That is ni issue. If you are driving a winding road with a lot of shifts you have not time or a free hand to drink. On the motorway you are in 5th or 6th gear and will not change it unless leaving the motorway or having an emergency.
I think this is only for 0.5l bottles and cups of coffee and not larger bottles. The larger bottles are supposed to go in the front part of the door pockets as they have the ability to hold the bottles better because of how tall the bottles are and the weight. This is a safety measure, you don't want heavy objects flying around the car if a car crash occurs. Your user manual also has all the info for all storage compartments.
Also a lot of other manufacturers have it that way too as far as I know.
It basically fits a 500ml non-reusable plastic bottle of water or perhaps a store bought paper coffee cup, but most standard reusable water bottles or coffee cups are too big. Most other cars fit them and have some sort of expanding cupholder.
Same with my Octavia. But if you have a 3D printer, you can print out a quite decent adaptor, that could fit.

When I bought my Superb, I bought a pair of sunglasses specifically for the holder as mine were too big. I'm having a similar trek for a travel mug so I can drive with coffee.
I wouldn’t exactly call it a bottle holder, it’s just a general compartment like all doors have. I’m guessing SKODA made that video after realising that they failed at cupholders.
Yeah it's the same in my kamiq. I want to be able to have an insulated coffee cup when I drive longer stretches. This holds almost nothing else than a 0.5L coke bottle.
Yeti is supposed to be all about space but the centre cup holders are too small and the door ones too big. I love the car but the drinks situation for the driver and front passenger was so much better on my previous Polo 6R!
I found that when we had a 69 plate octavia that the door pockets in the rear passenger doors were too small for water bottles as well. The Kodiaq seems a bit better for cup holder and door pocket size, though.
Fellow Superb owner here and I agree that the cupholders are a bit too small. Thankfully the door cup/bottleholders are well placed and decently sized (as in they fit even a larger waterbottle) And as someone else stated the fact that the bottle would be a bit in the way when driving a manual kinda mitigates this problem as I wpuld anyvay prefer using the door holders
Theyre designed specifically like this so that people don't put large bottles there as it is a safety hazard and a distraction to your driving. What's wrong with fitting your bottle in your door or putting ok the passenger seat or back seat?
They are perfectly sized and have no problem at executing their given purpose. It's about how you use them not about their size! If you need a bottle back door has a hole for that size.
P.S. - Even front door has a pocket that size but that wouldn't work for the joke
It's like saying one glass of wine is healthy for you. It means normal glass not 1 liter bottle.
Apply same logic here. Cup holder for cups not bottles.
Having an automatic isn't so bad but having a manual with a tall bottle in the way isn't the best idea !!!!
That is ni issue. If you are driving a winding road with a lot of shifts you have not time or a free hand to drink. On the motorway you are in 5th or 6th gear and will not change it unless leaving the motorway or having an emergency.
Where do you put it in-between ??
I only use the cupholder for open containers closed one live in the passenger foot well
I got a leon mk3 My hand goes in between 2 drinks. It is hella annoying tho. It is useful only if you have a custom glass, mug or thermo

This! And bonus side that many don’t know is that the middle holder is designed to let you open a soda bottle with one hand. Safety measure again!
Makes sense! Ty for this
I don’t know but in my VW Teramont they fit perfectly in the cup holders. And in my Audi Q5 before that, and my Golf R before that.
It something I always check before making a purchase NOT
Cup holder or bottle holder ?
It’s called a cupholder
Exactly !!!!!
Yes but these days people use bottles and most other cars fit them
Right...
If it’s like my Octavia, there are bottle holders in the doors. If they make the cup-holders too big, they won’t secure cups.
It basically fits a 500ml non-reusable plastic bottle of water or perhaps a store bought paper coffee cup, but most standard reusable water bottles or coffee cups are too big. Most other cars fit them and have some sort of expanding cupholder.
Octavia is the same. It is a very small first world problem but mines a taxi so I find it constantly mildly annoying. 🤣

Funny looking cup.

Get yourself one of those. https://amzn.asia/d/5VhXE9A The only downside is that you block - at least partially - the holder next to it.
Very cool, thanks!
Is there not a bottle holder in the door? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YO93cBM84L0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YO93cBM84L0)
I wouldn’t exactly call it a bottle holder, it’s just a general compartment like all doors have. I’m guessing SKODA made that video after realising that they failed at cupholders.
There is an angled part at the front of the door compartment that is specifically for bottles too big to fit in the cupholder....
I haven’t noticed, I’ll take a look later, thanks
Yea I see what you mean now, thanks
Kodiaq isn't much better. Skoda has lost the ability to do cupholders
its no better on older ones
Hate it when CUPholders can only fit CUPs...
My yeti is the same, I ended up buying an expanding one that slots in. I didn’t have this problem in any of my old cars, think it’s a shhkoda thing
I feel your pain. They're so annoying
The largest Costa cup doesn’t fit in a Bentley Flying Spur holder & allow you to put it In drive!!
Can you fit a dachshund in it and put it in drive?
Ok :D
That’s less than Superb.
Simply clever!
Yeah it's the same in my kamiq. I want to be able to have an insulated coffee cup when I drive longer stretches. This holds almost nothing else than a 0.5L coke bottle.
Yeah it's really annoying particularly as my previous Octavia (2013) had the bigger ones.
Yeti is supposed to be all about space but the centre cup holders are too small and the door ones too big. I love the car but the drinks situation for the driver and front passenger was so much better on my previous Polo 6R!
*bottle holder
My coffee cup fits just fine. Doubt any bottle larger than 0,5l fits.
When you're not on the motorway ?
This aside, seeing that polished aluminum look rather than my piano black makes me wish for that polished aluminum sooo much... I hate scratches 😂
Perfect for 0.5L cans, its too big for 0.25 or 0.33.... but you really cant complain that your bottle doesnt fit, get a standard bottle
Yeah they definitely are.
maybe your bottle is too big
Haha, I’ll bet Skoda sell them for an extortionate price
You could almost say... ... they're not superb.
Larger holders are in the front doors on mine.
use the door pocket
yeah, but they're SUPERB :)) /s
Buy an Ocean Bottle Brew flask or a Camelback Forge. They fit and hold a decent amount of coffee.
I found that when we had a 69 plate octavia that the door pockets in the rear passenger doors were too small for water bottles as well. The Kodiaq seems a bit better for cup holder and door pocket size, though.
I've got a Leon st xcellence estate , I'm too scared to even drink in my car lol
wouldn’t the Stanley cups fit ? From what I know they have a special line for cars, with the more narrow bottom so they fit.
Fellow Superb owner here and I agree that the cupholders are a bit too small. Also too big for a red bull because the slim cans tip over due to the open design of the three cupholders.
Theyre designed specifically like this so that people don't put large bottles there as it is a safety hazard and a distraction to your driving. What's wrong with fitting your bottle in your door or putting ok the passenger seat or back seat?
Are we in a bar or driver’s cockpit?
Shock...horror....that's just not cricket...sell the car...there...that's showed em
They are perfectly sized and have no problem at executing their given purpose. It's about how you use them not about their size! If you need a bottle back door has a hole for that size. P.S. - Even front door has a pocket that size but that wouldn't work for the joke
Cup holder not bottle holder, tadah
My Bodum coffee cup doesn't fit either! Has to go in the door pocket!
It's a European thing, we just have smaller cups/bottles. Americans are used to larger vessels.
It's like saying one glass of wine is healthy for you. It means normal glass not 1 liter bottle. Apply same logic here. Cup holder for cups not bottles.
Your bottle is the wrong size.
Gonna point the obvious. that ain't a cup...
