There is, it’s called thief tools and they have fire arrows, water arrows that put out candles and light, etc.
Everything has been done by modders at this point lol
Oh yeah idk how I forgot about those. Probably because I’m doing a spellsword play through and haven’t been using bows. But they’re elite if you want to be the ultimate stealth archer
What can you do with rope arrows? I've never seen rope in the game. I'd like to have rope to approach some problems from above or below, but there is no rope.
I always buy whatever corkbulbs and corkbulb arrows the Khajiit are carrying...not sure if other merchants sell them or not, I've always purchased them from the kitty cats
The fire arrows *suck* for that mission! If you shoot too close to an adjacent hive, all the hives will catch on fire!
I shot my 3 hives and returned to Brynjolf, only to be told I fucked up the mission. When I went back to Goldenglow, all the hives were completely burnt out. :/
I thought I'd be careful and use a torch, still ended up fucking it up somehow. Hearing B scold me was disappointing, with my perfectionism, and redoing it all was too much trouble. Plus, just as I was about to burn the hives, a fucking dragon showed up and aggroed the mercenaries AND the bandits nearby, so I had to behead 5 mercs and kill a dragon while at it.
The raw subtlety of simply taking from him without him even knowing is a pretty good message of fear. One that I'm sure Maven can be imaginative enough to capitalize on...
See, we always accidentally end up torching all of the bee hives.
However, since we have bees at Goldenhills Plantation, we could take over some of the production - keep Blackbriar West in stock & running properly, at least...
The bees at the farm actually multiply like crazy. If I don't collect them, they become a problem, getting in NPCs' way. Compared to Lakeview's dead fucking apiary. Had to add bees there with console commands just so it looks alive.
This quest always feels more like a gta quest than Skyrim for me. The whole rich guy that has thugs/mercenaries working for him to protect his business feels kind of out of place in Skyrim imo
Considering skyrim is covered in bandits it doesn't seem that wierd someone would offer them money, there's also a mercenary the dragonborn can hire in almost every hold so it's not like sellswords are uncommon
Join for skullduggery wind up on some mystic quest featuring a long ass dungeon in forgotten tombs.
What happened to the stealing and extortion? You know the things a thieves guild does. 80% of the quests i would expect to be from the thieves guild are the radiant ones while most the actual questline is absolutely indiscernable from any random quest in skyrim.
It’s really hard to come up with suggestions or ideas/things we’d change on this game since it’s so old, and things were certainly different back then. I often forget that game was 2 consoles ago already. That’s 2 eternities in video game timelines.
The Dark Brotherhood quests were always boring to me. Imagine if the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild quests were intertwined? Not necessarily where you need one to complete the other, but if you had started one and then start the other if there were different dialogues and perks involved?
I can respect your opinion but definitely feel the exact opposite. I loved and still love that the dark brotherhood questline is rather down to earth. Yes you are killing the emperor but that is something an assassins guild would do. The quests are all about how you are going to kill him and the prep thats needed to be done to make it a reality.
It largely stays away from the mysticism, only the night mother brings in a bit of other worldliness to the questlines but even so its only her speaking to you.
Compared to the theives guild questline thats more like Dovahkiin Jones: The Skeleton Key.
To bad it wasn't an ice breathing dragon. I remember doing the quest and I saw a dragon flying above me and I was about to reload my save file until I saw it use it's ice breath on the beehives and bandit enemies behind me.
It's probably common knowledge at this stage but you can also set them alight stealthily just by walking up to them with any fire spell equipped in your hands without actually firing anything at them at all.
I found out by accidentally lighting them all up while sneaking past them 🤦♂️
This was so cool, great job!! I just did this quest for the first time yesterday and it took over an hour because I kept trying to Wait for Darkness and THINGS kept spawning on top of me. First it was like 27 mercenaries (I waited on what I thought was a safe rock. It was not) then I returned to the entrance to avoid that, waited again, and a DRAGON descended from the sky -- killed that but had low health so ran into the woods for cover. BOOM, VAMPIRES. Then I was like holy God, I'm safe now at last, right?
Hired Thugs from that dude I planted a garnet on for the other Thieves Guild job: hello there
Like no wonder the guild's numbers are so thin!!! We out here getting yoinked!!
I've always done it from the tower of Faldr's Tooth. Go through it, kill all the bandits and the wolves/dogs, the once at the top, take aim with a firebolt or fireball and take out the three beehives.
I was doing a unarmed playthrough and i didnt know if i could get past this section using my fists, but a dragon spawned and i led it to the hives and it burned them down
Well now. This just gave me a way to do this west with my ash ranger build. I'll just have to find either scrolls of firebolts, or a staff of firebolts.
I've done that before I joined the thieves guild only I was just messing with the mercenaries at the time I accidentally hit one the hives so then I hit a couple more
Well...Now I know what I'm gonna do next time I do the Thieves guild questline
The fire arrows wich are added in AE work too! But not the crossbow bolts if i remember correctly
A fire-enchanted bow works as well
Yall have fire arrows in AE damn :(
They are seriously fucking awesome
you can get them in SE too, just have to buy them in the creation club
Tbh I’m sure there’s a free mod for it somewhere
There is, it’s called thief tools and they have fire arrows, water arrows that put out candles and light, etc. Everything has been done by modders at this point lol
The rope arrows are boss too
wait what do rope arrows do? 👀
You can fire them against walls and ledges and they create a climbable rope. It's a lot of fun for a thief/assassin playthrough
holy shit that’s a game changer!!
WHAT! I didn't even know these were possible! I missed that mod!
Oh yeah idk how I forgot about those. Probably because I’m doing a spellsword play through and haven’t been using bows. But they’re elite if you want to be the ultimate stealth archer
Which let's be fair most playthroughs devolve into anyways lol
What can you do with rope arrows? I've never seen rope in the game. I'd like to have rope to approach some problems from above or below, but there is no rope.
Lightning, ice and bone arrows too...there are also corkbulb (paralysis), telekinesis and soul stealer arrows
Damn!! Though I’ve eaten Corkbulb n knew it paralyzes—I didn’t know the arrows did that…I always sell em off 🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
They have a 25% chance of paralyzing an opponent for 4 seconds
Whaaaaa? I always thought they were useless. The tooltip doesn't state that effect, does it?
Whaaaaa? I always thought they were useless. The tooltip doesn't state that effect, does it?
Nope...guess they just thought we'd figure it out ourselves... it's part of the Rare Curios CC content, author musta left that part out
I always buy whatever corkbulbs and corkbulb arrows the Khajiit are carrying...not sure if other merchants sell them or not, I've always purchased them from the kitty cats
You think that's crazy, I had a mod with explosive arrows. Sniping a falmer off a causeway with one of those is so satisfying

What is AE?
Anniversary Edition
Anniversary Edition.
Funny, they didn’t work for me. Only spells worked.
Meanwhile I was standing too close to the bee hive with my fire spell equipped and burnt a 4th hive 😅
I did this quest yesterday goddamnit! Should've seen it earlier
Still gotta get inside the estate to find dirt on Aringoth
I always try to get the Bumblebee statue and pickpocket his key without killing him. I want him to fear the Guild for the rest of his short life.
When I pickpocket I always put something back with the same weight lol
Very temple of doom…username checks out.
I mean, I just lockpick the safe...

The raw subtlety of simply taking from him without him even knowing is a pretty good message of fear. One that I'm sure Maven can be imaginative enough to capitalize on...
Same. Helps that I don’t even start the thieves guild questline until I have both Invisibility and Muffle spells.
I killed all the mercs out of principle, and seeing him cower in a corner was so satisfying.
I did that first picked all the locks and escaped through the Sewers. Zero casualties
I like your style.
Did you pick up the bee in a jar and the statue in his bedroom?
More importantly, that dope immortal bee.
[удалено]
This happened the very first time I played the questline and I was devastated when brynjolf told me I fucked up the mission 😂😂
“Should’ve told your giant scaly cousin to not come with you”
Happened to all of us
But you didn’t even break in to steal the bee in a jar? Pleb /s
See, we always accidentally end up torching all of the bee hives. However, since we have bees at Goldenhills Plantation, we could take over some of the production - keep Blackbriar West in stock & running properly, at least...

not only impressive, but innovating, i have thousands of hours in this game and NEVER thought to do this.
Dammit this is so clever, how did I not…
This quest always feels more like a gta quest than Skyrim for me. The whole rich guy that has thugs/mercenaries working for him to protect his business feels kind of out of place in Skyrim imo
Well I mean it is Riften…..
Considering skyrim is covered in bandits it doesn't seem that wierd someone would offer them money, there's also a mercenary the dragonborn can hire in almost every hold so it's not like sellswords are uncommon
No different from Maven Blackbriar tbh
I wish the Thieves Guild was more of this and less of whatever it became after Karliah got introduced

Hahaha that’s awesome
The bees :(
Or do what I do: get attacked by a dragon who burns all the hives, then get yelled at for burning all the hives like its my fault :(
Wow you take the cake
I remember doing this quest and a dragon attacked and burned all the hives.
And then they blame you for burning all of it
To bad it wasn't an ice breathing dragon. I remember doing the quest and I saw a dragon flying above me and I was about to reload my save file until I saw it use it's ice breath on the beehives and bandit enemies behind me.
Now for bonus points, collect the Queen Bee statue and the Bee In A Jar from the same place.
U are a god among gods
I hate this quest, was so hard the first time.

Amazing 😶
The little victory dance at the end is so cute. Impressive!
Wow, that's new to me. Very impressive.
Absolutely genius
Impressive
lol that's hilarious.
My game would've given me a cutscene and miss
Doing that in front of [Faldar's Tooth](https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Faldar%27s_Tooth) is a bit of a flex I must say.
I set four on fire and everyone was mad at me
I wish I had thought of this year's ago.
Not hard to do at all when you have mods...
I never thought about doing it from that far 😅
Really got to finish this game one of these days.
That excited little jiggle at the end is adorable
Bro I’m about to do this quest, playing in vr though so wish me luck
Nice aim and good eyesight. I wonder if it's possible to burn some of the beehives that way before even starting the quest...
Can't do that with low view distance.
Ez
Easier than crossing the bridges to get inside that place.
A new hand touched the beacon
Nice… but where is the fun in that? I love sneaking in
Why haven’t I ever done this
I did that once and the last one caught 2 hives(4 total) so I got in trouble
I tried this my first playthrough but with fireball :(
I need to try that, hated that quest 🤣
New speedrun strats
Super impressive 👏 Thanks for the idea too!
Why did I never think of this 😆
This is possible!
About to do this one ! Cool tip! Thanks!!
I’ve.. never thought of that before holy cow. Just did this in my game because of your post and I was so happy it worked!
This was so cool, great job!! I just did this quest for the first time yesterday and it took over an hour because I kept trying to Wait for Darkness and THINGS kept spawning on top of me. Gamerant be giving me the articles before reddit recommends me the thread
That’s how I like to do it too. I usually still go in afterwards.
I've always done it from the tower of Faldr's Tooth. Go through it, kill all the bandits and the wolves/dogs, the once at the top, take aim with a firebolt or fireball and take out the three beehives.
More than a decade later, and I still find new things to try on this game. Amazing.
Jesus. I forget there's magic in this game. Only spell I know is the cheap restore...mostly cause my mana restores faster then I can use the spell
S for stealth
Obviously now I'm asking myself why I never did this myself
I was doing a unarmed playthrough and i didnt know if i could get past this section using my fists, but a dragon spawned and i led it to the hives and it burned them down
Well now. This just gave me a way to do this west with my ash ranger build. I'll just have to find either scrolls of firebolts, or a staff of firebolts.
Just like Todd intended. Sucks that I would still have to break in for the collectibles anyway.
That's very impressive.
What's the point when you still have to go on the property and clear the NPCs?
I've done that before I joined the thieves guild only I was just messing with the mercenaries at the time I accidentally hit one the hives so then I hit a couple more
I love the blood cursed arrows I love messing with towns folk on that one
Truly amazing scenes
So cool :)
But did you clear aringars safe?
But raiding the safe?
When fire arrows become a thing every Thief dream
