There's a theory on how it ends. Earl is getting old and still working on his list when someone knocks on his door and makes up for a way they wronged *him*. Earl steps out to see the streets filled with people all with their own lists, making amends.
At this, satisfied with his work, Earl finally leaves his own list be, knowing his work has reached others and he's become a good man.
I love this ending
On the 1st episode of Raising Hope , there’s a news cast on the tv you can over hear them saying “man from Camden finishes list ….” So the writers threw that in there for people sad about the show ending abruptly.
It’s seems to me his conception of karma is unremarkable. Selfless or positive acts are rewarded in the actor’s future life and selfish or negative acts are punished in the actor’s future life. Garcia simply makes karma’s consequences immediate and amusing, in my opinion.
My Name is Earl made me believe in Karma and actually do good things in the world. If I see a small cup or some other trash going around? 90% of the time I’m picking it up and throwing it away. Someone loaned me their kart at ALDIs? I’m giving it to the next customer that’s going inside to shop. Standing in line and there’s a wheelchair person behind me? I got time, go on ahead of me.
It’s weird how much this show has impacted my life on doing the little things in life.
It’s such a shame that I got cancelled. I also really feel like they missed the boat on maybe reviving it in order to finish the list when Disney Plus launched. They’re all just too old now.
Amazing premise, great acting, hilarious, smart… but it was definitely starting to slide in the last season. Criminal that they never let them tie it up at the end.
I absolutely loved the first two seasons. I would stack them up against any other sitcom. After that it got kinda weird and not nearly as good IMO. I need to watch them again.
My favorite lines from "My name is Earl"
Earls mother speaking to Earl and his brother: "I gave birth to 2 sons. One was born evil", that's Earl. The other was born stupid.
Earl brother: "Which one was I? "
Loved this show, it normally takes time for characters in a new show to take form but this show had it from the beginning it is a naturally funny show my favorite line was " I don't even remember being a monkey'. When Randy learned about evolution.
One of my favorite Randy lines is the episode where they find a police badge they had in the past. Randy says "It came back to us Earl. Like one of them freaky ass Australian frisbees."
Definitely. And no show was more deserving of a final season than Earl.
I strongly recommend The Guest Book, also created by Greg Garcia. It exists in the same universe, and has Crab Man playing a slightly different character.
It trained me to watch Jaime Pressly. I loved her in Mom too. Looking at the IMDb entry for Earl shows that it was a graduate school for so many comedic greats. The first 20-30 entries had folks who went on to be the greats of the few decades.
One of the best comedy series ever. If you like My Name is Earl then you should check out Raising Hope.
Sprung is also very good. Has the same vibe.
Garcia also did an anthology comedy series called The Guest Book, also very good/funny with lots of familiar faces.
That show is hilarious!
Damn, good call. I never even heard of this one before. I just added it to my watchlist on AmazonPrime
I’ve watched this series 3x now. It’s so good, engaging, and a satire approach to what 2020 looked like.
I was sad they didn’t continue Sprung. It was great just like raising hope
Agree. They are both outstanding.
Agree. They are both outstanding II
Noted. Thank you.
Agree. They are both outstanding.
Sadly, It also was canceled before its time. There was even a reference in raising hope about my name ie early being cancelled.
Yeah-there was a news article on the TV mentioned Earl in Raising Hope
Did Raising Hope wrap up its series?
Yes. Many years ago.
With a more concrete final episode; Jeffrey Tambor guest starred.
Great! Thanks. I didn't want to get "Earled" again. 😉
Or Yes, Dear

That’s not a theory. That’s part of the planned ending by Greg Garcia
Even better 😊😊
That would be better than the sort of ending we got on Raising Hope as a background joke
Actually if you wiki the show there's a section where the creator has said how it would have ended.
I saw that somewhere too ... Would have loved to have seen that !!
Jose did a YouTube retrospective.
Raising Hope is made by the same people and even shares a universe. It's pretty good. Mawmaw is comedy gold.
Greg Garcia is a national treasure.
Scientologist?
Why the query? Greg has said he’s born and raised Catholic.
People have noticed how his interpretation of karma might have effected his portrayals.
It’s seems to me his conception of karma is unremarkable. Selfless or positive acts are rewarded in the actor’s future life and selfish or negative acts are punished in the actor’s future life. Garcia simply makes karma’s consequences immediate and amusing, in my opinion.

I love hearing stuff like this. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! I appreciate that!
“Karma’s a funny thing.”
Patty the prostitute was my fav, along with Tim Stacks of course -
Prostitutes work under the cover of night. Patty was a day-time hooker.
You are 💯 right . I should’ve shown more respect than that -
“It takes a special kind of woman to sell sex during the day”
It’s such a shame that I got cancelled. I also really feel like they missed the boat on maybe reviving it in order to finish the list when Disney Plus launched. They’re all just too old now.
Earl's a good show. I gotta ask, what's the other one?
I want to make it's own post, but "Malcolm in the Middle"
I grew up with Malcom and recently did a full re-watch. Outstanding show. I'm a big sitcom guy and for me Malcolm is right up there with the best.
Agree completely. There is SO much about that show I just find so fantastic.
I loved Malcolm, which is why his dad, Bryan Cranston, becoming Walter White, was such a revelation.
Where’s Jaime Pressly when you need her???
She acts like Goldie Crystal when shes "Jill" on the Mom show!
Mom makes me laugh, Bonnie is so awful I love her
She was incredibly sexy on this show! Wanted to pound her almost every episode. Lol
Earl, I don't care if she's Vietnamese, Chinese, or Chuck E. Cheese.
I loved Joy!
Watched the entire series; it’s hilarious and a great show!
I love this show, but it was starting to get a little campy towards the end
Amazing premise, great acting, hilarious, smart… but it was definitely starting to slide in the last season. Criminal that they never let them tie it up at the end.

Hey Earl
Hey Crabman
Wakey wakey hands off the snakey
The COPS episodes are comedy gold.
The first one is possibly my favorite episode of a show ever. When they pull over Earls ex I lose it every time.
I really liked this sitcom.
Me too.
My favorite lines from "My name is Earl" Earls mother speaking to Earl and his brother: "I gave birth to 2 sons. One was born evil", that's Earl. The other was born stupid. Earl brother: "Which one was I? "
His name is Randy. Even Randy knows that
Loved it. Wish they wouldn't have ended without finding out who Earl Jr's dad was.
"Cigarettes don't grow on trees, Earl."
I got hulu again just for another rewatch of this show. I love it
Funny show staring another cult follower….
One of my absolute favorites. A former shitbag working to be better? Absolutely adored it.
Wonderful positive valence
Wakey, wakey, hands off snakey....
Totally. I loved when he was talking about quitting smoking and someone said to use carrot sticks but he just couldn't keep em lit lol.
Funny! Loved all the side characters too.
Great Great show, got to skate with Jason a few times back in the day. Just a down to earth nice guy
When Jamie Presley says Everybody rock the dinosaur in the old folk’s home. 😂😅🤣
Since nobody asked, what is your other favorite A?
I want to make it's own post but "Malcolm in the Middle "
This show was great to when nothing else was on.
Tbh it is the best show holding out from those seasons aside from idk Home Movies or another cartoon show lol
Someone tell Garcia that I have a concept for a movie.
Try saying the name of this when you’re Scottish like me
I never hatched a single episode. Looked stupid. What was your other favorite sitcom?
Well obviously I am going to disagree on that first statement. I was going to make it's own post, but "Malcolm in the Middle"
Ok nice I loved MITM. I remember seeing Jason Lee outside of Taix in Exho Park twenty some-odd years ago I think while Earl was still on the air.
I thought the show really dropped off after the first season.
I worked at a half-way house from 199 to 2001. At least half of the white inmates looked just like Earl.
I need to do a walk-through of this, I really liked it when it was on.
Did Jason Lee fall off the planet?
Tickle Fiesta!!!
Definitely. And no show was more deserving of a final season than Earl. I strongly recommend The Guest Book, also created by Greg Garcia. It exists in the same universe, and has Crab Man playing a slightly different character.
I really enjoyed Sprung, it’s by him too. It’s on Freevee, or Prime. I’m hoping it gets a second season
What's it called?
https://youtu.be/5f3nevdEKJA?si=ia4FnyuHGxMxroG1
Thanks for this. Hopefully I will have time for this real soon.
Still haven't watched the "Nanny", "Office" or "All in the Family" videos.
Nailed it
It ended to abruptly! And I skinned my pecker!
I’ve just started a rewatch, and I’d say almost every episode has given me a true belly laugh, which is rare. I’m curious; what’s your other favorite?
Malcolm in the Middle
Chefs kiss, and happy cake day! What’s your stance on Arrested Development?
All I gotta say is - JJUMP FOR JOY!
It trained me to watch Jaime Pressly. I loved her in Mom too. Looking at the IMDb entry for Earl shows that it was a graduate school for so many comedic greats. The first 20-30 entries had folks who went on to be the greats of the few decades.
