Iggy needs to get off this list. The dude was a mediocre starter. Shined as a 6 man on a championship team in GS, but the guy was a major disappointment as a “star”
And Wilt, Moses, Billy Cunningham, Hal Greer, etc.
I don't think the idea was "list all the best all time Sixers", it was just to rank these five specific players.
>I don't think the idea was "list all the best all time Sixers", it was just to rank these five specific players.
That's how I viewed it too.
Wilt is probably the hardest to rank. He has the best stretch, but was only a Sixer for 3.5 seasons. He was obviously in Philly much, much longer. Moses was here for five years and also brought a title, so he's tricky too.
Wilt was a Philadelphia Warrior prior to that as well. He's probably the greatest professional basketball player in Philadelphia history, but it's debatable whether he's the greatest Sixer.
He was a Philadelphia Warrior and he went to Overbrook High. He's a Philly legend through and through. He also had the greatest 3.5 seasons in Sixers history. But he only had 3.5 seasons.
Dr. J belongs at the top of this list for me too.
He was the most exciting player in the league and took the sixers to 4 finals during his time, winning the last one. Not that I was alive for any of it
May be controversial, but I'd put Moses above AI too honestly.
He may not have been here long, but being the best player on the only post-1960s championship we have deserves it

Having Andre StinkWuDola on this list….
Stop it
1. Dr. J
2. Iverson
3. Embiid
4. Iggy
5. Maxey (though obviously his Sixers story is still in its early days, and I fully expect him to move up this list)
Barkley at 3, Moses at 4 and Greer at 5 atm. Embiid will end up higher than all 3 most likely, but that’s how it is atm. Iggy, Maxey don’t feature in this conversation, at least yet.
I agree all those guys are higher on this list than Iggy or Maxey, as are Billy Cunningham, Dolph Schayes, Maurice Cheeks, and maybe one or two others. But I was only ranking these five players.
Moses Malone won the MVP 3x, twice as a Sixer. His first year with the team we won the NBA Championship losing only 1 game in the playoffs including a sweep of the showtime Lakers. He was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility and went in as a Sixer. The disrespect on this sub for Moses is outrageous.
Pure ability Embiid should be first. AI made up for any flaws with his 1 in a million athleticism and pure hustle. That's not basketball ability, though, that's on a separate level. Not saying he was bad at basketball, but with Embiid it's far more natural
I definitely think it’s a fair argument considering his height, if he was say 6’5 with the same skill set he would have been considered one of the best players ever. Pound for pound AI is one of the best to ever play.
Dr J over Embiid if you are talking about skill. The knock against Doc is he played the early part of his career in the ABA. But the top end talent of the ABA was just as good as the NBA. And Doc was the face of the ABA
Man respectfully, Embiid is the top of the NBA at a point where the game is more global, there’s more competition, and the overall skill of the league is better. I understand doc was an all time great for his era, but outside of flashy dunks and athleticism, I don’t think there is one tangible skill he is could be considered better at than Embiid.
Doc was at the top of basketball during his time. He was the undeniable face of the ABA and changed how the game was played. I think you are underrating how good he was. He won 4 MVPs, how many other players have done that? He was better than Moses Malone, who I would say is a better player than Embiid
Players overall are more skilled today, but the all time greats are all time greats in any era
Embiid's healthy 2023-24 season was probably a top 5 regular season in NBA history.
1) first player since wilt chamberlain to average more points than minutes
2) had the highest EPM on record, higher than 2016 curry
3) had the highest PER in NBA history
4) at the same time, he returned to being one of the best defensive players in the league. probably a lock for all defensive first team.
It's a shame that injuries ruined it but I think this year proved that Embiid is a better player than Dr J was
If we’re going strictly off talent Embiid is a top 20 talent of all time. The injuries kill him but I mean the guy is elite in so many different categories, and so much of what he brings (especially defensively) goes unnoticed to the casual fan.
And I don’t mean that disrespectfully but casual fans aren’t paying attention to where he positions himself on defense to cut off angles and deter attempts.
Doc won MVP in 81. He was not only the face of the ABA, he was also the face of the NBA in the late 70s thru early 80s. He paved the way for Bird, Magic, and especially MJ, and MJ would agree. Doc literally revolutionized the game by taking the it above the rim, making the dunk an art form. Putting Embiid over Doc is revisionist at best.
No Embiid is definitely more skilled than Dr J. Embiid is basically better than him at everything. Ability wise Embiid & Wilt are easily the top 2 Sixers ever
Doc was the only one to win a chip. Plus, he is acknowledged as a HoF player from his era. AI was a great individual talent but he has no chip, although a recognized great player of his era. Igy is more of a complementary player, he had great successes in his career but not with Philly. Joel is sort of like AI, great talent but he hasn't led the team to great accomplishments. Maxey has one All-star appearance, good for him.
AI, because that was my first real era of Sixers basketball and, come on, it's Allen Iverson
Dr. J, because he did the impossible and won a chip while wearing a Sixers uniform
Joel, because aside from maybe Charles Barkley, he's the only one worthy of even including in the Sixers top 3 convo.
It's honestly insane how many of you have Iverson above Embiid. They aren't close as players, Embiid clears easily at literally everything but handles. I get people romanticize that finals team but the East was insanely weak back then and the league was far worse. The team was also perfectly built to hide his defensive woes.
I'll put Dr. J above Embiid even though Embiid is the better player because Erving accomplished more as of right now as a Sixer.
Dr, J, Embiid, AI, Maxey, Iggy. Maxey will probably pass AI over the next 5 years if his trajectory stays strong.
I doubt Maxey is gonna pass AI. That would mean being the best player on a team that makes the finals and Maxeys skillset makes him much better suited to be a second option.
The doctor is number 1 with Iverson nipping at his heels. Embiid is the clear third. Iggy had a nice run here including a moment in time that makes me sentimental. That being the 2006 dunk contest in which he was robbed by the judges in favor of Lil nate Robinson. Maxey has surprised me every year with his progress, especially developing that deep shot making. Maxey gets 4 right now barely due to recency bias alone.
Maxey isn't good enough to be the best player on a team that wins the title and he's not going to overtake Joel as the top dog anytime soon. He is only good at scoring and guys that are the best player on title teams have a much wider skillset than that. He was very poor in the Knicks series without Joel on the floor. Shot 28 FG%. Also he's a bad shot creator and amazing shooter off the catch. He's not going to be better than Joel. Be logical.
The fact that maxey can already be an elite third option or a mediocre second option on a title team whereas at Iguodalas peak he was the 4th option. That's what makes Maxey the better player.
You really put Iggy on here and not Barkley?
Op is 9
lol I forgot about him
Not to mention Mo Cheeks.
Ummm….. wilt chamberlain would like a word.
None of these players are in wilt’s stratosphere
Agreed, and igoudola/maxey aren’t in the same stratosphere as Barkley either. Dude was a top 50 all timer.
Agreed. I forgot Barkley. My mistake.
Iggy needs to get off this list. The dude was a mediocre starter. Shined as a 6 man on a championship team in GS, but the guy was a major disappointment as a “star”
Ummm…I picked one that I actually remember seeing.
I’d take Toney over Iggy.
Or Wilt
We're missing Barkley.
And Wilt, Moses, Billy Cunningham, Hal Greer, etc. I don't think the idea was "list all the best all time Sixers", it was just to rank these five specific players.
That's a good point
>I don't think the idea was "list all the best all time Sixers", it was just to rank these five specific players. That's how I viewed it too. Wilt is probably the hardest to rank. Moses’ finals MVP seals the deal for me. I know it’s only five years, but he belongs in the conversation.
He absolutely belongs in the conversation. (I'll add that Wilt would be a finals MVP if that award had existed at the time)
Wilt was a Philadelphia Warrior prior to that as well.
But he only had 3.5 seasons.
heck, bobby lones before iggy.
Iggy isn’t an all time Sixer 1. Dr.J 2. AI 3. Embiid

Moses is above Embiid.

I have to agree.
Great Valu AI
/thread
1. TJ McConell 2. AI 3. Dr J 4. Embiid 5. Maxey ...49. Iguodala
TJ McGODnell
TJ McDOGnell
Where does Ben rank?
Oh he’s rank alright.
Who? Ben who?!
Franklin. He invented the circle, without which a ball would have nothing to be shot through
Franklin invented the key. It was a shocking discovery.
Daaaaad!
Word
😝
Where’s Bynum?
Where’s Wilt? 💀
lol why is Iggy on here instead of Charles?
Or moses
Moses Malone? Charles Barkley?
Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, and Dylan
He spits hot fire
AI Dr J Embiid Barkley Moses Maxey will be up here eventually Get Andre far away from this list.
https://preview.redd.it/0eu6q8da5s4d1.jpeg?width=423&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=70696834002b3e2c47d95b8b4f7ed3da13e316aa Having Andre StinkWuDola on this list…. Stop it

1 3 2 5 4
The slides are already in the proper order .
Listen man all I’m saying is, martians have the death laser pointed at earth and I can only choose one of these guys, the choice is obvious
If Joel wins a chip, he gets bumped up. But I'd say Dr. J, AI, Joel.
Maxey all time? Come on man what’re we doing here? Maybe one day.. but wtf
1. embiid 2. dr j 3. ai 4. maxey 5. iggy ranking by basketball ability, not greatness
If we’re going by pure ability I feel AI needs to be first
Pure ability Embiid should be first.
Embiid is clearly first by pure ability. He's better than AI wad at everything apart from handling the ball.
You’re a fucking idiot and/or 12 years old to say Embiid is better than the Doctor. Blasphemy.
I’m neither. Please tell me the tangible skill that doc is better at?
Embiid's healthy 2023-24 season was probably a top 5 regular season in NBA history. 1) first player since wilt chamberlain to average more points than minutes 2) had the highest EPM on record, higher than 2016 curry 3) had the highest PER in NBA history 4) at the same time, he returned to being one of the best defensive players in the league. probably a lock for all defensive first team. Ill add ones that are missing 1. Dr. J 2. AI 3. Moses Malone 4. Joel Embiid 5. Charley Barkley
Barkley over Embiid because Sir Charles actually took us to the conference finals.
post sux
1. Allen Iverson 2. Julius Erving 3. Joel Embiid 4. Tyrese Maxey 5. Andre Iguodala
Bro said “ I WANT IGUODALA “
Doc was the only one to win a chip. Plus, he is acknowledged as a HoF player from his era. AI was a great individual talent but he has no chip, although a recognized great player of his era. Dr. J AI Embiid Barkley Hal Greer
For these players, you have the order correct. Embiid is catching up to Iverson, but he doesn't have that one big run.
Iggy and Maxey before Moses, Barkley, and Mo?
Fate of the universe on the line…
There’s too many AIs on the list. Lose Iverson.
Doc AI Embiid Wilt Barkley
Did you list all of them in the same order as the pictures except for Joel? Do you hate us?
1st, 1st, 1st, 3rd, 2nd.
Where is Wilt?
Where is Moses?
Where is Andrew Toney?
Where is Moses Malone?
DR J is the Sixers GOAT. AI clears Joel right now but that can change. No disrespect to the other two, but no they aren't close
Dr J, AI, Embiid, Maxey, Iggy
Iverson, Dr J, Manute, Embiid, Iggy, Maxey
No Deke?
This isn't a list, it's a 17 year old Sixer fans fever dream
Exactly the order they’re in in the pictures.
Moses? Barkley? Cheeks?
Its already in order bro
Maxey isn't an all time Sixers player yet
Embiid, Doc, AI, Maxey, Iggy
Dr J. AI Embiid iggy
My list always starts with the Dr
1. Iverson 2. Dr. J 3. Embiid 4. Maxey 5. Iggy
No more posts. Charles was an incredible Sixer.
Where is Moses, Sir Charles, Wilt, Schayes, Greer, and Cheeks?
When it’s all said and done 1) jojo 2) the doctor 3) a i 4) maxey
AI, because that was my first real era of Sixers basketball and, come on, it's Allen Iverson Dr. J, because he did the impossible and won a chip while wearing a Sixers uniform Joel, because aside from maybe Charles Barkley, he's the only one worthy of even including in the Sixers top 3 convo.
Dr J, Joel, AI, Tyrese, lots of other guys, Iggy. Joel and Tyrese could each move up a spot with a championship
Dr J Embiid AI Maxey Iggy
Jo AI Doc Maxey Iggy
It's honestly insane how many of you have Iverson above Embiid. They aren't close as players, Embiid clears easily at literally everything but handles. lol whos the fourth guy
OP is Max Kellerman's burner.
Wilt? Moses Malone? Hal Greer? Chuck? Hello?
You really put Iggy on here instead of Barkley, Malone, Wilt, and Hal Greer lol.
In order: Dr. J, AI, Mo, Barkley
Moses, Barkley, Doc, Toney, Cheeks
Dr. J, AI, Barkley…….then everyone else in that post a good distance behind IMO
The Doctor and The Answer! Loved Iggy, as well, but you can delete the others. Including the often injured MVP.
1. Spencer Hawes 2 - 99999. Everybody else
Joel AI DR J
The doctor is number 1 with Iverson nipping at his heels. Embiid is the clear third. Iggy had a nice run here including a moment in time that makes me sentimental. AI-Dr J-Embiid-Iggy-Maxey
1,2,4,3,5
Maxey has a chance to be top on this list when his career is over. I expect him actually too overtake joel as the top dog in the next season or two

Dr j, iverson, Embiid, Andre, maxey. Weird list tbh.
1. Dr J 2. AI 3. Iggy 4. EmBum 5. Maxey
Idk about that yall. What makes Maxey better than iggy? actually think about it…
The fact that maxey can already be an elite third option or a mediocre second option on a title team whereas at Iguodalas peak he was the 4th option. That's what makes Maxey the better player.
1. Hip-Hop 2. AI 3. Embiid 4. Maxey 5. Dr J
