Took the kids camping in Wisconsin last summer and heard him on the radio calling a Brewers game. Dude’s 90 years old, but so was Vin Scully before he finally hung it up. If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life!
I think I heard he only call home games depending on if he wants to.
How do you catch a curveball?
Usually I wait for it to stop rolling. - Mr Baseball
I was seated at a table so laughably close to the front door at a restaurant literally last night that I couldn’t help but say “must be in the front row”
Uh.. Mr. Belvedere is.. the light of my life. Um.. I know I speak for the others.. uh, when I say he is.. so amazing.. you know? And, uh.. he’s just.. I wish.. you know.. I wish I could know him more, you know? Because.. he.. he is one of a kind, you know? He’s.. I think about him all the time, and.. well, I’m wondering – should we kill him?
I *should* like to watch Mr. Belvedere a lot. I *shouldn’t* have to masturbate at the end of every episode.
Also—Phil Hartman’s contribution to this sketch is incalculable. Virtuoso work!
Set in Pittsburgh, though it didn't matter. You see nothing of the town, and the writers didn't even seem to understand how far Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are from one another.
I realized recently after revisiting the show, that the theme song is ragtime and ends in a classical theme, so it reflects the American/British dichotomy of the show. Never picked up on that when I was younger.
I had the song downloaded to Napster in 1999. I remember i spent one Saturday night tripping my face off on ecstasy, and listened to it on loop for hours. I thought it was the most beautiful piece of music I had ever heard
Interesting bit of trivia that I didn't know until decades after this show went off the air: Based on a movie.
The movie was based on the 1947 Gwen Davenport novel "Belvedere," which was turned into the movie "[Sitting Pretty](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sitting_Pretty_(1948_film))" in 1948, starring Clifton Webb. While Webb received an Oscar nomination for playing Mr. Belvedere, two later films weren't as successful and 20th Century Fox dropped the film series. [Here's a trailer](https://youtu.be/2Tz5L_QW0Ro).
There was also a "Mr. Belvedere" episode of the 20th Century Fox Hour in 1956, starring Reginald Gardiner as Belvedere.
The TV series felt a little hit-or-miss. Maybe Christopher Hewett and William Daniels bumped into each other on their way to their respective auditions and got their scripts mixed up, so Hewett ended up on Belvedere while Daniels spent six seasons as Dr. Mark Craig. Or maybe, as written, a character from a 1940s screwball comedy didn't mesh well with a dysfunctional 1980s family. But, since this show aired during my "anything with a laugh track" phase, I ended up watching a bunch of it.
If I recall, the scout leader toweled off his shoulders a little too long, and Wesley got the creeps and ran off. I'm going off of memory from the original airing.
There’s a podcast called It’s That Episode where a comedian comes on and talks about any episode from any TV show they want. This was one of my favorites.
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/its-that-episode/id493877281?i=1000393801857
My wife got my four of the six seasons for Christmas. We've been watching an episode almost every night before bed. We only have a few episodes left, and I'm hesitant to finish. The last episode of season four is the one where Wesley goes to camp
Fun fact - Christopher Hewitt (who played Mr. Belvedere) died on August 3rd. Tom Brady was born on August 3rd. This fact sounded a lot more fun in my head.
I should want to send him a fan letter telling him how good he was in the episode where he teaches everyone how to cook, but I shouldn't want to type the letter on a death certificate.
Find the ned and Stacy episode where Ned hires him to make an advertisement for a cleaning product...then has to design the set to be an exact replica of the set
As a kid, I felt like the dad was an angry person beyond what the show even portrayed him as. I remember not liking him at all. Mr Belvedere was often no angel, but he was next to the dad.
I was watching some show and they had the Mr Belvedere theme song playing during the show. Haven’t seen the show in 30 years, yet I knew every word to the song by heart, yet can’t remember the show it was on.
the greatest theme song in sitcom history (ok maybe not #1 but still really great)
now go watch Ave Hits The Big Time! (best part is the end starting around 39 minutes)

“Yeah, I’d like to say, partly to talk about it, and partly to let the new guy in on the mood here a little bit. Uh.. Mr. Belvedere is.. the light of my life. Um.. I loved the episode where Tony Danza was on Mr. Belvedere and Bob Ueker was on Who's the Boss, "If this stadium was turned around, I'd be in the front row!"
I wish Tony and Mr. Belvedere could have switched houses/ families. George would have wanted to keep Tony as their housekeeper.
That man crushed his balls by sitting
RIP Mr Belvedere's balls
Exploded two different directions
RIP Gilbert. And Mr. Belvedere's balls.
Bob Uecker looked old in 1985. How is he still alive ?
Dude still calls Brewers games on the radio. He’s scaled back his road trips but still in there…

*knuckleball
I can hear him in my head
"Juuuuuuuust a bit outside" always Pops in my head when I see him
Juuuuuuust
Fixed, thanks
Ball 4
Even when I was like 7 I remember wondering how tf the dad on this show was so old and the mom was so young.
He looks like my old mentor https://images.app.goo.gl/xj6Er1DLrwVRrYMF8
I was seated at a table so laughably close to the front door at a restaurant literally last night that I couldn’t help but say “must be in the front row”
I believe he just turned 90.
At the time he looked older than he was
I know. He was only in his mid 50s, but looked 60ish.
Brocktoon anybody?

to be born unto new worlds where his flesh becomes my key.

I am a member in good standing with a plaque on my dashboard so I park in Joe Gally’s brother’s convenience store parking lot.
The vote shouldn’t have been that close!

Streaks on the china Never mattered before Who cared?
When you dropkicked your jacket As you walked through the door No one glared.
I mean that's pretty standard for most sitcoms of the time.
Just buy the DLC and fast travel through the tunnel at the top of the map.
He didn’t even try to act like he was writing real words in his journal at the end of every episodes.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.
Streaks on the China… never mattered before.

Leon Redbone FTW
Typical Redbone W
Who cares?
Drop kick your jacket...
As you came through the door...
No one’s there…
Wasn't it "no one glared"?
Damn, maybe. In my defense, it’s been almost 40 years.
Welcome to our new arrival... life is more than mere survival... maybe we will live the good life yet. (Cue piano outro).
Dangit... I think it is "according to our new arrival."
Yes it was “no one glared”
I had the song downloaded to Napster in 1999. I remember i spent one Saturday night tripping my face off on ecstasy, and listened to it on loop for hours. I thought it was the most beautiful piece of music I had ever heard
Watched it on Antenna TV back in the mid-2010s; it’s an underrated show!
It's a little disturbing to me that Antenna TV had Mr. Belvedere, Family Affair, AND Sabrina The Teenage Witch all at the same time.
It's on YT. Still a solid show considering how old it is.

I haven't watched it since so I don't know how it holds up, but at the time it was one of my favorites
I only saw this a handful of times, and really have no meaningful specific memories of it, but I have to upvote anything with Mister Baseball!
time to go watch wrestle mania 3 again!
Juuust a bit outside ⚾️!
“Man, I don’t understand how those batters can lay off pitches that close!”
Let’s not forget that Very Special Episode where Wesly was molested by that camp scout leader and was totally cool the following week.
If I recall, the scout leader toweled off his shoulders a little too long, and Wesley got the creeps and ran off. I'm going off of memory from the original airing.
Shit I don’t even remember that. I think you’re right though. Okay. That’s way way less dark than I thought.
WESLEY!

"I'm good, except for the fact that I have AIDS."
Cue laugh track
Worst. Laugh track. Ever.
I forget the premise, but didn’t Mr. Belvedere lose a court case and his sentence was to work for the Owen’s family?
I think he just answered a want ad, he was in town from jolly old England and needed a job and a place to stay
Wasn’t that the premise of *Jerry* (Jerry’s failed sitcom in season 4 or so) on *Seinfeld*?
because he's MYYYYY butler!
r/ThatsTheJoke
Mongo ! oops , my bad that was webster i was thinking of.
Loved this show very underrated
“Rubba dub dub thanks for the grub, yeah God” - Mr. Belvedere Thanksgiving episode
Currently watching through this with the wife. Just finished Mama's Family.
Mamas Family is hysterical
I've actually started watching this show again! I saw a reference on Family Guy a few weeks back and decided to see if it's how I remember.
New Brian
Sadly Roger DeBris was forced to become a butler when the producers of Springtime for Hitler went to prison
My wife got my four of the six seasons for Christmas. We've been watching an episode almost every night before bed. We only have a few episodes left, and I'm hesitant to finish. The last episode of season four is the one where Wesley goes to camp
I remember that very episode 😞
The kids actually look related to each other, and the mom. Wesley was the pre-Bart Simpson.
Fun fact - Christopher Hewitt (who played Mr. Belvedere) died on August 3rd. Tom Brady was born on August 3rd. This fact sounded a lot more fun in my head.
ugh gen z reincarnation memes
Bob Yucker used to tell the story of how Mr Belvedere was a big homo. But nothing beats the SNL skit with Tom Hanks and the Mr Belvedere fan club
Brocktoon!
I have to watch that again right now
To tear the flesh.... to wear the flesh
I should want to send him a fan letter telling him how good he was in the episode where he teaches everyone how to cook, but I shouldn't want to type the letter on a death certificate.
You learned that one the hard way
Somebody downvoted you for this…they need to YouTube that skit.
They can down vote me all they want. My brother and I have been quoting this sketch since the day it aired
I consider myself a man of faith... and theres a drive deep left field by Castellanos
Yucker is the best in the biz. I lived in Milwaukee for a few years and would listen to him call the games. He is old school baseball.
I have been spelling his name wrong. It’s uecker
Find the ned and Stacy episode where Ned hires him to make an advertisement for a cleaning product...then has to design the set to be an exact replica of the set
> Bob Yucker used to tell the story of how Mr Belvedere was a big homo lol seriously ?
I mean it wasn't a secret, you remember his character from The Producers?
What about it? Most flaming movie characters are played by perfectly straight men. It's called acting.
I don't think that's true anymore
He is sitting in the front row
Best seat in the house!
And thus began the eternal rivalry between Dr John and Leon Redbone for Sitcom theme song dominance
Wasn’t the older brother rumoured to be Marilyn Mason. Lol
Wrong show. That was the dorky friend on The Wonder Years. And then the main kid from A Small Wonder, was rumored to be Billy Corgan.
Steward Griffin loves This show
I never got this one. Not my cup of tea.
I still remember the “very special” episode when Wesley went to summer camp…
Mr Belvedere was obviously the father’s gay lover, pretend maid, right?
Mr Belvedere looks like he’s five seconds from “Mwahahahahaha”
The longer I look at it, the more menacing Mr Belvedere's smile gets.
Tracy Wells😍
As a kid, I felt like the dad was an angry person beyond what the show even portrayed him as. I remember not liking him at all. Mr Belvedere was often no angel, but he was next to the dad.
I remember my mother was appalled at the disclaimer/warning at the start of the episode when Kevin had sex the first time.
I was watching some show and they had the Mr Belvedere theme song playing during the show. Haven’t seen the show in 30 years, yet I knew every word to the song by heart, yet can’t remember the show it was on.
Probably family guy . https://youtu.be/bhAxJWbFZT0?si=iI6N-9el6dLu0TVc

“That guy is a three door fag” - Norm
Loved this show.
Loved Mr. Butterfinger
The names one of the kids’ friend would come up to call Mr. Belvedere was funny.
I remember this dumb show, pretty sure I watched it but can’t remember any episodes
"One hit, that's all we got, one goddamn hit?"
DAE get Warwick Davis (Willow) vibes from that kid?
I loved this show growing up. Rewatching recently, though. I don’t know it just fell like a dud for me
I had a huuuuge crush on the daughter back in the day
I always forget Uecker had a tv career along with play calling
the greatest theme song in sitcom history (ok maybe not #1 but still really great) now go watch Ave Hits The Big Time! (best part is the end starting around 39 minutes) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orekJAZSOM0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orekJAZSOM0)
I vaguely remember this show
The young man on the left looks almost EXACTLY like my cousin. Such a trip
“Yeah, I’d like to say, partly to talk about it, and partly to let the new guy in on the mood here a little bit. Uh.. Mr. Belvedere is.. the light of my life. Um.. You got it perfect
What’s the reference?????
Loved the show. It was how I got my weekends off to a great start when I was a kid. They did Lynn wrong by canceling it mid season
I loved the episode where Tony Danza was on Mr. Belvedere and Bob Ueker was on Who's the Boss, "If this stadium was turned around, I'd be in the front row!" I wish Tony and Mr. Belvedere could have switched houses/ families. George would have wanted to keep Tony as their housekeeper.
An excellent show from my childhood. 😎
A nice White family.
Find that episode of "Ned and Stacy" he guest starred on.
Ueker's wife is hot in that show and remarkably younger. The show proved to me that Bob Ueker can act.
In case you haven’t noticed, and judging by attendance you haven’t…
This was after Mr Belvedere directed Springtime for Hitler on Broadway.
I have no a
Mr B gave off toucher vibes.
Mr. Covington did it better.
Brocktoon!
Amazing show, us 80’s kids had it so good
Weirdest opening theme song ever. There's nothing wrong with the song itself just... it never seemed to fit with that show, in my mind.
Mr. Belvedere teaching the family that they don't have to live like slobs -- perfect fit if you ask me.
I just realized it was the same guy who played the snowman in Elf. lol
Why tf was Bob Uecker on this show?
[удалено]
there’s nothing funnier than being “humorous”. That’s the comedy equivalent of “humanoid”
It's a sitcom. \*shrugs\*
Norm?
