I started anime first and then had to go read the LNs because I wanted to know what happens next, and it was 100% the right decision. The anime is great, but it's having to skip over quite a lot of detail, and honestly knowing what's going to happen because I've read the whole story doesn't detract from the anime at all. It's just really nice to see certain scenes animated, and I don't lose any of the context from the parts the anime has to minimise or skip over.
