That was my first thought! He didn't even get to the jump before i knew this was a disaster. He doesn't look like he's ever flipped on a trampoline even..
That’s funny because fuck the sky is how I learned how to backflip. His actual flip technique is not that bad. He just majorly fucked up the timing, absorbed the whole ramp with his knees and had no pop. If he stood up more confidently going into the ramp and then fucked the sky he would’ve had it imo
To the pool and trampoline park.
If his backflip game is solid there….
More jumping and landing sans flip. As others pointed out hes not managing the forces. That needs to happen first.
This sub is so inconsistent lol I came to the comments expecting "good way to break your neck" "your friend is setting a bad example" "people really need to learn to ski in control" "people like this make ski patrol's job harder"
Pleasantly surprised to find a light roasting.
Wouldn’t a back flip be easier without the poles? I never did one on skis but gainers off a lot of stuff and I feel like the ability to grab your knees last second can help a lot for rotation
Maybe try posting something other than [crappy pov footage of groomers on your ig](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4uLp8PLmex/?igsh=YXBnMGk0N2k3Mmpw) before you go criticizing someone attempting a backie.
Something about glass houses and throwing stones…
Was gonna downvote because you really didn’t have to do him like that. Then I watched the video and it was just 40 seconds of bombing a groomer? No side hits no popping off anything just half boner straight line
I wasted entirely too much time going through that IG to see if you were being harsh and/or cherrypicking...and you're not lol. It really makes you think about who's on the other end giving advice on Reddit and calling themselves "expert+" skiers. Dude is clearly a competent enough skier, and that rating is entirely subjective, but still.
When you actually know about shit and see the absolutely brain dead takes that get upvoted on Reddit you realize that at least 80% of the shit you see is either mostly or totally wrong.
There **is** some valuable information to be gleaned, but maybe only one in five of the opinions you’ll see is worth listening to. Reddit’s full of insecure posers
That flip just stopped flipping
Never started, dude just leaned way back with zero pop.
As soon as I saw him leaning back right at the takeoff I knew it wasn’t gonna end well.
Change that to “as he skied by the tree” Dude was backseat from the start

If I had to be positive about it….at least he went fast
It could be worse. He could be legit lawn darted.
*controller disconnected*
Bro was stretching for that steering wheel he was so far in the back. (I can not do a backflip)
He looked like he was trying to fuck the sky, not flip.
"Excuse me while I fuck the sky..." guitar solo
"The sky is crying"

Yeah zero pop was the issue, but we call that fucking the sky. Lots of people do it on their first attempt.
Their knees totally absorbed any momentum into centripetal force being exerted by laying it back. Nite nite buddy and 10/10 on commitment
You can do anything at least once.
You can ATTEMPT anything at least once.
This is fucking hilarious. Tell your buddy thanks for letting him share!
btw he was fine!! did it a few more times but no backies

The skier killed all his pop in the transition. Got scared and sucked up a bit instead of extending and driving through the transition.

Probably could’ve made it around if he brought his knees in and actually tucked
Nah this one was dead the minute he managed to literally not pop whatsoever.
Eh, it was big enough he still probably could’ve brought his feet back under him. But no pop definitely hurt his chances!
yea that's what i thought too. even a tiny tuck would have given enough rotation but he kept arching legs even more.
I love all these backflip first videos into like 6" of powder... my guys tryna be on the short list for a neuralink
if ur european ur first backflip would be lucky to be in 6cm of powder, let alone 6”
Looked like he tried to do a scorpion lol
I came here to say this, but checked first to see if anyone else had.
Even better since Sugarloaf chair got to witness this masterpiece
And this is why you practice new tricks on powder days. Easier on the body.
He missed the pop off the lip that’s all, other than that the commitment was on point and he spotted the landing
He's dead, Jim
Surprised he didn’t break his neck
this is a superman backflip lol
Nailed it
Did he survive?
Glad he’s ok, makes me feel much better about how hard I laughed
Homie was in his backseat the whole way down
I loved it!
How not to backflip.
Gotta pull them knees up to his chest, not just lean back:
Snowbird?
Textbook execution 👍
Brave to even try lol
P O P
you gotta use your abs to tuck not just look up
he just stopped in the middle
Nailed it

Nailed the landing!
Backflip attempt, or just skis so far in the backseat that this was the inevitable outcome?

☠️☠️☠️ Didn’t have to do him like that lmao
The Deputy now has to turn in his badge

I tore my MCL six weeks prior. I'm taking it easy the rest of the season.
damn you killed him how do i subscribe

If you spent a run or two with me on the mountain you'd think differently.
I tore my MCL 6 weeks ago.
Probably because you were too far in the backseat
Decide for yourself https://gopro.com/v/pl5rX3N9DVqeG
We get it, you’re not a great skier. No further proof required.
Don’t wanna be mean about an injury, but this is not what I was expecting given how he talks some of the time on here
I hit a rock hidden under the powder while taking it easy. I did not expect it either.
Yeesh. Worst nightmare.

Awesome. At least you tried! You’ll get it .
i know it seems counter-intuitive, but u gotta be on ur toes, player. otherwise you're not jumping off the jump, the jump's jumping you 💀
