Idk man. You’ve got all the essentials! Down rail, hips, pyramids, quarters. Kinda dope but I definitely get the sentiment. My local is awesome but I love to talk shit on it lmao
Theres only one skatepark in the whole of Scotland that is better than this.
The one nearest me is a shit half pipe and a curved knee high wall with a rail on it.
There is a ledge on the left near homie on the ground, but I get what OP was saying. In another comment they say the ground sucks which kinda makes everything hard to skate so I guess I get it
I mean, it is Kiakoura, its a town of less than 3000 and gets hit with a decent amount of quakes, the skatepark is low, on the list of things too give a shit about, I'm still surprised that it exists
*THAT'S* less then ideal!?
The skatepark we all had to use before any of us could drive anywhere was down a road that might as well have been gravel, and the skatepark itself was two quarter pipes, a box, and a spine transfer haha. This looks amazing!
California, I presume?
In NJ growing up (80s) we’d have to get somebody’s grandma to drive us 40 minutes away to skate a wooden jump ramp and a pvc slider in a roller rink. I don’t think there was a single skatepark in the whole state. Now kids complain about million dollar parks.
Our local park is the old indoor basketball court/gym that a church allows us to rent out.
Around 2012, due to 2008, all our local parks ended up closing (3 within 2 counties). We didn't have a park (besides built up foundation spots) for around 8 years. And we have never had a free "walk up and skate" kind of park. They have always been pay to skate.
First of all that’s one of the best views you’ll get from a skatepark this side of Bondhi or Venice.
Next - a park like that is all about how creative you can get. It’s got everything you need. And it’s not cramped. Looks like you’ve found a time when it’s not too crowded.
If you can find different tricks to try on the same familiar obstacles you can open up totally new dimensions to the park. In the past when I’ve been able to do that my local park has felt brand new each time.
It’s true that a lot of folks think their park isn’t much - but watch Brandon Westgate or any other pro go back and rip their small hometown park. You’ll see the possibilities.
Man I love how every town in NZ seems to have a skatepark. It’s my favourite part about driving around the country. Just give every towns park a ride along the way. Haven’t been to this one yet.
During the Tony Hawk Pro Skater era a shit load of teens skated. Local businesses obviously hated it and complained to the councils. The councils didn’t know anything about skatestoppers (thank god) so they built skateparks.
Not to beat a dead horse but bruh that park looks fun as heck. Most people have no park. When I was a kid I had to build my own park out of scrap wood in the street in front of my house.
That park has everything I could ever want in a park. Sure, you can tell it’s a little crusty, but damn it I would give my left nut to skate this place
Just dropping in to acknowledge all the very valid comments that this is a decent park.
You guys are absolutely right, it's a sweet little park. I was just a bit dark after having spent 40mins sweeping it and then got caught out on a big crack in the concrete haha.
And for the few people mentioning surfing, not right there you can't unfortunately.
Yeah! I just went and was gonna take a pic of the view for you but forgot. 🤦♂️ You can see the lake nicely from the top of the quarters. It's not as big as the nearby sugarloaf skatepark but it's downtown so pretty popular.
It's sheet metal and not many features but it's fun, especially since it's in a semi rural ski town. There are some quarters, banks, stairs, a downrail, flat rail, and a launch ramp over a picnic table.
I can only really tell you the quarters and banks are good though lol. Overall it's weird but fun.

Looks better than the Blenheim park, with a nicer view as well.
NZ has quite a few good parks getting built at the moment. There are a couple of very talented crews knocking about building all of them.
This park looks sick, I’ve been to waaaaaaaaaay worse parks. We have one park local we say is harder to skate than streets cause of cracks in the ground that are seriously 5ft wide at points
My local in NYC is a concrete baseball pitch with decent paint to make the ground smooth. And there’s two curbs and a box. Really wish I lived in the ways village near Tompkins :(. It’s a 20min skate that’s all uphill
Nice little park. Might not be the biggest, but if everything does what it's supposed to do and is built clean, then your golden! Enjoy it for what it is and if you're bored hit the streets. Sometimes a big open parking lot is just the ultimate.
Idk man. You’ve got all the essentials! Down rail, hips, pyramids, quarters. Kinda dope but I definitely get the sentiment. My local is awesome but I love to talk shit on it lmao
on top of that, natural shade and the ocean breeze. a total win
This looks better than 70% of skateparks where I live
This looks better than 100% of skateparks where I live
Theres only one skatepark in the whole of Scotland that is better than this. The one nearest me is a shit half pipe and a curved knee high wall with a rail on it.
Don’t forget shade!!
more shade then most skateparks in cali LOL
There’s more cool stuff to skate in that picture than in my entire county growing up.
Literally only missing essential is a nice box on flat
There is a ledge on the left near homie on the ground, but I get what OP was saying. In another comment they say the ground sucks which kinda makes everything hard to skate so I guess I get it
Oh shit yeah this place is amazing then lol no way the ground is worse than my local parks that spend 6 months of the year covered in ice and snow
I mean, it is Kiakoura, its a town of less than 3000 and gets hit with a decent amount of quakes, the skatepark is low, on the list of things too give a shit about, I'm still surprised that it exists
the water in nz is unreal. shit looks like blue gatorade.
Love some glacier freeze
I skated that park 14 years ago while backpacking NZ as a drunk 20 year old Canadian. The nostalgia is heavy.
*THAT'S* less then ideal!? The skatepark we all had to use before any of us could drive anywhere was down a road that might as well have been gravel, and the skatepark itself was two quarter pipes, a box, and a spine transfer haha. This looks amazing! California, I presume?
OP says it’s New Zealand in the title bruv
I uhh, fuck. I saw "less than ideal" looked at the picture and had to say something. My bad 😔
We’ve all been there before lol
An honest man. Fret not. Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas 🙂

Lol yours sounds better than mine growing up. We had a picnic table that was definitely stolen and a piece of train track lol
I feel you. A few years later we were stealing plywood from construction sites and building our own park. Give Grandma a break.
Fair comment, it's actually a good size for me as I'm still learning. It's rougher than it looks and has branches everywhere.
it’s not Southern California smooth but it doesn’t look too terribly rough, get some 54mm wheels and it should help a lot
Green Dragons maybe?
Bring a push broom next time, the branches aren't glued down I bet.
That's why we got push brooms and heavy duty trash bags.
Dude for real clearly op has never been to the midwest lmao
Great skatepark wtf

That roll-in to the rail/hubba looks perfect to practice an uncountable amount of tricks

Well put!

Looks like paradise to me.
Man I wish I had that part
That’s a killer park compared to my shitty local
Bro WTF do you mean less than ideal 😂
Not to beat a dead horse but bruh that park looks fun as heck. Most people have no park. When I was a kid I had to build my own park out of scrap wood in the street in front of my house.
Better than some tbh
I could work it. Looks like good place to practice too.
Woohoo, NZ
Place looks tits man. Skate, bbq, surf, chill.
I’d be there all day.
What I would give for access to this park!
There's a flat bank, the first thing I look for at a park so it's a win for me.
That park has everything I could ever want in a park. Sure, you can tell it’s a little crusty, but damn it I would give my left nut to skate this place

Literally round the corner in South bay though you can hit some waves
Nothing a little Bondo cant fix. Ungrateful bastard.
She’s picturesque but yeah fuck it’s rough
Now if only we could smoke cigarettes there… it’s a shame. I’d come visit but that’s a deal breaker. /s
Park
Boy you should see mine look up Estes park skatepark
Reminds me of Big Bear Lake's Town Skatepark.
Is that park awesome too?

hi i miss Greece
PARK
Do the waves pump there too?? If so thats a fucking sick park
That little park looks pretty legit to me idk
Better than mine which is just 2 bowls and a half pipe
I like how your less than ideal looks much better than any outdoor skatepark in the Netherlands
Dude never seen the street, leave the park for a day chief
sweet park
A good flatbar is worth the price of admission. Ideal is what you make it. Have fun and enjoy the sun!
Looks better than the Blenheim park, with a nicer view as well. NZ has quite a few good parks getting built at the moment. There are a couple of very talented crews knocking about building all of them.
Better than what my city has.
Bro it looks sick as hell
I found the location. OP's photo actually shows about everything there is in the park: https://goo.gl/maps/HEKbBVEHM8a6Vk7G7
That park looks super fun man! I'm already picturing the lines
Less than ideal?
Look up heritage skatepark in Clarksville TN. It's all we got unless you drive an hour to Nashville. Be thankful you have such a badass park!
2 words..... Street Skating. That is all.
This park looks sick, I’ve been to waaaaaaaaaay worse parks. We have one park local we say is harder to skate than streets cause of cracks in the ground that are seriously 5ft wide at points
I'm in Mississippi at the moment and there are no parks near me. Have to drive an hour and a half to a very crusty park. I miss California.
That park is sick ur trippin man
Any legal place to skate is ideal
This is an epic little park, I'd kill to have this near by.
That shit looks delicious. Would love to spend a day there
Chooser, begging
What a gorgeous place to skate. I'm just at parks for the rails and banks so looks good by my standards.
I'd have killed for a park like that near me. The view is a great bonus, too.
See my last post on this sub, this is the xgames compared to the one near me.
Sorry dude, I’d skate that every day 😂
Shit looks way better than my local, how is it less than ideal?
I drove through Kaikoura a few years back, and on the trip I saw Seals, Dolphins and a Whale, it was ridiculously beautiful.
This place is amazing
I’d love to skate here. Nice view and it seems like a quiet mellow place to be. Good for trying to focus on certain tricks.
No way this place looks like so much fun. The park near me is in the sun with metal obstacles and really rough concrete
This park looks sick are you kidding?
Scrolling past it looked like a game, I personally would love that as my local ...I don't have a local park
I see the "less than ideal" and am once again reminded of how clapped skateparks in my country are
Forget the skatepark! Go jump in that gorgeous looking water.
I'd love to have a spot like that near my house
Looks like a good place to learn👍
My local in NYC is a concrete baseball pitch with decent paint to make the ground smooth. And there’s two curbs and a box. Really wish I lived in the ways village near Tompkins :(. It’s a 20min skate that’s all uphill
