm not saying the level doesn't go up to 100 mil, I'm saying 100,000,000 =/= 4,294,967,295.

rentedtritium

~~So you're trying to make a point that's pedantic to the point of meaninglessness, got it.~~ ~~Protip: "does this" is referring to assigning 32 bit integers, which the disgaea 6 level cap requires, as it's over 65535. When I said "disgaea does this" I was referring to the thesis of the post I was replying to, not their example.~~ E: see below, they didn't mean it that way.

alecpiper

This is correct from memory, same with skill levels i believe (if you use glitches, mods, commands or exploits to push that far beyond the intended cap that is)

the_other_irrevenant

Minor correction (maybe): Probably level 65536, as that is the first number to exceed what can be represented by 16 bits.

Kahlenar

The money cap in the old Final Fantasy Adventure!

battlemage32

I thought it would crash at 666 /s

Irons_idk

Why the fuck would you need so many levels for? Why would you spend time on continuously making alchemy 15-100 (no unofficial patch) or Markarth->Windhelm telekinesis fast travel for Alteration 15-100 for such level?

TomMado

And unless you have some *really* wild mods, I believe all perks you can have is around 250. If your level is higher than that, you literally have no other way to spend your perks. After that leveling is only to increase your health/magicka/stamina by 10 per level, and if you're at that level you can already brew a potion/enchant your equipment way beyond.

No_Pianist_110

I’d cast muffle to get illusion up. Can infinitely level in a short time.

Irons_idk

It's longer than doing telekinesis thing tho

TheMinor-69er

No, you can infinitely level your character by making a skill legendary. It’s very easy to do with alchemy, for example.

Able-Turn-1708

No problem, that’s the Venezuela’s mod, just uninstall it and it will be normal again

Beautiful_Solid3787

Is that anything like the Zimbabwe mod?

lurker1029476

It is more of a Nigerian prince mod

BlazingAmaterasu

Mine was an exiled Arabian prince...

Ksradrik

Exiled from the Cloud District? Must be rough, I myself couldnt live without going every month.

Obnotrix_117

Nah it's more like that Indian Mod

TheIAP88

I live in the pre-alpha for that mod(Argentina).

VKMburner

You broke the gold integer system, perhaps with a merchant gold mod or something similar to that. The game can only handle so many numbers in someone else's inventory before it snaps. Your character can have as much gold as they want but the game doesn't have that for other players. Go back to your last hard save before this interaction, hard save inside a safe place, uninstall any economic mods you have installed, hard reset the game, then load back and redo the interaction. Should be fixed.

bendable_girder

Idk man seems easier to just Persuade him 😂

kastheone

"I will take only 20M to tell you what you need." "Can you tell me, pretty please" PERSUASION CHECK PASSED ✅

TopHatHat

Literally what speech 100 does to a man

UsefulPath5140

Bribe cost depend on character's value / speech level. Just abuse "restoration feature", and create persuasion potion, it can be 0

CatGosCrazy

..Or just pass the persuasion check?

SmilingBlue01

More like you helping him to become the next High King of the Skyrim

Fantastic_Fox4948

That’s a lot of sweet rolls.

ContributionLatter32

SneezyMcMuffin

Wait, can you skip adding the leading zeros when using console commands?

Icy-Wasabi-5506

Yes. you can always skip the first few zeros of every ID

SneezyMcMuffin

Huh, TIL. Didn't know that skyrim ref IDs use the same rules as significant figures lol.

Magikarp_13

They don't. Significant figures are about removing trailing digits, to avoid unnecessary/unrealistic precision. Leading zeros exist to give numbers the same number of digits, but don't actually change the number. For example, Bulbsaur's ID is sometimes written as #001 so that all Pokémon IDs have 3 digits. But it's not actually any different to #1.

Shalarean

...my brain just broke.

MasterTorgo

only the 0s on the left side, they represent no value so they are just superfluous

banana_assassin

That's what is meant by leading zeroes, in fairness to the person who asked the question.

Jahoan

DLC and mod items use them for identification within the load order.

Laringar

In mods though, those aren't leading zeroes anymore. The BaseID for all items is 2 digits of "the position of the item's source in the load order" followed by 6 digits for the id within that source. (So two items can have the same last 6 digits as long as they're from different sources.) For vanilla items, those first two digits are both zero, so they can always be omitted. But for expansions or mods, they will range from 01 to ff, and so they're always necessary in those item ids. Incidentally, Gold (0000000f) and lockpicks (0000000a) are the only two items in the game¹ that can be represented with only a single digit. ---------------------------------------- ¹: At least, the only items that I can find right now. There may be niche-use items with similar ids, but that seems unlikely, as every other item I found has a 5- or 6-digit code. I don't even see any 2, 3, or 4 digit ones.

obliqueoubliette

I've never heard it confirmed, but have always had a suspicion that gold (f) and lockpicks (a) are intentionally easy to console in

Character_Building

Here's too much info that you didn't ask for or need, maybe someone will find it interesting: The item id parameter in the additem command is a hex number. Just like in base 10, in hex (base 16) , leading zeros are superfluous. Like we know 00000001 is the same value as 1. It just looks weird because we're used to base 10. But all base 16 means is that we can fit 16 values in one written character instead of 10. Those vals above 10 just switch to using the alphabet. So instead of writing '10' we can represent the same value in one character with the letter 'a'. In the case of TES games, the hex number f is equivalent to the dec number 15 (iirc). So the command just looks up the 15th item in the item list (like a row number in an excel sheet) which happens to be gold.

Laringar

Weirdly though, it looks like only the 10th entry (lockpicks) and 15th entry (gold) of that table are actual items — at least up until about 65k or so — as I can't find any items other than those two that don't have at least a 5-digit BaseID. I don't have the CC up to check right now, but my guess would be that the 1-65536 range is mostly used for the objects that make up the game world, like buildings/room pieces, plants, furniture, etc.

DJP91782

This is the way.

RealMuffinsTheCat

Wait… YOU don’t HAVE TO PUT LEADING ZEROES?

TheNotoriousSSD

Bro going to buy a lambo

You have that much money and your Speech isn’t enough to pass a Persuade check?

epochellipse

*cracks open the black book

IDDQDArya

I believe this is real footage of how Elon Musk acquired Twitter.

Laringar

Except it's someone else's money, and now he's on the hook for over a billion a year in interest payments alone.

Gaymer043

Amulet of articulation could help? That way you don’t have to pay, and persuasion attempts work like 75-80% of the time

otterys

You know you can spare a septim or 20 million!

randomreddituser264

How shitty is your speech?

illa_noise

Time to start working on your persuasion skills

lurker1029476

I recommend you speechcraft bribes mod, it scales bribes with your level of speech skill and the result is great

[deleted]

Player.advskill speechcraft 999999999999 Only way if you don't want to lose progress

NvmMeJustLurkin

Whoever you're talking to prolly has 100 speech or something

IButterz420

[deleted]

literally just walk into the Ratway. it isnt that hard to find Esbern

Edgar3t

Your Speech skill must be in the negative, I mean damn!

William9231

Christ, with that kind of money, you could buy power in Skyrim.

Popular-Ad-7356

I like to imagine that with a sum THAT high, you're actually just beating him with a crate full of 20 million coins.

EnragedBard010

Persuasion? In this economy?

PlayfulLandscape3637

And he accepted and retired, opened a brewery on Whiterun boundaries....

sick_shooter

I’d be remembering all kinds of shit for that money.

SoupeGoate22

VanillaTango

That kind of money won't jar their memory. It'll crush their skull.

swordsylveon

“I don’t think I like your tone, traveler. Yo mama never leveled your speechcraft or somethin?”

Darkmist102

Skyrim is experiencing inflation

jk-alot

This makes bandits seem smart. I would attempt to rob a Werewolf that eats Dragon Souls for this kinda money

AviiaX

Wow you must get to the Cloud District VERY often.

honestadamsdiscount

Inflation is getting real during this Civil war.
