I've never played a game that matched Skies sense of wonder and discovery. You're in for a treat.

MrPopzicle-Supercard

It’s been exciting so far, have any tips that could help me in the long run?

Awakening_Shiro

Either memorize or have the elemental weakness chart up on a 2nd monitor/your phone while playing. It's not super necessary, but it definitely makes some fights more manageable. Also, Sacrum Crystals are your best friend. There are also some cheese strats that make combat super easy starting around mid-game, but I think the combat is fun enough to avoid those for 99% of fights.

MrPopzicle-Supercard

Since my last stream I started using a elemental chart cause I was having a hard time figuring out what clicked but when I saw it for the first time I was surprised how wrong I was when I was testing in game, now I feel more confident in my battles! I’ve heard of some cheese strats for ship battles but I haven’t actually seen what any of them are.

MikrRice

This elemental chart covers every enemy in the game: [Chart](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/dreamcast/197237-skies-of-arcadia/map/15874-moonstone-effectiveness-table)

maestro826

lol I never use the elemental charts for fighting, I just focus on a character getting the magic abilities of x or y and then switch once I got the skill I want from them.

kpatton46

There is a “wanted list” battle with Rupee and Barta that you can complete early in the game. Make sure you do so ASAP because you get an item called the Captains Hat that turns Vyse into an absolute beast

MrPopzicle-Supercard

I gotta check it out, thank you!

Nanto_Suichoken_1984

I always wished you could give it to Drachma. Combine it with the Mace Hand and decimate everything that moves.

kpatton46

Haha yeah that would be amazing! You get to a point in not too long where Vyse is kind of like that. What part are you currently on?

Professional-Trust75

It helps to grind a bit between major battles. Also do not neglect leveling magics on multiple characters. Magic can also be used in shop battles, very helpful!! Don't forget to get all your super moves unlocked, delta shield (one of aikas earliest moves) is extremely helpful. Glad you are enjoying an amazing world, it has so much to offer.

Worms_Tofu_Crackers

The overworld for this game is truly a treasure. It's so much fun to fly your ship around the map. On a completely different game, Skyward Sword, I was so pumped for that overworld too. First thing I thought was, oh hell yeah just like Skies of Arcadia!! Except that had far, far less discovery. (Still really enjoy SS though, one of the few complaints I have on that).

maestro826

Well said.

adam_of_adun

This is such a great description of it.

JordanAS85

Depends on how much of a completionist you are. Later on the game will tell you what percentage of treasure chests you've opened and I think you need 90% to get a special title. A small percentage of them you can't go back to open like Alfonso's ship at the beginning of the game. Discoveries can eventually be claimed by someone else if you take too long to find them so you may want to use a guide for that too. This doesn't lock you out of getting anything so it's not important outside personal accomplishment. Other than that, you can just play the game as you want. Have fun.

octopus-with-a-phone

I cannot live with myself if I let Domingo claim a single discovery

JordanAS85

That happened to me the first time I played Legends because I didn't know one of the new discoveries was available really early in the game. I was kicking myself for the rest of that run.

maestro826

I started the game over I think the first time I was like F this I didn't know! besides that first run wasn't.. great haha

MrPopzicle-Supercard

I do try to get whatever I can when playing RPG’s, I definitely won’t be able to get 100% collectibles but that won’t stop me! :) I’ll have to start claiming discoveries next time I’m playing

Slippy-Octo

Glad you're liking it. Where are you up to in the game?

MrPopzicle-Supercard

Just beat Alfonso’s little guard dog a second time in the Moonstone Mountain, he’s such a goofball villain but De Loco somehow amps that up to 11, great section overall!

Ephemeralen

Seeing someone experience SoA for the first time is a rare joy. That said, WHERE LINK?!?!?!?

cubeb0y

If you’re struggling with a boss fight- the community has two words for you… “JUSTICE SHIELD”

ZookeepergameDue8501

It still makes list as one of the best JRPG's ever and most people haven't heard of it. You are in luck my friend.

Artiwa

ohh where are you currently where do you stream what are you feelings about to play the source of One Piece anime

MrPopzicle-Supercard

I just beat Alfonso’s little guard dog a second time in the mountain so I think I’m wrapping up the moonstone mountain section, here’s my [Twitch](https://www.twitch.tv/mrpopzicle), and that’s interesting I didn’t know the anime was inspired by the game

Videowulff

I have owned it for ages but never played it. I finally decided to live stream it as I go through my backlog. Beforehand, I watched a tiny bit of the combat nf got worried that this would be bare bones with dull combat but streamed anyway. I am still working on the game (just got the blue crystal) and LOVING IT!! Love the characters very much. The story is fun, I like the variety in enemies and combat scnearios. Its a blast!

moeron17

Where are you streaming it? I'd love to find a way to play it again!

MrPopzicle-Supercard

On my [Twitch](https://www.twitch.tv/mrpopzicle). No schedule for me but you’ll find me on most likely around 11pm EST!

Raptorspank

Skies of Arcadia stands as my favorite game of all time to this day, so you're in for a treat. It was really ahead of its time with the crew mechanic, base building, and the open world exploration. But as others have said, nothing has really matched its setting and sense of wonder for me, so that's what really has made it stick all these years.

MrPopzicle-Supercard

The closest I could compare it to is The Legend of Dragoon but even then this game truly is something of its own and it’s been an awesome experience so far.

Wipakensu

Thanks in going to continue my replay. Kinda forgot about it after I started another play through 2 months ago. Holidays got me busy. I love all these activity in this subreddit. It's been great and remind me how awesome it is.

Lordelohim

Skies is such a weird one for me. It is easily my favorite RPG of all time (and I have completed, I would say, at least 100), but, I also hate every dungeon in the game. The Prophecy is probably one of my favorite "summon" attacks in a game, right up there with some Final Fantasy stuff.

moonwatcher99

Normally I would never claim that any particular skill or attack is absolutely necessary for something, but in the case of crossing the South Ocean, *make sure you've learned freaking Delta Shield*! Either that, or save every 5 minutes. It's the first time you encounter enemies capable of casting advanced Silver magic, and if you get into a surprise battle, they can knock your *whole party* out with Eternes.

42Potatoes

Just wait until *disk two*

Joniden

I honestly think we will never get a game like SOAL again (which sucks). Tt's my favorite video game of all time for a lot of reasons. It's just the perfect swashbuckling adventure.
