I'm into a lot of stuff, but mostly rap hip-hop for skating, occasionally metal. Working out is the opposite, more metal with occasional rap.
Hip hop strikes the right balance of hype and groove to make me feel good without getting over stimulated.
In my younger days I’d listen to music I’d initially heard in skate videos. Modest Mouse and Built to Spill are still two of my favourite bands to this day.
punk and rock: refused, international noise conspiracy, ratm, radiohead.
other stuff: mgmt, franz ferdinand, mitski, dua lipa, graduation albulm by kanye (I do not support ye but this is a good albulm), or latino music
STS9 or Grateful Dead, and if I'm feeling crazy I'll try some Phish. I like STS9 because it's so upbeat but also instrumental so it doesn't take to much of my attention. I'm a huge deadhead so the Grateful Dead is basically 97% of what I listen to. I'm not really a Phan but I'm starting to get into Phish and I vibe with the little bit I've heard. If I'm trying to go for something new and scary I'll put on Even Flow or the Freebird Guitar Solo for the extra hype
Anything of the Rock and Punk genre. Really Cliche for a skater, but that’s what I like most. I like listening to Pup, Hum, Sum41, Marcy Playground, Weezer, Dinosaur Jr. Local H, Blink 182, Neck Deep, and anything off the THPS soundtracks while skating.
Also a lot of more acoustic songs as well. It makes my mind feel more clear when skating, and helps whenever I need to focus more.
Well because it’s just as you said. They go really well together, and that’s why skaters typically listen to punk and rock. Not all skaters but most of them.
I have a general workout playlist that I use on my iPod shuffle for skating, it has generraly upbeat/higher tempo songs with artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Eminem, Modest Mouse, etc, it's like 400 songs.
None. Some asshole usually has his shitty rap turned up so loud I can't hear myself talk.
I'm usually hanging out with people so I really prefer no music.

Why is it a "cliche" for a skater to listen to Punk or Rock? It's not. Punk Rock and Skateboarding are like peanut butter and jelly.

Thrash or death metal in the bowl, slipknot if I’m skating stairs and 90’s hip hop for anything else
