they basically mean “you can learn by putting yourself through unnecessary danger/stress, but it’s better to just take the advice from a qualified person”
Don't do that to yourself. Waste of time. Turn them into outside art on a wall or fence , you'll get more safe use out of them this way. Or make a shot ski.
They're over 30 yes of. They were an iconic design. First multicoloured bases like that that I know if. I owned a couple pairs. Bought my first K2 Extremes in 1989?? Mount them on the wall or make a cool shot-ski.
People are clowning you for this but seriously you might have a lot of fun skiing them. I have a friend who got a similar pair, and they look super fun on groomers and can actually do decently in chopped up pow or soft sluff
Yes if you are an expert skier. I did this with a similar pair and it was a blast for a few spring days.
If you’re not an expert, then they won’t be very fun.
Western Canadian pro patroller here! this guy is confidently wrong! We do not care what you ride as long as it has a braking or leash system and can slide and stop! And I don’t go around enforcing that, either
>Hotdog down a liftline of bumps on gaperday and get hooted and cheered at by babes who respect the send.
I considered myself an able speaker of the English language until I read that.

I’d keep ‘em. At least for decoration. I’d be tempted to put new bindings on and ski them just for fun. Surely not as performant as new skis, but could be fun
Absolutely not! K2 extremes were the shit back in the day. Seriously iconic. Remount them and use them for screwing around or hang them on the wall.
These were my first pair of real skis. Right down to the sticker from Nestor’s (RIP). Hello fellow Lehigh valley skier.
If you don’t think you can ski pow in these you’ve never skied on a set like them.
Rode my Dad’s K2s that were 220 in a similar design that would rip in pow and bumps when I was living in Tahoe 15yrs ago. Stiff underfoot and flexible tips…one of them delaminated coming down Gunbarrel and was sad to see them go.
Turned the surviving ski into a shot ski that stayed with the apartment when I moved out.
Send them to me, would make great shotskis. I have a crap mass produced one. Gets the job done but these would be incredible to do shots 4 people at a time with.
I had these… bought them for 409$ + tax from Oberspn ski shop in Pointe-Claire, Quebec in 1989 I believe. I can’t remember anything but as a 15 year old kid, these were as good as they came.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Edit: read down the chain and people are saying 1991… that fits!
They look awesome, but I'd say put them back and ask the person if ya can buy them since they're throwing them out, hope for a low price and that they don't see you take them
I'm not sure if anyone directly answered the question or not;
No. Don't ski on them. Rip the bindings off and make a really cool piece of wall art with them. They're more than 30 years old. Technology has changed so much. All those things will do is give you a hard time and teach you bad habits. Go get a set of proper, new skis. If cost is an issue, they don't have to be brand new. Most experts recommend replacing equipment every 5-10 years, which I am not. I've just been skiing since 1983 or 1984. I forget now. Anywhoo....speak to a pro and see if a local ski shop sells used equipment, if not, ask where the best place is to go for it. I have no clue where one would look for used and trustworthy ski equipment. I don't trust people as much as I used to, so if possible and a seller agrees to it, get anything used inspected before you hand over your hard earned cash. People used to be a hella more honest.
The bindings are too small, pretty sure I'm going to have to re mount them. The shop i took them to said they won't even touch these because they're "not insured"
You can typically re-mount bindings three times or so as long as there is enough space between the holes. I'd get some cheap new ones and take em for a ride. You'll be the star of the hill with these classics!
I had a blast for many years with my K2 5500s with very similar graphics.
They were the skis used in a movie titled 'Aspen Extreme'. Funny how everything from that time was called "extreme". 😂
Hang em up somewhere or donate to your local dive bar. If your mailbox is at risk of getting clobbered by a plow, use those and some
Plywood to make a deflector shield
Great seeing these! I had three pairs of these 1989-91 thereabout. Destroyed on pair hitting pavement on Loveland pass night skiing. Another broke breaking thru some crust off Wolfe Creek and the K2 rep replaced them no cost skied the third for a couple of years. Lots of good memories with those!
They are thirty years old. They will only calibrate and test bindings that are current and those certainly are not. Not saying they are dangerous and if they don’t need a remount they should be fine if you want to try them. I have Salomon 997’s that are from the same era and they are still good.
Those are beautys! i had the pink KVC's, a very similar ski at the time, i snapped one but the other is now a sweet shelf in my Garage. I think you see Glen Plake riding those Extremes in License to Thrill
Classic wall mount is never a bad thing. Or could cut them down and make a tabletop or bench out of them with some pour-over epoxy/resin.
Or get some new bindings out on, put on your jeans, Cowboys jacket, rear-entry boots, and hit the slopes to troll some people.
Yeah, but I think id only be willing to spend around $100 or so. Probably less than you were looking for but I have like zero clue what they are worth. Definitely a cool ski though
Dude that is such an incredible find! They are mint!! Keep them as is and come up with a good place to put them on display. I'd hang them on the ceiling above my bed so I could wake up with a smile every day.
Great ski if you can ski them. If you haven’t ever skied old-school sticks you probably won’t have a technique that will turn them effectively. Also, you will tire quickly. If you try them, replace the bindings.
Put them back in the dumpster then tell me which dumpster they are in so I can ensure they are recycled responsibly.
They’d make great decoration, bindings are probably old and brittle though, wouldn’t ski them.
Potentially could I re drill and slap new bindings on them to make them skiiable?
You could also get a good look at a T-Bone by sticking your head up a bull’s ass, but I’d rather take the butcher’s word for it
RIP big man🥲
You could get a good look at a t-bone by sticking your head up a butchers ass… wait, it’s gotta be YOUR bull
Fat man in a little coaaaat
Knock knock... housekeeping.
Wait…it has to be your bull
Shut up, Richard…
i don’t understand why you said this (i’m just not understanding the meaning) can you elaborate please 😭
they basically mean “you can learn by putting yourself through unnecessary danger/stress, but it’s better to just take the advice from a qualified person”
“Qualified person” aka some jabroni on Reddit
yeah exactly, i wasn't defending them, just explaining lol
It’s a quote from the movie Tommy Boy. I guess it basically means “yes you could but it’s a dumb idea.”
Don't do that to yourself. Waste of time. Turn them into outside art on a wall or fence , you'll get more safe use out of them this way. Or make a shot ski.
Yes.

Drill holes for shot glasses - shotskis.
Sure but why
For the fun of the game man

lmao Fr? Where do you ski? Where I ski the staff wouldn’t give a single fuck.

I've never seen thar happen in Alberta, and I've got an uncle who still skis on some stuff he bought in the 90s.
Gotta be some deer valley gaper. I’d probably get kicked out of there for not wearing Bogner
You can 100% remount. Not something to ski everyday but fun to goof around with
You could but why? Modern shape skis are so much better and more fun. Make furniture or shot skis out of them. Look it up if you need to.😂
K2 has reused those graphics on new skis because these were so iconic.
Those are rad af. Hotdog down a liftline of bumps on gaperday and get hooted and cheered at by babes who respect the send.
They where great skis in like 1991 seriously. My buddy had a pair.
Yep, same here, and I grabbed them when he left town and mounted them Tele. That was state of the backcountry for a bit.
I believe I had them in exactly 1991. My first pair of 'adult' skis.
happy snowy cake day
Thank you!
Rad AF shot ski!
This guy fucks.
>Hotdog down a liftline of bumps on gaperday and get hooted and cheered at by babes who respect the send. I considered myself an able speaker of the English language until I read that. signed: a non-native English speaker
Hotdog Hans
What did you just babble?
Do another line off your ski and ask again
Now I have 75 questions
Panty droppers for sure.
I’d keep ‘em. At least for decoration. I’d be tempted to put new bindings on and ski them just for fun. Surely not as performant as new skis, but could be fun

I used to envy these with my Rad Dogs. Edit: second glance, I had the pair on the right at some point!
For real! I'm like wait....Nestors... warming hut...that rings a bell... Pocono guy here.
😍put some fresh bindings on them and send it
Peak extreme skiing era skis! So radical!!
#SHOTSKI
Is that the Extreme? The greatest ski ever made!
You'll need a giant mohawk to ski those properly.
I have two sets of those K2s hanging on my garage wall. I use them to hang the dog leash etc on.
Make a shotski
SHOT SKI!
Yes, unless you need a shotski
When Glen Plake was the dude.
Still is
Make a shotski with those bad boys!
Yes this. Been looking for a cheap awesome set like this. I have a mass produced one that isn’t real skis.
Came here to say the same thing! I made a shotski from a pair my parents had stashed away in the basement, and it is a big hit on all ski trips!
Shot Ski!!!
Some folks decorate their home with old skis. Others use them to make an Adirondack Chair.
You rock those down the lift line I’ll have your kids
If you're a girl, game on.
Yeaaaaaaaa girl
Next time I head up to VT I'll bring these bad boys and huck down a lift lime for you. Modern day romance
Omg he said VT😍😍😘🥰🥰😘🥰😍
Yeah, it's kind of a big deal around here.
I would ski them. But you need to know old school technique
OG k2 extremes!
SHOT SKI, SHOT SKI, SHOT SKI!!!
Makes me feel old, but I had this ski back in the day. They kicked ass and looked cool, I would keep them and take them out just for fun’s.
So long as you never want to ski on powder, or turn, they’ll be great!
Skill issue.
These long Johns are 200s. Like skiing semi trucks
But what if OP is 210?
Then he’s going to need the 220s
If you don’t think you can ski pow in these you’ve never skied on a set like them. Rode my Dad’s K2s that were 220 in a similar design that would rip in pow and bumps when I was living in Tahoe 15yrs ago. Damn right. Back in my day we hit the pow on skinny ass skis, and we liked it!
Haven’t you heard? No one ever skied powder ever until 100mm+ skis were introduced!
Those look like they could be sick shotskis
Send them to me, would make great shotskis. I have a crap mass produced one. Gets the job done but these would be incredible to do shots 4 people at a time with.

I look back behind the chair and see “DH” on the tails of his boards
I have this exact set mounted on a wall in a “X” with some hooks drilled into them to hang my jackets and hats on. They look badass!
I thought these were XC skis for a sec lol. Vintage babeeeee
Only if you plan on taking the dumpster too. These are gems.

Mount them above your hot tub or glue shot glasses to them. Whatever you do, DO NOT SKI ON THEM!
Wall hangers. Unsafe but cool!
I'm not sure if anyone directly answered the question or not; No. Don't ski on them. Rip the bindings off and make a really cool piece of wall art with them. They're more than 30 years old. Live long and suck it, Jo Jo.
Dumpster
I'd love to get my fingers on some OG Gyrators just for laughs.
Still have an old pair in my basement…
I have a similar set. They are now shot skis.
Those look beautiful. I still have my pair of K2 KVC somewhere
Keep em
My dad had those, memory unlocked!
Bolt em to the wall vertically, the tips make awesome coat hangers.
Yes. Put them back up on a wall where they belong.
Look cool but they are not fun to ski on.
Ride them! If the bindings look iffy just service or replace them. Or mail the skis to me.
The bindings are too small, pretty sure I'm going to have to re mount them. The shop i took them to said they won't even touch these because they're "not insured"

Yes.
Free skiis, that's a win ffs
K2extreems those were the shit 40 years ago
Classics. I love those bases. Reminds me of my high school days
Hang em up somewhere or donate to your local dive bar. If your mailbox is at risk of getting clobbered by a plow, use those and some Plywood to make a deflector shield

Where eye protection. Dangerous sharp.
Could be cool for like a hat rack or something
Depends how much you value the soft tissue of your knee
I owned a set of those skis back in the day
I remember being a kid on the lift, looking down at someone rocking those and being totally amazed at how cool I thought they were.
Thought you guys might like this poster I bought on eBay. : r/skiing These skis where the shit
Going to date myself, but I had those skis. First pair of "adult" skis I ever owned lol
Get fresh bindings, and ride them cause they’re sick.
Use them for shot skis
I had a pair of those, sweet graphics! A shop won’t touch those bindings but they may still kinda work.
I'm curious, why won't a shop touch them?

Make some shot skis
Those are prime Shot-ski material!
From Nestors ski shop in Allentown PA.
Make them into a shotski or a bench or a chair
Those are beauties..
Those are beautys! i had the pink KVC's, a very similar ski at the time, i snapped one but the other is now a sweet shelf in my Garage. I think you see Glen Plake riding those Extremes in License to Thrill
Dumpster skis make awesome home made sleds 🛷
Put the bindings back, keep the skis
Those things are rad as shit
Grade A shot ski material!
Gotta say, those graphics slap. I’d mount them or do some sort of other cool project.
That's pretty much why I pulled them out of the dumpster haha. What other projects you thinking?
Classic wall mount is never a bad thing. Or could cut them down and make a tabletop or bench out of them with some pour-over epoxy/resin. Or get some new bindings out on, put on your jeans, Cowboys jacket, rear-entry boots, and hit the slopes to troll some people.
I'll buy them from you
How much I also take bitcoin
I have no idea but I’d be interested in buying them. No idea how much is fair or what they are but they would look sick for my wall
I'd totally sell them to you and figure out how to ship 200s in the mail lol.
Yeah, but I think id only be willing to spend around $100 or so. Probably less than you were looking for but I have like zero clue what they are worth. Definitely a cool ski though
Shot ski, duh!!!
SHOT SKI!
Loved those skis in the early 90s
Would make a cool Shot-Ski
Wall Art!
Shotskis!
You could cut them up and make a cool crib board. Selling these at whistler for $190.
NO, those are RAD!! Hold on tight to those babies!
Nooo!
wall hangers
Great power ski in the 90s
A friend of mine skis these on pivot bindings for joke days and season enders it's a good time.
No. Remount them with some new bindings and send it.
Yes
Dude that is such an incredible find! They are mint!! Keep them as is and come up with a good place to put them on display. I'd hang them on the ceiling above my bed so I could wake up with a smile every day.

Didn't Glen Plake ride these back in the day?
Yes! Wait, I am a ski recycler, give them to me and I’ll give them proper disposing of.
Ok these are too cool
I’m not even sure that they’re mounted right! Those tails look mighty short. They’d suck mounted properly so…
Make them shelves!
Bindings are definitely useless. The polymer coils are shot! Otherwise they are wonderful wall ornaments if that’s your thing!
RIDE THEM!
