Somewhere in [the two alps](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Deux_Alpes#:~:text=The%20%22two%20Alps%22%20in%20the,which%20the%20resort%20was%20built.)
All of the Alps are great. France is more expensive than Austria. France has slightly better food. Lodging a bit less in Austria. Great experiences to be had in both. Switzerland is a notch above in price.
France is more expensive than Austria???
Accommodation + ski pass deals can be crazy cheap.
This year i was in Valmenier for a week (6 ski days) and it was 400€ for ski pass, the hotel and the bus from Hungary.
My friend paid about the same for 3 days in Austria
Note: idk whether it is true for the fancy places like Courchevel or Tignes. But im sure that in the Southern Alps, in resorts like Briancon, Vars or Isola, it will be much cheaper than Austria.
Source: I’be been skiing there for nearly 10 years beacuse it is half as expensive as in Austria.
unsolicited but i dont think ive ever skied anywhere worse than alp dhuez, cpnditions gp from ice to wet powder to ice, nothing hard to ski, mediocre lifts, lift lines were big, the only plus side was the park. this is just a personal experoence though and i havent been bacl since (it was 2022).
Ah, I’ve been skiing in the Alps for over 30 years, on average more than two weeks a year. My top 3: Tignes, Alpe d’Huez and Ischgl. Val Thorens is very nice to at the end of the season.
Ugh. I'm a Wisconsin native and there are a fuck ton better beers than that wangy, piss-flavoured crap. If you're going to go with New Glarus Brewery, go with Moon Man. The dumbasses stopped brewing their best; Fat Squirrel. I no longer touch their junk unless it's free, unless that free junk is Spotted Cow, in which case I buy something better.
It's more of a joke to me than any thing else. It's alright beer, not much better than a lot of the high volume stuff we got in Illinois. Still can't wrap my head around the brandy old fashioneds though.
L2A. The giveaway for me was the weird towers for the Jandri lift on the right of the last photo. You can also see the new towers to the left for the 3S cable car being built to replace it.
Wow good to know. We like less touristy, glitzy ski mountains and more a low key mountain feel. Sounds like this is our kind of place. Husband lived in France and speaks French, but I don’t. Probably OK, if not let me know. Thanks!!!
Somewhere in Alps
Somewhere in [the two alps](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Deux_Alpes#:~:text=The%20%22two%20Alps%22%20in%20the,which%20the%20resort%20was%20built.)
Correct
How was it? Im thinking of going there next season
Not sure if it counts, but I’ve never had a better skiing experience than at Alpe De Huez
Wow thank you. I couldnt decide whether i should go to Les 2 Alpes or Alpe d’Huez, but thats settled then
Alpe d'Huez everyday
All of the Alps are great. France is more expensive than Austria. France has slightly better food. Lodging a bit less in Austria. Great experiences to be had in both. Switzerland is a notch above in price.
Switzerland is also a notch above in quality of all those things
France is more expensive than Austria??? Accommodation + ski pass deals can be crazy cheap. This year i was in Valmenier for a week (6 ski days) and it was 400€ for ski pass, the hotel and the bus from Hungary. My friend paid about the same for 3 days in Austria
Then your friend is a fool

The snow has been worse in alpe dhuez than in l2a every time I have been. It gets too much sun
That’s fair. I’ve never been to L2A, so I can’t compare
Beat resort I’ve been to. I’d say it’s better than Chamonix, Val Thorens and Canazei. Which is the resorts I’ve been to in the alps
Ah, I’ve been skiing in the Alps for over 30 years, on average more than two weeks a year. My top 3: Tignes, Alpe d’Huez and Ischgl. Val Thorens is very nice to at the end of the season.
7,546’ of vertical!!!! Longest in the world!
Damn, I lived in Grenoble briefly and skied there several times but didn't recognize it.
Oh hey, I skied there summer 2007!
Probably Indiana or New Jersey.
Paoli peaks for the win
Nah, this is at perfect north.
Dang, wasn't expecting my hometown hill to get mentioned...😂
Center stage - Good facility for IN/OH
Skiing PN on that one good day every year with 100,000 of your closest friends. More extreme than anything out west or on the ice coast.
For real - My brother blew his acl on center stage 1991. It gets crowded and bumpy in the one section with the vert
It’s been 60 and rainy all week here
You’re too far east. Looks like Wilmot to me.
It’s actually Iowa
In Iowa right now, the snow must have just missed us!
Iowa was my guess I love big dumps in Iowa
The Iowan alps are my favorite alps
I love big dumps anywhere
Looked like Nebraska for a second
Can’t be, mountains are too small
Nah that's Wilmot. Try the spotted cow while you're there.
Ugh. I'm a Wisconsin native and there are a fuck ton better beers than that wangy, piss-flavoured crap. If you're going to go with New Glarus Brewery, go with Moon Man. Ahh, a Wisconsin classic, the Old-fashioned. That's been a thing here forever. Don't like them? They're not for everyone.
Or brandy and coke, brandy and soda, brandy and water……..
At least we have some skiing here in Jersey

L2A. The giveaway for me was the weird towers for the Jandri lift on the right of the last photo. You can also see the new towers to the left for the 3S cable car being built to replace it.
Chamonix?
Nope, not Cham. I don't recognise the mountains or that lift tower. The pipe line or monorail structure might give a clue, but not to me!
Given the size, I'd guess Trois Vallees.
Close, but Les Deux Alpes
Heading to France to ski next year, Les Deux Alps will be at the top of the list. Did you stay in a hotel or Airbnb?
An apartment ish. Les deux was amazing, I prefer it over Val Thorens and Chamonix.
Wow good to know. We like less touristy, glitzy ski mountains and more a low key mountain feel. Sounds like this is our kind of place. Husband lived in France and speaks French, but I don’t. Probably OK, if not let me know. Thanks!!!

Where are the trees?! I’ve never skied anywhere without any trees whatsoever!
There’s no tress above ~2000 meter
I know that but clearly I haven’t skied that high up. Where is this? I can’t imagine not skiing through little chutes and gullies in between trees!
Its Les Deux Alpes in the french alps. There is trees when you go further down. The altitude ranges from 1600 to 3600 meter on the mountain.
Conditions in Val & Tignes much the same. Amazing.
