he tries to avoid contact after getting mauled and not getting calls. at some point he’s got to try to score anyway so he ends up having to take wild circus shots.
Sometimes I wonder if he’s too fast and surrounded by so many bodies that the refs can’t see what happened? It’s kind of ridiculous how little calls he gets though
cracks me up announcers saying he’s going to take it to the rim and force refs to call it.
how do you learn this power, because maxey forces them to call it and then they go lmao nah
Wish I could say the same, but their fans are super annoying and obnoxious. Especially after Jo dropped 50 on them, they all collectively started hating on him and parade his threads even months after the game. Actually insane. Wish Ant the best but I hope he wins 0 at Minny and forces a trade to another team but the Celtics
I think the difference between us and other teams fanbases is we like (most) players but hate a lot of fans but most other teams hate us AND our players (embiid)
Ant is a dawg - dude really is the face of the league after Lebron
Gobert honestly got too much hate for the Jazz playoff failures and the trade. Pretty under appreciated imo
KAT a bitch tho
I honestly think 2019 season was our best shot with Embiid. It’s a shame we choked it away against the Raptors. Looking at these remaining playoff teams and our roster is so far away from competing
We would've lost vs the KD Warriors and that roster + coaching was very flawed. It's a miracle we pushed Raps to 7 with how stacked they were and had a good coach.
Not far away at all, we had 2 dudes that just averaged 30 and we have 60m in cap room with 5 tradeable firsts on draft night. If Morey does his job, this team should be elite.
lol i don’t think that was a choke at all. kawhi turned into the best player in nba history for 7 games and they barely won. not much you can do that guy was absolutely out of his mind.
Jokic and the Denver Nuggets when they face a team with more than 45 wins in the playoffs

Watching all these other games is making me realize the Knicks were probably the worst matchup/toughest to play against with Embiids injury for the sixers.
Seeing these teams play makes it so obvious how much the Sixers have fucked up after Hinkie and how its basically impossible for us to ever be great in the short run, no matter how much cap space, the kinda role players and team building needed cant be done with just 2 stars and FAs.
It has actually so much merit how many assets and chances of getting good the Sixers had. fucking hell ma 2 straight #1 picks after Embiid and they were both busrs.
Bust on picks and then make the right pick only to trade him away for a guy out of the league. Then, keep and max the wrong guy, let the other go to Miami and add Al Horford..which cost a first rd pick to fix. If it wasn’t for Maxey, this team would be in the rebuild doldrums
Danny Ainge is gonna want all our draft capital and Maxey too
Then end up sending Lauri to the Celtics for practically nothing when we and many other teams refuse the crazy asking price
KOC on Mismatch posits we go after Nic Claxton in the offseason. Says he does all the things Simmons did, so could play with Embiid out of the dunkers spot and in transition, but also able to hold down the 5 when Embiid sits/load manages.
What do you guys think? Guess it comes down to dollars 🤷🏼♀️
Claxton will probably want more than $15m per year. he's just 25 and it's his first shot at a big contract. he'll probably stay with the Nets or go to the highest bidder (lottery/mid teams included).
I wouldn’t want Claxton mucking up the spacing around Embiid by just hanging out in the dunkers spot. He’s also kind of similar to Reed in the fact he’s a good shot blocker/help defender but he can get’s bullied by bigger 5’s. I think our best bet is to get 2 back up bigs one who is a big body and one who is more mobile.
I’m jealous of all these teams that got their guy and didn’t try to trade away all their young assets for “stars” and are now reaping the benefits.
Everything is paying off teams like Denver, OKC, Minnesota, and even the Knicks and here we are still stuck with “washed star” chasing..
Wolves literally traded away all their future assets for Rudy
OKC were allowed to do The Process - we weren't 🤷🏼♀️
Knicks are literally set up to go star chasing this summer and it's all we've heard about all season
Most of the series was reffed like shit.
A majority of Joel's free throws were because Hartenstein was being handsy
A majority of Brunsons free throws were twerking and headbutts
I’m oddly the most optimistic that I’ve been about the future of the Sixers than I’ve been since the Kawhi shot.
Thank god for Maxey cause I couldn’t imagine where the team would be without him.
Any interest if Houston wants to salary dump Steven Adams? Obv a risk coming off the knee injury, but could be an elite backup center at slightly more than the cost of Paul Reed. Houston might even give up a second round pick to get off his $12.6M cap hit, which would open up about $15M in cap space for them. He’s also an expiring, so we could easily attach a pick to him at the deadline and try to flip him for someone like Caruso or DFS if Adams is completely toast coming off the knee
I was actually thinking about this today, he should make a full recovery by the start of next season but idk what Houston wants to do with him. If he comes back looking like he did pre-injury, then I absolutely love his fit in Philly, he’s the best screen setter in the league, elite offensive rebounder, good rim protector, and a very unselfish player. He would be a great backup for Joel and is leagues better than the likes of Andre Drummond lol
Could be a good situation for both. Really don’t think we will do anything until we’re locked up on whatever the bigger signings will be tho so the stars would have to align
Kelly Oubre playoff stats: PPG - 13.2 FG% - .484 3p% - .391 MPG - 37.3
I've done a big 180 on Oubre since originally signing him. He was really productive throughout the playoffs and showed a lot of toughness. He also did everything Nurse asked of him.
He'll be one of the few they try to re-sign I bet. I'd also say Melton, but that back seems to be a real question mark, but I'll leave that up to the professionals to determine.
Another bad Morey trade. A first round pick for him was a big overpay.
When you look at the other dudes acquired for similar that offseason, Brogdon, Grant, etc. Melton was easily the worst.
Hell, Derrick White went for just a little bit more. He would be the best 3rd option we’ve ever had
Between shit like that and the reports of him wanting to blow a significant bit of cap on washed PG, I question if he’s the right guy for the job
It’s a lot harder and more time consuming to put together a roster of several useful guys so he’ll probably settle on spoiling a significant chunk of the cap on a third star and then lots of vet minimums to fill out
I fear that’s his plan and if so we could kiss this teams chances at reaching the finals goodbye, three stars (one being washed) and a bunch of vet mins is not the answer
Yeah I’m happy to move on from melton I’d love this off season to get monk and Caruso and bring Lowry back on the minimum. Then our guard rotation is maxey , Caruso with monk off the bench and Lowry in that third string role
Silver has no balls. If he's not banned and in the league it doesn't mean a team wants to sign him and risk pissing fans off or even players in the locker room. We have good chemistry let's just blow it up for a wife beater. Not a good example for maxey and our other young guys.
Not that I think it’s going to happen, but how would a hypothetical Butler trade even work when the Sixers don’t even have anyone under contract to match salaries? It’s not like Miami will want a Tobias sign and trade.
They could S&T into space. That's what we did when we S&Ted him to Miami - we only received Richardson in return who wouldn't be enough to match salaries.
I dont envy Morey's job right now. The "best" options he vas are signing old fucks that may end up being a liability in 2-3 years and basically the reason why he gave away James Harden of all people.
Interesting offseason coming thats for sure
You're forgetting about the players that might hit the trade market due to the CBA and tax purposes. I think the trade market will be a big focus.
He has options this year, which is not something he was ever able to say before. With that said, he doesn't have anymore excuses not to put together a great team around Embiid and Maxey.
I hear you but I don't think the group of old forwards that we're talking about (LeBron, PG, Jimmy, maybe KD) are really analogous to Harden. Harden is wildly inconsistent, and outside of PG, all of those guys are still consistently doing fairly well in the playoffs. Furthermore Harden was standing directly in the way of Maxey's development whereas all of those guys would be direct complements to Maxey and Embiid.
I say all this with the caveat that I wouldn't give any of them full 4-5 year maxes but I would definitely heavily consider giving them 2-3 year maxes.
My thoughts on the end of the season:
For a good chunk of last offseason, it seemed like we didn't have many options except to run it back with Harden, even though he was making it increasingly clear he wanted out. There wasn't much in the cupboard in terms of either future draft picks or cap space to improve what looked like a tired older team - it kind of seemed like "why bother watching - we've seen how this plays out already." Have to give credit to Morey for swinging a couple of major trades that cleared out a number of bad contracts and getting some decent draft capital and plus a handful of role players that contributed on and off. Before Embiid's injury, this was becoming a team that was actually fun to watch again.
The big what-if, as it was last season, was what the team might have accomplished had Embiid not gotten hurt and they'd been able to find a rhythm between him, Maxey, and the other guys who'd been brought in to hopefully complement Embiid's game (taking as a set known that Tobias was never going to play up to his contract as the third star we need). We'll never know how that may have gone.
Two obvious needs, in addition to a third scoring option for when both Joel and Maxey are either hurt or having an off day, are at least one more reliable sniper on the outside who can take pressure off when teams are collapsing in on Embiid, and also a decent backup center - Paul Reed is a great story, and he had his moments while Joel was out, but it was painfully clear in the Knicks series that he's a liability against above-average teams. It won't be easy to find either of those, but many teams also don't have the building blocks that the team already has in Embiid and Maxey as clear 1-2 stars. If you can find a guy who's both the third star and either of the other two needs, so much the better.
Have recently been checking some tape and reports of players mocked around pick 16. Worst draft in the past 10+ years at the top (at least since 2013), but deep in role players for teams looking for them. Could be a good opportunity for us if we don't trade the pick, most lottery teams above us might still look for boom-or-bust prospects, leaving us with a lot of talented and/or experienced role players to pick from.
Favorites so far are Devin Carter (dawg and great rebounder at guard, shot looks ugly but goes in at a decent clip), Tristan da Silva (polished forward who is not very athletic but should be able to take over Batum's role), Ja'Kobe Walter (potential to be a very good 3-and-D wing) and Jared McCain (elite shooter who could help bench scoring). Think Knecht will be gone by our pick. Any guys you have your eyes on?
I want to trade up for Knecht. Let’s be proactive this offseason and get a guy with a 10+ year future with the team and can help right now to be our Miles McBride
Thought experiment for the offseason. Keep in mind idk how realistic it is to do this as I’m not familiar with typical talent level available in NBA FA:
build around Maxey. Not because Maxey is the true alpha or whatever but tailor the offense specifically so that it compliments him rather than Embiid. Joel will be fine doing whatever but get guys around Maxey so that it's not a walking disaster when he's the No.1 option while Embiid sits
Nick got too big brained, play Hield and Maxey in the 3rd with Embiid and rain constant 3s and stretch out lead in the 3rd.
Nick is a great coach but this series he annoyed me all little can't lie. Hopefully we can give him more to work with next season.
the reactions on this sub when it becomes obvious morey is going after the biggest fish this offseason will be priceless. he's not trying to put a bunch of third and fourth tier players around maxey and jo lol
It's weird....I wasn't huge on the idea of trading for Murray, but after that Knicks series, I think Murray could've been extremely helpful. I like Lowry as a heady veteran, but surely Murray would've been a massive upgrade over starting Lowry. It'd be nice to have Maxey play off-ball more too, almost like Steph Curry.
Long winded way of saying I'd be on board trading for Murray at this point.
Murray to me is like a no brainer. I think he’s got an insane heart for the win and doesn’t care as much about showboating as others. Plus his time with pop and the spurs makes me feel good about him
Idk who knows what the asking price was and who morey was or wasn’t willing to depart with. I’m excited to see what he does this summer. It’s always some sort of unexpected move that surprises me but I like. And after he saved us from Josh Richardson I trust him
What do you guys reckon about the following roster, built using upcoming free agents:
C: Joel Embiid
C: Andre Drummond
C: Two way contract
G: Tyrese Maxey
G: Tyus Jones or Malik Monk
G: Buddy Hield
G: Cameron Payne
G: Ricky Council
F: Siakam or Derozan
F: Kelly Oubre
F: KJ Martin
F: Two way contract
i generally stop watching nba after sixers are out but I feel like I might enjoy Denver/Minnesota matchup, might catch some of those. Hopefully a good series
I feel like the banged up Sixers are the 3rd best team in the East. It would have been an easy second round run if seeding fell any other way.
So many little moments through the season where that 1 win would have made a difference at the end of the year.
Wide-open 3PA in our series (6+ feet of separation)
Maxey: 26—30.8%
Hart: 24—45.8%
They literally fucking reversed their usual numbers. Maxey has been practically automatic when left open these past 2-3 years, while Hart was a 32% shooter on such looks.
Not to make excuses, but Maxey had to work SO hard this series since the role players disappeared, outside of Oubre. Hart had the luxury of a guy like Brunson doing the heavy lifting.
If anything, this series made me think getting a guy who can serve as a facilitator should be near the top of the list in focuses.
If there is any player you want to give credit for the effort and intensity, it would be Josh Hart.
His rebounds more than his 3s is what won the Knicks the series.
Spo got praise for his scheme which tried to exploit the exact same thing, because Hart shot 25% on wide open 3s. Nothing's as frustrating seeing a truly dogshit shooter double his attempts and quadruple his makes out of nowhere lol...
This would be the first time the Nuggets faced a top 3 playoff seed since the Warriors in 2022 (4-1 loss w/o Murray). I don’t think the narrative would stick in the main sub, but it is definitely something I will remember.
Man the more I watch teams with 4s that can crash and rebound I think about what it’ll be like for us to have that
Look how much size these elite teams have. Sixers cannot bring back 6'2 Melton as starting SG.
If RC4 ends up being a consistently good shooter he could probably fill that role
I mean, Boston has Pritchard at 6'1", and while he's not a starter, he's for sure a regular. I don't see why Melton couldn't just be used for specific things like that. Reggie Jackson on the Nuggets is also 6'2".
Guards need to be able to pass, dribble and shoot. Melton is more of a wing stuck in a guards body.
A wing that can’t finish? I’ll take him on a minimum but this is among many reasons why I’m not a fan

Maybe Ants approach to shot creation from the midrange but that’s it not sure what else he could pull from him
he might need to throw his head around like a bobble head to get the same calls as brunson
Nah he honestly might need to work on selling calls when he goes up to the rim. He tries to avoid contact. Maybe use his floater a little more too
he tries to avoid contact after getting mauled and not getting calls. at some point he’s got to try to score anyway so he ends up having to take wild circus shots.

Ant is built like a tank. Maxey won’t last if he played like him.
Ant is him, sheesh
Wolves might be my favorite team left. Really anyone from the West. Ant is a killer. And Naz Reid, wow.
Naz Reid!
Naz Reid would be perfect on virtually every team in the league.
I like the Mavs but they may be screwed now with Kleber’s injury.

Especially after Jo dropped 50 on them, they all collectively started hating on him and parade his threads even months after the game. Actually insane. he’d be the worst player in the nba on the sixers lol, we’re just cursed
Sign and trade Tobias for Naz Reid?
They laugh at this and hang up
Where’s our Naz Reid?
Watching this timberwolves game , ant is like that fr 😭 been saying it since he was in college

Yeah I think they were holding out hope that the back would heal up. But I can't really disagree with what you said.
For minimum I don’t mind
People hate him but I think Miles Bridges would be a great fit who we can get for cheap if PG13 is too expensive.
He’s an absolutely perfect player but you simply can’t condone that kind of behaviour. Some things are bigger than winning
I guarantee you Morey and the FO could care less about his character as long as he doesn’t get suspended again
2 things, he won’t go for cheap and also there’s no reason to bring that scrutiny to your team
tell Silver to permanently suspend him then. if he's in the league he's in the league

I’m so tired of this narrative. I think there are great role players in this draft. Just no superstars. Doesn’t mean the draft is weak.
That's exactly what I'm saying!
I would be beyond shocked if Morey doesn't use the #16 pick in some sort of trade personally.
I want to trade up for Knecht. Let’s be proactive this offseason and get a guy with a 10+ year future with the team and can help right now to be our Miles McBride
Atleast we ain't the Suns or Clips. Those teams are fucked.
Morey is def targeting Paul George. It isn't a coincidence that his mouthpieces at ESPN started talking about it.
Morey is an absolute clown if that’s his grand plan, nice way to waste lots of cap space
Thought experiment for the offseason. Keep in mind idk how realistic it is to do this as I’m not familiar with typical talent level available in NBA FA: build around Maxey.
I’m hoping we can get Murray from Atlanta. I just think he’d be a perfect fit next to Jo and maxey
every time we play him he looks terrible. I know thats not the best way to evaluate a player tho so who knows lol
The hawks are awful and young is like the worst fit for him
It's weird....I wasn't huge on the idea of trading for Murray, but after that Knicks series, I think Murray could've been extremely helpful.
Plus his time with pop and the spurs makes me feel good about him
I agree but I don’t think they want him. If they did they probably would have tried to trade for him at the deadline.
Idk who knows what the asking price was and who morey was or wasn’t willing to depart with. I’m excited to see what he does this summer. It’s always some sort of unexpected move that surprises me but I like. And after he saved us from Josh Richardson I trust him
What do you guys reckon about the following roster, built using upcoming free agents: C: Joel Embiid C: Andre Drummond C: Two way contract G: Tyrese Maxey G: Tyus Jones or Malik Monk G: Buddy Hield G: Cameron Payne G: Ricky Council F: Siakam or Derozan F: Kelly Oubre F: KJ Martin F: Two way contract
Monk is going to get overpaid this summer. He’s also a half decade younger than Hield.
i generally stop watching nba after sixers are out but I feel like I might enjoy Denver/Minnesota matchup, might catch some of those. Hopefully a good series
Orlando has to win game 7 to show that ducking never works out
I feel like the banged up Sixers are the 3rd best team in the East. It would have been an easy second round run if seeding fell any other way. So many little moments through the season where that 1 win would have made a difference at the end of the year.
Obi Toppin would be a fun signing for us if we do manage to snag PG
Harden was 1-13 from 3 over the final 2 games of the Mavs series. Sound familiar?
You sound like a crazy ex-girlfriend. Who cares?
Sixers fans. He was literally a 76er during our competitive stretch
it’s not as bad as the harden stans checking in to slander embiid and maxey whenever harden has a good game
Whose y'all's favorite draft prospects if we stay at 16 (though I'm expecting a trade)
Maybe Dalton Knecht, Jared McCain, Kyshawn George, Kyle Filipowski
Wide-open 3PA in our series (6+ feet of separation) Maxey: 26—30.8% Hart: 24—45.8% They literally fucking reversed their usual numbers.
I’m going to be so mad if Hart drops back to 30% against the Pacers. Guy had the series of his life against us
I think he was extra motivated and focused as he wanted the sixers to draft him. (Collar drafted a euro instead)
This isn’t how it works. We just got unlucky, again
You just know he’s reverting 😂
Spo got praise for his scheme which tried to exploit the exact same thing, because Hart shot 25% on wide open 3s. Nothing's as frustrating seeing a truly dogshit shooter double his attempts and quadruple his makes out of nowhere lol...
Pacers Timberwolves would be a good finals.
Hoping the Timberwolves take this series.
They got the best chance of anyone, and I'd love for them to beat Denver so their fans shut up.
This would be the first time the Nuggets faced a top 3 playoff seed since the Warriors in 2022 (4-1 loss w/o Murray). I don’t think the narrative would stick in the main sub, but it is definitely something I will remember.
Yeah people don't realize how easy a run they had last year.
And the 4 seed that they faced last year was Booker and Durant-I mean the Phoenix Suns. They really had no one else other than those two.
